- Arkansas driver Cody Gardner stuns Thunderbowl Raceway crowd with Friday Trophy Cup victory
Tulare, CA…Making his first career start at Thunderbowl Raceway this week Benton, Arkansas racer Cody Gardner looked like a season veteran at the track on Friday night, scooping up victory at the Abreu Vineyards Trophy Cup benefiting the Rayce Rudeen Foundation. Gardner made the move by Colby Copeland and fended off a late challenge to bring home the win aboard the Burkham Contracting No. 6 Sprint Car. The 30-lap Trophy Cup night two feature started with Colby Copeland and Bud Kaeding leading the field down to green. The action was hot and heavy right off the bat, with several battles taking place throughout the field. Copeland, driving the C&M Motorsports No. 7C this weekend, shot out front ahead of Cody Gardner who claimed second early on. Gardner had picked up an impressive heat race win earlier in the program hounded the leader and would carve his way past on lap 10 to assume the point. Copeland then began to deal with a very fast Bud Kaeding, as the pair exchanged the second spot on multiple occasions. The Roseville driver eventually got the better of it and closed back in on Gardner to make it race for the win going down to the wire. Gardner was certainly kept on his toes as Copeland stayed withing striking distance for several circuits. The Arkansas wheelman was up to the challenge though and drove off to accept the Ed Entz checkered flag for the huge triumph. Copeland came home in second with Bud Kaeding rounding out the podium. Sebastopol's Joel Myers Jr. had an exciting run to finish in fourth, followed by Hollister's Ryan Bernal in fifth. Completing the top 10 were Anthony Macri, Hard Charger Justyn Cox, Tim Kaeding, Landon Brooks and Caeden Steele. Cody Gardner goes into the Trophy Cup finale with a one-point lead over Tim Kaeding. The top five drivers in points are separated by just four points in one of the closest races in recent memory. … Results Trophy Cup Night Two Thunderbowl Raceway 360 Sprint Cars 60 Entries A Feature 30 Laps | 00:21:12.471 1. 6-Cody Gardner[4]; 2. 7C-Colby Copeland[1]; 3. 29-Bud Kaeding[2]; 4. 19-Joel Myers Jr[3]; 5. 73-Ryan Bernal[8]; 6. 94TH-Anthony Macri[15]; 7. 42X-Justyn Cox[17]; 8. 0-Tim Kaeding[12]; 9. 21L-Landon Brooks[11]; 10. 121-Caeden Steele[6]; 11. - Chris Ferguson Earns Victory Fuel Pole for DTWC at Eldora
ROSSBURG, OH (October 17, 2025) - It was preliminary night on Friday for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presented by FloRacing, as 59 cars competed in six heat races to qualify for the 45th Annual Dirt Track World Championship presented by ARP, which will pay $100,000 to win on Saturday night at Eldora Speedway. In heat number one, it was a fierce battle within the Ferguson Family until the very end as Chris Ferguson overtook his cousin Carson just before the checkered flag to secure the victory, earning him the Victory Fuel Pole for the 100-lap main event Saturday night. Carson had led from the start of the 10-lap race, but Chris gained enough momentum on the final lap to pass him on the inside coming off of turn four. Trailing the Fergusons at the finish line was defending DTWC winner Bobby Pierce, who secured the third and final transfer spot. The second heat was won by current championship points leader Devin Moran, who led from start to finish to secure the third starting spot in the DTWC. Nick Hoffman, coming off two third place finishes in the Dream and World 100 at Eldora this year, finished second to Moran, with Clay Harris claiming the third and final transfer position. In heat number three, Brandon Sheppard dominated by leading all 10 laps and taking the win. Sheppard now aims to become the first six-time winner of the Crown Jewel race on Saturday night, starting from the fifth position. Hudson O'Neal finished second, followed by Daulton Wilson, who secured the third and final transfer spot. In pivotal heat number four, where the winner would start alongside Chris Fergerson on the front row Saturday night, Chris Madden dominated the race, winning by more than six seconds over Ricky Thornton Jr. and Brandon Overton. The fifth heat was all Garrett Alberson, the New Mexico native, who led all 10 laps to secure the victory and earn the fourth starting spot in the DTWC. Dennis Erb Jr., a former Dirt Late Model Dream winner at Eldora, charged from the eighth starting position to finish as the runner-up. Jason Jameson claimed the third and final transfer spot. The sixth and final heat of the night was won by veteran Dale McDowell, who led from start to finish, beating Jonathan Davenport and Joseph Joiner. - After Two Straight Lightning Podiums, Busy Open-Wheel Racer Jeff Dyer Returns to USAC/CRA Action Saturday
Yucca Valley, CA — October 15, 2025 — Never let anyone say Jeff Dyer isn't dedicated to open-wheel racing. The California Highway Patrol Officer is always eager to climb into one of his race cars, and over the past two weekends, his commitment has paid off with back-to-back podium finishes in his lightning sprint. This Saturday, he'll strap into his powerful USAC/CRA 410 sprint car for a return to the famed Perris Auto Speedway. Two weeks ago, Dyer, who lives in Yucca Valley, California and his teenage teammate, Drake Cardey of Riverside, took on the California Lightning Sprint Car Series at Ventura Raceway — the 1/5-mile clay oval just a nine-iron shot from the waves of the Pacific Ocean. Cardey, who currently sits second in CLS points and leads the Rookie of the Year chase, scorched the track with a 12.376-second lap in qualifying to earn his first Diablo Fabrication Fast Time Award. Dyer was right behind him with a 12.394, good for second quick on the night. Cardey followed that up with a runner-up finish in his heat race, while Dyer placed fourth in his. In the main event, Dyer, who is fourth in CLS points, charged from sixth on the grid to grab a third-place finish — his eighth podium of the 2025 season. Cardey started and finished fifth. That gave him his third straight fifth place finish and his eighth top five of the year. Last weekend, Dyer made a late decision to head south to Barona Speedway for a SoCal Lightning Sprint event — an easy choice considering his previous results there this season: two wins and a fourth. After battling for the lead over the final laps, he crossed the line third, giving him an impressive 2.25 average finish in four Barona starts this year. While Dyer was racing near the Mexican border, Cardey was 400 miles north at Merced Speedway, competing in the Tom and Christi Dunkel Inland Rigging #17A with the USAC Western Midgets. In only his second midget start, the high schooler looked like a veteran — qualifying seventh in the 18-car field, finishing third in his heat, and running in the top ten before contact with another car on lap six ended his night with a 15th-place result. Fans can see Dyer back in USAC/CRA action this Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway. Tickets are $35 for ages 13 and up, $10 for kids 6-12, and free for children 5 and under. Gates open at 5:00 p.m., with racing at 7:00. Parking on the fairgrounds is $20 (card only for parking). Advance tickets are available at tix.com, and plenty of walk-up tickets will also be sold at the gate. Perris Auto Speedway is located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds, 18700 Lake Perris Drive, Perris, California. On-site camping is available for $25 per night beginning at noon on Fridays. Cardey's California Lightning Sprint Car is sponsored by Eibach Springs, Cardey Construction, Inland Rigging, Jake Swanson Shock Technology, Last Lap Insider, and Dylan Godeniz Motorsports. In 2025, the following marketing partners will help keep Dyer on track. Straight Time Stirrups, Haircuts By Susie, Jobu Racing, Justice Brothers, Fonseca Racing, Specialty Fasteners, and Blud Racing Lubricants. If you would like to be a part of Dyer Motorsports in 2024, call (760) 550-7237 or send an email to mailto:dyermotorsports4@gmail.com. Jeff is racing in memory of his grandparents, Glenn, and Beverly Sels, throughout the 2025 season.
