- NARC SPRINT CARS HEAD TO CHICO ON SATURDAY FOR THE DAVID TARTER MEMORIAL
(6/2/25 - Andrew Kunas) Chico, CA ... A busy stretch for the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series continues this Saturday with the 12th running of the David Tarter Memorial at Silver Dollar Speedway. Saturday's show, NARC's second and final visit to the Chico ¼-mile this season, honors the memory of Tarter, who died at the age of 30 in 2012 when a freak accident in the pit area took his life. The first David Tarter Memorial was run in 2013, won by Oroville's Sean Becker, and the event has since become a staple at Silver Dollar Speedway, where Tarter was a regular participant and former track rookie of the year. Saturday's 35-lap main event will pay $5,035 to win. Reigning NARC champion Justin Sanders of Aromas won last year's David Tarter Memorial on his way to the title and is expected to be one of the favorites as he was also a winner of the thrilling Mini-Gold Cup in April aboard the Mittry Motorsports No. 2x. Dominic Gorden of Clovis is coming off a big win in last Saturday's Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial at Placerville Speedway. Gorden finished 16th in April's Mini-Gold Cup, but Gorden and the Fortitude Driver Development No. 10 team is hoping his second NARC victory serves as a springboard and creates momentum for the young driver going forward. Of the 11 prior times the David Tarter Memorial has been run, former NARC champion Kyle Hirst has the most victories in the event with five checkered flags. Sanders is the only other multi-time winner of the race. WHO TO WATCH Tanner Holmes and the Tarlton Motorsports No. 21T team have seen success together this season, including one NARC victory at the Morrie Williams Memorial, but Saturday's event will be their last together for a time as Holmes will shortly return to his family's no. 18T. At that point, Australian star James McFadden will jump into the Tarlton car for the next several weeks starting with next week's Fastest Five Days in Motorsports. Holmes nearly won the Mini-Gold Cup in a thrilling finish, narrowly losing out to Sanders. Returning to Chico this weekend, the Holmes and Tarlton team are hoping to improve by one spot to close out their first run together. Shane Golobic is another driver who has had success at Silver Dollar Speedway over the years. The Fremont driver has finished in the Top 10 in each regular NARC feature this season and that includes three podium finishes. Coming off a runner-up finish in the Dave Bradway Jr Memorial, Golobic is a driver due for another NARC victory. Other drivers expected to compete this weekend include former series champion DJ Netto from Hanford, Oregon's Tyler Thompson, Fresno drivers Dominic Scelzi and Mariah Ede, Templeton's Kaleb Montgomery, Oroville's Sean Becker, Campbell's Bud Kaeding, Lemoore's Gauge Garcia, Easton's Caeden Steele, Benicia's Billy Aton, Lincoln's Tanner Carrick and many more. FAN INFO Silver Dollar Speedway is located at the Silver Dollar Fair on 2343 Fair St in Chico. BCRA Lightning sprints will be racing also. Tickets are $30 for adults, while seniors 65+ and juniors 13-17 are in for $25. Kids 12 and under are in for free. Silver Dollar Speedway will also be racing sprint cars on Friday night, giving fans two nights of racing action this weekend. - Poirier Wins First ESS Visit to Brighton
By Curtis Berleue (Brighton, ONT) | For the second time in as many nights, Jordan Poirier found himself on the podium with the Empire Super Sprints. This time, however, it was one spot better than Friday as he picked up the win at the Brighton Speedway in the tours first ever visit to the Canadian oval. Starting on the Pinnacle Pole was Skyler Evans, and Evans jumped out to an early lead on the field. That, however, was short lived as fourth starting Shawn Donath made quick work of the cars in front of him and jumped out to the lead on lap two. Behind Donath, 6th-starting Jordan Poirier was on a similar trajectory as he moved up to second in just three laps. As the laps clicked off, Poirier held pace and inched ever closer to Donath. On lap 16, Poirier was able to pounce on Donath and grab the lead. Just two laps later, Logan Crisafulli, who started in 7th. He ultimately wouldn't have anything for Poirier though, as the Quebec driver sailed to victory lane for his first win of 2025. "My car was really, really good everywhere," said Poirier in victory lane. "It was classic Brighton, they just put a little bit of water on (before the feature) and it made the track come back alive. The track was perfect tonight." Logan Crisafulli would hang on for second, his first podium of 2025. "It was fun, the track picked up speed quick," said Crisafulli. "It was really fun. I would definitely like to come back again." Rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery Podium was Alex Therrien. "The top was very good at the beginning of the race," said Therrien. "At the end, the bottom was too though so I tried my best to pick the right line." 28 cars lined the pits for the Empire Super Sprints first visit to Brighton, dividing the field into three timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Davie Franek, Alex Therrien, and Shawn Donath. Elab Smokers Boutique heat races were won by Logan Crisafulli, Dale Curran, and Skyler Evans. The Lacaillade Masonry B-Main was won by Jordan Thomas. The next scheduled event for the Empire Super Sprints is this coming Saturday June 7th at the Freedom Motorsports Park in Delevan, NY. Placerville, CA…Andy Forsberg led all 35 laps to claim his sixth career Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour victory on Friday evening during the inaugural running of the Davy Thomas Memorial- Prelude to the Bradway. Forsberg's win aboard the familiar Pacific Highway Rentals No. 92 topped a stout 45 car field and marked his 75th career Winged Sprint Car triumph at Placerville Speedway. He took home over $5,000 in cash and prizes for his efforts. "It feels great to get a win in memory of Davy Thomas here tonight," Forsberg said in victory lane. "We started the night by going out last in qualifying and luckily were able to still hit a good lap. This was a great field of cars so it's awesome to be standing up here tonight with SCCT." Forsberg took the lead at the waving of the green flag in the Shop Kyle Larson feature and never looked back, despite some challenges at times from different competitors. Youngster Austin Wood took over the runner up spot around lap 15 and attempted to do something with the veteran. Sunday winner in Marysville, Justin Sanders then climbed forward as he often does and got into third with 10 laps remaining. After moving into second on lap 30 Sanders and Wood closed quickly in traffic on the leader, only to have caution bring things to a halt. Following that, Forsberg cut some clean and smooth laps to pull away and take the Ed Entz checkered flag for the big win. Sanders crossed the stripe in second ahead of Fremont's Shane Golobic who rounded out the podium. Oakley's Dylan Bloomfield put on a solid charge from 16th to fourth while Wood completed the podium. The remainder of the top 10 was filled out 19th starting Shane Hopkins, Chance Grasty, Pit Stop USA Hard Charger Tanner Holmes, Braden Chiaramonte and Seth Standley. Holmes took home over $2,000 for winning the Hard Charger Award in memory of Gene Freeman. - All Stars Lynn Paxton EMMR Classic Pays 8K To Win Friday - Wingless sportsman race in two mains
Mechanicsburg - The NAPA All Stars Circuit of Champions Sprints return to Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night, June 6 for the Associated Builders and Contractors Lynn Paxton EMMR Legends Classic. The 30-lap All Stars main meant to honor late Williams Grove champion and racing historian Lynn Paxton of Dillsburg will pay the winner $8,000 for the victory. A champion both on and off the track, Paxton passed away late in 2024, leaving behind 43 Williams Grove sprint wins and a trio of track titles. Special pre-race activities to honor Paxton will take place in the infield. Interviews with family and colleagues will take place and restored Paxton sprint cars will be on display. After a year on hiatus, the All Stars circuit has returned to their travels for the 2025 racing season and they made sure to put a date at Williams Grove on their itinerary. The history of All Stars action at the oval dates back to 1970 when Bobbie Adamson trumped the original invaders aboard the Al Hamilton No. 77. Since then a total of 47 main events have been run at Williams Grove under the All Stars banner but it took until 2019 for an All Stars regular to drive to victory at the historic oval. Aaron Reutzel of Clute, Texas, scored that first series win at the track before adding two more to his Grove win total. Kyle Larson took a pair of All Stars wins at the Grove as an independent in 2019 and in 2020. Lance Dewease is the most recent series winner at the speedway having scored a show in 2023. A band of young guns comprises the 2025 All Stars series roster that will invade including teenagers Bobby Elliott of Armada, MI., Leyton Wagner of Enon Valley, PA., Darin Naida of Adrian, MI., Creed Kemenah of Findlay, OH., and Aiden Price of Huntersville, NC. The teens on the roster are joined by twenty-something pilots Kalib Henry of Sacramento, CA., Zane Devault of Plymouth, IN., Cody Bova of Struthers, OH., and Devon Borden of Raymond, WA. Others on the tour this season include two-time All Stars series champion Greg Wilson of Benton Ridge, OH., Brandon Spithaler of Bulter, PA., and Van Gurley Jr., of Valparaiso, IN. The band of All Stars travelers will invade Williams Grove to battle the Pennsylvania Posse including Anthony Macri, Freddie Rahmer, Danny Dietrich, Brock Zearfoss and many others. The All Stars race at Williams Grove on June 6 will be one of only two races by the series in Central Pennsylvania this season. The event is part of the 2025 Hoosier Diamond Series at the oval and the wingless super sportsman join the 410 sprints on the racing card. The sportsman will complete two features on the night, making up their main event held over from May 23. Event sponsor Associated Builders and Contractors is a national U.S. trade association representing the non-union construction industry. ABC is an association of 69 chapters with more than 22,000 commercial contractors and construction-related firms among its members. Visit www.abc.org to learn more. - GORDEN SCORES BIG NARC VICTORY AT THE BRADWAY MEMORIAL
(5/31/25 - Andrew Kunas) Placerville, CA ... Dominic Gorden held off a hard charging Shane Golobic in the closing laps and earned the biggest win of his young racing career, picking up the big NARC victory at the 34th Annual Dave Bradway Jr Memorial Saturday night at Placerville Speedway. It was Gorden's second career NARC 410 sprint car triumph, and with leading all 40-laps of the feature and earning other awards, pocketed $9,400 for his efforts aboard the Silva's All-Natural Beef-sponsored Fortitude Driver Development No. 10 Rider-powered Maxim. While he did lead every lap, the win didn't come easily for Gorden. After starting on the outside of the front row he motored away from the field in the early going, but as heavy traffic became a factor in the latter half of the race, Gorden was soon under fire. Dylan Bloomfield, still hunting for his first 410 sprint car victory, threw a haymaker of a slider in Turns 3 and 4 in his attempt to get that first win, but Gorden turned his car back down the hill and held the top spot. Golobic, who started fifth and ran in the top five throughout the race, soon battled with Bloomfield and eventually got the runner-up position. Golobic chased down Gorden in the final laps of the race, trying to throw multiple sliders at the end, but could not find a way around Gorden. Gorden's first NARC triumph was the second prelim night of last year's Jim Raper Memorial Super Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway. "Skagit (first win) was awesome, but this win is up there. This is just as cool," a happy Gorden said about winning the prestigious event in victory lane. "Track was crazy tough; we almost couldn't get it on the curb. My (Team) gave me a great piece (car) to work with and we led wire to wire. I can't thank everyone who helps us enough." While enjoying the long green flag runs early, Gorden was frustrated by frequent yellow flags towards the end but gave praise to the drivers challenging him late. "Great job by Shane and Dylan. They gave me a run for my money, but we got it done." Golobic, who has seen so much success at Placerville Speedway but is still looking for his first Bradway win, settled for second aboard the NOS Energy-sponsored Matt Wood Racing No. 17w Kister-powered KPC. Despite the disappointment of not winning, Golobic gave praise for the event and wished for the younger racers to further embrace the Bradway race. After running second throughout the event, Bloomfield had his best NARC finish of the season when he took third aboard the Gary Silva / Bowman & Sons-sponsored Vertullo Racing No. 83v Kistler-powered Maxim. Reigning NARC champion Justin Sanders, last year's Bradway winner, earned the Williams Roofing Hard Charger nod, coming from 13th to finish fourth aboard the Yuba Sutter Aviation-sponsored Mittry Motorsports No. 2x Fisher-powered KPC. Kaleb Montgomery ran in the Top 5 throughout and finished fifth in the Luxon Real Estate-sponsored Montgomery Motorsports No. 3 Speedway-powered Maxim. Tanner Carrick, Tyler Thompson, pole-sitter Chance Grasty, Bud Kaeding and Landon Brooks rounded out the Top 10. Caeden Steele won the 12-lap Winters Performance Last Chance Qualifier, taking Nick Parker, D.J. Netto and D.J. Freitas with him to the Bradway main event. Heat races earlier in the evening were won by Bloomfield, Golobic, Brooks, and Carrick, each earning $300 bonuses coming from sponsors as part of the special event. Montgomery paced the 32-car field in Automotive Racing Products qualifying with a time of 10.635 seconds around the ¼-mile, high-banked clay oval. That also earned him the annual Carwash Mike Avilla Fast Time Award and the $1,000 cash bonus that was raised for it. - Hallett shows why Fremont is his favorite American track; Foos gets 305 win; Valenti earns 4th straight truck victory
FREMONT, Ohio - Brock Hallett, from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, hasn't raced at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction a lot in his career, but when he says "The Track That Action Built" is one of his favorites in the U.S. it's understandable. Especially after Saturday, May 31 when he led all 30 laps of the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprint feature on Ohio Truck Sales/Construction Equipment and Supply Night to claims his first ever win at the track. Hallett held off several challenges early from Zeth Sabo and late in the race from Cap Henry to claim the $4,000 victory. Hallett also had to survive a few restarts the last third of the race to take the win over Henry, Sean Rayhall, Sabo and Cole Duncan. "What a great night. This is one of my favorite tracks in the states. Trevor and Hayden had the car perfect. Graham isn't here but I'm sure he's watching. It's my girlfriend Celine's birthday….we will celebrate tonight," said Hallett beside his Keizer Wheels, Slade Shocks, GW Racing backed #5AU. With his second place finish defending champion of the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group Cap Henry will pad his point lead. After a couple a caution on the start of the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprint feature, the event went non-stop for 25 laps. Zack Kramer grabbed the initial lead until Jamie Miller slipped by on lap three with Matt Foos staying close in third. By the half-way point Miller, Kramer and Foos were locked in a tremendous battle with Foos driving into the lead on lap 14 just before entering heavy lapped traffic. Foos picked off the lappers one by one lap after lap while Miller and Kramer battled for second. Foos, the division's 2021 track champion, drove away for his 12th career win at Fremont over Kramer, Miller, Seth Schneider and Steve Rando. Miller will add to his lead as he looks to repeat as the Real Geese Decoys/Real Capz Attica Fremont Championship Series champion. "It's about time. We've been fast all year we just needed a little luck. I can't thank Jackson Sebetto enough. He is true to his ward. He gave up his seat for me to drive this tonight. He puts a ton of money in this team. My car has had horrible engine luck and he has let me drive his a couple of times and I'm so happy to reward these guys with a win," said Foos beside his Hossler Brothers Construction, Angry Duck Graphics, NAPA of Norwalk, Under Pressure Renovating, AZ Automotive, Level Utilities, Shelley Lytle, Eco Insulators, Level Performance, Joe Lynch Racing, Lynch Farms, Norwalk Concrete, Bad Habits Barbershop, Cornerstone Practitioners, Detailing Junkies backed #14S. The Burmeister Trophy Dirt Truck A-main was a barn-burner. Scott Milligan jumped into the early lead before Jamie Miller took the top spot on lap three. Miller, Keith Sorg and Shawn Valenti went at it for the next hand full of laps before Sorg surged into the lead on lap seven, bringing Valenti to second. Sorg and Valenti ran door to door from lap seven to lap 14 when Valenti used lapped trucks to take the lead, only to see Sorg return the favor the following lap. Valenti and Sorg sliced and diced through lapped traffic with Valenti regaining the lead on lap 16. Valenti held off Sorg for his fourth win in a row and the 86th of his career at Fremont to stand atop the all-time win list. Miller finished third but was disqualified for not reporting to tech inspection following the race, moving Kent Brewer to third, Brad Stuckey to fourth and Dustin Keegan to fifth. "I'm glad we were able to put on a great race for the fans and reward Rich Farmer for giving us the spot light and running our feature first tonight. I'm thankful I get to drive this truck and thanks to all my guys for all their hard work," said Valenti beside his Craig Miller Trucking, Conrad Transportation, Dave Story Equipment, A Plus Auto Center, Smolders Speed Concepts, S&S Hauling and Excavating backed #7B. Fremont Speedway will be back in action Saturday, June 7 with the AFCS 410 and 305 sprints and dirt trucks in action. - Sheridan Wins ESS Opener at Ohsweken
By Curtis Berleue (Ohsweken, ONT) | For the first time since 2015, the Empire Super Sprints made the trip north of the border to the Ohsweken Speedway. Taking on the local regulars, the best 360 sprint drivers in the northeast invaded the Ohsweken oval. In the end, however, it was local Nick Sheridan defending home turf and taking home the win. Pinnacle Pole Draw winner Nick Sheridan would bring the field to the initial green flag along side of Shawn Donath, with Donath taking the early lead into turns one and two. Close behind the lead duo of Donath and Sheridan, Dylan Swiernik and Jordan Poirier battled for 3rd. Before the leaders reached lap traffic, the first caution of the event flew on lap 5 for Glenn Styres and Mike Bowan. When action resumed, the top five of Donath, Sheridan, Swiernik, Poirier and Westbrook remained the same. As the scoreboard hit lap 10, Jordan Poirier worked his way into second, passing both Swiernik and Sheridan, though only momentarily as Sheridan fought back past the Quebec native to regain second. With 9 laps remaining, Sheridan caught Donath and with a run off of turn two, was able to slide past Donath for the lead a they exited turn four. Poirier followed Sheridan past Donath for second, and not long after Swiernik was able to get by the #53 machine as well. Up front, Sheridan had set sail and would lead the remainder of the event en-route to his first Empire Super Sprints victory. "This is something I will never forget," said Sheridan in victory lane. "My first 360 win here, and my first win against these ESS boys, they're the real deal - these guys are really good." "We had a good car, here. We got a little free early, I threw the wing back and changed some shocks around in the cockpit and we got a little better." Jordan Poirier held on for second to start his title defense in 2025. "The track was pretty much in Nationals conditions, so we had a game plan," said Poirier. "Our GSR chassis was really good on this slick track. I showed Nick my lane in turn one and he kept it to pass Donath. After that he was really good and I couldn't catch him." Rounding out the podium was Dylan Swiernik. "It's my first week back, and we worked hard all off season and all of last summer," said Swiernik. "To come up here - I haven't ran all year - and sit third that's good." 35 cars signed into the pits to open the Empire Super Sprints season, which would mean the field was divided into four timed hot lap groups. Earning Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards were Dylan Westbrook, Davie Franek, Cory Turner and Josh Hansen. Elab Smokers Boutique heat wins went to Dylan Westbrook, Davie Franek, Dylan Swiernik, and Josh Hansen. The Lacaillade Masonry B-Main was won by Matt Billings. The next scheduled event for the Empire Super Sprints is Saturday May 31st at the Brighton Speedway in Brighton, ONT.
