Last-Bend Heroics Net Brody Roa His Best Finish of 2025

dirtFan website

Cypress, CA - October 2, 2025 — Brody Roa's strong season hit a new high last Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway, where a dramatic last-lap pass in turn three secured him a season-best third-place finish in the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series. Now, the "Pride of Garden Grove" is aiming two spots higher when USAC/CRA rolls into Arizona's Mohave Valley Raceway this Saturday, October 4th.

At Perris — the long-standing home of USAC/CRA since its debut in 2004 — Roa qualified ninth quick in the 16-car field. Lining up outside the front row in his heat, he left no doubt, charging to a dominant win. The 10-lap triumph was his fourth heat race victory of 2025, tying him for second-most on the season despite running a part-time schedule.

In the 30-lap feature on the famous Riverside County half-mile, Roa lined up ninth and immediately began his march forward. Tom Malcolm was making similar progress, and the two wound up in a thrilling nose-to-tail battle inside the top five. With Malcolm holding third and Roa glued to his tail tank, the laps ticked away in a tense duel for the podium.

Time was running out until Roa seized his chance — diving low into turn three on the final lap, sliding past Malcolm, and beating him back to the stripe for third. It was a fitting exclamation point on one of the most exciting drives of his 2025 campaign.

"I am really confident racing with Tommy," Roa said of the battle for third. "We duked it out all year in 2023. It was mainly him and I racing for wins that year. I had a lot of fun racing with him on Saturday. It took me back to that year a bit. I don't think, even back in 2023, that we even touched a wheel. I know he is going to race me clean. So, I am going to race him clean and we race each other hard."

The 34-year-old was very pleased with the result and with the performance of his Dash 12 engine.

"I think we are getting closer," Roa responded about getting the Dash 12 all figured out. "Honestly, the hardest thing I have come to learn is the horsepower we have. I have had to race harder (this year) to try and win races than I had to over the past 10 years. That is fun for me. It is challenging. I have to really hustle this race car to have a good night. I look forward to showing up with it."

Roa has raced 10 times in 2025. Seven of the 10 have been at Perris. He is looking forward to racing at Mohave this week.

"Honestly, it is probably one of my favorite race tracks out here in the west," the Garden Grove, California driver enthused. "Of all the places we race with CRA, it is probably my favorite race track on the schedule. It suits my style a bit. It is slick, it doesn't have grip, it is dusty. If there is moisture on the racetrack, it is not gooey, sticky. A race track that gets really sticky when it has moisture in it is not my style. I like stuff that is more sandy, and you can slide around on it, and you have to be more precise with your lines. I have really liked Mohave Valley Raceway since the first time we showed up. It is fun to race on, and for the size and layout, it is pretty racy, too."

"I think we will have a little bit more of an even playing field with this engine at Mohave," Roa continued. "The last time I was there, Jake Helsel, in Bobby Ream's car, led most of the race with a 360. I think that is what is the most exciting part of what we have now (The Dash 360). Mohave is a track where it does not take a thousand horsepower to win."
