- SANDERS WIN NARC THRILLER TO CLAIM PAY DIRT AT PLACERVILLE SPEEDWAY
(9/6/25 - Andrew Kunas) Placerville, CA ... After leaving for a month to pursue other racing opportunities, Justin Sanders made his triumphant return to the NARC King of the West sprint car scene, as he fought his way through traffic and made a late winning pass to score a $5000 Pay Dirt Showdown victory Saturday at Placerville Speedway. Sanders started the 30-lap feature outside the second row and early on passed Dylan Bloomfield to move into the third position, before quickly going after pole sitter Justyn Cox for second. Making that move into the runner-up spot, Sanders then set his sights on race leader Sean Becker. Becker survived an assault by Cox in the opening two laps, withstanding slide job attempts and close quarters between cars on the ¼-mile bullring and then taking off from there with the lead. Becker, however, then was forced to contend with constant traffic on the small oval. That allowed Sanders to close in and challenge during the middle and latter parts of the race. Becker at times made key passes around slower cars to keep Sanders at bay. As the laps winded down, traffic thickened for Becker and left him struggling to find a path around as the race reached five laps to go. That's when Sanders finally pounced, getting a run around the bottom side of Turns 3 and 4 as Becker was held up by a pair of slower cars right in front of him. Sanders scooted by Becker as they exited the fourth turn to lead the 26th lap. Sanders led the final five laps to take his series leading seventh NARC win of the season aboard the Yuba Sutter Aviation-sponsored Mittry Motorsports No. 2x Fisher-powered KPC. Sanders knew Becker was second in NARC points entering the night and was competing for the championship. Because of that, Sanders said he wanted to pass Becker clean and waited for the opportunity to do so as they raced in traffic. "Sean was running a good race. He was switching up his lines and really making me think about what I had to do to get closer. I looked up on the board on Lap 23 and I was like 'I don't know if I'm going to get this' and then we got into traffic and I made it stick on the bottom," said Sanders, who again also praised the Mittry Motorsports team. "Awesome to be back in the 2x. Nice to be back home with these guys. Happy to get another 410 win." Bloomfield made the late pass around Becker in the closing laps to take the runner-up spot and finished there aboard the Gary Silva Ranches-sponsored Vertullo Racing No. 83v Kistler-powered Maxim. Saturday's race was Vertullo Racing's final NARC start before the team relocates to the Midwest after decades as one of the most recognizable cars in California. After leading 25 laps, Becker finished third aboard the D&J Construction Rental-sponsored Bjork Construction No. 7b Shaver-powered Maxim and shaved a few points off D.J. Netto's point lead. After starting on the pole, Cox eventually finished fourth aboard the BERCO Redwood-sponsored Bates Hamilton Racing No. 42x Kistler-powered Maxim. Gauge Garcia ran in the Top 5 throughout and finished fifth in the Monarch Ford-sponsored Keller Motorsports No. 2k Speedway-powered Triple X. Netto finished sixth to maintain his points lead. Chance Grasty, Jesse Schlotfeldt, Kaleb Montgomery and Bud Kaeding rounded out the Top 10. Montgomery earned the Williams Roofing Hard Charger nod, coming from 16th to finish ninth. Cox won the Beacon Wealth Strategies Trophy Dash to claim the pole position for the feature. Heat races earlier in the evening were won by Bloomfield, Netto and Cox. Grasty paced the 23-car field in Automotive Racing Products Qualifying with a time of 10.217 seconds around the ¼-mile bullring clay oval. - Grant scores record-breaking win in USAC Sprint Rod End Supply Dirt Duel at Lucas Oil Speedway
WHEATLAND, MO. (Sept. 6, 2025) - Justin Grant made USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship history on Saturday night by winning the Rod End Supply Diamond Dirt Duel at Lucas Oil Speedway. Grant, a native of Ione, Calif., took the lead on lap eight and never surrendered it, outlasting Jake Swanson for the 63rd series win of his career. It sent him past Dave Darland for the most wins in tour history and was his 100th career feature win across all USAC divisions, just the eighth driver to reach the century mark. "I don't really know what to say," Grant said in victory lane. "I'm really excited and I can't thank everybody enough. I absolutely love driving sprint cars, particularly non-wing sprint cars. And I love USAC and I love everything about what we do. To be the all-time winner is just absolutely incredible. I've poured my life into this sport and into this discipline and am trying to get better and better at it. "It almost felt more special to tie Dave Darling than to pass him. He's an absolute legend and a hero. I shared something on Facebook (Saturday) about him going into the Indiana Sports Hall of Fame and wanted to make note that we're all now reaping the benefits of the things that Dave Darling did for our sport." The 30-lap feature saw the fourth-starting Grant close in on Wesley Smith, who started on the pole and led early, when caution flew on lap four after Clinton Boyles spun on the backstretch. Smith had a good restart and opened an eight-car-length lead, but by lap six Grant once again was knocking on the door with Swanson joining the battle in third. Grant was able to take the lead sliding past Smith on the inside out of turn four to complete lap eight. Grant was off the running from there, leading by more than a second as he caught lapped traffic by lap 12. As Smith and Swanson dueled, Grant was driving away up front. But a lap-16 caution for a pair of cars off the pace bunched the leaders for another restart. Wyatt Burks worked his way into third on the restart with Swanson applying pressure to Grant. Swanson kept chipping away running a lower groove as the laps clicked by and the two dealt with slower cars. Grant was able to hang on and capture his milestone victory - then climb gingerly from the car to celebrate. He suffered a broken left foot in a racing accident on July 27 at Lawrenceburg Speedway and drives with a specially-fitted boot on the surgically repaired foot. "I can't thank all the people behind me enough. My wife Ashley, my parents, my grandma," Grant said. "Everybody that supports me. It hasn't been an easy weekend. We've been changing everything and working my guys to death and they're about sick of me, but it pays off when you win for them." Grant paid special tribute to car owner Kevin Birchmeier. "We've been through some really high highs and low lows together," Grant said. "I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Kevin. He supports me 100 percent." Swanson, of Anaheim, Calif., said he felt like he had a shot at tracking down Grant. While proud of his strong run, it also was frustrating. "I was driving my (butt) off, but he did a good job and didn't make any mistakes," Swanson said. "Obviously, he's one of the greatest to do this. It stings. I felt we had the best race car." Burks came home in third with Michel Moles fourth and Logan Seavey fifth in USAC's first appearance at Lucas Oil Speedway in 19 years. Logan Seavey set a new track record for non-wing sprints for his eighth fast-time of the season award on the series with a lap of 14.928 seconds. Brady Bacon (15.159, Sept. 8, 2006) held the previous record. USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship season points leader Kyle Cummins started 11th and finished ninth. Simon wins INEX Legends feature: Trenton Simon of Joplin led all 20 laps to grab the INEX Legends feature win, beating Austin Azeez by 2.6 seconds. It was Simon's 14th win of the season. Simon had built up a 3.5-second lead over Azeez when caution on lap nine slowed the action and took away his big margin. It didn't take long for Simon to check out again after the restart and he dominated the remaining 11, caution-free laps. "It was really a matter of finding out what the track was. I hadn't been here in a while," Simon said. "We made adjustments as the night went on and it paid off in the end." Jay Reynolds finished third with Justin Comer fourth and Jett Stovall fifth after starting 16th. The Legends portion of the program was sponsored by Outlaw Plumbing. LUCAS OIL SPEEDWAY UNOFFICIAL. - Jedrzejek dominates at Fremont; Henry earns AFCS title
FREMONT, Ohio - Kasey Jedrzejek was a man on a mission Saturday, Sept. 6 at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction on Baumann Auto Group Night. The 20-year-old from Lagrange, Ohio cut a tire leading the previous night and set out to prove how fast his Ed Neumeister Racing team is, winning by over four seconds in the 30 non-stop laps of the 410 sprint A-main for his second victory of the year at "The Track That Action Built." Jedrzejek, who won the 305 sprint feature Friday at Attica, scored his third 410 sprint victory of 2025 aboard his Mr. Heater, Heat Star, Cherry's Outdoor World, Cherry's Propane, Team Line'm Up, Ronda Jedrzejek at Howard Hanna, Sips & Such Social House, Perfection Fabricators, Greber Racing Components, Dibaggio Family, Southgate Lanes, Nagy Coatings, Fisher Custom Printing, Stars & Stripes Tool, Heitmeyer Concrete backed #11N. "I got to start on the front row with my buddy Mike (Keegan) thanks to him rolling the eight inversion. We've been pretty good here all season. Once I got by the lapped cars…a few in one lap and I felt pretty good about that and didn't have too much pressure. I have to thank Ed for giving me this opportunity and John, Kent Jason… they all did a good job working on the car all week. We swapped an engine after last night," said Jedrzejek. Keegan led the first seven laps before Jedrzejek took over and drove away to his third career win at Fremont. Zeth Sabo who won the previous night at Attica came home second with Cap Henry, Keegan and Nate Dussel rounding out the top five. Henry wrapped up his fourth championship in the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group. It's his third straight series title. "It was a really good weekend. Obviously when you've been as good as we have this year (15 wins) you want to keep winning races but you can't win them all. Howdy (Zeth Sabo) was good last night and the 11N car was good tonight. I'm proud of my guys. We've put a really good season together. To come in here tonight and have the title wrapped up is pretty cool and it shows how hard my guys have worked all year," said Henry. Zack Kramer led the first nine laps of the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints feature before fourth starter Logan Riehl took over. Riehl, the division's rookie of the year in 2020, steadily pulled away while Dustin Stroup moved into second. Riehl got an excellent restart following a caution with just four laps to go and drove to his first win of the season, his second career victory at Fremont, over Stroup, Steve Rando, Kramer and Seth Schneider. "Beginning of the year we had a bunch of motor issues. We got that figured out and then we had parts failures. I don't remember last time we finished a race. I knew at the beginning of the race we had a really good car and I just had to hit my marks. I have to thank RCF Chassis, my dad and mom, my fiancée and everyone on the car," said Riehl beside his Riehl Custom Fabrication and Repair, Cornerstone Farms, Bascom Diesel Supply, Larry Riehl, Milligan's Irish Pub backed #9R. Jamie Miller wrapped up his third Real Geese Decoys/Real Capz Attica Fremont Championship Series title. "We've been struggling the past few weeks after starting the season so strong. We gained on it tonight and we will get back to where we were. It feels good to win another AFCS championship," said Miller. Chuck Roelle led the opening lap of the Burmeister Trophy Dirt Truck feature before Kent Brewer took over. Following a caution on lap five, eighth starter Shawn Valenti drove into second and quickly challenged Brewer. The duo put on a heck of a show battling for the lead with Valenti taking over the top spot on lap 11. Following a caution on lap 13, Valenti and Brewer again resumed their entertaining battle for the lead with Keith Sorg joining in the fun. A caution on the white flag lap set up a green-white-checker finish and Valenti held off Brewer for his seventh victory of the season. Valenti now has 89 career wins at Fremont to lead all drivers in the track's history. He hasn't finished out of the top two at Fremont all season long. Brewer, Sorg, Dan Hennig and Craig Dippman rounded out the top five." "This thing has been amazing. I never dreamed I'd get one win here let alone 89 now. I have to thank Jeff Babcock, Squirrel, my wife and kids," said Valenti beside his Craig Miller Trucking, Conrad Transportation, Dave Story Equipment, A Plus Auto Center, Smolders Speed Concepts, Holman Drilling, S&S Hauling and Excavating backed #7B. Fremont Speedway will be back in action Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12 and 13 for the 18th Annual Jim Ford Classic. The dirt trucks join the NAPA Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions on Friday while the 305 sprints join the All Stars on Saturday. It's championship weekend for the All Stars. - Sabo gets 410 win, Henry Attica title; Moore takes late model win and track title; Jedrzejek gets 305 win and Schneider gets track title
ATTICA, Ohio - Zeth Sabo has been so close to winning a 410 sprint car feature in 2025 only to see some mechanical issues or some bizarre circumstance get in the way. The Tiffin, Ohio driver was able to put together a very solid night Friday, Sept. 5, at Attica Raceway Park to score his third career win at the track on Ferguson Waterworks/Kistler Racing Products/Custom Chrome Plating Presents the Mark Keegan Classic. It looked like Kasey Jedrzejek, fresh off his first All Star Circuit of Champions win on Aug. 31 at Wayne County Speedway, was going to get his first 410 sprint win of the year at Attica as he led the first 16 laps. A flat front tire sent him to the pits and handed the lead to Sabo, who had stayed within striking distance the first half of the race. Sabo, aboard his Level Utilities/NAPA Auto Parts/Limo Scene Limo Services/Kiser Sound/Valvoline/Linder's Speed Equipment/Adaptive OWE/BSE Fabrication backed machine, had to hold off a late race challenge in lapped traffic from Cap Henry and claimed an additional $1,000 bonus for claiming the bounty on Henry. "I can't thank my guys enough. We've been busting tail lately and just weird things have happened that we've never had happen before. I have to thank Rich and Shelly Farmer for letting me do what I've always wanted to do and letting all of us go the races every weekend. To do this on the last night of the year at Attica on the Mark Keegan Classic is pretty cool," said Sabo. Henry, who won the last four features in a row at Attica, settled for second and claimed his third straight Callie's Performance Products 410 Sprint track title, his fourth overall at the track. Craig Mintz, Trey Jacobs and Mike Keegan rounded out the top five. "I really wanted to win that race. We've never won the Mark Keegan Classic. I'm proud of my guys. It's been a really good year. Minus the Outlaw shows we had a 100 percent podium rate here," said Henry. Henry's runner-up finish wrapped up his third straight and fourth overall championship in the Kistler Racing Products/All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group and its $10,000 top prize. Ken Hahn led the first two laps of the Dirt Nerds Podcast Powered by Propane UMP Late Model feature before Mike Bores took over for two laps surrendering the lead to Devin Shiels on lap six with fourth starter Kyle Moore taking over the lead on lap seven. Moore battled Shiels for a hand full of laps before pulling away to score his fifth Attica win of 2025 aboard his Kepling Flooring, Tye Tworg Longhorn, Joyride Transportation, Smitley Towing, Short Stop, Malcuit Race Engines, Wilson Realty, Robin Jakubick, RL Bond Septic, Hepthorn Golf Cart Sales, House of Spud, K&B Septic Service, Coffman Composites, Team Midwest Paint, Platinum Design backed #1*. His 11th career win at Attica brings his total feature win tally to 19 overall in 2025 and came over Shiels, Ryan Markham, JR Gentry and Gregg Haskell. Moore earned his second straight Attica late model championship as well. "This is a great facility. The fans are the best and thanks to Justin Liskai and the Bores family for being stand-up people. They went to bat for me this week and I appreciate it. Without Justin and John Bores I wouldn't have been here tonight. There's some stuff going on behind the scenes and it will take care of itself. I want to thank my crew, my brother Brad, Froggy, Barry, Team Skinny, my family and everyone on this car," said Moore. Jedrzejek got a little redemption in the Fremont Fence 305 A-main, leading all 25 laps for his fifth career division win at Attica. Dustin Stroup, Blayne Keckler (from 11th), Jimmy McGrath (from 18th) and Seth Schneider rounded out the top five. "Jimmy (Taddeo, car owner) brings the best stuff to the track and gives us the best chance every time we come out with this car," said Jedrzejek beside his Greber Racing Components, KMU Residential, UD Maintenance, John Wright Custom Chrome, Ronda Jedrzejek at Howard Hanna, Heat Star, Mr. Heater, Fisher Custom Printing, Northern Ohio Septic and Sewer, A+Creations, Amherst Auto Body backed #4T. Schneider, from Fremont, earned his first ever Attica track championship. "I slowed up and didn't take any chances the last part of that race…I didn't want to screw up. This track championship means a lot. I was pretty much garbage for about two to three seasons in a row coming into this season and I have to thank my wife…she could have told me to quit. Kevin put a lot of effort and money into this car and it's been bad ass. Aaron Hammer and Guy Myers put a lot of effort into this car and it's been pretty awesome," said Schneider. Jamie Miller was scheduled to start on the pole for the feature but mechanical issues forced him to the tail and he charged to a ninth place finish. However, the points battle for the Real Geese/Design Graphics Group/ Real Capz Attica Fremont Championship Series for the 305 sprints will now come down to Saturday, Sept. 6 at Fremont Speedway. The staff at Attica Raceway Park thanks all the fans, race teams and marketing partners for another fantastic year of racing and looks for to March 2026 to do it all again. - USAC Sprint leader Cummins aims for more Lucas Oil Speedway magic at Rod End Supply Diamond Dirt Duel
WHEATLAND, MO. (Sept. 4, 2025) - When Kyle Cummins makes just his second appearance at Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday, the Indiana native can only hope things go as well as his previous time on the Wheatland dirt. It was 2018 when Cummins drove to victory in the non-winged portion of the Jesse Hockett-Daniel McMillin Memorial. That remains one of the memorable wins that Cummins, 38, has picked up during his successful open-wheel racing career. "We ran like third or fourth on our prelim night and then won the finale," Cummins said. "I have not been there since, but definitely looking forward to seeing how things go this time. That's a very, very nice place with everything. The pits, the grandstands. It's a nice facility. "We didn't take many notes back in the day, but hopefully we have a little bit of thought. At least I've ran there once so I know a little bit how the track works." Cummins continues his pursuit of a USAC AMSOIL National Sprint championship on Saturday when USAC returns to Wheatland for the first time since 2006 for the Rod End Supply Diamond Dirt Duel. The 30-lap feature will pay $6,000 to the winner. Cummins, a second-generation open-wheel racer from Princeton, Ind., leads the championship standings by 258 points over Mitchel Moles of Raisin City, California. Logan Seavey, of Cutter, California., is third 276 behind Cummins. After a fast start to the season, with a feature win in the opener at Volusia Speedway Park and five feature wins in the first 11 events, Cummins has put himself in great position to win his first USAC championship in his second season with Petty Performance Racing. "We started the season really strong and kind of had some bad luck here and there," Cummins said. "We've got the monkey off our back a little bit of late and found some stuff with the car. We're on car number three now. We've tore up some stuff and kind of learning this one. "All in all we're pretty excited about how things are going and looking forward to finishing these last 15 races strong and trying to get a couple of more wins and have a good finish to the season." Following in the footsteps of his father, Mark Cummins, since opening in open karts at age nine, Kyle Cummins developed into one of the top sprint car racers in the Midwest. He's the all-time winningest driver of the Midwest Sprint Car Series and a five-time champion in that series. It wasn't until a fast start to the USAC National Tour in 2023 that Cummins began to think about chasing a national championship. He faded that season and realized that upgrades were needed to pursue such an endeavor. "The last two years we've decided to run for it and be fully prepared, have all the stuff ready," Cummins said. "We built this new team with Petty Performance and that's been the goal. Last year was kind of a building season, to take some notes and do a lot of trial and error, working some stuff with the car to give us a really good baseline. "We started out this season really strong and that's been the goal from the get-go, from at least 2024 that was the plan, to win the championship." Cummins said the competition level on the USAC National series is rugged. There's no such thing as resting on your laurels, even with a sizable points lead. "It seems like the top 8-10 guys could win any night. It's definitely tough," Cummins said. "Everyone has the same goal, they all want to win. It's like all sports, any one can win on a given night and you just give it your best shot and see how things go. "We have a decent-sized lead. We just need to finish out strong and not let up and hopefully the last couple of races we won't have any pressure and can just go out and have fun." Cummins won the 2018 Hockett-McMillin by leading all 30 laps of the feature, outlasting Wyatt Burks and Colton Cottle for the win. While he didn't know Jesse Hockett well, that win remains a special one. "I know a lot of people have come there trying to win it and for us to show up the first time and win it, that was pretty exciting," Cummins said. "To kind of look back over your career and see some of those more prestigious wins, that makes it a little more special." INEX Legends in for Super Stocks as support class: A late schedule switch will see INEX Legends running as support class on Saturday. In April, Lucas Oil Speedway had the opportunity to add the USAC National Sprints and, at that time, it was decided that the Hickamo Super Stocks would be the support division. This was scheduled not knowing it conflicted with Nevada Speedway's Lehmann Memorial. Lucas Oil Speedway feels it's important for all local tracks to be mindful of their neighbors' special events, so the Hickamo Super Stocks will not run this Saturday with those competitors encouraged to support Nevada Speedway. Lucas Oil Speedway's pit gates open at 3 p.m. Saturday with grandstands at 4 p.m., hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7:05. Grandstand General Admission: Adults (13 and up) - $28 Seniors (62 and over & military) - $25 Youth (ages 6-12) - $10 Kids (5 and under) - FREE Family pass (two adults and up to three youth) - $66 Pit pass - $45 (Credit/debit card fees will be applied at time of purchase at gates) For information on admission or camping for any Lucas Oil Speedway event in 2025, contact Admissions Director Nichole McMillan at (417) 282-6119 or (417) 295-6043 or email her at nmcmillan@lucasoilspeedway.com for more information. - Showdown in September at Can-Am Next For Empire Super Sprints
By Curtis Berleue (LaFargeville, NY) | Following one of the biggest weekends on the 2025 schedule, the Empire Super Sprints are right back in action again this weekend, this time at the Can-Am Speedway in LaFargeville, NY on Saturday September 6. Dubbed the 'Showdown in September', the tour will headline the second night of action at the track located just north of Watertown, NY. In two visits so far in 2025, two different winners graced victory lane at Can-Am. In July for the opener of CNY Speedweek, Dylan Swiernik topped the field. Just last month at the beginning of August, it was Shawn Donath who recorded his first victory of the season in the north country. This weekend, the tour would also like to welcome Cook's Hardware Center on board as the presenting sponsor of the Cobra Motorhomes & Trailers dash. Cook's Hardware Center is a full service, locally owned hardware store that offers plumbing and heating services, located on Sand Street in Philadelphia, NY. With just three point-paying shows left in 2025, the points battle is in full swing. Three time and defending champion Jordan Poirier remains at the top of the standings with a 179 point lead Dylan Swiernik in second place. Davie Franek sits in third, 159 points behind Swiernik, while Jason Barney is just fourteen points behind Franek in fourth. Shawn Donath completes the top five in the standings. For gate times and prices, along with a schedule of events for Saturday's event at Can-Am can be found on the tracks social media pages and website, along with the Empire Super Sprints social media pages.
