- Swiernik Doubles Up, Wins Night Two of ESS Speedweek at Utica-Rome
By Curtis Berleue (Vernon, NY) | For the second night in a row, Dylan Swiernik found himself in victory lane at the conclusion of on-track action. The $2,500 victory extended the Port Leyden, NY drivers lead in the weeklong points chase as the tour nears the middle of the week. 'The Cobra' Chuck Hebing drew the Pinnacle Pole, and thus led the field to green for 25 laps alongside of Sammy Reakes IV. Hebing jumped out to the lead early, with Jordan Poirier moving up from 5th to second and Dylan Swiernik in third behind him. With Poirier on the low side and Hebing through the middle, the lead duo pulled away from the rest of the field through the opening five laps. By lap 8 they caught lap traffic, allowing Dylan Swiernik to close in on them. Using a lap car as a pick on lap 9, Swiernik got by Poirier for second and set his sights on Hebing. Poirier wasn't about to give up though, as just two laps later he fought back to the inside of Swiernik. He was unable to get by him, though, and a lap later Swiernik again used lap traffic to his advantage, taking over the lead from Hebing as they crossed the halfway mark. A mishap in turns one and two would set back Poirier two spots, with both Paulie Colagiovanni and Logan Crisafulli slipping by. Again not to be outdone, Poirier fought back onto the podium a handful of laps later. Out front, Swiernik had opened up his lead to over a second, and was able to successfully navigate lap traffic to remain unchallenged, crossing under the checkers first for the second time in as many nights. "This is unbelievable, usually I'm terrible here," said Swiernik in victory lane. "They (Hebing and Poirier) made it tough. I wish he (Hebing) would go back into retirement because he ran a little too good." Making a rare appearance after scaling back his racing efforts, Chuck Hebing held on for second. "I was putting that car together for Lacey, I kinda still had an itch and thought I needed to come out one more time," said Hebing. "The car was good, In just did a bad job myself in the lap traffic and that's when Dylan gained on me and got by me." Rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery Podium was Jordan Poirier in third. "I was trying to venture out, my best line was out of two," said Poirier. "My car wasn't great in the middle, I was really good on the bottom. As soon as I would venture out I would struggle." 31 cars signed into the pits for night two of the Pitre Painting CNY Speedweek. The field was split into three timed hot lap groups, with Danny Varin, Jordan Poirier and Matt Farnham earning Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards. Elab Smokers Boutique heat races were won by Billy VanInwegen, Jordan Poirier and Chuck Hebing. The Advanced Electrical and Communications LLC. Dash was won by Danny Varin, while Chase Moran won the Lacaillade Masonry B-Main. The Empire Super Sprints CNY Speedweek continues tonight, July 4th at the Brewerton Speedway in Brewerton, NY. - Swiernik Opens ESS CNY Speedweek With Win at Can-Am
By Curtis Berleue (LaFargeville, NY) | On the opening night of the 2025 version of the Empire Super Sprints Central NY Speedweek, it was all Dylan Swiernik as he went quick time in his group, won his heat and won the A-Main en-route to a $2,500 payday. Dillon Paddock and Davie Franek would bring the field to green for 25 laps. As the field got to turn one, Franek would get a little sideways allowing Paddock to take an early lead. Matt Tanner would fall in line behind him, with Franek relegated back to third. 10th-starting Jordan Poirier made quick work of all 10 cars in front of him, as he passed Paddock for the lead coming to the start/finish line on lap 4. For the next handful of laps, Poirier paced the field, though Paddock didn't let him out of his sight. On lap 8, Dylan Swiernik entered the chat for the podium as he passed Franek for third, coming from his 8th starting spot. A caution shortly after stacked the field up for a restart. Poirier jumped back out to the lead, with Swiernik picking off another car for the second spot. As the laps clicked off, the lead duo started to pull away from the field. On lap 13, Swiernik saw his opportunity coming off of turn two and used a run he had built on the bottom to his advantage, rocketing past Poirier for the lead. With a clear track in front of him, Swiernik didn't look back, almost immediately building a lead of over two seconds. Through the remaining laps, Poirier wasn't able to get back to Swiernik, who picked up his first win of 2025. "It was amazing," said Swiernik of his new car in victory lane. "I didn't really realize when that caution came out how far ahead I was." "I was able to stay with him (Poirier) off of three and four, made my move in two and just pulled away for the win from there." Jordan Poirier earned the A-Verdi Storage Containers Hard Charger award by virtue of going 10th to 2nd. "I knew my car was going away out of two, everybody was throwing dust from the bottom to the top," said Poirier. "I felt like somebody would need a good car to pass me still, but then I saw Dylan could go middle, top bottom. I tried to follow him but I was stuck where the track was clean, I couldn't really go up in the dust." Finishing third was Billy VanInwegen. "I just have to clean up a couple of things on my end," said VanInwegen. "I got off to a really rough start, missed my marks a couple of times. What a racetrack though, that was a really cool race, the track changed a lot throughout the race and it just took me a little bit to get back in the swing of things." 29 cars signed in for the first night of Central NY Speedweek, splitting the field into three timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Jason Barney, Dylan Swiernik and Davie Franek. Elab Smokers Boutique heat races were won by Dalton Rombough, Dylan Swiernik and Davie Franek. The Cooks Hardware Dash went to Danny Varin, while Chad Phelps won the Lacaillade Masonry B-Main. - Wolff doubles up with Keller, Edde also scoring Lucas Oil Speedway Casey's Thursday Night Thunder wins
WHEATLAND, MO. (July 3, 2025) - What a Thursday night it was for Tyler Wolff at Lucas Oil Speedway. Wolff, gobbling up huge chunks of ground over the final five laps, caught and passed race-long leader Tanner Mullens on the final lap to capture the Heartland Modified Tour-Arctic Food Equipment USRA Modified feature win on Casey's Thursday Night Thunder. That wasn't all for the Fayetteville, Ark., driver. Wolff came back a couple of races later and scored a runaway win in the Hermitage Lumber Late Model main event to make the kickoff to his July 4th holiday weekend even better. "I never thought I'd ever win here in a Late Model and I sure never thought I'd win twice in the same night. It's incredible," Wolff said after the Late Model win. Wolff earned $2,000 for the victory in the Heartland Modified Tour headliner in front of a big crowd that stuck around to enjoy post-race fireworks. There were 53 USRA Modifieds in the pits as a total of 152 cars in four divisions were on hand for the holiday special. Other winners on the program, which featured a kids' bicycle giveaway during intermission, were Doug Keller (O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars) and Ryan Edde (Clear Creek Golf Cars USRA B-Mods). Wolff appeared to be a longshot for the Modified win as Mullens, who already had won six HMT features this season, had a three-second lead with just a handful of laps remaining. But Wolff didn't give up and emerged from his car an excited winner in victory lane. "There's cars parked all the way out to the highway. It's incredible to see everyone here," Wolff said of the crowd. "It's awesome to win in front of everyone. I can't believe we got the win. Tanner was pretty good and that lapped traffic helped us out." Mullens started from the pole and rolled to a 2.4-second lead after just five laps. Wolff got around Fuqua for second by lap 10, but faced a three-second deficit to the leader. Wolff soon began to whittle the margin during an extended green-flag run, drawing within 1.4 seconds by lap 17 as Fuqua was another three seconds back. Racing in lapped traffic, Mullens' margin was down to one second by lap 21. But then Mullens took advantage of Wolff's troubles clearing slower cars and extended his lead back to nearly three seconds over the next two laps. With action remaining caution-free, Wolff cleared traffic and starting to close ground. He was right behind Mullens by lap 28, then caught and passed the leader on the inside of turn two on the final circuit to pull off the victory. "I knew I wanted to try one last-ditch effort," Wolff said. "I didn't want to show my nose until that last lap and made it work. I'm glad to be here. It's nice to be sitting in the catbird seat every once in a while. I was watching what he was doing and I knew if I could stick it in one and two I'd have a pretty good chance. It worked out." Mullens was disqualified in post-game technical inspection. That elevated Terry Phillips to second place with Fuqua third, Nic Bidinger fourth and Cole Campbell fifth. Wolff dominated Late Model field: There was no need for late-race dramatics for Wolff in the Hermitage Lumber Late Model main event. Wolff led every lap in winning by 14.6 seconds over runner-up Robbe Ewing to finish off his double. "Man, I have to thank Jimmy Mars and the crew," Wolff said. "I have a whole bunch of guys here helping me out and that's what made this possible. It was a long day today. "We bought this car last year and crashed it pretty bad. We got it put back together and finally got a chance to race. We threw one of the A-Mod motors in there to see what we could do." Wolff rolled to a 3.8-second lead over Darron Fuqua just five laps into the Late Model feature and the command grew to just over five seconds by lap seven. The leader caught lapped by lap nine, but it didn't slow him down as the lead remained at five seconds with eight circuits remaining. Without a caution to give anyone else a chance, Wolff's beatdown continued. Wolff prevailed by 18 seconds over Ewing, who went from fourth to second on the final lap. Fuqua was third with Tucker Cox fourth and Johnny Fennewald fifth. Keller wins USRA Stock Cars with late pass: Doug Keller of Easton, Mo., made his first O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars start of the season a winning one, leading the final two circuits to beat Tyler Cadwallader for the feature win. For much of the race, it appeared that Mason Beck would lead all 20 laps. The pole-starting Beck set the pace from the start with Cadwallader advancing from fifth to second by lap two. Beck had a five-second lead five laps in when the race's second caution appeared. Keller applied pressure on Beck after the restart, with several others close behind. Keller repeatedly tried to find a way around Beck and finally squeezed past the leader on the inside of turn one on lap 16. But as those two battled, Cadwallader grabbed the lead on lap 17 only to see Keller regain the point the next time around. Keller was able to hang on the final two laps and beat Cadwallader by .781 seconds. "It's hard racing your friends," Keller said. "Mason was a little bit slower on entry and I kept backing the corner up hoping I could get a run. Once I got door-to-door, I was like 'dude, you at least have to give me a lane.' Then we got all kinds of crazy there for a lap and we were three wide. I was like 'calm down and and get back to your marks. "I love to run the bottom and made it stick there and it felt pretty good." Beck settled for third with William Garner fourth and Justin Custer fifth. Edde all the way in USRA B-Mods: Ryan Edde of Cross Timbers started on the pole and led all 20 laps for the Clear Creek Golf Cars USRA B-Mod victory, his first career win at Lucas Oil Speedway. "I've raced here for a long time and this is the first one," Edde said. "The track was to my liking tonight, nice and slick, and I just tried to be smooth and steady and not make too many mistakes." Ryan Gillmore started fifth and moved into second by lap four and began his pursuit of Edde, but he was 1.5 seconds behind at the midpoint on lap 10. A caution on lap 11 wiped out Edde's margin with nine to go. Edde got away on the restart to a half-second lead that he maintained by lap 15 over Gillmore and Jon Sheets. Edde stretched it out to a full second by lap 18 and took it home from there for his first Lucas Oil Speedway win of the season, beating Gillmore by 1.5 seconds. Sheets was third with Ewing fourth and JC Morton fifth. - Stambaugh Charges from Fifth for GLSS Win at Waynesfield
Waynesfield, OH - Three of Max Stambaugh's six feature wins in 2025 have come from the front row. Tonight, Stambaugh proved he can pass racecars to win as well, rolling off fifth for the 25 lap main event from Waynesfield Raceway Park. Jared Horstman and Kasey Jedrzejek led the field to green and the race was intense from the drop of the green flag. Horstman got the holeshot in turns one and two, behind him it was three wide for the third spot with Stambaugh, Jac Nickles, and Darren Dryden battling for the final step of the podium while Jedrzejek held down second. Stambaugh took the second spot at the line and went to work trying to catch Horstman. Meanwhile, Keith Sheffer, Jr, who started ninth, was battling with Jedrzejek for third as Nickles and Dryden fell back. With seven laps complete, Sheffer quickly closed in on Stambaugh and brought Jedrzejek with him, but a bobble on the cushion in turns three and four kicked Sheffer's No.14 sideways and Jedrzejek had nowhere to hide as he clipped the front of Sheffer sending the No.11N for a flip in turn four. All drivers were uninjured. On the restart, Stambaugh challenged Horstman for the lead but tucked in line. The race was slowed for a second time when Chase Dunham spun in turn one which ended his night. Dustin Daggett was on the move after the restart, putting his No.85 on the top of the race track to build momentum but making technical passes in traffic around the bottom. At the front, Stambaugh used the bottom of the race track as well to catch Horstman in traffic. With seven laps to go, the No.71H put his car to the front of the field; however, his journey to six wins wasn't complete yet. Kobe Allison spun at the top of turn four as the field was coming to the white flag, setting up a green-white-checkered finish. Stambaugh fired on the bottom of the race track and was committed to that line for the final two rotations. Horstman, on the other hand, tried to build as much momentum as he could on the top of the track but couldn't pull in Stambaugh who got the win. Daggett moved up five from his starting spot to finish third, Nickels fourth, Mike Keegan from 12th to round out the top five. "You know me, I like when the bottom comes in a little bit," Stambaugh said after the race. "Jared was spinning his tires off two and I think I got my wing back quicker than him, but I knew when that yellow came out, Jared would have something for me. I'm sure he went to the top [on the restart], I rolled the wing back and said 'He's gonna have to beat me around the top'." The next even for the Ohio CAT Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP is Friday, July 4th at Limaland Motorsports Park for Firecracker Friday. Fans who can't make the trip can catch the action LIVE on www.GreatLakesSprints.Tv. Jared Horstman was the Ti22 Performance Fast Qualifier. Jared Horstman won Engler Machine and Tool Heat Race Number One. Kasey Jedrzejek won Howard Johnson by Wyndham Heat Race Number Two. Darren Dryden won Miami Pain Heat Race Number Three. - Williams Grove Announces Sept. 12 Schedule Change - 358 sprints added to lineup
Mechanicsburg —In coordination with the PA Sprint Series, Williams Grove Speedway has made a change to its schedule on Friday, September 12. Originally slated to include action for the PASS 305s, the HJ Towing & Recovery 358 sprints will now replace the PASS on the schedule. The oval has yet to complete a 358 sprint car race this season due to the uncanny timing of rain each time a race has been attempted thus the revision to the lineup on September 12. The change will give the 358 sprint teams a much-needed opportunity to compete and make up for at least one of the many races lost on the season. Williams Grove Speedway appreciates the understanding of PASS management and all PASS teams and fans as both organizations work together to effect this change in scheduling. Williams Grove looks forward to the return of the PASS 305s in the 2026 racing season. Keep up to date on all the latest speedway news and information by visiting the oval's official website at www.williamsgrove.com or by visiting the oval on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.
