- Eddie Tafoya Jr. Ready for Perris' Biggest Sprint Car Night of 2025
Chino Hills, CA — September 7, 2025 — After a weekend off following three straight nights of racing in Northern California, Eddie Tafoya Jr. returns to action this Saturday, September 13th, when Perris Auto Speedway hosts its biggest sprint car program of the season. Tafoya will pilot his familiar #51T in the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series that sharing the spotlight with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars in a rare and exciting open-wheel doubleheader. The 27-year-old Chino Hills, California racer comes into the event with momentum, fresh off his best finish of 2025 — a fourth-place run in the Ultimate Sprint Car Series at Petaluma Speedway on Labor Day. In just his second career start with the USCS, and his first appearance at Petaluma since 2019, Tafoya charged forward from seventh on the grid to secure the top-five result on the tight 3/8-mile oval. Earlier that evening, Tafoya was third-fastest in his qualifying group, seventh overall of the 20 cars on hand and recorded a third-place finish in his 10-lap heat race. "The night went well," Tafoya said of Petaluma. "The track changes a lot. You kind of start tightening up the car and then go back to where you started for the main event. Just had to make sure the car was drivable after the two previous nights." The strong Petaluma outing came on the heels of Tafoya's participation in the historic reopening of Calistoga Speedway over Labor Day weekend. Racing returned to the iconic half-mile for the first time in six years in front of sellout crowds. On night one, Tafoya timed in eighth-fastest among 34 cars, finished fifth in his heat, and transferred through the B-main before ending the A-main in 16th. Night two saw him post the 18th-quickest qualifying lap, grab a second in his heat, and lock into the feature, where he placed 18th. "I was pretty excited to go back there," Tafoya said of his return to the big half mile. " I am always happy to go to big fast racetracks. Unfortunately, the results didn't necessarily pan out how we wanted but we still had fun up there. The first night I had a good starting spot in eighth. I just think I was way to tight. I was trying to compensate on how slick the dirt was getting but then it ended up getting rough so I was kind of caught in a sticky situation. I was just stuck." "The second night, it felt a lot better in the heat race and I almost won it," Tafoya continued. " In the main, we had a right rear shock let go. So I was all over the place and on the verge of being out of control, so I brought it in early." Tafoya, the 2019 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year, will now look to build on that experience as he tackles one of the biggest stages of the season at Perris Auto Speedway. "I really do not think about it once I am inside the racecar," Tafoya said when asked about racing in front of big crowds. "It is definitely cool to see afterwards when the people come down and appreciate the things we do. We are definitely small compared to a lot of other motorsports so its nice to have some recognition." Event Info: Date: Saturday, September 13, 2025 Location: Perris Auto Speedway, 18700 Lake Perris Drive, Perris, CA Tickets: Advance tickets available at worldofoutlaws.com. Plenty of walk-up tickets will also be available. Track Info: perrisautospeedway.com | 951-940-0134 Tafoya can be followed on Instagram at @eddietafoya51. The Tafoya Racing team would like to thank Specialty Fasteners, BR Motorsports, King Racing Products, Gasper Transportation, CMI Precision Machining, Owen's Insurance Services, Keen Concrete, DRC Chassis, and Rider Racing Engines for their continued support of the 2025 season. - SANDERS WIN NARC THRILLER TO CLAIM PAY DIRT AT PLACERVILLE SPEEDWAY
(9/6/25 - Andrew Kunas) Placerville, CA ... After leaving for a month to pursue other racing opportunities, Justin Sanders made his triumphant return to the NARC King of the West sprint car scene, as he fought his way through traffic and made a late winning pass to score a $5000 Pay Dirt Showdown victory Saturday at Placerville Speedway. Sanders started the 30-lap feature outside the second row and early on passed Dylan Bloomfield to move into the third position, before quickly going after pole sitter Justyn Cox for second. Making that move into the runner-up spot, Sanders then set his sights on race leader Sean Becker. Becker survived an assault by Cox in the opening two laps, withstanding slide job attempts and close quarters between cars on the ¼-mile bullring and then taking off from there with the lead. Becker, however, then was forced to contend with constant traffic on the small oval. That allowed Sanders to close in and challenge during the middle and latter parts of the race. Becker at times made key passes around slower cars to keep Sanders at bay. As the laps winded down, traffic thickened for Becker and left him struggling to find a path around as the race reached five laps to go. That's when Sanders finally pounced, getting a run around the bottom side of Turns 3 and 4 as Becker was held up by a pair of slower cars right in front of him. Sanders scooted by Becker as they exited the fourth turn to lead the 26th lap. Sanders led the final five laps to take his series leading seventh NARC win of the season aboard the Yuba Sutter Aviation-sponsored Mittry Motorsports No. 2x Fisher-powered KPC. Sanders knew Becker was second in NARC points entering the night and was competing for the championship. Because of that, Sanders said he wanted to pass Becker clean and waited for the opportunity to do so as they raced in traffic. "Sean was running a good race. He was switching up his lines and really making me think about what I had to do to get closer. I looked up on the board on Lap 23 and I was like 'I don't know if I'm going to get this' and then we got into traffic and I made it stick on the bottom," said Sanders, who again also praised the Mittry Motorsports team. "Awesome to be back in the 2x. Nice to be back home with these guys. Happy to get another 410 win." Bloomfield made the late pass around Becker in the closing laps to take the runner-up spot and finished there aboard the Gary Silva Ranches-sponsored Vertullo Racing No. 83v Kistler-powered Maxim. Saturday's race was Vertullo Racing's final NARC start before the team relocates to the Midwest after decades as one of the most recognizable cars in California. After leading 25 laps, Becker finished third aboard the D&J Construction Rental-sponsored Bjork Construction No. 7b Shaver-powered Maxim and shaved a few points off D.J. Netto's point lead. After starting on the pole, Cox eventually finished fourth aboard the BERCO Redwood-sponsored Bates Hamilton Racing No. 42x Kistler-powered Maxim. Gauge Garcia ran in the Top 5 throughout and finished fifth in the Monarch Ford-sponsored Keller Motorsports No. 2k Speedway-powered Triple X. Netto finished sixth to maintain his points lead. Chance Grasty, Jesse Schlotfeldt, Kaleb Montgomery and Bud Kaeding rounded out the Top 10. Montgomery earned the Williams Roofing Hard Charger nod, coming from 16th to finish ninth. Cox won the Beacon Wealth Strategies Trophy Dash to claim the pole position for the feature. Heat races earlier in the evening were won by Bloomfield, Netto and Cox. Grasty paced the 23-car field in Automotive Racing Products Qualifying with a time of 10.217 seconds around the ¼-mile bullring clay oval. - Grant scores record-breaking win in USAC Sprint Rod End Supply Dirt Duel at Lucas Oil Speedway
WHEATLAND, MO. (Sept. 6, 2025) - Justin Grant made USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship history on Saturday night by winning the Rod End Supply Diamond Dirt Duel at Lucas Oil Speedway. Grant, a native of Ione, Calif., took the lead on lap eight and never surrendered it, outlasting Jake Swanson for the 63rd series win of his career. It sent him past Dave Darland for the most wins in tour history and was his 100th career feature win across all USAC divisions, just the eighth driver to reach the century mark. "I don't really know what to say," Grant said in victory lane. "I'm really excited and I can't thank everybody enough. I absolutely love driving sprint cars, particularly non-wing sprint cars. And I love USAC and I love everything about what we do. To be the all-time winner is just absolutely incredible. I've poured my life into this sport and into this discipline and am trying to get better and better at it. "It almost felt more special to tie Dave Darling than to pass him. He's an absolute legend and a hero. I shared something on Facebook (Saturday) about him going into the Indiana Sports Hall of Fame and wanted to make note that we're all now reaping the benefits of the things that Dave Darling did for our sport." The 30-lap feature saw the fourth-starting Grant close in on Wesley Smith, who started on the pole and led early, when caution flew on lap four after Clinton Boyles spun on the backstretch. Smith had a good restart and opened an eight-car-length lead, but by lap six Grant once again was knocking on the door with Swanson joining the battle in third. Grant was able to take the lead sliding past Smith on the inside out of turn four to complete lap eight. Grant was off the running from there, leading by more than a second as he caught lapped traffic by lap 12. As Smith and Swanson dueled, Grant was driving away up front. But a lap-16 caution for a pair of cars off the pace bunched the leaders for another restart. Wyatt Burks worked his way into third on the restart with Swanson applying pressure to Grant. Swanson kept chipping away running a lower groove as the laps clicked by and the two dealt with slower cars. Grant was able to hang on and capture his milestone victory - then climb gingerly from the car to celebrate. He suffered a broken left foot in a racing accident on July 27 at Lawrenceburg Speedway and drives with a specially-fitted boot on the surgically repaired foot. "I can't thank all the people behind me enough. My wife Ashley, my parents, my grandma," Grant said. "Everybody that supports me. It hasn't been an easy weekend. We've been changing everything and working my guys to death and they're about sick of me, but it pays off when you win for them." Grant paid special tribute to car owner Kevin Birchmeier. "We've been through some really high highs and low lows together," Grant said. "I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for Kevin. He supports me 100 percent." Swanson, of Anaheim, Calif., said he felt like he had a shot at tracking down Grant. While proud of his strong run, it also was frustrating. "I was driving my (butt) off, but he did a good job and didn't make any mistakes," Swanson said. "Obviously, he's one of the greatest to do this. It stings. I felt we had the best race car." Burks came home in third with Michel Moles fourth and Logan Seavey fifth in USAC's first appearance at Lucas Oil Speedway in 19 years. Logan Seavey set a new track record for non-wing sprints for his eighth fast-time of the season award on the series with a lap of 14.928 seconds. Brady Bacon (15.159, Sept. 8, 2006) held the previous record. USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship season points leader Kyle Cummins started 11th and finished ninth. Simon wins INEX Legends feature: Trenton Simon of Joplin led all 20 laps to grab the INEX Legends feature win, beating Austin Azeez by 2.6 seconds. It was Simon's 14th win of the season. Simon had built up a 3.5-second lead over Azeez when caution on lap nine slowed the action and took away his big margin. It didn't take long for Simon to check out again after the restart and he dominated the remaining 11, caution-free laps. "It was really a matter of finding out what the track was. I hadn't been here in a while," Simon said. "We made adjustments as the night went on and it paid off in the end." Jay Reynolds finished third with Justin Comer fourth and Jett Stovall fifth after starting 16th. The Legends portion of the program was sponsored by Outlaw Plumbing. LUCAS OIL SPEEDWAY UNOFFICIAL. - Jedrzejek dominates at Fremont; Henry earns AFCS title
FREMONT, Ohio - Kasey Jedrzejek was a man on a mission Saturday, Sept. 6 at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction on Baumann Auto Group Night. The 20-year-old from Lagrange, Ohio cut a tire leading the previous night and set out to prove how fast his Ed Neumeister Racing team is, winning by over four seconds in the 30 non-stop laps of the 410 sprint A-main for his second victory of the year at "The Track That Action Built." Jedrzejek, who won the 305 sprint feature Friday at Attica, scored his third 410 sprint victory of 2025 aboard his Mr. Heater, Heat Star, Cherry's Outdoor World, Cherry's Propane, Team Line'm Up, Ronda Jedrzejek at Howard Hanna, Sips & Such Social House, Perfection Fabricators, Greber Racing Components, Dibaggio Family, Southgate Lanes, Nagy Coatings, Fisher Custom Printing, Stars & Stripes Tool, Heitmeyer Concrete backed #11N. "I got to start on the front row with my buddy Mike (Keegan) thanks to him rolling the eight inversion. We've been pretty good here all season. Once I got by the lapped cars…a few in one lap and I felt pretty good about that and didn't have too much pressure. I have to thank Ed for giving me this opportunity and John, Kent Jason… they all did a good job working on the car all week. We swapped an engine after last night," said Jedrzejek. Keegan led the first seven laps before Jedrzejek took over and drove away to his third career win at Fremont. Zeth Sabo who won the previous night at Attica came home second with Cap Henry, Keegan and Nate Dussel rounding out the top five. Henry wrapped up his fourth championship in the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group. It's his third straight series title. "It was a really good weekend. Obviously when you've been as good as we have this year (15 wins) you want to keep winning races but you can't win them all. Howdy (Zeth Sabo) was good last night and the 11N car was good tonight. I'm proud of my guys. We've put a really good season together. To come in here tonight and have the title wrapped up is pretty cool and it shows how hard my guys have worked all year," said Henry. Zack Kramer led the first nine laps of the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints feature before fourth starter Logan Riehl took over. Riehl, the division's rookie of the year in 2020, steadily pulled away while Dustin Stroup moved into second. Riehl got an excellent restart following a caution with just four laps to go and drove to his first win of the season, his second career victory at Fremont, over Stroup, Steve Rando, Kramer and Seth Schneider. "Beginning of the year we had a bunch of motor issues. We got that figured out and then we had parts failures. I don't remember last time we finished a race. I knew at the beginning of the race we had a really good car and I just had to hit my marks. I have to thank RCF Chassis, my dad and mom, my fiancée and everyone on the car," said Riehl beside his Riehl Custom Fabrication and Repair, Cornerstone Farms, Bascom Diesel Supply, Larry Riehl, Milligan's Irish Pub backed #9R. Jamie Miller wrapped up his third Real Geese Decoys/Real Capz Attica Fremont Championship Series title. "We've been struggling the past few weeks after starting the season so strong. We gained on it tonight and we will get back to where we were. It feels good to win another AFCS championship," said Miller. Chuck Roelle led the opening lap of the Burmeister Trophy Dirt Truck feature before Kent Brewer took over. Following a caution on lap five, eighth starter Shawn Valenti drove into second and quickly challenged Brewer. The duo put on a heck of a show battling for the lead with Valenti taking over the top spot on lap 11. Following a caution on lap 13, Valenti and Brewer again resumed their entertaining battle for the lead with Keith Sorg joining in the fun. A caution on the white flag lap set up a green-white-checker finish and Valenti held off Brewer for his seventh victory of the season. Valenti now has 89 career wins at Fremont to lead all drivers in the track's history. He hasn't finished out of the top two at Fremont all season long. Brewer, Sorg, Dan Hennig and Craig Dippman rounded out the top five." "This thing has been amazing. I never dreamed I'd get one win here let alone 89 now. I have to thank Jeff Babcock, Squirrel, my wife and kids," said Valenti beside his Craig Miller Trucking, Conrad Transportation, Dave Story Equipment, A Plus Auto Center, Smolders Speed Concepts, Holman Drilling, S&S Hauling and Excavating backed #7B. Fremont Speedway will be back in action Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12 and 13 for the 18th Annual Jim Ford Classic. The dirt trucks join the NAPA Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions on Friday while the 305 sprints join the All Stars on Saturday. It's championship weekend for the All Stars.
