- Esparto Facility explosion pauses Fireworks show at Placerville Speedway / RACES ARE STILL ON
Placerville, CA…Russell Motorsports Inc. has made the announcement that due to yesterday's unfortunate fireworks facility explosion in Esparto, this Friday's fireworks display following the races has been canceled. The race program, however, will still be contested with the Thompson's Winged 360 Sprint Cars, Red Hawk Casino Pure Stocks and Kings Meats Ltd. Late Models taking to the track. "The company that was supplying and housing our fireworks that were to be used on Friday night, was part of yesterday's unfortunate explosion and fire in Esparto," commented Placerville Speedway Promoter Scott Russell. This devastating incident resulted not only in the complete loss of our fireworks supplier's inventory, but more importantly, the loss of lives of individuals who have long been part of bringing celebration and joy to communities across California, including ours. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the families, friends, and team members affected by this heartbreaking event. We understand how much our community looks forward to the Independence Day fireworks at the speedway each year. It is a tradition we cherish, and one we hoped to continue in 2025. However, out of respect for those lost and due to the unforeseen loss of available inventory, we have no choice but to cancel this year's fireworks portion of the event. As noted, the July 4th race program will continue as scheduled. We thank our fans for their understanding and continued support, and we encourage everyone to keep the families impacted by the Esparto tragedy in their hearts during this holiday. For those who would like to request a refund, please email info@eventsprout.com. The EventSprout team will be available to process refund requests. - Tripleheader Ohio Weekend Ahead for Great Lakes Super Sprints
Merrill, MI - Celebrating 249 years of Independence, the Ohio CAT Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP are headed into the Holiday weekend with three races and three tracks on the schedule. Waynesfield Raceway Park kicks off the weekend on Thursday, Limaland Motorsports Park holds the middle of the weekend on Friday, with the quarter-mile at Millstream Raceway wrapping up the tripleheader. In the first visit to Waynesfield Raceway Park in May, Devon Dobie dominated from the front of the field. Collecting his first win of the 2025 season, nearly 10 years to the day since his first career win, Dobie executed precision around "The Field of Speed" alongside timely cautions to get the win over Bryan Sebetto, Kasey Jedrzejek, Max Stambaugh, and Jared Horstman. Limaland Motorsports Park has hosted four GLSS races in 2025, three of which have seen Stambaugh go to Victory Lane. Jedrzejek was the lone driver who interrupted the Stambaugh winning streak back on May 23rd. As for Millstream Speedway, a trip to the quarter-mile awaits on Saturday after the first trip to the half-mile was cancelled in May. The Great Lakes Super Sprints were the first ever sanction to race on the quarter-mile when track conditions on the half-mile resulted in the event being moved to the quarter-mile. Zane DeVault, who won both visits to Millstream last season, held off Greg Wilson, Kasey Jedrzejek, Chase Dunham, and Narin Naida for the first ever Millstream quarter-mile win. The 2025 Championship Points battle remains tight for the Great Lakes Super Sprints Tour. Max Stambaugh and Jared Horstman both collected their fifth win of the season with wins at Tri-City and Crystal respectively. Horstman holds an 18 point advantage over Stambaugh heading into the weekend with Dustin Daggett third 181 points back. In the Ohio CAT Division, Stambaugh has a 106-point advantage on Jared Horstman, but the top six in points remain one night's full-points away from the lead. With 225 points available per night, Devon Dobie sits third 114 back, Phil Gressman fourth 168 behind, defending Ohio CAT Champion, Dustin Daggett sits 169 points behind Stambaugh, and Chase Dunham is 171 points back. Gates open at 4:00 PM on Thursday at Waynesfield, 5:00 PM Friday at Limaland, and 4:00 PM Saturday at Millstream. Fans who can't make the trip can watch all the action LIVE at www.GreatLakesSprints.Tv. For more information on the Great Lakes Super Sprints, log onto www.GreatLakesSprints.com. - Arenz grabs mixed bag at IRA Bloomington, Butler jaunt
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 2, 2025 - It was a tale of two nights for Travis Arenz and the Travis Arenz Motorsports team during a doubleheader weekend of Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series action at Bloomington Speedway in Indiana on Friday, June 27 and Butler Motor Speedway in Michigan on Saturday, June 28. Arenz's first visit to the quarter-mile high-banked Bloomington Speedway red clay oval in Bloomington, Ind. was one to forget. After struggling to muster the 28th fastest lap in the 29-car field, the 18th-year racer moved from 10th to seventh in the first eight-lap heat race to finish one spot out of an A-main transfer spot. He then placed third in the IRA B main to gain the 24th starting position in the 30-lap A main. However, Arenz pulled off early on, resulting in a 24th-place showing. "I thought Bloomington was a neat place," Arenz said. "I would be curious to see how things would have gone if the track didn't get as much rain and the surface wasn't crap. With having to start at the tail of the feature and already slicing two new tires, we decided to be smart, save our equipment and keep a few laps off our motor. Considering those factors, I chose to pull off in the early laps of the feature." One night later, at Butler Motor Speedway in Quincy, Mich., proved to be an improvement as Arenz opened the night by securing fast qualifier honors in the 37-car field with a lap of 13.382 seconds around the three-eighths-mile high-banked dirt oval. After placing second in the first heat race and third in IRA dash 1, the Sheboygan Falls, Wis. driver started the 30-lap main event from the fifth starting position. He wavered between fourth and seventh place throughout the event before coming home with a strong fifth-place showing to mark his fifth top-five finish of the 2025 campaign. "I liked racing at Butler," Arenz said. "It was sort of a combination of a few tracks we run frequently. I enjoy competing at new tracks to test my skills." With the IRA off until the end of July, Arenz is unsure if he will enter any races in the coming weeks. The IRA season will resume with a tripleheader weekend starting Friday, July 26 at Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, Wis., moving on to Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Saturday, July 27 and ending up at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. on Sunday, July 28. "As for the plans in the next few weeks, it's up in the air as of now," Arenz said. "If I can, I would like to race a time or two to keep my skills sharp." The 2025 Travis Arenz Motorsports sponsorship partners include Professional Plating Inc., Service One Transportation Inc., Don and Lynn Kiel, Oostburg Concrete, Wittkopp Funeral and Cremation Services, Pfeffer Trucking, Carbliss, Oostburg State Bank, PalletWorks LLC, Jensen Sales and Service, Roth's Auto Restoration, Sonntag Plumbing Inc., Amy Bruechert Realty, Lake Auto Glass, Fastenal, Hair Fellers Barbershop, Arenz Auto Detailing and Duehring's Tax Service. - Pokorski posts PDTR 360 top 10 No. 4
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 1, 2025 - Alex Pokorski kept his string of strong performances in Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car competition right on track by racking up another top-10 A-main showing behind the wheel of the No. 4 Akright Auto car at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, June 28. Pokorski opened the evening with a bang by nailing down his fast qualifier award of the 2025 season with a top lap of 12.678 seconds. From there, the West Bend, Wis. native put together an impressive run to second after starting fourth in the third eight-lap PDTR 360 Sprint Car heat race. The A-main provided some challenging and unlucky situations. After lining up fifth, the fifth-year Sprint Car competitor got shuffled back at the start and could never fully recover. Despite a valiant effort to move up to the front of the pack along the outside and later the inside groove of the third-mile semi-banked clay oval, Pokorski fell back four positions to post a ninth-place finish. Following three consecutive podium finishes in his first three PDTR 360 Sprint Car starts, Pokorski racked up his fourth top-10 A-main showing of the 2025 campaign. "The night started well, setting quick time," Pokorski said. "I was actually a bit tight and felt we could've been even faster. We continued well into the heat race and got into the invert. Unfortunately, we started in the non-preferred groove on the top-dominant track. We were decently fast, just lost a few spots on both starts. Things got congested later and I couldn't make the moves I wanted to." After taking the Fourth of July weekend off, Alex Pokorski-Akright Auto Racing Team is planning to make its fifth appearance of the 2025 campaign with the Akright Auto 360 Sprint Cars at The Plymouth Dirt Track on Saturday, July 12 for Plymouth Racing Wall of Fame Night. - TURNER TAKES $5,000 SOS WIN AT BRIGHTON
BRIGHTON, Ont. (June 28, 2025) - Ryan Turner took the win in round three of the Gold Crown Super Series with the Southern Ontario Sprints at Brighton Speedway on Saturday night. The win was worth $5,000 thanks to Nitro 54 Variety, Tammy 10 Media, and Ackland Insurance. Ryan Turner and Matt Billings made up the front row for the 25-lap main event. Turner took off at the drop of the green flag and was hooked up on the high side while championship leader Darren Dryden tried to hunt him down. OHSWEKEN, Ont. (June 27, 2025) - Dylan Westbrook took the win in round two of the Gold Crown Super Series with the Southern Ontario Sprints at Ohsweken Speedway on Friday night. - Lucas Oil Speedway Spotlight: Dayton Pursley overcomes nerves, tough competition
WHEATLAND, MO. (July 1, 2025) - Ask Dayton Pursley about his first Arctic Food Equipment USRA Modified feature win on June 21 at Lucas Oil Speedway and the 22-year-old from nearby Hermitage quickly recalls the nerves. They even carried over to victory lane, where he struggled to enjoy the moment because he couldn't find the words to properly describe his emotions. "I felt like Ricky Robby. I didn't know what to do with my hands," Pursley said with a laugh. "But seriously, it was really cool. With the talent at Wheatland, on a weekly basis, is was awesome. I'm just blessed to race with that group of people and to come out on top that one." Pursley will race for the first time since his memorable victory at this week's Casey's Thursday Night Thunder program when an even deeper, more talented field visits. The Heartland Modified Tour will sanction the main event for the Modifieds, with several United States Modified Touring Series drivers expected for the 25-lap, $2,000-to-win feature. "You can only get better when you race the best, so I enjoy that aspect," Pursley said. Winning at Lucas Oil Speedway is special for Pursley, who grew up coming there to watch his dad, Jason, compete in the Modified division. Dayton picked up his first feature win at the track in 2023, in the Clear Creek Golf Cars USRA B-Mod class. Dayton Pursley said it's tough to pick which one is more meaningful. "This one probably topped it because it was in an A-Mod … but the B-Mod was my first win at Lucas, so that probably has a little more meaning," he said. "I don't know. The A-Mod, I think tops it. They're both special." Making the recent win more remarkable, it was only his second time out in the MB Customs car he purchased from Lucas Gibbs. Pursley briefly flirted with a non-wing sprint car earlier this season, driving to an 18th place in a feature at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley. He decided to sell that car a few weeks ago and go back to his roots. "I wanted to try something new," he said of the sprint car. "I had the opportunity to buy one. I've always wanted to race a sprint car since I was young and I had an opportunity so I went and did it. But there's just not enough places to race around home, so I went back to Modifieds." Pursley credited Gibbs and another Modified driver, Tyler Wolff, along with Jason Pursley for their help in getting the right set-up. Dayton only had made about five laps in the car at Wheatland the week prior to his feature win, in which he took the lead early and led the rest of the way - though it wasn't easy. Holding off a hard-charging Dustin Hodges over the final laps tested Pursley's mettle. "I definitely lost focus on the last two," Pursley said. "I was watching the video board and it almost bit me. We were going 25 laps instead of 20, so it was five extra laps to be nervous. The first 23, I was OK. The last two, I knew the competition behind me was so stout that I didn't know what to do. I didn't know if they were on the top or close to me. "I missed my mark the last lap. I was watching the board a little too close." But he held on by a couple of car lengths and took the checkers. "I'm just blessed to have that opportunity to finally get it done," said Pursley, who gets help on the car from his grandfather, Mike Terrell, along with his dad and Wolff. Team sponsors include Loto Boat Lifts, Sweet Temptations, Earl-F-Electric, Tom Campbell Racing. Branch's Construction, Rick Keller Construction, MB Customs, DK Safety Solutions, Lobo Racing and Mach One Motorsports. Racing, bicycles and fireworks: Casey's Thursday Night Thunder has a little bit of everything to kick off the July 4th weekend from top-notch action on the track, a big kids' bicycle giveaway during intermission and the area's largest fireworks extravaganza Preseneted by AM Pyrotechnics to conclude the night. The Hermitage Lumber Late Models, O'Reilly Auto Parts Stock Cars and Clear Creek Golf Cars USRA B-Mods will join the Arctic Food Equipment/Heartland Modified Tour on the program. The speedway is rounding up new bicycles and is asking fans, drivers and sponsors for help in either donating bikes for kids up to age 12 or money that can be used to purchase the bicycles. Donations will be accepted up until Thursday night and bicycles can be brought to the pit office prior to the races and cash donations can be dropped off at the office this week. Youngsters ages 5 through 12 are invited to sign up at the RCR Designs Jr Fan Club table before intermission for a chance to enter a drawing for the new bicycles of various sizes. General Manager Danny Lorton said the goal is to have a bicycle for every kid in attendance or at least 100 bikes for the kids to take home that evening.
