(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 10, 2025 - In a season plagued by mechanical woes and on-track incidents, Austin Hartmann and the 87A Hartmann Racing Team saw the 2025 campaign continue on a similar note at the 25th annual Jerry Richert Memorial Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series event at Cedar Lake, Wis. on New Richmond, Wis. on Friday, Sept. 5 and Saturday, Sept. 6.
Hartmann began the opening night of the two-day program on Friday, Sept. 5, by qualifying 23rd in the stellar 46-car field. From there, Hartmann started eighth and failed to finish in the second heat race. The 25-year-old Plymouth resident started 12th in the first B main and again retired before the end of the race with mechanical woes.
Rain before the start of the racing program on Saturday, Sept. 6, prompted the format for the evening to change from qualifying and dash draw to heat race draw and passing points.
With 36 cars on hand, Hartmann drew the sixth starting spot and moved up to fifth in heat four. In challenging heavy, wet, and rough track conditions, the Plymouth, Wis. resident finished third in the B main to qualify for the 30-lap main event. Hartmann was scheduled to start 21st, but he elected not to enter the feature race.
"It's been a tough one, there's no sugar coating it," Hartmann said. "We've gotten pretty beat down to say the least. We found our issue at Cedar Lake to be the stumble valve. With how the track was and starting at the back, I didn't see it worth risking another car to run Saturday's feature. We'll try it again this weekend with the MOWA series."
The 87A Hartmann Racing Team is slated to head south of the border to compete in a doubleheader weekend with the Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) 410 Sprint Car Series, starting with the Carolyn Schuh Memorial on Friday, Sept. 12, at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill.
The Badger Midgets, Modifieds, DIRTcar Sportsman, and Street Stocks are also on the card. Hot laps start at 6:30 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.
The Jacksonville Speedway event will be live-streamed on DirtVision.
On Saturday, Sept. 13, Hartmann and the team will travel with MOWA to Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Ill., to compete in the Tom Knowles Memorial.
MARA Midgets, DIRTcar Pro Late Models, and B Modifieds will also be in action.
Hot laps are scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. with racing at 6 p.m.
