Brunner, Bauman earn Progressive American Flat Track motorcycle wins at Lucas Oil Speedway

dirtFan website

WHEATLAND, MO. (July 18, 2025) - Progressive Flat Track motorcycles came to Lucas Oil Speedway for the first time on Friday night and put on a show, with Trevor Brunner making a last-turn pass for the feature win in the AFT Singles.

Brunner of Aurora, Ind., sailed around season points leader Tom Drane on the outside in the final turn to prevail in a thriller. Drane had led nearly the entire race, taking over the top spot on lap two.

Brunner and Chase Saathoff gradually cut into the lead over the final laps and Brunner was able to make the big move coming out of turn four coming to the checkered flag to win by .069 of a second. Saathoff was right behind in third.

The race went for six minutes, plus two laps. Brunner made the most of the allotted time and distance.

"It feels amazing. I feel like I got about 300 pounds lifted off my chest," Brunner said of his first win of 2025. "I knew I could get it done. We were missing the little things and I think it was a lot mentally for myself.

"Man, this facility is awesome. These fans are awesome. This experience at Lucas Oil Speedway has been awesome and sticking around to watch us do our thing. I couldn't have picked out more of a dogfight for that one. I had to be really patient."

Points leader Bauman prevails in AFT Super Twins: Briar Bauman of Salinas, Calif., led all the way to earn his fifth Super Twins victory of the season as he held off a late-race charge from Dallas Daniels by .329 seconds.

Bauman took the lead with Brandon Robinson running second in the early going. Bauman led Davis Fisher by 1.33 seconds at the halfway timed mark at four minutes before Daniels rolled into the runner-up spot and began to cut into the lead.

But Daniels wasn't able to reel him in for the last-lap pass. Fisher held on for third, nearly three seconds behind Bauman.

"I have a great team. We're gonna keep chipping at it," said Bauman, adding "that got a little too lose for comfort" at the finish.

"We started on the third row and a second place is like a win tonight," Daniels said. "The track kind of came to us."
