BATAVIA, Ohio (October 24, 2025) - After consecutive runner-up finishes, including a heartbreaking last lap loss to Hudson O'Neal in 2023, Devin Moran is now the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presented by FloRacing National Champion.
Moran, 31, of Dresden, Ohio, joins a distinguished list of drivers who have etched their names in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series history book, becoming the tenth different tour champion. Moran will receive $250,000 at the series awards banquet, a new record for the series champion in dirt late model racing.
Entering the finale at Eldora Speedway, Moran held a 15-point lead over defending champion Ricky Thornton Jr. - meaning he only needed to finish ahead of Thornton in the 100-lap season-ending race to secure the championship.
Ultimately, Moran secured a fourth-place finish, earning his first Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presented by FloRacing National Championship by an 85-point lead. Thornton finished the race several laps behind after contact on lap 61 forced him to the pits for repairs.
"This is amazing. I feel like we've been so good and so consistent, this is honestly a sigh of relief," Moran said about his runner-up position in the championship standings over the past two years.
"I feel like we had a great car throughout the entire playoffs, and that was definitely the key. Being the first in my family to win a Lucas Oil championship is extremely meaningful. I have such a loyal fan base, friends, family, and sponsors - we couldn't have done it without them," Moran added.
"Thank you to Roger Sellars and his family for trusting me with this opportunity. Driving for Double Down Motorsports has been a dream, and I look forward to what we can achieve together in the years ahead. The hard work and dedication of my team every day means everything. They never stop pushing for our goals, and I can't thank them enough."
Moran finished his championship season with nine wins, 23 podium finishes, and 38 top-five finishes.
