Mechanicsburg - History was made Friday night as the father and son duo of Lance and Cole Dewease swept the sprint car races at Williams Grove Speedway.

Lance Dewease notched his 118th career oval 410 sprint victory by claiming $8,000 in the Joey Allen Tribute Race while Cole Dewease won for the first time ever at the historic oval, taking the checkers in the 305 sprint main.

Both drivers charged to flag to flag victories to complete the momentous night for the family.

Dewease drew the pole for the start of the 25-lap Joey Allen Tribute event and was just coming up on the rear of the field with 10 laps completed when the caution flag appeared for a spun JJ Loss.

The leader was trailed from the beginning by Brock Zearfoss however Zearfoss was forced to contend with fifth starter Chase Dietz when action resumed as Dietz drove by Danny Dietrich for third.

Dietz was rolling around the top groove with three to go when he disposed of Zearfoss as the leader again came up on traffic.

However Dewease got a reprieve from the rear of the field when a final caution flag unfurled with two laps to go for a two-car fracas in the second corner involving Zearfoss and Brent Shearer who were vying for position.

Dewease got away from Dietz on the restart before speeding to a 1.588 second advantage at the finish.

Dietrich was third followed by Shearer and Troy Wagaman Jr.,

Sixth through 10th went to Chad Trout, Cameron Smith, Logan Rumsey, Buddy Schweibinz and Justin Whittall.

Heats went to Dietrich, Dewease, Smith and Trout with Austin Bishop winning the consolation race.

Dietz set fast time in time trials with a lap of 17.357 seconds.

Cole Dewease was chased by Croix Beasom for the first four laps of the 20-lap 305 sprint main before Chris Meleason drove into the spot.

By the halfway point Dewease had built up a 3.371 second lead over Meleason and he would claim the race going away for the first ever Williams Grove Speedway checkered flag of his young career.

Meleason settled for second followed by Mike Melair, Zach Rhodes and Ken Duke Jr.

Sixth through 10th went to Chris Dolan, Logan Spahr, Tyler Brehm, Croix Beasom and Mike Alleman.

Heats went to Brehm, Dolan and Rhodes with Tyler Erdley getting the last chance race.
