Rempfer Memorial Season Championship Night set for Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway

dirtFan website

WHEATLAND, MO. (Aug. 19, 2024) - Two of the Lucas Oil Big Adventure RV Weekly Championship Series leaders can rest a bit easy while two others have work left to be done on Saturday at the Rempfer Memorial Season Championship Night Presented by Bill Roberts Chevrolet.

Track champions will be crowned in all four divisions with a pair of drivers - Justin Wells in the Hermitage Lumber POWRi Late Models and JC Morton in the Clear Creek Golf Cars USRA B-Mods - already having mathematically clinched titles.

Wells has dominated in a successful repeat of his points title with 11 feature victories this season. The veteran driver from Aurora is 440 points in front of Jefferson City's Tucker Cox entering the final night of the regular season. Morton, meanwhile, has picked up a pair of feature wins and has an insurmountable lead on the way to his third Lucas Oil Speedway title in the B-Mods, 141 clear of Logan Smith of El Dorado Springs.

There is a bit more mystery in the Arctic Food Equipment USRA Modified division where Jason Pursley of Hermitage is on the verge of earning his first track championship after multiple runner-up finishes over the years. Pursley has not won a feature, but with five top-five finishes leads Chad Lyle of Lone Jack by 69 points with three-time division champion Jeff Cutshaw 93 behind.

The closest points battle finds William Garner of Lebanon looking to nail down his first O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars championship. The four-time feature winner this season has a 39-point lead over Jaylen Wettengel of Topeka, Kan.

The program is named to honor Harold "Rowdy" Rempfer and his wife, Julia, who were killed in an automobile accident six years ago. Rowdy was the mayor of Wheatland and he and Julia both worked at Lucas Oil Speedway.

Final Kids' Power Wheel race at intermission: The final Kids' Power Wheel races of the season will be held during intermission with the season champion also named for the youngsters. Morrow Sheets has the most wins this season and a podium finish (top three) will clinch the championship.

Youngsters ages 5-12 can bring their own battery-powered cars to the RCR Designs Jr Fan Club sign-in or drop them at the pit gates and they will be brought to the front stretch at intermission.

Kids' Pit Tour: Flagman Mike Striegel also will lead a Kids' Pit Tour prior to the races. Those interested can sign up at the RCR Designs Jr Fan Club table before 5:15 p.m. for a chance to go on the tour.

Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and grandstands at 4:30 with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05.

Driver Meet & Greet: A Drivers' Meet and Greet also will be held on the south end of the midway from 4:30-5:45 p.m. on Saturday. Drivers will display their cars on the midway, sign autographs and be available for photos and to talk with fans.
