WHEATLAND, MO. (May 29, 2025) - The biggest night of the racing season for kids is just a little more than a month away at Lucas Oil Speedway and track officials need assistance in making some dreams come true for the youngsters.
Casey's Thursday Night Thunder Kids' Night at the Races is set for July 3rd with a big post-race fireworks display capping the night of racing. But perhaps the biggest highlight will occur during intermission with the annual kids' bicycle giveaway on the midway.
The speedway is rounding up new bicycles and is asking fans, drivers and sponsors for help in either donating bikes for kids up to age 12 or money that can be used to purchase the bicycles. Youngsters ages 5 through 12 can sign up at the RCR Designs Jr Fan Club table before intermission for a chance to enter a drawing for the new bicycles of various sizes.
Lucas Oil Speedway general manager Danny Lorton said the ultimate goal is to have a bicycle for every kid in attendance. He's hoping for at least 100 bikes for the kids to take home that evening. Those interested in helping the cause may do so by bringing a bicycle to the track office during business hours, or bringing a new bicycle to the office prior to the next Pitts Homes and Realty Weekly Racing Series program on June 14th.
Cash donations which will be used for the purchase of bicycles also will be accepted.
"It's always a highlight of our season when we are able to give away bicycles to the youngsters, especially to those who might not otherwise be able to afford one," Lorton said. "Our fans, drivers and sponsors always are great in helping us try and reach our goal and I'm sure this year will be no different."
The Arctic Food Equipment USRA Modifieds will be the featured class of the evening with a special 25-lap, $2,000-to-win the main event presented by Heartland Modified Touring Series. Also on the holiday-eve program will be the Hermitage Lumber Late Models, O'Reilly Auto Parts Stock Cars and the Clear Creek Golf Car B-Mods.
Visit participating area Casey's locations for $2 Discount Coupons to the night's activities.

Other Kids' Power Wheels races, for 24V-36V battery-powered cars, are July 26th with the season championship on Aug. 23rd.
