Brent Sexton Does Double Duty in Sprint Cars at Placerville

Lakeside, CA — May 7, 2026 — Longtime Southern California open wheel racer Brent Sexton's hectic 2026 season continued last Saturday when he made the 540-mile trek north to compete in the 8th Annual Nor Cal Posse Shootout at the Placerville Speedway. The ambitious weekend saw the veteran racer compete with the Ultimate Sprint Car Series and the Placerville 360 Winged Sprint Cars.
The likeable Lakeside, California driver moved up in five of his six starts on the weekend. The only time he did not advance his position came in the winged 360 heat on Saturday when he started and finished seventh. Thus, he never finished worse than he started in the two nights of racing.
Sexton kicked off the weekend of racing in the three-season-old wingless Ultimate Sprint Car Series. He qualified seventh fastest in his group. He followed that up by starting seventh in his heat race and progressing one spot forward to finish sixth. That missed the direct transfer to the A main by two spots.
In the 12-lap B main, the Tennessee native started ninth and needed to get to sixth for a ticket into the A main. He aimed his flashy #44 forward, moved up to seventh, but ran out of laps and finished one spot out of the transfer.
On the other side of the program, Sexton was making only the second winged 360 start of his long career. He started eighth and finished seventh in his heat. In the 30-lap A main, he started near the back of the field in 19th. In a shining performance on the famous 61-year-old red clay quarter mile, he kept his nose clean, stayed out of trouble, and sped to a 12th-place finish.
Night two of the weekend in Nor Cal saw a change of plans. Instead of the chaos of jumping back and forth between the two cars, Brent drove the #3G 360 winged car again. However, to ease up the chaos of trying to run the two classes, he turned the #44 in the USCS portion of the program to his nephew, "Shugah'" Shane Sexton.
Night two for Brent was similar to night one in the winged car. He started eighth and finished seventh in his heat. In the main event, he again moved forward, starting 21st and finishing 15th.
Being thrown into the fire with the USCS, Shane was making his first start in the #44 and the first start in a full-size sprint car since last November. After starting and finishing seventh in his heat, he began the B main in ninth and finished 13th.
After 13 starts already in 2026, Brent plans to take this weekend off to relax, have a few cocktails, and eat his favorite meal.
