- Pokorski banks solid Jackson Nationals debut
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) September 23, 2025 - In his first appearance at the prestigious 47th annual Jackson Nationals, Alex Pokorski acquainted himself quite nicely with the fast four-tenths-mile Jackson Motorplex in co-sanctioned Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association, Northern Outlaw Sprint Association, and Midwest Sprint Touring Series competition at Jackson, Minn., on Saturday, Sept. 20. Behind the wheel of the No. 4 Akright Auto Racing Team 410 Sprint Car, Pokorski was fast right out of the trailer, qualifying 13th overall in the strong 35-car field with a lap of 15.565 seconds. After starting on the outside of the front row in the second heat race, the fifth-year Sprint Car campaigner fell back to seventh in the running order. He pulled off the racing surface on lap 7 after experiencing smoke from an overflow of oil. Based on the Jackson Nationals points formula, Alex earned the 17th starting spot in the 24-car A-main field. He drove a smooth and consistent race on the way to a 21st place showing in his first Jackson Nationals 30-lap main event. "I really liked Jackson," Pokorski said. "I felt comfortable right away on the top of the track. As the track changed from track work, we didn't make the right changes. Eventually, the track came back to us as it dried out later in the feature. Being behind at that point, I spent the rest of the race trying to learn how to run the inside berm effectively. It was a bit challenging, but I had fun. It was encouraging to have speed early, and we learned some things on how to set up our car for bigger tracks." Pokorski is planning to make an appearance at the final event of the 2025 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series season on Saturday, Sept. 27, at The Plymouth Dirt Track. As always, regarding car numbers. We do not allow reflective numbers. If your numbers are borderline or not readable, you will need to fix them. You will be given one warning during practice to fix your numbers. Numbers not fixed by race time will result in disqualification, and you will not be allowed to enter the racetrack. Non-Wing Classes must have a number on the nose of your car. The letter must be above the number and legible. Winged Classes must have numbers on both sideboards. All cars must have legible numbers on the tail tank. Car numbers are a max of three digits. That includes the use of a letter. For example, a car can be No. 100, or No. 10x. Not No. 100x. Remember, we have three people hand scoring because sometimes the transponder system does go down, they fall off the car, or just stop working. We need to be able to read all car numbers so you are not scored incorrectly and also to speed up time under caution. It also helps our infield crew to move cars around when a RACEceiver malfunctions. Contrast is important. Black on black with a hint of grey is not readable when a car is in motion, especially from a distance. Finally, once your number is published on the Tulsa Shootout website, it will not be changed. If you do not correctly fill out the required number selection, the Tulsa Shootout will assign a number to you, and it will not be changed. The 41st annual Hyper Racing Tulsa Shootout powered by NOS Energy Drink takes place inside the SageNet Center at Expo Square, located on the Tulsa County Fairgrounds. Cars will hit the track for Practice on the morning of Monday, December 29, 2025, with Heat Races starting the next morning. An update has been made to the engine rules regarding the use of aftermarket connecting rods in the Stock and Outlaw divisions. This change is NOT PERFORMANCE ENHANCING. This is designed to provide teams with a more effective and efficient way to rebuild engines with parts that have been proven to offer greater longevity. - Jordan Thomas Wins $4,220 in Outlaw Fall Nationals
By Curtis Berleue (Dundee, NY) | After showing consistent speed throughout the 2025 season, Jordan Thomas finally broke through into ESS victory lane Friday at the Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY. Notching his third tour victory at the Yates County Oval, Thomas led 19 of 25 laps on his way to the $4,220 Cal Lane Memorial win. By virtue of drawing the Pinnacle Pole award, Jordan Hutton led the field to green alongside Jordan Thomas. Thomas would immediately take control of the field using the high side of the speedway, with third starting Jordan Poirier moving to second and Hutton settling into third. The lead trio remained the same until lap 14, when Jordan Hutton spun on the top side of turn two while working traffic. The ensuing restart allowed Poirier to sneak past Thomas, though his success was short lived as Thomas was able to get back by him to retake the lead just 6 laps later. Poirier's slide backwards continued two laps later, as eighth starting Davie Franek got by him with just three to go. Neither Franek nor Poirier ultimately had anything for Thomas though, as he got to the checkers first for his first tour win of 2025. "In the black slick we were no good," said Thomas in victory lane. "Once he (Poirier) got by me, he was struggling a little bit, I just had to be patient. Even when he was running the top, I could tell he couldn't carry the speed I was." "When we got back by him there, I was just hoping for the laps to count down and hold on." Davie Franek picked up the A-Verdi Storage Containers hard charger award by passing six cars and finishing second. "It was entertaining watching those two guys (Thomas and Poirier) go at it," said Franek. "I wish we didn't start eighth, I think we would have definitely been up there a little bit sooner." Rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium was Jordan Poirier. "We're not good here usually," said Poirier. "When I got the lead I was like 'Okay, we might have something here,' but I was just trying to conserve." "Its good to finally finish on the podium here at Outlaw, it's the first time. We had a good battle with Jordan (Thomas) there." With 17 cars in the pits, the field was split into two timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Jordan Hutton and Dylan Swiernik, while Elab Smokers Boutique heats were won by Davie Franek and Jonathan Preston. - Andy Forsberg surges to another Adobe Cup win at Petaluma Speedway
Petaluma, CA…Andy Forsberg got by Justyn Cox in lapped traffic and went to grab his second consecutive Adobe Cup triumph with the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour on Saturday at Petaluma Speedway. The Auburn veteran piloted the familiar Pacific Highway Rentals No. 92 Sprinter to his eighth career SCCT victory, which ranks fourth on the all-time win list. "The track was hooked up tonight and that is right up my alley as everybody knows," Forsberg said after his third Sprint Car Challenge Tour win of the season. "I grew up racing on tracks like this, so I think it definitely gives me an advantage. Thank you to the entire PHR 92 team for doing a great job and giving me a rocket ship in the feature." The 35-lap Shop Kyle Larson main event got off to a ragged start when Tyler Cato went upside down on the front stretch. He emerged okay but was done for the night. When the Scott Erwin green flag waved for a second time it was outside front row starter Justyn Cox jumping to the early lead. Cox had a fantastic night going and held command over Sean Becker and Andy Forsberg during the early stages. Once traffic came into play it became a high-speed chess match between the top trio as they kept fans on the edge of their seats. With 10 laps complete Forsberg carved his way past Becker and then set his sights on the leader. Cox was working traffic to perfection up till that point, but got caught behind a car on lap 18 and that's all Forsberg needed to slice his way by to assume the point. At the same time Becker slipped under Cox to claim the runner up spot. Forsberg ultimately withstood a few more slowdowns and went on to accept the checkered flag over Cox, who got back by Becker on lap 25. The Clarksburg native had been one of the hottest drivers at Placerville Speedway to end the season and parlayed that into a strong night at Petaluma, where he qualified second, ran second in his heat race, the dash and the main event. Becker, who began the evening by setting the Sierra Foothills Wine Services Fast Time Award, rounded out the podium, with High Sierra Industries Dash winner Brad Bumgarner and Livermore's Travis Labat rounding out the top five. Completing the top 10 in the feature were Pit Stop USA Hard Charger John Clark, Gilroy's Kurt Nelson, point leader Austin Wood of Sacramento, Yuba City's Seth Standley and Marysville's Carson Hammes. The Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour will head next for Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare on Saturday October 4th. The Chris & Brian Faria Memorial acts as the official Trophy Cup Tune-Up race. - Hudson O'Neal Wins Lucas Oil Knoxville Late Model Nationals from 15th
KNOXVILLE, IA (September 20, 2025) - Hudson O'Neal charged from his 15th starting position to win the 21st Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals presented by All Makes Collision Center on Saturday night at Knoxville Raceway. The Martinsville, Indiana driver earned an event record $75,000 for his 34th career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win. In a race with nine lead changes among three drivers, O'Neal finally took the lead for good on lap 57 and then led the last 18 laps to win by 8.368 seconds over Ricky Thornton Jr., Devin Moran, Brandon Sheppard, and Daulton Wilson. Jonathan Davenport and Moran swapped the lead during the first 54 laps of the race, until O'Neal became the third different leader on lap 55. Moran led lap 56, and O'Neal took the lead for the second time on lap 57, then pulled away to dominate the rest of the race. In Lucas Oil Victory Lane, O'Neal becomes the 16th different winner in 21 editions of the crown jewel event. O'Neal and his father Don are the first father-son duo to win the race, with Don having won it in 2011. "I'm tired, man. Riding around that berm was so demanding; it got really rough down there, and I kept telling myself to just breathe. Hats off to my guys—whenever you destroy a race car like that, it definitely hurts. I put a lot of effort into that car to make it to the World 100; it was the car we planned to finish our championship with. That was definitely a morale killer a little bit, but we were able to unload the car the next day, and the guys worked hard to get it ready. To come back and have good speed last night was great—we had a mechanical failure, and to come from 15th is just so awesome," said the 2023 National Champion. "It's been a tough month, but we've been making progress step by step. We've received a lot of help from many different people, including my family and everyone watching back home. These races are so special—these are the ones you dream of adding to your list. This one is so cool. I knew I was really good, and when I was racing with Devin, I didn't feel like I was pushing my limits down there. They were having to run really hard on the track to keep up, and I figured they'd heat their tires and I could slip away from them," said the winner, who became the youngest driver to win the event at age 25. Thornton was the only driver in the top three finishers who did not lead a lap and came in second after passing Moran in the final four laps. "I went much tighter than I did last night; the track never really slowed down like it usually does here. I don't know if it was easier to run around the bottom berm; overall, I'm happy with second. Obviously, Hud was a lot better than all of us; he drove to the front and won by over 8 seconds or whatever it was. Congrats to him. I feel like any time it gets around a berm like that on the bottom, I remember, like at Pittsburgh a few years back, he wore us all out running below the berm. So again, congrats to him for tonight; after flipping on night one, it didn't scare him at all." Moran finished third on the Big River Steel Podium after leading 21 laps. "We just got that bottom to start chunking out a little, and when it did, my nose was just too low, and it kept bouncing and bouncing. I couldn't circle that bottom. Overall, we'll take it. I really felt like we had a really good car for a long part of that race. I could move all around, and JD was having an awesome race. It was so fun to race with him, but obviously Hudson was the best car tonight. At the end, he did a great job — my guys said he was a second faster per lap at the end of the race." The winner's SSI Motorsports, Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Cornett Racing Engine and sponsored by Big River Steel, Wheeler Metals, Triple O, Merrill Bonding Company, Sub Surface of Indiana, Professional Concrete, Cutting and Drilling, West Side Tractor Sales, Dyno One Inc., O'Neal's Salvage and Recycling, Indiana USSSA Fast Pitch Softball, Bob and Tammy Burton, Houchens Insurance Group, Bilstein Shocks, Sunoco Race Fuels, and Bob Cat of Batesville. Completing the top ten were Brian Shirley, Garrett Alberson, Dan Ebert, Tyler Erb, and Donald McIntosh. - JJ Yeley Perfect in Championship Night Victory of Hockett/McMillin with POWRi WAR
Wheatland, MO. (9/20/25) JJ Yeley would reign supreme flawlessly in Championship Night of the 15th Annual Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway, featuring the Wholesale Batteries POWRi WAR/MWRA Challenge Series, running in conjunction with the POWRi Elite Non-Wing Sprint Series presented by Dirt X Ind., to notch his second career feature victory by leading all thirty laps on the way to the checkers. Championship Night, POWRi WAR/MWRA/Elite would find thirty-one talented traditional sprinters witnessing JJ Yeley set the quickest qualifying hot-lap time of 14.940-second lap as Kobe Simpson, Kyle Shipley, Bryson Smith, and JJ Yeley each earned heat racing victories with Samuel Wagner taking semi-feature win. Kick-starting the initial green flag with high-point qualifier JJ Yeley and Kyle Shipley lined up in the front row; JJ Yeley would gain the lead on the opening lap with Kyle Shipley, Riley Kreisel, Landon Simon, and Wyatt Burks contesting for the early top five. Leading smoothly, JJ Yeley would go nearly uncontested in the early stages of the thirty-lap feature, with all eyes glued on the five-car battle for the second spot between Kyle Shipley, Landon Simon, Wesley Smith, Riley Kreisel, and Wyatt Burks, as racing contact exiting turn two would cause Kreisel to spin, then retaliate on Landon Simon under caution, forcing a Kreisel disqualification in both divisions. Holding steady out front over the final laps, JJ Yeley would hold on to capture the feature checkers by leading all thirty laps of the main event, with a quickly closing Jack Wager taking second spot from starting ninth as Kyle Shipley completed the final podium placements. "I really like this place, that was so much fun, I knew Jack was getting close late, what a race, what a place, what an event; feels great to win a race through earning it," said JJ Yeley in the Lucas Oil Speedway victory lane. Adding "Brand new car this weekend, it was a nightmare last night, and completely different tonight, just a pleasure to drive it." Challenging closely behind would find Wesley Smith finish fourth as Landon Simon rounded out the top-five finishers for the Wholesale Batteries Inc. - Newton, Yeley earn final-night Hockett-McMillin Memorial feature wins
WHEATLAND, MO. (Sept. 20, 2025) - A relative newcomer to the American open-wheel racing scene and an old pro scored feature wins on Saturday night as the 15th annual Jesse Hockett-Daniel McMillin Memorial concluded at Lucas Oil Speedway. Australian Ryan Newton won for only the second time in the United States as he led the final 11 circuits of the POWRi 410 Outlaw Sprint feature. Meanwhile, NASCAR and open-wheel veteran J.J. Yeley was a wire-to-wire winner in the POWRi WAR non-winged main event. The Hockett-McMillin Memorial recognizes the legacy of Jesse Hockett, from Warsaw, Mo., who was a star in both the winged and non-wing sprint divisions when he lost his life in a shop accident in 2010. His cousin and crew chief, Daniel McMillin, was killed in an automobile accident in 2006. Newton earns POWRi 410 Outlaw win: Newton took the lead on lap 20 and held off Hank Davis and Landon Crawley and two late restarts to earn the POWRi 410 victory, worth $10,000 to the driver from Sunshine Coast, Queensland. It was the first POWRi 410 Sprint feature win for the 30-year-old driver from down under. "It's my biggest win in the States and probably Australia as well," Newton said in victory lane. "We struggled a little bit (Friday) night in the feature and tonight we tried a a few different things and changed my driving up a little bit. I had a super fast car in the feature and I was able to get past Landon. "It's my second win in the USA. These aren't easy to get and I can't thank everyone enough who helps me out. It's just awesome." Crawley started outside of row one and set the early pace, beating pole-starting Kyle Jones to the lead. Crawley led the first 10 laps, but Jones closed in and was dueling for the lead the next time around as the two went through lapped traffic. Jones grabbed the lead out of turn four on lap 12, but caution waved before the lap was completed. The lineup reverted to the previous lap, meaning Crawley brought the field to the green on the restart. Crawley got away to a 1.1-second lead by the race's midway point on lap 15 over the fifth-starting Newton with Davis third and Jones fourth. Newton whittled the leader's margin to .111 second over the next three laps. Newton grabbed the lead headed into turn one on lap 20, then got through lapped cars to open a 1.5-second lead in just two laps. He was off and running from there as Crawley struggled to stay within two seconds. Newton's lead was up to 1.8 seconds when Friday's feature winner Clinton Boyles, who was running third, hit the turn-four wall and flipped his car on its side on lap 26. That set up a four-lap shootout for the win. On the restart, Newton traded a slider with Crawley in turn two and had a 1.2-second lead on lap 28 when Jones spun into the wall to bring out one more caution. That gave Crawley and Davis one more shot at overtaking Newton over two laps. Newton executed a flawless restart and drove to the win by 1.3 seconds over Davis with Crawley third, Zach Daum fourth and Joe B. Miller fifth. "This is an awesome facility and an awesome race track and we're glad we made the trip here," Newton said. Ironically, it was the second straight year a driver from Australia won the POWRi 410 Sprint portion of the Hockett-McMillin Memorial as Scott Bogucki prevailed in 2024. Davis, of Sand Springs, Okla., said his car was strong but just not quite strong enough. "The car was good. We just weren't as good as the 66," Davis said, tipping his hat to the winner. "Those guys have that thing rolling. I think on that first restart he got in front of me and who knows? If I get out front, maybe I can set the pace, but it's not how it happened." POWRi WAR win to Yeley: A long-time NASCAR Cup Series veteran with an extensive open-wheel background came home the winner in the POWRi WAR feature as J.J. Yeley led all 30 laps. He held off a charging Jack Wagner of Lone Jack, Mo, late in the non-winged feature to earn $5,077. "I really like this place. That was fun," Yeley said in victory lane. "I knew Jesse for a long time. He drove for my dad and was a true stand-up guy. Brand new car. It was a nightmare yesterday, but had brakes, had gas and everything it needed today. "We kept tuning on it and made some adjustments for the feature. I'm here to win this thing, I don't want to run second. We tightened the hell of this thing and was way too tight, but I hope the fans enjoyed it. Not that I wanted to make it too close, but it's nice to win a race and earn it." Yeley, of Charlotte, N.C., started on the pole and needed only seven laps to open a 1.1-second leader over fellow front-row starter Kyle Shipley. Wyatt Burks had moved from seventh to third by lap eight and that's when the first caution came out for a two-car spin. Burks took over second on lap 11, pulling within three car lengths of Yeley with Shipley also in the mix. Fifth-running Riley Kreisel hit the wall coming off turn two on lap 13 to bring out another caution as the top three were within a half-second of one another. As action resumed, Yeley cleared away to a 1.2-second lead over Landon Simon by lap 18. Shipley claimed back into second by lap 20, but found himself with nearly two seconds to make up on the leader with 10 to go. Yeley's lead was wiped out, however, with a lap-23 caution as Chad Goff came to a stop in turn two. That left the running order Yeley, Shipley and Jack Wagner with seven remaining. Wagner used the restart to get around Shipley, but Yeley maintained the lead and was able to hold on the rest of the way. Yeley beat Wagner by .838 seconds at the finish. "What a race, what a blast, what a facility," said Yeley, 48, who's made 398 NASCAR Cup starts over a 20-year career. "This (win) ranks way up there. I've known the Hockett family for a lot of years." Wagner, driving the Hockett-family-owned No. 77, was ecstatic about his run from 11th to the runner-up spot. "I've been here once before standing on the podium and it's been years," Wagner said. "To get back here is great, coming on as strong as we did with six laps to go. I figured we had something for these guys and J.J. just shot out of a cannon and absolutely left us." Shipley wound up third with Wesley Smith fourth and Simon fifth.
