WHEATLAND, MO. (July 28, 2025) - Motorsports fans can combine two forms of racing this Friday and Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway as action is set for both the dirt track and drag boat facility next door.
On the dirt it's the 16th annual USMTS Slick Mist Show-Me Shootout Presented by Foley Equipment, bringing the starts of the United States Modified Touring Series to Lucas Oil Speedway for back-to-back nights of racing.
Meanwhile, during the day time it's the KDBA Summer Shootout on Lake Lucas with qualifying rounds on Friday and eliminations on Saturday. Fans can opt to purchase a two-day pass that includes admission to all the action, single-day tickets for both or single-day tickets for one or the other.
The USMTS Show-Me Shootout has become one of the highlight events of the dirt-track schedule over the years, expanding to a two-day event in 2024 when Jim Chisholm swept both features. Chisholm, the reigning series champion, returns and is giving chase to four-time USMTS king Rodney Sanders of Happy, Texas.
With five wins in 21 starts this season, Sanders leads Chisholm of Osage, Iowa, by 141 points. Chisholm has four feature wins in 2025. Tanner Mullens of Wichita, Kan., is third in the championship chase, 142 behind the leader with top rookie contender Joe Chisholm of Osage, Iowa, 255 in back of Sanders.
Kyle Strickler of Mooresville, N.C., is fifth in points with Terry Phillips of Springfield sixth. Mullens picked up the last USMTS victory, leading all 40 laps July 20 to win the 5th annual Mod Wars finale at Granite City Motor Park in Sauk Rapids, Minn.
Three divisions of the Pitts Home and Realty Weekly Racing Series also are scheduled. The Clear Creek Golf Car B-Mods and O'Reilly Auto Parts Stock Cars will be running for $500 to win and the Hermitage Lumber Late Models will also be in action racing for $750-to-win on Friday. The next night, the Stock Cars and B-Mods will go after $750 to win in the feature while the Late Models compete for $1,000-to-win.
Grandstand gates open at 4 p.m. both days with hot laps at 6:30 and racing to follow.
