Brody Roa Looking Forward to Calistoga Doubleheader on Labor Day Weekend

dirtFan website

Cypress, CA - August 7, 2025 — 2023 USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series champion Brody Roa is eager to be part of the long-awaited return of the Louie Vermeil Classic at the historic Calistoga Speedway on August 30th and 31st. The 14th running of the prestigious event will mark the grand re-opening of the iconic track, which has been dormant since 2019.

Roa, one of the most respected and consistent drivers on the West Coast, is currently seeking someone with a 410 engine to install in his own chassis or is open to driving someone else's competitive ride for the weekend doubleheader.

Opened in 1937, Calistoga Speedway is one of the most picturesque and fastest half-mile dirt ovals in the country. Like many drivers, Roa has been anxiously waiting for its return. His recent results at the track back up his enthusiasm: from 2017 to 2019, Roa started all six USAC/CRA main events held at Calistoga, recording five top-10 finishes, including two top-fives.

"It's a pretty historic track," Roa said. "In the years I've been racing, it's definitely my favorite track in California. It's big, fast, and wide—it puts on great racing. It's the fastest track I've raced on in the state."

So far in 2025, Roa, who lives in Garden Grove, California, has primarily focused on the USAC/CRA Series, collecting five top-10 finishes in seven starts using a Dash 12 engine. While that powerplant works well on smaller tracks, Roa is looking for more horsepower to tackle Calistoga's demanding high-speed layout.

"I'm open to either option," Roa explained. "We could bring our car up with a stronger engine, or I'd be happy to jump into a competitive ride. Calistoga is back, and I don't want to miss it. If someone has a ride open—or a 410 they'd like to drop into my car and put their name on the hood—I'm ready."

Beyond the racing, Roa and his wife, Tailor, have always enjoyed the trip to Calistoga, located in Northern California's scenic wine country. This year's event will be extra special, as it will mark the first visit for daughters Addison and Rylee.

"Tailor and I always loved going up there—not just for the racing but for everything the area has to offer," Roa shared. "The last time we went was in 2019 before the girls were born. So, this will be a fun family adventure having them along with us."
