Colagiovanni Wins at Brockville

By Curtis Berleue (Brockville, ONT) | For the first time this season, 2019 tour champion Paulie Colagiovanni found his way back to victory lane in Empire Super Sprints competition on Saturday at Brockville. After a handful of second-place finished, Colagiovanni was able to take the lead on lap thee and not look back, en-route to a $2,000 win north of the border.
Pinnacle Pole Award winner Rick Wilson would take the early lead in the A-Main over Trevor Years. On lap three, a caution slowed the field and on the ensuing restart Paulie Colagiovanni was able to slip by both Years and Wilson to take the lead.
As the laps wound down, Colagiovanni opened his lead to nearly half a track. Behind Colagiovanni, Friday nights second-place finisher Davie Franek had worked his way into the runner-up position but was unable to close the gap between them.
For the first time in 2025, Colagiovanni crossed the line first, picking up $2,000 and a trip to victory lane.
"It feels great to get a win for Denny, and the whole Denny Peebles Racing team, it's just awesome," said Colagiovanni in victory lane. "We definitely struggled a little bit with this chassis in the beginning of the year, we just didn't have the amount of track time we needed to fine tune it."
Davie Franek was once again a bridesmaid, bringing home his second runner-up position on the weekend.
"The start just kind of messed me up there," said Franek. "I felt really good, he (Paulie) just kind of got out there in clean air and he could maneuver a little better."
Rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium was Jordan Poirier in third.
"It was a little difficult to pass cars without a cushion, I was really hoping for a cushion tonight," said Poirier. "Finishing third after last night feels really good though."
With 18 cars in the pits, the field was split into three timed hot lap groups, with Rifenburg Fast Time awards going to Dylan Swiernik, Davie Franek and Jason Barney. Swiernik, Franek and Barney also picked up Elab Smokers Boutique heat wins, while Joe Trenca won the L.A. Kapp Inc. dash.
