- O'Neal Claims Second Freedom 60 in Three Years
ZANESVILLE, OH (July 5, 2025) - Hudson O'Neal started sixth. He passed race leader Jonathan Davenport on lap 44 to win the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presented by FloRacing, Freedom 60 on Saturday night at Muskingum County Speedway. O'Neal's third series victory of the season paid $25,000 from a total purse of over $82,000. Davenport crossed the finish line in second, just 0.515 seconds behind O'Neal, but he failed post-race tech when his droop limiter chain was not tight, which moved him to 25th place in the finishing order. Garrett Alberson, who finished third, moved up to second in the final rundown. Brandon Sheppard, the previous night's winner at Atomic and the leader for the first 8 laps of the 60-lap main event, rounded out the Big River Steel Podium in third. In Lucas Oil Victory Lane for the 32nd time in his career, the 2023 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion returned to victory at Muskingum County for the second time. He held off a slider by Davenport in the closing laps to secure the win after Davenport led from laps 9 through 43. "That was the advantage of not being out in the lead like Jonathan was. I was able to kind of drive some lines there, and I found that bottom. At first, whenever I tried, it didn't quite have the speed to drive all the way to the lead, but as that top slowed down, I got a little better. This car was amazing. Hats off to Jason Durham and my crew; they gave me an outstanding race car, making all the right decisions on tires and everything else things," said the Martinsville, Indiana native. "I was really good at getting into third place and being able to get out there and come back down the hill. It was awesome; everything played out right tonight. I was able to drive up through there in the heat race, and having a good starting spot in the feature was the main thing for us. I appreciate all of the fans who came out tonight, and the Moran Family and Muskingum for giving us a great race track to race on." Alberson ran as high as second during the race after a side-by-side battle with Sheppard for several laps. "I had a very small balance issue, but our car was really close, and I am so proud of these guys. We have been working our butts off trying to develop a longer run program. We are really close. I am sure the battles (with Sheppard and O'Neal) hurt us, but Hud was really good; he just kind of worked over that bottom on me and did his job. I am just really happy to be here. I hate it for JD; I don't know if it was a mechanical failure or what it was. That's a tough deal, but I guess it happens to all of us at some point." Sheppard, who earned his first series win of the season 24 hours earlier at Atomic Speedway, stayed in the hunt for most of the race and finished third. "I definitely felt like I was battling with someone for most of the race. I was pretty much the same all the way across the track. I was just a little bit snug. The track was super slick tonight, it was awesome, and I thought it put on a great show for all of these fans. This new car has been phenomenal since we unloaded it." The winner's SSI Motorsports, Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Cornett Racing Engine and sponsored by Big River Steel, Wheeler Metals, Merrill Bonding Company, Sub-Surface of Indiana, Professional Concrete, Cutting and Drilling, West Side Tractor Sales, Dyno One Inc., O'Neal's Salvage and Recycling, Indiana USSSA Fast Pitch Softball, Bob and Tammy Burton, Houchens Insurance Group, Bobcat of Batesville, and Sunoco Race Fuels. Completing the top ten were Nathon Loney, Donald McIntosh, Brandon Overton, Logan Zarin and Carson Ferguson. - Cap Henry gets 3rd Fremont win; Stroup earns 305 victory; Valenti gets 6th straight truck win
FREMONT, Ohio - With several big events coming up in the region with national touring series and stars in winged 410 racing in competition, Cap Henry is serving notice the "regular" drivers at Fremont Speedway are ready for the challenge. Henry scored his third win of the year at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction Saturday, July 5 on Willie's Sales and Service Pack the Stands Night. Henry, who started sixth in the 30-lap Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprint A-main, took the lead from Zeth Sabo on lap nine and drove to his 24th career win at "The Track That Action Built." It is his seventh overall victory of 2025. Sabo, Chris Andrews, Bryce Lucius and Joel Myers Jr. rounded out the top five in front of a standing room crowd. The win also pads Henry's lead as he looks to claim a second straight All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group. Henry finished second on Friday in the AFCS event at Attica Raceway Park, getting passed on the last corner of the last lap while leading. "I couldn't really see the scoreboard the last couple of laps and I got boxed in there in turn three coming to the white flag and I messed up getting in three and I had no momentum and I thought here we go again. I got to that moisture spot off of four and just matted it. I really proud of these guys. Zack (Meyers) was just turning knobs and wrenches in staging right before the race. Usually that means it's going to be really good or really bad and he got it right," said Henry beside his Premier Planning Service, Jeff Ward Demolition, Ohio Logistics, Primal Tee Shop, Innovative Excavating, Elliott's Custom Trailers and Carts, FK Rod Ends, King Racing, Griff's Engines; Berryman Racing Shocks, Callie's Performance Products, Dyers, Power Cool Manufacturing, SCS Gearbox, Tony Elliott Foundation backed #33W. Fremont, Ohio's Dustin Stroup spun late in the race Friday at Attica as he tried to get the win. He redeemed himself Saturday at Fremont, taking the lead on lap 14 and driving to his first victory of the year at Fremont in the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints. It's his 13th career win at the track. Paul Weaver led the first 12 laps before Steve Rando took over for a lap with Stroup taking the top spot a lap later. A late race caution with just three laps to go gave Rando a shot at the leader but Stroup drove away to the win, his third overall in 2025, over Rando, Weaver, Jamie Miller and Seth Schneider. Miller's fourth place run adds to his lead in the Real Geese Decoys/Real Capz AFCS standings as he looks to repeat as the series champion. "I had a little fire under my ass tonight. Me and Jamie (Miller) raced real hard last night at Attica and coming down for the white flag I made a mistake. I was pretty ticked off about it. Tonight we got it done," said Stroup beside his Pizza House Clyde, Mama Dukes TRP, GCE LLS., Myer's Racing Engines, Midwest Dyno Services, Sulphur Town Pub, The Bowman Family, Warwick Entertainment, Bobby's Truck, Auto and Bus Repair, Wear A Print LLC, TME Services, Advance Auto Parts, Eye Candy Custom Cycles #10X. Fostoria, Ohio's Shawn Valenti took the lead from Dustin Keegan on lap seven of the Burmeister Trophy Dirt Truck A-main and drove to his sixth straight win at Fremont after opening the season with a runner-up finish. The four time truck track champion sits atop Fremont's all-time win list with 88 career victories. Valenti had to deal with heavy lapped traffic the last third of the feature but he held off Jamie Miller with Keegan, Kent Brewer and Scott Milligan rounding out the top five. "I wasn't sure which way I needed to go and luckily I picked the right holes…I about got held up here on the last lap in three. Heck of a crowd here tonight and hopefully we put on a good show for them," said Valenti beside his Craig Miller Trucking, Conrad Transportation, Dave Story Equipment, A Plus Auto Center, Smolders Speed Concepts, Holman Drilling, S&S Hauling and Excavating #7B. Fremont Speedway will be back in action Saturday, July 12 for Crown Battery Night with the 410 and 305 sprints and dirt trucks on Date Night. The Kubota High Limit Sprint Car Series will be at The Track That Action Built Monday, July 14 with NASCAR star Kyle Larson and series stars Rico Abreu, Aaron Reutzel, Brad Sweet and others in action. - Shane Hopkins, Nick Baldwin and Rod Oliver earn 4th of July wins in front of large crowd at Placerville Speedway
Placerville, CA…Shane Hopkins has shown the impressive ability to pass cars over the last few seasons with more hard charger awards than anybody at Placerville Speedway. Starting on the front row last night, however, he battled Tony Gomes around the midway point of the feature, before taking the lead en route to his third career Winged 360 Sprint Car triumph at the track. Hopkins' win came aboard the familiar High Sierra Industries/ Anrak Corp. No. 21 mount. Sharing victory lane during the Independence Day showcase were Oakley's Nick Baldwin with the Red Hawk Resort + Casino Pure Stocks and Yuba City's Rod Oliver with the Kings Meats Ltd. Late Models. Despite having no fireworks due to the Esparto warehouse tragedy, the Placerville Speedway faithful filled the grandstands for what was an excellent night of racing and celebrating America. The 30-lap finale for the Thompson's Dealerships Winged Sprint Cars saw last week's winner Tony Gomes jump out front. The Modesto driver had won his heat race earlier out of starting position number four, which gave him the pole for the main event. With gorgeous temps during the evening for Independence Day, the racing remained hot and heavy with several intriguing battles taking place throughout the field. A lap 12 double file restart set up a big moment in the race, as Shane Hopkins stayed right with the leader. Hopkins blasted to the outside through one and two and grabbed the lead down the backstretch. Gomes wasn't done yet though and returned the favor on the next lap to move back out front. As he rounded turn two on lap 14 however, he got over the edge and dropped to third, with Hopkins and Austin Wood getting by. Hopkins drove a great race over the remaining distance and withstood a closing Gomes over the final couple circuits to accept the Ed Entz checkered flag. Gomes and Wood kept fans on the edge of their seats over the waning laps as they fought hard for the runner up. Behind Hopkins the top five read as Gomes, Wood, Lemoore's Gauge Garcia and Tucson, Arizona's Nick Parker. Rounding out the top 10 were Dustin Freitas, Dylan Bloomfield, 15th starting Chance Grasty, Isaiah Vasquez and 17th starting Braden Chiaramonte. With Andy Forsberg suffering a DNF we have a new point leader going into tonight, with young Austin Wood now up front. Forsberg is just four points back in second, while Gomes finds himself within six markers of the lead. Wood earned another ADCO Driveline Fast Time Award to begin the evening on Friday, pacing the 33-car field in time trials. The Red Hawk Casino Pure Stocks once again provided thrills in their main event, especially over the initial 10 circuits. Wayne Trimble, Kevin Jinkerson, Nick Baldwin and Ryan Peter all ran tightly together up front. The quartet put on a tremendous show for the fans with some good, clean, hard racing. On lap nine Baldwin grabbed the lead and would never look back on way to his 36th career Placerville Speedway Pure Stock win. In doing so, he tied Dennis Ahart for third all-time at the track. Kevin Jinkerson, Ryan Peter, Tyler Lightfoot and Wayne Trimble finished second through fifth in the 25-lap contest. The Kings Meats Ltd. Late Model main event was all about Rod Oliver, who raced away to claim his third career Placerville Speedway victory. Chris McGinnis led the opening two laps, before Oliver got by to grab the point. After that Oliver was in cruise control up front and crossed the stripe for the win ahead of Matt Micheli, Tyler Lightfoot, Matt Davis and Mcginnis. Placerville Speedway finishes off Independence Day weekend on Saturday July 5th with the inaugural Triple Crown presented by All Coast Construction and Avanti Windows & Doors. On tap will be the Thompson's Dealerships Winged 360 Sprint Cars, the Ultimate Sprint Car Series, the USAC Western States Midgets and Wingless BCRA Lightning Sprints. - Sheppard Secures First Lucas Oil Victory of the Season at Atomic
CHILLICOTHE, OH (July 4, 2025) - Brandon Sheppard earned his first Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win of the season on Friday night, taking the Independence 50 at Atomic Speedway. Sheppard inherited the lead when race leader Carson Ferguson went pit side under a caution after leading the first four laps. Sheppard went on to lead the rest of the way and secure the $25,000 win. It was Sheppard's 33rd career victory with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presented by FloRacing, tying him with Josh Richards. Josh Rice, who recovered after an oil leak was discovered before time trials, came from the 17th starting position to finish second. Jonathan Davenport rounded out the Big River Steel Podium in third. Davenport finished 5 points behind points leader Ricky Thornton Jr., who finished 16th after dropping out of the race while running in second. Davenport now leads Thornton by 55 points heading into Saturday's race at Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio. Daulton Wilson finished in fourth, with Donald McIntosh rounding out the top five drivers. Sheppard's visit to Lucas Oil Victory Lane is his first since February 8, 2024, at East Bay Raceway Park. "It feels so good. It's crazy that this was the place where we got our first Lucas Oil win this year. It's been a long time since I've won here. This place has been tough on me lately, but I can't thank my team enough for busting their tails this week to get this new car ready for us. Honestly, I've had the car messed up most of the year because of some stuff I was feeling in Florida, and we made some changes that caused more issues. I found some pretty good speed in my car during the Summer Nationals, so I told Mark what I did, and he said, well, that's where we should have been at the start of the year." Rice came home second after rallying from the inside of row nine. "I feel like I won the race about as badly as a comeback could be. It was probably the ugliest podium finish you will ever see from me. Like I said, we broke the oil line, my crew was covered in oil and everything else. We were goofing off and everything else six laps in, and I thought about pulling in. I was like, we got our start money. Then, it seemed like about eight cars broke, and more cars kept blowing up. After that long green flag run, I looked up on the board and saw I was in sixth. Daultin Wilson showed me the top down here in three and four. I was kind of decent, really, and then he showed me all the way around the top. That's when I really started to make up time." Davenport, coming off a red-hot month of June, where he won the Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway and his first Firecracker 100 at Lernerville Speedway, is positioning himself even better as he seeks his record-tying fourth series title. "It's something we've been searching for all year—getting the points lead. We got close to him (Thornton), but he pulled away again. I hate to take the points lead while he (Thornton) is having bad luck, but we've had our fair share of bad luck this year. In March, we spun out against a lapped car running second. Thanks to all of you fans for coming out and spending your Fourth of July with us. We appreciate it. I hope we put on a good show for you." The winner's Mark Richards Racing, Rocket Chassis is powered by a Durham Racing Engine and sponsored by Valvoline, Seubert Calf Ranches, Franklin Enterprises, Petroff Towing, Gunter's Honey, Ace Metal Works, Stiles Marine and Maintenance, Rocket 1 Pre-Owned Motors, Collins Brothers Towing, and Sunoco Race Fuels. Completing the top ten were Hudson O'Neal, Dan Ebert, Daniel Hilsabeck, Mike Marlar, and Clay Harris. - Jedrjezek Defeats All Challengers for GLSS Win at Limaland
Lima, OH - Limaland Motorsports Park has treated Kasey Jedrjezek good and bad in the 2025 season. Friday night, the Lagrange, Ohio native got all the right breaks and collected his second win with the Ohio CAT Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP of the season. Alongside Corbin Gurley, Jedrzejek led the 20 car field to the green flag on a version of Limaland that not many are used to; one that was pony up, full of character, and different on both ends. The battle to lead the first lap was intense as Jedrjezek, Gurley, and Chase Dunham went three wide down the backstretch. At the exit of turn four, it was Gurley and Jedrjezek still side-by-side for the lead. The pair made slight contact as Jedrjezek jumped out to the point. The first caution of the night flew five laps in when Frank Neil spun around entering turn one after jumping over the cushion. On the restart, Jedrjezek continued to lead as Dustin Daggett applied pressure on the podium while Gurley continued to try and stop the free fall from second. Near the halfway point of the race, Dunham found the quick way around Limaland, maintaining his gap to Jedrjezek in one and two, but gaining plenty of ground in three and four on the extreme top of the race track while Jedrjezek navigated lapped traffic. With six laps to go, Dunham had caught Jedrjezek and was working to make a pass to his outside off turn four. Dunham's car bounced into the front stretch wall and caught the crossover opening with the right front tire, ripping the front end out of his No.66, bringing his night to an end. In the final six rotations, Gurley drove his way back into the second spot, turning his fastest lap of the race with just four laps to go using a similar line that Dunham was using to try and take the lead. Gurley's drive to the front fell nine-tenths of a second short of his first win of the season. "I've gotta thank my guys, they gave me a great car all night," Jedrjezek said in victory lane. "We had a rough night last night, but this is a good way to rebound." The next event for the Ohio CAT Great Lakes Super Sprint is Saturday, July 6th for the quarter-mile special at Millstream Speedway alongside the Great Lakes Traditional Sprints and Dirt Trucks. Fans who can't make the trip can catch the action live at www.GreatLakesSprints.Tv. Kasey Jedrjezek was the Ti22 Performance Fast Qualifier. Kasey Jedrjezek won Engler Machine & Tool Heat Race Number One Corbin Gurley won Howard Johnson of Lima Heat Race Number Two. Chase Dunham won Miami Paint Heat Race Number Three. Gregg Dalman was the Operating Engineers 324 Hard Charger advancing five spots. - Dietrich Wins 20K In Grove Speedweek Mitch Smith Memorial - Gettysburg driver garners fourth career win in prestigious event
Mechanicsburg - Danny Dietrich scored the prestigious Mitch Smith Memorial for 410 sprint cars as part of Pennsylvania Speedweek at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night for the fourth time in his career. The recently crowned Ohio Speedweek champion, Dietrich pocketed $20,000 for his win in the 30-lap, 37th annual running of the event. The Gettysburg driver started third in the field and fell to fourth on the opening lap behind leader Brent Marks. Marks was chased early by Ryan Smith and Troy Wagaman Jr. before Wagaman used a good run off the inside of turn two on the ninth tour to motor into second. As Smith slipped backwards, Myerstown's Marks entered traffic on the 12th tour and it was then that Dietrich seemed to begin coming to life in the Kauffman No. 48 machine. He muscled by Wagaman for second on lap 13 just before the first caution flag of the race unfurled. The restart saw Marks keep Dietrich at bay as speedweek point leader and defending Smith Memorial champion Anthony Macri entered the top five. But by lap 18 Dietrich was trying Marks in every corner with Marks flying his No. 19M on the cushion and Dietrich blasting across the bottom. Dietrich finally took the lead for good on lap 20 with a low side bite off of the second corner. The new leader then entered the rear of the field with seven laps to go. A second caution period with five laps to go turned to a red flag for refueling and when action resumed, third runner Macri blasted his car under Marks in the first turn to narrowly come away with the second spot. Macri then tried to run down the leader but to no avail as Dietrich took the big victory by .789 seconds. It was Dietrich's first win of the season at Williams Grove, his seventh overall and the 33rd of his career at the Grove. His previous Smith Memorial wins came in 2013, 2016 and in 2019. Macri settled for second and maintained the speedweek point leader heading into the final two shows on Saturday and Sunday. Marks was third followed by Wagaman and Lance Dewease. Wagaman overtook Freddie Rahmer for the season point lead at the oval with his fourth place finish. Sixth through 10th went to Smith, Ashton Torgerson, Logan Schuchart, Lucas Wolfe and Chase Dietz. Heats for the 36 car field went to Marks, Dietrich, TJ Stutts and Smith with Tyler Ross claiming the B Main. Macri set fast time worth $300 from Fast Tees with a lap of 16.732 seconds. At the end of the night, Macri left the speedway as the speedweek point leader with 747 points to Dietrich's 724. Wagaman, Dietz and Freddie Rahmer currently hold third through fifth spot. - Lucius executes last lap, last corner pass for Attica 410 win
ATTICA, Ohio - Bryce Lucius - just 18 years of age - looked like a seasoned sprint car driving veteran Friday, July 4 at Attica Raceway Park. Lucius, in just his third year racing a 410 sprint car, waited until the last lap to diamond off the exit of turn four and drive under Cap Henry to score the victory by just .037 seconds on Sutton Bank/Heidelberg Materials Fan Appreciation Night. Lucius, who started eighth in the 30-lap, $4,500 to win Callie's Performance Products 410 Sprint feature, moved up to fifth on the opening lap as Trey Jacobs lead over Cap Henry, Cole Duncan and Jordan Ryan. Henry took the lead on lap five as he eyed his fifth win of the year at Attica. As Henry continued to lead, Lucius, the 2023 national 410 rookie of the year, moved into second with 10 laps to go. Lucius used lapped traffic to close on Henry with just give laps to go, setting up the last lap, last corner pass for the his third career Attica win. Henry, Jacobs, Duncan and Zeth Sabo rounded out the top five. "I don't even know what to say. Drew, my dad, Brian, mom, Kyle…everyone had be good all night. I really could go anywhere I needed to. I knew I had to wait until lapped traffic. I messed up a couple of laps before and I let him (Henry) get back away from me. Entering turn three I just pulled the wing back and never lifted," said Lucius beside his Truck Worx of Ohio, Jackos Sprint Parts, Smith Titanium, Big Red Truck Wash, Integrity Auto and Trucks Bucyrus, XR-1 Race Cars, STP Motorsports #32. Henry, who hasn't finished out of the top three in eight of the nine races at Attica in 2025, builds on his lead in the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group as he looks to add a fourth series title. Greg Haskell, from Chatham Ontario, Canada, has been making the long tow to Attica Raceway Park week after week, year after year. All that effort and patience finally paid off as he took the lead in the Dirt Nerds Podcast UMP Late Model A-main on lap three and held off several late race challenges from defending track champion Kyle Moore to score his first ever Attica victory and first win in the United States. The non-stop 25 lap feature saw Moore, who won the previous two late model features at Attica, come home second with early race leader Mike Bores third, Collin Shipley fourth and Ryan Missler rounding out the top five. "I didn't even know where to go or what to do after winning. That was the longest last five laps of my life. I was waiting for Devin (Shiels) or Kyle to fly by. I've been coming here for a long time and I vowed to keep coming here until I get a win. We lost one of our good buddies this past winter to cancer and this one is definitely for him. I didn't know if we would ever get this win. The lapped cars seemed to be everywhere and I didn't really know what I was doing. I was just letting the car go wherever it wanted to and hoping it would stick. Kyle Moore is not going to be happy that he told me one of his secrets last week. I think that really helped. I love this place and keep coming back," said Haskell beside his L&M Racing, Haulin' Haskells Performance Fiberglass & Marine, Kent Home Hardware, Moran Family Dentistry, Tye Tworg Racing, Tru Form Performance, Alley Bar and Grill, Appledore Farms, Dig R. Wright #RH21. Jamie Miller is having another one of those dominant seasons in the Fremont Fence 305 Sprint division. The Fremont, Ohio driver and defending Attica champion took the lead from Dustin Stroup on lap 13 from his sixth starting position and drove to his fifth win of the year at Attica. Miller, who now has 10 overall victories in 2025, moved to fourth on Attica's all time win list with 50 checkers in his career. It wasn't easy as Stroup used heavy lapped traffic to stay within striking distance of Miller but as they raced to the white flag, Stroup jumped the cushion and spun. Miller drove away the final two laps for the win over Paul Weaver, Dustin Dinan, John Ivy and Seth Schneider. Miller also pads his lead in the Real Geese Decoys/Real Capz Attica Fremont Championship Series as he looks to repeat as the series champion. "This is just an unbelievable year. The engines are working great, the car is handling great and we're having a ton of fun," said Miller beside his Boca Construction, JLH General Contractors, Kenny Kolb Farms, Tuck Pointing America, Queen of Clean, Smitty's Pizza, Roberts & Sons Contracting, Pizza Wheel, Crown Battery, Pub 400., Reedtown Tavern, Fostoria Mod Shop, Sandy's Dad, Gressman Powersports, Phil Rister, Slade Shock Technology backed #26.
