- Xavier Doney Dominates with POWRi 410 Outlaw Sprints at 34 Raceway
West Burlington, IA. (8/29/25) Xavier Doney would be nearly untouchable with the POWRi Honest Abe Roofing 410 Outlaw Sprint League in a 34 Raceway thriller to notch his third league victory after leading all thirty laps to earn the hard-earned feature victory. Returning to the speedy surfaces of 34 Raceway with twenty-one talented entrants of the POWRi 410 Outlaw Sprints, Austin McCarl set a quick qualifying time of 12.862-second lap with Xavier Doney, Cole Mincer, and Josh Schneiderman each earning heat racing victories. Electrifying the packed audience in West Burlington, Iowa, on the initial green flag start, with high-point qualifier Austin McCarl and Xavier Doney lined up in the front row, Xavier Doney would gain the lead on the opening lap with the field filing into positions. Holding the front of the field through a barrage of top spot-swapping attempts, Xavier Doney would hold off the continual charges of Austin McCarl using a fast high side line as Ayrton Gennetten, Joe B Miller, and Jack Anderson contended inside the early running top five. Leading all revolutions around 34 Raceway with precision, Xavier Doney would not be denied in earning his second seasonal POWRi 410 Outlaw Sprint victory in an action-packed main event, with Joe B Miller hustling into the runner-up position by using a late-race restart. "I knew the opening start was going to be the difference in this race, and I was able to get a really good jump going into turn one. This was just a really fun race with two very different lines on the track," said Xavier Doney in the 34 Raceway victory lane ceremony celebrations. Adding "Once McCarl showed me his nose with about ten to go, I knew I had to go to the top side and just hang on until the end". Contesting closely behind would find Ayrton Gennetten placing on the final podium placement from the starting third on the initial green flag. Hard-charging through the field would find Gage Montgomery place fourth from starting eighteenth on the opening laps as John Barnard would record a career best to round out the top-five finishers for the POWRi Honest Abe Roofing 410 Outlaw Sprint League at 34 Raceway. 34 Raceway | POWRi 410 Outlaw Sprints | 8/29/25: Start2Finish TV Quick Qualifying Time: 88-Austin McCarl(12.862) Flying A Motorsports Heat Race 1 Winner: 74-Xavier Doney Eibach Racing Heat Race 2 Winner: 15JR-Cole Mincer Auto Meter Heat Race 3 Winner: 49-Josh Schneiderman Wholesale Batteries Inc. - Alberson Starts Hillbilly Hundred Weekend with Friday Night Win at Lernerville
SARVER, PA (August 29, 2025) - Garrett Alberson took the lead at the start of Friday night's 40-lap, $10,000-to-win main event and never looked back. He first held off Ricky Thornton Jr. for the first four laps, then Jonathan Davenport for several laps, and finally Devin Moran for the last 13 circuits to earn his first-ever win at Lernerville Speedway on the opening night of the 57th Annual Hillbilly 100 Presented by Summit Racing Equipment. Alberson led all 40 laps to earn his fourth career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presented by FloRacing victory. Moran moved from fifth to second on a lap 27 restart and finished just 0.852 seconds behind. Hudson O'Neal moved from seventh to secure a spot on the Big River Steel Podium by claiming third place. Tim McCreadie finished fourth, followed by Ricky Thornton, Jr., who made a late race charge to reach fifth after dropping as low as eighth in the running order at the checkers, maintaining his series points lead heading into Saturday's $30,000-to-win Hillbilly Hundred. Alberson, who finished fourth in the track's signature event, the Firecracker 100, went to Lucas Oil Victory Lane for the third time this season on Friday night. "My guys did such a good job. Big thanks to Vinny (Guiliani); he came in with us and helped us get our program back together. I just tried to be a driver tonight. I tried not to overthink it and let my instincts take over. Man, the car worked really well; the track was intense. I kinda wanted to straighten the car out a little here and there, but every time I tried to ease up on it, there was somebody right beside us," said the driver from Las Cruces, New Mexico native. "I kind of took a lane over there, and when you do that, you kind of try to break a guy's momentum. I hope I didn't crowd anybody too much. I just had to change the momentum a little bit and then get back to what I was doing, being a little more disciplined with what I was doing in three and four so I wouldn't lose my speed across the center. Man, this is awesome." Moran, who suddenly became a contender for the win after starting eighth, climbed to second following a lap 27 restart. "For the Firecracker, we had some bad luck, and I felt like our results didn't reflect our speed. Coming here, starting eighth and finishing second was awesome. Kudos to Garrett for running a great race. I thought I had a chance in one and two, and I stuck my nose out, but I probably shouldn't have. Once I did, he (Alberson) moved down for three or four laps, which messed up my momentum. They did a great job, and so did my team. We've been working really hard and had to fight through a lot of challenges this year. We've had a really great race car here the last couple of weeks," said the Dresden, Ohio native. O'Neal, who started alongside Moram in row four, finished in third place. "Yeah, the car was really good. We struggled for the last couple of weeks, but we were able to test yesterday, and I think it really helped us. We've been working to improve our balance on these bigger race tracks because we struggled a little when we came here for the Firecracker. However, we opened up the notebook, and it turned out to be a really good night for us." The winner's Roberts Motorsports, Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Clements Racing Engine and sponsored by Low Voltage Solutions, Inc., Mesilla Valley Transportation, Sunoco Race Fuels, Bilstein Shocks, Titan Racing Products, Nutrien Ag Solutions, Dickie's Doghouse, Cheap Cars, Bill's Sport Shop, Done Right TV, Fertilizer Equipment Specialists, Mitchell Ranch, Denago Powersports, and Roemer Machine. Completing the top ten were Max Blair, Jonathan Davenport, Brandon Sheppard, Mike Marlar, and Brandon Overton. - Eddie Tafoya Jr. Heads North for Labor Day Weekend Tripleheader
Chino Hills, CA — August 28, 2025 — For the first time since 2021, Chino Hills, California, sprint car racer Eddie Tafoya Jr. is heading to Northern California for three big races over Labor Day weekend. The now-veteran driver will kick things off this Saturday and Sunday, August 30th and 31st, competing in the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series 14th Annual Louie Vermeil Classic at the legendary Calistoga Speedway. On Labor Day Monday, he'll make the short trip to Petaluma Speedway to battle with the Ultimate Sprint Car Series. The weekend at Calistoga is one of the most highly anticipated events on the West Coast in 2025. Shuttered since 2019, the picturesque half-mile clay oval seemed doomed until the city purchased the fairgrounds property, bringing racing back to the historic venue. For 28-year-old Tafoya, it will be just his second trip to Calistoga. The last time he raced there came on September 1, 2019 — the track's final event before the shutdown — during the season he earned USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year honors. That night he qualified 16th in a 24-car field, started 16th, and finished 15th in the main event. His most recent outing at Petaluma Speedway came in 2021, when he placed 11th in the USAC/CRA main event on the tight 3/8-mile clay oval after returning from a summer racing stint in Indiana. Tafoya heads north after an impressive performance two weeks ago at Perris Auto Speedway. A violent qualifying crash left his car badly damaged, but he and his crew went to work immediately, thrashing in the pits to get the #51T ready for his heat race. Forced to start at the rear of both his heat and the 30-lap main due to not recording a qualifying time, Tafoya charged forward spectacularly. After starting eighth in his eight-lap heat race, he advanced to fourth in the heat. In the main, he started 24th, steered his car impressively through the pack, and avoided the on-track chaos. All told, he passed 16 cars in the feature to finish 8th and capture the In Memory of Jim and Chet Gardner Hard Charger Award. Fans unable to make the trip to Northern California can catch both nights of the Louie Vermeil Classic live on Flo Racing, with coverage beginning at 5:00 p.m. PDT. Tafoya can be followed on Instagram at @eddietafoya51. The Tafoya Racing team would like to thank Specialty Fasteners, BR Motorsports, King Racing Products, Gasper Transportation, CMI Precision Machining, Owen's Insurance Services, Keen Concrete, DRC Chassis, and Rider Racing Engines for their continued support of the 2025 season. - Abreu Sweeps High Limit Weekend at Skagit
There aren't enough superlatives in the English dictionary to describe Rico Abreu's performance at Skagit Speedway this weekend.
- Henry Sweeps Attica Ambush Weekend
Cap Henry reminded everyone Saturday, Aug. 30 that he is equally dominate at Attica Raceway Park on a slick track as he is a heavy racing surface. The three time and defending track champion led all 35 laps of the non-stop NAPA Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions Presented by Valvoline A-main to sweep the 37th annual Attica Ambush for his eighth win of 2025 at "Ohio's Finest Racing" speed plant.
- Arenz takes first run at LaSalle, ramps up for three-race IRA weekend
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 27, 2025 - After competing in just three Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series races over the span of the past seven weeks, Travis Arenz and his crew got back on track with their first appearance at LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Ill., on Saturday, Aug. 23. Arenz opened the night by qualifying 18th overall in the 36-car field with a lap of 11.660 seconds. After placing sixth in the second IRA heat race, the 2020 and 2021 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car champion rolled off third and advanced one spot to place second in the 12-lap B main and move on to the evening's main event. The Sheboygan Falls, Wis. driver started 21st in the 30-lap main event and worked his way up to as high as 12th before tallying a 20th place showing. "LaSalle is a cool facility," Arenz said. "I have never raced there before, so I'm glad we got to experience it, but the night's results were less than favorable. I made contact with the wall after losing tack coming out of the turn during the closing laps of the feature, which resulted in making contact with another driver. It was a driving error on my part. I always want to race clean and respectfully. With the wreck this past weekend, there is a lot of work to prepare for this weekend. We will get everything back together and be ready. I hope to turn good clean laps all weekend. I'm also hoping to get a little redemption at Beaver Dam while we still can!" The Travis Arenz Motorsports Team is set to enter a big tripleheader weekend of IRA action starting at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis., for the annual Sheboygan County Fair race on Friday, Aug. 29. On-track action is set to commence at 5 p.m. One night later, Arenz joins the IRA for the Harry Neitzel Tribute and Jim Wipperfurth Memorial, billed as the last-ever Sprint Car race at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis., on Saturday, Aug. 30. Spectator gates are scheduled to open at 4 p.m. with racing starting at 6 p.m. The weekend closes with an appearance at The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., with the IRA 410 Sprint Car Series. - After eventful double dip, Pokorski eyes IRA tripleheader
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 26, 2025 - Following a month away from competition, a weekend of 360 and 410 Sprint Car action offered a little bit of everything for Alex Pokorski and members of the Akright Auto Racing Team. The team opened the doubleheader weekend with a night of Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car action at The Plymouth Dirt Track on Friday, Aug 22. Alex began the program by registering the seventh fastest qualifying time in the 26-car field with a lap of 12.746 around the semi-banked third-mile clay oval. After starting third and placing second in the second heat race, the fifth-year Sprint Car racer rolled off from the fourth starting slot in the 25-lap headliner. The West Bend native used a strong start to vault into second on lap 4. While dueling with Scotty Thiel for the runner-up spot on lap 9, Pokorski brushed the front stretch wall, which resulted in a flat right rear tire. After retreating to the work area for a tire change, he rejoined the field, charging from 21st to secure a 12th place finish. One night later, on Saturday, Aug. 23, Pokorski and crew made their debut appearance at LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Ill., for a Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series event. After qualifying 31st in the 36-car field with a lap of 12.227 seconds around the quarter-mile high-banked dirt oval, Pokorski placed seventh in the fourth heat race. Alex lined up sixth in the 12-lap B Main and was battling for the final A-main transfer spot when he clipped the front stretch wall on lap 7. The impact produced enough damage to bring the evening to a close for the No. 4 car. He was credited with a ninth place showing in the B main. "We had good speed in the 360 again," Pokorski said. "We were just unlucky to crash early in the A main. On the 410 side of things, we are still learning. I ended up driving it too hard and made some more work for us this week. We have a good start on it. I'm hoping to finish up the season strong, beginning with making the three shows this weekend." The Alex Pokorski-Akright Auto Racing Team is preparing for a big tripleheader weekend of IRA action starting at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis., for the annual Sheboygan County Fair race on Friday, Aug. 29. On-track action is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. One night later, Pokorski joins the IRA for the Harry Neitzel Tribute and Jim Wipperfurth Memorial in what is being billed as the final Sprint Car race ever to be held at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis., on Saturday, Aug. 30. Spectator gates are scheduled to open at 4 p.m., with racing starting at 6 p.m. The weekend closes with the team's first-ever appearance at The Hill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay, Wis., with the IRA 410 Sprint Car Series. Spectator gates open at 3 p.m. with racing scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. All Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association events are available to view via live stream on floracing.com. - Dryden & Christie Defend Canadian Turf in GLSS Invaision of Ontario
South Buxton, ON, CAN - For the second straight year, the Great Lakes Super Sprints (GLSS) Presented by PERFIT & ARP went international with trips to Ohsweken Speedway and Buxton Speedway in Ontario, Canada. This year, however, the stakes were higher for the American teams who made the trip through customs. A full slate of Tour Points was on the line both Friday and Saturday night. Friday's event at Ohsweken Speedway was one for the memory bank with track conditions unlike anything seen at Ohsweken Speedway in at least a decade. Heavy rain throughout the week led to a rough and technical surface that played right into the hands of drivers who were able to "cowboy up" and take on the challenging surface. Darren Dryden and Liam Martin were scheduled to lead the field to the green flag, however, Dryden jumped the initial start, moving him back a row, and giving Nick Sheridan the outside front row alongside Martin. Sheridan snuck around the outside and led the opening lap before Martin put his No.9 at the point on lap two. Meanwhile, Dryden was defending his third spot from Dylan Westbrook before he took on Sheridan for the second spot when Sheridan tried to make a move for the lead for the lead. In turns one and two, Dryden put his No.12DD back out front. On lap nine, trouble struck for Liam Martin when he got bucked out of turn four and leaped over the inside wall in turn four. Martin was unable to continue. Dryden had no issue on two restarts that followed prior to the 10-lap-to-go mark. Then, with four to go, the race was stopped when Tyler Powless flipped in turn four just in front of Dryden, who was able to avoid the flipping No.77T. On the restart, Dryden drove away to collect his first career win at Ohsweken Speedway and his second ever win with GLSS. Then, on Saturday at Buxton Speedway, Ryan Turner and D.J. Christie led the field to the green flag. Christie jumped out to the early lead, leaving Turner to try and defend his second spot. Coming to complete lap two, Liam Martin and Skyler Evans got together in turns three and four, sending Evans into the spin cycle and collecting Dylan Westbrook in the process. Another restart with 20 laps to go brought the field back together just as Christie was preparing to navigate lapped traffic. The remaining 20 laps went green, forcing Christie to work his way through heavy lapped traffic while holding off Turner. The track record holder at Crystal Motor Speedway closed to within a half second in traffic, but couldn't reel in Christie in the closing laps. D.J. Chrisite held on for his first career GLSS win. The next event for the MacAllister CAT Great Lakes Super Sprints is Friday, August 29th, at Tri City Motor Speedway in Auburn, Michigan. Then, the Championship event is Sunday, August 31st, at Crystal Motor Speedway. Jared Horstman will try to hold on to the MacAllister CAT Division points lead, while Max Stambaugh hopes to steal the third piece of the GLSS trifecta while securing his fourth consecutive GLSS Tour title. Fans who can't make the trip this weekend can catch the action both Friday and Sunday on GreatLakesSprints.TV. For more on the Great Lakes Super Sprints, visit GreatLakesSprints.com.
