- 40 CONTENDERS IN SPEEDCAR CHAMPIONSHIP
Murray Machining & Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway hosts the 83rd running of the Australian Speedcar Championship this weekend. A quality field of 40 drivers have entered for the 2 night event, which starts this Friday, April 11th, followed by the final on Saturday, April 12th. The format will see drivers contest 2 rounds of heats on Night 1, before the field is split for two Preliminary Features. Saturday night then features another 2 rounds of heats, before the Pole Shuffle, B Main and the 40 Lap championship decider. Amongst the nominations is Kaidon Brown, who claimed the title when it was last held at the MMS venue back in the 2017/2018 season and New Zealand's Travis Buckley (pictured) who won this year's SA Title in November. Jack McCarthy leads the local entries as the current Pro Speedcar Week Champion, and is joined by Brendan Zadow, Robert Heard and Melissa Crouch who have all enjoyed success in other racing divisions. A strong Victorian contingent crosses the border, featuring the likes of Dillon Ghent, Caleb Mills and Nick Parker, while Western Australia is also well represented with Tom Payet, Keenan Fleming and Beau Doyle. Luke Geering (NSW), Matt Jackson (NSW), Harry Stewart (QLD), Brock Webster (TAS) and Mitchell Sanderson (ACT) are amongst the other interstate competitors. The competition is also bolstered by several Kiwis with Hayden Williams, Kaleb Currie, Brad Mosen and 10 time New Zealand Champion Micheel Pickens. The event is supported by the re-scheduled running of the Formula 500s 65 Roses Championship, presented by Jettco EFI & PMP Chassis Australian which proudly raises support and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis. Junior Formula 500s will also be in action across both nights, with Classic Speedcars on Night 1 and the V6 Sprints Memorial Race on night 2. Racing kicks off 5.30 on both nights, with gates open from 4pm. Tickets for the event are available online via www.speedwaytickets.com.au, with general admission also available at the gate. Super Sedans will be back in action at Murray Machining & Sheds, Murray Bridge Speedway for another double header this Friday and Saturday night. Friday night features the Super Sedans Cowland 42, along with Junior Sedans, Street Stocks and demonstration runs from Classic Supermodifieds. While Saturday night features the South Australian Super Sedan Title, plus the South Australian V6 Sprints Title, with Street Stocks also back in action for night 2. 28 drivers will be in action across the Super Sedan events, including newly crowned Australian Champion Joel Berkeley (QLD) and defending South Australian Champion Callum Harper (TAS) (pictured). Nick Hall will also be back to defend his SA Title in the V6 Sprints. - WHO WILL BE AUSTRALIA #1?
Forty three competitors representing six states will do battle in the 2025 SSA Blenks Automotive and Performance National Super Sedan Title at Murray Bridge Speedway this weekend. A class field headlined by five time and defending National Super Sedan Champion Darren Kane (pictured) will battle it out to be Australia 1. Kane will be joined by another twelve drivers from Queensland, including four time National Champion Matty Pascoe, current National Series Champion Brad Pascoe, former National Champion Trent Wilson, and 2024 Ian Boettcher Classic winner JJ Hamilton. Victoria will have a strong travelling contingent of twelve drivers looking to take out a National Title. Current Victorian Champion Mick Nicola Jnr will be right in the mix, as will former three time National Champion Mick Nicola Snr. Brock Atkins, Jamie Collins, Brad Wicks and Dylan Barrow will also be gunning for glory come feature time on Sunday night. Tasmania has an impressive seven drivers making the trip to Murray Bridge. Former two time National Champion Callum Harper will be chasing a third title, whilst Steve Latham, David Nichols and Luke Gunn will be out for a first National Crown. The home state will be represented by six drivers, with Dave Gartner from Penola, and Murray Bridge's own Paul Blenkiron leading the charge for the home state. Three drivers will make the enormous trek from Western Australia for the title, with Robin Knox, Tristan Green and Ian Wright looking to put on a show in South Australia. Tyson Moon will be the lone New South Welshman in the field as he chases a maiden National Title aboard his Moons Earthworks Sweet Chassis. The action will get underway on Friday the 14th of March with scrutineering, practice, and the Calcutta. Things will set serious on Saturday the 15th of March with three rounds of heats. The action will conclude on Sunday the 16th of March with the final round of heats before the B Mains, and the forty lap main event to crown a National Champion. All the action will be live on Clay-Per-View if you can't make it to the track.
