FLOWDYNAMICS DRIVERS MATT McCARTHY AND LOGAN WILLIAMS ARE RACING IN THE BROTHER BRETT CLASSIC AT PERRIS

(Ontario, CA, August 15, 2024) Flowdynamics drivers Matt McCarthy and Logan Williams are primed and ready for this Saturday's Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series "Brother Brett Classic" at Perris Auto Speedway. The race has extra cash up for grabs, including a trophy dash with a purse of over $4,000.00.

The high-dollar trophy dash, which is a staple at The PAS every August, has a special spot in the racing memory of McCarthy. Instead of the normal three-lap trophy dash for a cheap plastic trophy, this version features the four fastest qualifiers, contesting four separate three-lap races. Each driver starts in one of the four starting positions one time. The winner of each four-lap race earns three points. The racer who comes home second gets two points with the driver in third receiving one. The last-place finisher gets a zero. At the end of the fourth three-lap race, officials total up the points, and the driver with the most gets the lion's share of the purse.

A few seasons ago, McCarthy, who makes his home in Riverside, California, ended up being the top dog in the dash. After being the fastest car in qualifying earlier in the night, he outscored some of the best drivers on the West Coast in the talent-laden field. After confining all of this racing this year to Perris Auto Speedway, McCarthy hopes for a repeat performance in the dash on Saturday night.

It will be an accomplishment just to get into the dash, as all of the drivers will have their qualifying gloves pulled tight as they chase Saturday's big money. With their equipment and history, McCarthy and Williams should be among the favorites to qualify for the four lapper. The big money does not stop with the trophy dash. The Brother Brett Classic 30 Lap main event will pay $4500.00 to win. In addition to the normal purse and Avanti Windows and Doors $500 bonus, "Big Mike" Grosswendt from All Coast Construction is going to toss an additional $1,000.00 into the winner's pocket.

In five starts at Perris this season, McCarthy has two top-10 finishes. He raced home 10th on March 16th. Six weeks later, he scored a season-best sixth.

Williams, who lives in Yorba Linda, California, is chasing the 2024 USAC/CRA championship and has perfect attendance. In six races at Perris, he has four top 10s, including three top fives on the West Coast premier clay oval. His best finishes were a pair of fourth-place results in May and June.

In the first 11 races in the series this season, Williams has placed in the top 11 nine times. The two times he did not finish in the top 10, he was knocked out of the races due to mechanical issues. In his last six starts, he has finished in the top 10 five times. Included are four top fives. His best result for the season thus far was a second at Kevin Harvick's Kern Raceway on June 8th.

Last Saturday, Williams and the #5W journeyed to the 60-year-old, 3/8-mile-banked Santa Maria Speedway. Twenty-three other cars showed up, and Williams, with a 13.535, was the sixth fastest qualifier.

After starting and finishing fifth in his heat, Williams began the 30-lap main event on the outside of the front row on a track that was certainly "Cowboy Up." Williams attempted to annex the lead several times. However, a fast leader, lapped traffic, and tough track conditions thwarted his efforts. He held the runner up spot till turn four in the last lap when he slipped back to, and finished, third.

His third-place finish shot Williams from fifth to third in the championship standings and he is now only 68 points out of the lead. With a dozen races still to go in the 2024 season, the friendly driver still has plenty of time to chop down the point difference and make a title run. It all begins this Saturday at Perris.

To see the talented Flowdynamics tandem in action in the Brother Brett Classic, the spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM, and the first race will begin promptly at 7:00. Adult tickets are $30.00. For seniors 65 and over, it is $25.00. Kids six to twelve get in for only five dollars, and children five and under are admitted free. The fairgrounds charge $10.00 for parking. Advance tickets are available 24 hours a day online at https://www.tix.com/ticket-sales/pas/7 or by calling 1-800-595-4849.
