LOGAN WILLIAMS TIED FOR FOURTH HEADING INTO SATURDAY'S KERN USAC/CRA RACE

dirtFan website

(Ontario, CA, September 26, 2024) Flowdynamics racer Logan Williams will be back in action this Saturday when the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars visit the Kevin Harvick Kern Raceway for the "Bakersfield Bash." The Yorba Linda, California-based driver enters the race tied for fourth in the series point standings with seven races to go in the season.

Saturday will mark the season's third stop for the talented 28-year-old at Kern. The first two trips to the track located in Bakersfield have provided the friendly driver with a mixed bag of results. On June 8th, he placed second on the 1/3 mile oval. That was his best finish of the season. Four weeks ago, in his last appearance at the track located in the shadow of the paved half-mile oval, mechanical ills knocked him out of the race, and he came home 18th. That was only the third time he finished out of the top 10 in 2024.

Last Saturday night, on the same track he won the 2023 Young Guns Championship, Perris Auto Speedway, Williams, kicked off the night by qualifying 10th fastest in the good-looking #5W. A famous West Coast Williams sprint car racing family member, he began and finished his 10-lap heat race in fourth.

In a wild 30-lap main that saw numerous yellow and red flags due to crashes, Williams began the race in 10th. He was one of the few racers in the event who managed to stay out of trouble. Staying out of the chaos, he appeared to have a chance to finish in the top five for the seventh time this season. However, he rolled to a stop in turn two late in the race during a yellow flag period. The car had run out of fuel.

After restarting in the rear, Williams drove back to the 10th spot before the checkered flag waved.

"We ran out of fuel," Williams said after the race. "Something was wrong with the fuel system. We went through 34 gallons when usually we go through 25."

Williams emerged from the race tied for fourth in the USAC/CRA championship standings. He is 46 points behind the third-place driver, who happens to be his brother Austin.

After this week's Kern race, Williams and the rest of the USAC/CRA stars and cars have the October 5th weekend off. However, his schedule gets busy after that. On October 12th, he will be competing at Arizona's Mohave Valley Raceway. The following week on the 18th & 19th, he will be racing at the Imperial Valley Raceway near the southeast corner of California. Williams will return to Mohave Valley on November 1st and 2nd for the 57th Western World Championship presented by Avanti Windows and Doors. One week later, on November 9th, he will finish the 2024 campaign at Perris Auto Speedway.

Spectator gates for this Saturday's race will open at 5:00 p.m., with racing at 7:00. Adult tickets are $25.00. Kids 6-12 get in for $10.00, and children 5 and under are free. The track is located at 15300 Raceway Boulevard in Bakersfield. Advance tickets are available through the track website at www.kernraceway.com. The office phone number is 616-835-1264.

Whenever you get the chance to meet Williams in person, be sure to see him in the pits. He will gladly sign autographs, and have his fine-looking team shirts available.
