Mechanicsburg - Danny Dietrich wired the field for the $8,000 payday in the 43rd annual Jack Gunn Memorial for 410 sprint cars at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night.

The flag to flag victory for Dietrich was his third in the prestigious event at the oval and his second of the season there.

Previous Gunn Memorial wins for Dietrich came in 2017 and in 2022.

In super sportsman action, Brandon Shearer scored the 20-lap win in the wingless main while Tony Jackson took victory in the winged sportsman division.

The initial start of the 30-lap Gunn Memorial for 410 sprints was marred by a red flag as the field roared past the flagstand.

Flipping were the cars of Ryan Smith, TJ Stutts and Freddie Rahmer while Jake Karklin was also involved.

All drivers escaped injury.

Dietrich took off ahead of Chase Dietz when the second start took place before Anthony Macri drove into third on the third circuit.

The leader entered the rear of the field on lap 10 as Dietz and Macri battled for second before the caution flag unfurled for a slowing Austin Bishop.

The final 20 circuits would go non-stop with Dietrich again entering the backmarkers during the final eight laps.

Troy Wagaman Jr. muscled by Macri for third on the restart and closed on Dietz for second.

However Macri took third back late in the event to secure the podium position.

Dietrich crossed the finish line with a .898 second lead over Dietz.

Cameron Smith and Wagaman rounded out the top five finishers.

Sixth through 10th went to Lance Dewease, Brock Zearfoss, Ashton Torgerson, Kody Hartlaub and Matt Campbell.

Heats went to Dietrich, Smith and Torgerson with Campbell scoring the consolation race.

Macri set fast time with a lap of 16.976 seconds.

Luke Deatrick started second and would lead the first three laps of the winged sportsman main before fourth starter Tony Jackson took command with an outside turn four move.

Jackson would then drive uncontested to the victory by 1.338 seconds.

Third starter John Edkin rode home second followed by Scott Dellinger, Kenny Edkin and Deatrick.

Fast time was set by Dellinger with a lap of 20.084 seconds.

The wingless sportsman main saw Curt Stroup lead the first lap before Brandon Shearer got the lead.

However Tony Jackson, in an effort to sweep the night, took the lead on lap six only to eventually see Shearer reclaim the spot to get the win.

Jackson was second followed by Steve Wilbur, Stroup and Cliff Brian Jr.

Jackson set fast time with a lap of 21.134 seconds.
