Lucas Oil Speedway ready for busy Labor Day Weekend on dirt track, Lake Lucas

WHEATLAND, MO. (Aug. 25, 2025) - The Labor Day Weekend tradition of a double dose of racing on the dirt and water continues this weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway.

The 11th annual Ron Jenkins Memorial on the dirt oval Friday and Saturday features the COMP Cams Super Dirt Late Model Series. Night One will find a $7,000-to-win feature plus a $2,000 bonus, and another $500 bonus for fast qualifier, courtesy of Mary Jenkins Holt in honor of the late Ron Jenkins, builder of the original Wheatland Raceway.

The Hickamo Super Stocks will also be in action as the drivers battle for $500-to-win with the Show Me Vintage Racers also in action.

On Saturday, the Comp Cams Late Models will battle it out in a $12,000-to-win feature with Mary Jenkins Holt again adding a $2,000 bonus to the winner and a $500 fast-time qualifier bonus. The Hickamo Super Stocks will race for a $750 top prize and Craig Danuser of Whitetail trophy hunt has put up an additional $250 bonus money to make it $1,000 to win for the Super Stocks. The SMVR also will return.

Pit and spectator gates open at 4 p.m. both days with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05.

Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., holds the COMP Cams season championship lead entering this weekend's action. Moyer, 67, has more than 800 career feature wins and he leads Morgan Bagley of Longview, Texas, by 135 points with B.J. Robinson of Bossier City, La., 320 behind.

The 15th annual Diamond Drag Boat Nationals is the third and final appearance of the season on Lake Lucas for the Kentucky Drag Boat Association series. The three-day event has qualifying on Friday and Saturday with elimination rounds on Sunday.

A three-day pit pass is offered for $100 and that includes dirt-track admission for both nights of the Ron Jenkins Memorial plus drag boat admission all three days.

KDBA division leaders entering the weekend include: Rick Allen (Top Alcohol Hydro), Justin Schmidt (Pro Outlaw), Ty Bollweg (Quick Eliminator), Mike Lamb (Pro Mod), Robert Ledbetter (Pro Jet), David Merchant (Pro Comp Flat), Dave Schmidt (Pro Eliminator), Addyson Leas (Mod Eliminator), Jerry Branam/Dalton Jones (Top Eliminator), James Norman (Stock Eliminator) and Alexi McKay (Personal Watercraft).

Grandstands at Lake Lucas tentatively open at 8 a.m. Friday, 9:30 a.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. Sunday. Qualifying is set to begin at 8 a.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday with eliminations at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
