Plymouth Powerhouse DeVault Passes Stambaugh with Two to Go for Fourth GLSS Triumph of 2026

Lake Odessa, MI - He may not be a full-timer, but when Zane DeVault rolls into an event with the Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP, it's well known throughout the pits that he'll be one to battle for the win by the end of the night. That held true on Friday at I-96 Speedway during the Duel on Dirt.
With 24 cars on the property, GLSS and I-96 Speedway officials made the decision to start all the cars in the 25-lap main event. Zane DeVault and Max Stambaugh led the field to the green flag. DeVault struggled on the start falling back to sixth by the time the field got to turn three. Stambaugh opened the race as the early leader over Van Gurley, Jr and Chase Ridenour
Through the opening green flag run, DeVault methodically began charging his way back to the front, climbing back into the top five, then took third from Dustin Daggett just before the halfway mark. With 11 laps to go the first caution of the night flew when Brad Lamberson slowed down the backstretch with an apparent engine failure.
On the restart, Stambaugh maintained his lead, but DeVault stayed pesky right behind him. It was clear that Stambaugh's car was rolling better through turns one and two, and DeVault's car was better in three and four. With five laps to go, the lead pair made their way back into lapped traffic. DeVault made a mistake on the cushion in the center of one and two, allowing Stambaugh to open his gap.
With two laps to go, DeVault had made his way back to the tail tank of Stambaugh on the exit of turn four and committed to a slider line in one and two. The move was tight, and Stambaugh was forced to let DeVault in. DeVault blocked the crossover at the exit of turn two as the pair nearly made contact.
DeVault came around to take the white flag and grabbed his fourth win of the 2026 season. Stambaugh held on for second ahead of Dustin Daggett, who stayed close to the battle for the lead. Darren Dryden got credit for fourth and Boston Mead was credited with fifth.
The next event for the Great Lakes Super Sprints is Saturday, August 8th at Silver Bullet Speedway in Owendale, Michigan. Fans who can't make the trip can catch the action live on GreatLakesSprints.TV.
