Levi Hillier flashes to second straight SCCT Speedweek victory on Tuesday

dirtFan website

Coos Bay, CA…Levi Hillier pounced on a lap 18 restart and drove away from the field to net his second consecutive triumph during SCCT Western Sprint Tour Speedweek on Tuesday.

The 16-year-old from Burlington, Washington earned his win at the beautiful Coos Bay Speedway aboard the familiar Rudeen Racing No. 26r Sprint Car.

Langley, BC wheelman Levi Klatt led the field to green after claiming the High Sierra Industries Dash. Klatt set a strong pace up front and held the field at bay during the opening 18 laps, which clicked off caution free.

Racing through lapped traffic kept things interesting in the 30-lap Shop Kyle Larson feature with Klatt leading Levi Hillier and Justyn Cox. A caution on lap 18 then set up the race changing restart, where Hillier was able to grab the lead that he would never relinquish.

The youngster was not seriously challenged after that and pulled away to take the Ed Entz checkered flag for victory. Cox founded the middle to his liking late in the going and was able to scoot past Klatt on lap 26 to record a runner up finish.

After leading much of the race Klatt crossed the stripe in third for his initial podium of the week. Yuba City's Landon Brooks and Roseville's Colby Copeland completed the top five.

Rounding out the top 10 in the main event were Cole Croft, Braden Chiaramonte, Jake Morgan, Aydan Saunders and Seth Standley. Kyle Alberding drove from 21st to 13th and brought home the Pit Stop USA Hard Charger Award.

Heat race wins went to Levi Hillier, Levi Klatt and Braden Chiaramonte. Colby Copeland began the evening by setting the Sierra Foothills Wine Services Fast Time with a lap of 11.634 around the Coos Bay Speedway.

SCCT Western Sprint Tour Speedweek continues tonight with Round 5 at the Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, Oregon. Racing can be seen live via www.calidirt.tv
