"SHUGAH" SHANE SEXTON CONTESTS USAC/CRA OPENER AT MOHAVE ON SATURDAY

(Warner Springs, CA, February 21, 2025) After rain destroyed his plans on contesting Perris Auto Speedway's 29th season opener last weekend, "Shugah'" Shane Sexton is headed for Arizona's Mohave Valley Raceway for Saturday's Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series opening race of 2025. Spectator gates at the 1/3 of a mile banked clay oval will open at 3:30 and the first race will be two hours later at 5:30.
After last week's disappointment, Sexton, who lives in Warner Springs, California, is chomping at the bit to get on the track in Arizona on Saturday. It will be his fifth appearance at Mohave. In 2022, he made his initial showings on the track in a pair of USAC/CRA races. He made the A main event each time. In April, he was 12th in the A. Six months later he finished 17th.
"Shugah's" last appearance at the track was in 2023. Unfortunately, he finished 11th in the B main that night.
Sexton and the crew tested at Perris three weeks ago. The car, which is the same one he drove last year, worked perfectly, and had more power than previous times on the track. With that in mind, the countdown is on for Saturday's race.
One difference in Sexton's camp this week will be with his crew chief/father, Stan, who will be absent from the race due to work. Sexton has enlisted the help of fellow sprint car driver Mark Henry to help call the shots.
A week from Saturday, March 1st, Sexton will haul the beautiful #74 to Perris Auto Speedway for his second race of the year.
Adult tickets for Saturday's race at Mohave Valley, which is located five minutes from the Colorado River and 20 minutes from downtown Laughlin, Nevada, are $25.00. Kids tickets are $15.00 and children 5 and under are free. Parking is free.
Spectator gates will open at 3:30 on Saturday and the first race will take the green flag at 5:30. The Mohave Valley Raceway is located at 2750 Laguna Road in Mohave Valley, Arizona. The track's website is https://www.mohavevalleyraceway.com/. The office phone number is 928-346-3000.
