"SHUGAH" SHANE SEXTON RETURNS TO USAC/CRA COMPETITION ON SATURDAY AT SANTA MARIA

(Warner Springs, CA, July 4, 2024) The night is finally here! This Saturday, July 6, "Shugah" Shane Sexton will make his first appearance in the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series since April 27th. The young Warner Springs, California race car driver had been waiting for an engine that was finally delivered and put in his gorgeous #74 sprint car.
Sexton, his father Stan, and the powerful car made the trek to the 1/3 mile banked clay oval on Friday afternoon. While he has not had a lot of laps on the track, he did have success there on August 6, 2022. Racing with the California Lightning Sprint Car Series on that night, "Shugah" made the podium with a third-place finish.
The California Lightning Sprint Cars will also be a part of this Saturday's program. Along with driving his own 410 sprint car on Saturday, Sexton was offered a chance to race a top of the line lightning sprint. As enticing as it was, he decided to forego that opportunity so he could give full attention to the 410.
When Saturday's show is over, Sexton and his crew will turn their attention to the USAC/CRA race at Perris Auto Speedway on July 13th. That trek is only 62 miles, as opposed to the 306-mile one-way junket it took to get to this week's race at Santa Maria.
Saturday's show will be Sexton's fifth attempt at getting a race in this year. Thus far, his luck can only be described as "worse than bad" and mechanical issues kept him out of or knocked him out of three of the previous four main events. His lone appearance in a USAC/CRA main this year came in someone else's 360 to race against the 410s at Perris on April 27th. On that night, he placed 21st in the main event,
For fans making it to Saturday's race, be sure to come down to the pits after the night's final event to meet "Shugah" Shane and the #74 crew.
For fans who want to see Sexton in action on Saturday, the gates will open at 4:00 p.m. Qualifying will begin at 5:00 p.m., and the first race will start at 6:00. Adult tickets are $25.00. Seniors and military get in for $23.00. For kids 6-12, it is only $5.00, and children 5 and under are free. The track is located at 1900 Hutton Road in Nipomo.
