- Can Williams Grove Get Eighth Different Sprint Winner In A Row? Racing Returns May 29 With Joey Allen Tribute
Mechanicsburg - So far this season at Williams Grove Speedway seven races for the Lawrence Chevrolet 410 sprint cars have produced seven different winners since action began on March 22. Winners to date have been Lance Dewease, Steven Snyder Jr., Justin Peck, Troy Wagaman Jr., Kasey Kahne, David Gravel and most recently Logan Rumsey on May 15. It was 2021 when the track last experienced such a run of early season competition and in fact five years ago the oval went eight for eight before Lance Dewease was able to double up. Back then checkered flags fell to Freddie Rahmer, Justin Peck, Kyle Larson, Lucas Wolfe, Carson Macedo, Aaron Reutzel, Dewease and Justin Whittall. Fans will need to wait two weeks to see if the eight for eight record can be tied as there is no sprint car racing at the track on May 22. The oval will return to action on May 29 with the Thrivent-Fusion Financial Group Joey Allen Tribute for the 410 sprint cars paying $8,000 to win as part of the 2026 Hoosier Diamond Series. The PASS/IMCA 305 sprints are also on the racing card along with fireworks. Special pre-race interviews with Joey Allen and notable personalities from his career will take place in the infield on May 29 beginning just after gates open at 5:30. Should an eighth different winner speed to victory lane at Williams Grove in two weeks, records show the longest previous string of consecutive different winners prior to 2021 took place in 2011. A whopping 11 races were contested to start that season before a repeat winner was achieved, again in the person of Dewease. Winners in that run were Stevie Smith, Brian Leppo, Steve Buckwalter, Fred Rahmer, Daryn Pittman, Ryan Bohlke, Cory Haas, Dewease, Gerard McIntyre Jr., Doug Esh and Alan Krimes. Keep up to date on all the latest speedway news and information by visiting the oval's official website located at www.williamsgrove.com and by following the track on X, Facebook, TikTok and Instagram. - Myers, Wagner, White win as Rod End Supply "Road to the Hockett" begins at Lucas Oil Speedway
WHEATLAND, MO. (May 16, 2026) - West coast native Joel Myers Jr., continued a successful trek through mid-America with a dominant win as the Rod End Supply "Road to the Hockett" kicked off Saturday night at Lucas Oil Speedway. The 20-year-old Myers started on the pole and led all the way to capture the POWRi Winged 410 Sprint feature win, worth $5,000, and getting a leg up in the four-race series that leads to an open-wheel crown jewel in September. Other winners in the opener of the "Road to the Hockett" series were Jack Wagner (POWRi WAR Sprints) and Peyton White (POWRi/IMCA WOW 305 Sprints). The series points champ after the four races in the POWRi 410 Winged Springs and POWRi WAR will receive an automatic bid into this fall's 16th annual Jesse Hockett-Daniel McMillin Memorial, Sept. 17-19. Other rounds on the Rod End Supply Road to the Hockett: Round 2 on June 27, Round 3 on Aug. 1 and Championship Night on Aug. 22. Myers drives to POWRi 410 Sprints win: Joel Myers Jr. of Santa Rosa, Calif., led all 25 laps to outduel 10th-starting Landon Crawley for the POWRi 410 Sprint feature. Myers also won at 36 Speedway in the division on Friday night. Myers led Marcus Thomas as the front-row starters set the early pace with Miles Paulus going from sixth to third, before a red flag brought action to a half as Jack Potter rolled his car onto its side in turn one. The restart saw Paulus continue his charge as he drove into second with Thomas fading quickly to 10th. Meanwhile, Myers was pulling away, opening a 2.2-second lead over Paulus by lap nine. Paulus cut into the lead as Myers battled lapped traffic, pulling within 1.3 seconds by lap 15. One lap later, Landon Crawley completed a slider to get around Paulus for second, but that allowed Myers to extend his lead to two seconds with just six to go. Myers continued to sail from there, beating Crawley by 2.9 seconds at the finish. "This is a testament to the (crew) guys busting their butts," Myers said in victory lane. "I had a driver error on Tuesday (at Fremont Speedway) and it destroyed a race car. They kept their heads high and build a whole new race car. This weekend was really good." Myers said hitting his marks consistently in lapped traffic kept him in good shape over the final half of the race. "They really hit it on the race track tonight," Myers said. "It had a bottom, a middle and a top. I'm glad they decided not to re-work it. A big goal this weekend was to work on decision making in lapped traffic because that's what wins races." Xavier Doney rallied from eighth to third with Paulus settling for fourth and Nixa's Kyle Bellm was fifth. Jack Wagner previews in POWRi WAR Sprints: Fourth-starting Jack Wagner of Lone Jack took the lead with six laps remaining and held off Nixa's Wesley Smith to capture the POWRi WAR Sprint feature victory. "They really had my number there until about halfway to go," an excited Wagner said in victory lane. "I'm so excited, I can't see straight. I am a non-wing winner at Lucas Oil Speedway." Third-starting Wyatt Burks made an inside pass on Smith out of turn four to take the lead on lap three, seconds before a caution flew for a spin by Jesse Bebee. Just one lap was completed before Bebee spun again to bring out caution No. 2. Once the field starting stacking green-flag laps, Burks was able to open a half-second lead by lap 10, but Smith moved to the high groove and cut the lead to a car length when caution came out again on lap 12 when fourth-running Samuel Wagner rolled to a stop trying to exit the track. Burks continued to maintain the lead after the restart as Jack Wagner moved past Smith for second on lap 13. Caution No. 4 flew two laps later when Brett Combs' car dropped fluid in turn four. Wagner grabbed the lead on lap 19 coming off turn four. He rolled from there, expanding his margins to more than a second by lap 22 and taking the checkers over Smith by 2.7 seconds with Burks third and Chase Howard fourth. "Jack's been working his tail off to get to victory lane at Lucas Oil Speedway and hats off to him," Smith said. "Everybody did a great job here tonight, Jack was just better than us." White takes POWRi/IMCA WOW 305 victory: Peyton White, a 15-year-old from LaMonte, Mo., lost the lead to Laney Moore briefly before rallying to regain the top spot and held off Moore for the 305 Winged Sprint victory. Peyton White set the early pace over Laney Moore with Monty Ferriera third as action settled into a rhythm after two early stoppages. White had nearly a one-second lead at the mid point on lap 10 as he started to encounter lapped traffic. That allowed Moore to close in within a couple of car lengths. Moore took over the lead on lap 15, but White grabbed it back the next time around. The two battled it out, side-by-side at times the rest of the way and White was able to prevail by .629 seconds. Ferriera was third with Mike Trent fourth and Randy Martin finishing fifth. - Ryan Graver bags $2000 win in Crate Classic at Big Diamond Speedway…Kevin Beach Jr. grabs 358 Modified victory…Jarod Bassinisky tops in Roadrunners
(Minersville, PA 5-15-26) If you're going to get a first win may as well make it a good one and for Lehighton's Ryan Graver that's just what he did in nailing down his first Big Diamond Speedway victory in the Crate Classic on Red White and Blue Autos Inc. Night. Graver rocketed to a $2000 win in the 30-lap main for the USS Achey Inc. 602 Crate Sportsman division which took center stage Friday evening. With a season high of 41 cars signed in none demonstrated better speed than Graver who turned the fasted laps throughout the night. That quickness helped him win his heat and he then carried that momentum into a big feature win. "I just can't thank Monte (Pool/car owner) enough for letting me run this car and it's just been on rails, and it seems that we haven't had that little bit at the end and tonight we did," said Graver. A "Revenge Draw" saw Christopher Buffalino and Shawn Light share the front row while Graver began from eighth. Buffalino would take control once the action commenced with Light following in second. Graver wasted little time in his advancement, moving to third by lap six. The race's first 16 laps went without a hitch as Buffalino set a steady pace in leading the way. A trio of cautions, however, on that circuit set-up for Graver's good fortune most notably the third yellow when Light had stopped and handed over the runner-up spot to Graver. It would be on that restart that Graver's race winning move would take place when he out-hustled his No. 21P past Buffalino and grabbed the reign as the new leader. At the same time Joe Toth motored into second. From that point on, Toth did everything he could to stay with Graver, especially on several restarts when the two ran side by side. But there was no denying the fast-handed Graver who was able to shake free of the Toth after only a few laps. "Early on we had such a good run off the initial start and were up to fourth in just a couple of laps. From there I was just trying to watch everyone in front of me and figure out where to go then that caution helped me out and got me to third," relayed Graver. "Joe (Toth) then got to my inside door, but he raced me so clean and racing tight like that with someone you on so well, it's so much fun." For a while Mike Toth was running close with the leaders but dropped out with five laps to go. Steady running Steven Kemery would then secure third spot after some very close racing with Kevin Smith. Bryce Bashore rounded out the top five, coming from 22nd. For Graver, he had a car in contention all season, and on this night everything came together for his long-awaited victory. "As the track progressed it felt really good and as the race went on to me it felt like it was better on the top although all the way around it was a very good race track, you could move were you had to and work every lane and that's just what you want in a track," added Graver "My first few years running Crates here we were so close so many times and to come back here this year and right off the bat we came out swinging at every single race then to come off the last race when we broke our power steering and we felt we could have won that race, then to come here tonight and win makes up for everything." In the BQ Concrete 358 Modifieds Kevin Beach Jr., of Minersville made a big turnround to some early season woes in capturing the win in the 25-lapper. Beach's results to date were not indicative of what he knew he and his team was capable of, with only a pair of sixth place runs as his best showing. And even before the feature there was some uncertainty as the car was not firing right following his heat, but he and the crew kept working, and from his outside front-row starting spot he turned that opportunity into a hard-fought victory. "In the heat race it missed terribly, and we changed the carburetor after that. We struggled a lot this year and I have a lot of good guys who help me out and it's been a valiant effort to get this car to turn and handle and not bounce around and it worked great tonight," said Beach. The record will show that Beach led every lap but make no mistake he was immersed in constant pressure throughout the race. At first an impressive Jax Yohn kept Beach on his toes. Yohn stayed on the leader through the first 10 laps before Tim Buckwalter along with Louden Reimert moved in behind Beach. Buckwalter stayed glued to Beach's rear bumper, repeatedly searching for a way past, but Beach answered every challenge and never gave up the lead. The determined Buckwalter made it very thrilling on the final lap when he tried to get underneath Beach as they sprinted to the finish line but came up just short with Reimert tailing closely in their tire tracks. "I almost gave it away a couple times on the cushion, but I wasn't getting off of there, you were going to have to go underneath me and try the slick, I wasn't about to move down," said Beach. "Tim (Buckwalter) has been really fast here, and Louden (Reimert) is fast everywhere he goes and I couldn't imagine there was a much better line, and Tim is very good on the bottom so I just kept running it in as hard as I could and bouncing around and just let it ease." Yohn held on for a career best fourth with the Modified while the previous week's winner Duane Howard rounded out the top five. In the Red White and Blue Autos Inc. Roadrunners Jarod Bassininsky of Schuylkill Haven snagged the lead from CJ Ferguson with seven laps to go and then held off Joey Brennan in scoring his first win of the season. Brian Johnson held down the front spot from the outset before Ferguson took command on a lap six restart. Bassininsky had worked his tail off under some very tight racing in getting to second by mid-race and once there he then set his sights on Ferguson. After taking the lead, he still had to hold off Brennan, and he did just that to earn a well-deserved victory. 358 Modified finish (25 laps): 1. Kevin Beach Jr., 2. Tim Buckwalter, 3. - Barnes, Mead, Welborn and Santana surge to entertaining Watsonville wins on First Responders Night
Watsonville, CA…Visalia's Jett Barnes has been exceptional during his Watsonville Speedway starts this year and raced to his second triumph in four appearances last night with the Gold Star GMC 360 Sprint Cars. Fellow winners on First Responders Night included Lilly Mead with the R&J Landscaping Hobby Stocks, Jonathan Welborn with the Heat Wave Visual Four Bangers and Mike Santana with Police N Pursuit. Clovis driver Dominic Gorden took command at the waving of the green flag in the 25-lap Gold Star GMC 360 Sprint Car feature. Young Cole Croft kept him honest over the early stages, not letting the former Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial winner get too far ahead. Jett Barnes, who had earned the Keith Day Company Fast Time Award earlier, settled into fourth after a handful laps, but then started to find his groove. The 14-year-old began to run the bottom of turn two and got immense runs as he carved his way forward. Barnes sliced into third on lap nine and then second just a few circuits later. He then erased a two second lead that Gorden possessed and pounced for the top spot on lap 18. A green-white-checkered restart was seen but nothing could slow Barnes who drove off to claim the Ed Entz checkered flag. In his four starts at Watsonville Speedway this year Barnes has set fast time at each event and has tallied two wins, along with a pair of third place efforts. He is expected to make his 410 Sprint Car debut at the track on May 29th with the NARC King of the West Series. Gorden crossed the stripe in second while Croft made the move by Dominic Scelzi to bring home third on the final restart. Croft even challenged Gorden for second on the final lap, as he recorded his first career Sprint Car podium. Scelzi and Caleb Debem completed the top five. The R&J Landscaping Hobby Stocks put on an exciting 20-lap finale that saw veteran Sam Kennedy lead early. Track conditions were spot on for the Hustling Hobby Stocks with side-by-side racing prevalent throughout the field. Nick Silva then fought his way to the top spot on lap six as the front runners raced closely together. A caution on lap 11 set up a double file restart with Silva and Lilly Mead on the front row. Racing back to the green things got a little too close for comfort and resulted in Silva suffering a flat tire, forcing him to pit. With Mead now up front she had to contend with the relentless pressure from Joe Gallaher. The duo was fun to watch over the closing laps. Mead fended off Gallaher to earn her second victory of the season. They were followed by Dakota Keldsen, Kennedy and Adriane Frost. The Heat Wave Visual Four Bangers also provided fans with some buzz as three different drivers held command at various points. Rookie Preston Hohmann led the first couple of circuits until Justin Hertel got by to grab the point. All eyes then focused on Jonathan Welborn, who methodically weaved his way by cars and charged into the lead on lap nine. Hertel didn't let him get away though and stayed glued to his bumper. Welborn hit his marks however, and scored the win over Hertel, Tony Gullo, David Dupuis and Shelbie Freeman. The Police N Pursuit feature then saw Welborn known as "Jonathan Outlaw" lead seven laps until the officers were able to catch him. After that it was all Mike Santana who held off a very fast AJ Waltrip to claim the win. Watsonville Speedway goes dark during Memorial Day weekend, before resuming action with Class of 2026 - Senior Night on Friday May 29th. On hand will be the NARC King of the West 410 Sprint Cars, the R&J Landscaping Hobby Stocks and Western Midget Racing. - Rumsey Outruns Dietz To Williams Grove 410 Sprint Win, Cody Fletcher Nabs 358s
Mechanicsburg - Logan Rumsey of Manchester outran Chase Dietz to score the first 410 sprint checkered flag of his career at Williams Grove Speedway on Friday night. The $5,500 victory made Rumsey the seventh winner in as many races at the oval so far this season. In the 358 sprint main it was Cody Fletcher of East Berlin getting his first win of the year at the track and the second of his career overall there at well. Rumsey earned the outside pole for the 25-lap 410 sprint main by winning the second heat race. Chad Trout led the field into the first turn when action began but Rumsey bit fast to the bottom groove as the pair raced through the second turn to take control onto the backstretch. Only the first lap was completed when the red flag unfurled for a hard TJ Stutts crash in the third turn. JJ Loss had looped his car on the cushion while running fifth and after several cars made it by his stopped mount Stutts slammed into it before flipping. Justin Whittall was also involved. Rumsey had built up a lead of more than four seconds over the field by the time he entered the backmarkers on the ninth tour while at the same time the cars of Preston Lattomus and Brock Zearfoss battled hard for third behind Trout. Meanwhile, eighth starter Chase Dietz was finding speed and by lap 11 he was up to fourth behind Zearfoss. And by lap 13 Dietz had disposed of Zearfoss for second as both drivers shuffled Trout backwards. At that point Rumsey had a 5.7 second advantage built over Dietz and the York driver went to work methodically erasing the leader's margin. From laps 14 through 19 Dietz handily chopped off anywhere from five to seventh-tenths of a second per lap off of Rumsey's controlling margin. And with five laps to go Dietz was still biting into the lead. Dietz ran his surge right down to the wire in a quest for his first win of the season at the track and with two laps to go he was less than a second behind Rumsey. And although a last lap pass for the win seemed inevitable, Dietz hopped the cushion in the first turn on the final circuit and would run out of time with Rumsey getting the win by .324 seconds. Zearfoss was third followed by Freddie Rahmer and Troy Wagaman Jr. Sixth through 10th went to Camerson Smith, Danny Dietrich, Chad Trout, Dylan Norris and Lance Dewease. Heats went to Trout, Rumsey and Jude Siegel with Brent Shearer taking the consolation race. Justin Foster led the first 14 laps of the 20-lap 358 sprint main before eighth starter Cody Fletcher raced into the lead. Fletcher raced hard to get the win, battling with Foster for several laps before making good on a lap 13 restart to set up Foster for a pass deep in the third turn on the 15th tour. It was Fletcher's sixth overall win of the season, coming by 2.143 seconds over Adam Carberry. Foster faded to third. Austin Reed was fourth followed by Matt Findley. Sixth through 10th went to Derek Locke, Cole Young, Chase Gutshall, Hunter Fulton and Steve Owings. Heats went to Foster, Chance Hendershot and Carberry. - Tafoya Set for Return at Central Arizona Following Hand Surgery
Chino Hills, CA — May 14, 2026 — Three weeks after undergoing hand surgery, Eddie Tafoya Jr. is set to return to action this Friday and Saturday, May 15 and 16, when the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series invades Central Arizona Raceway. The pair of races on the fast 3/8-mile clay oval will mark the first of three races in a nine-day stretch for the Chino Hills, California standout. Located approximately 50 miles south of Phoenix, Central Arizona Speedway has quickly become a favorite stop for racers and fans alike. The modern dirt track is known for its wide racing surface, multiple grooves, and intense wheel-to-wheel competition that often produces some of the most exciting racing on the USAC/CRA schedule. Three days after competing at Central Arizona on April 21st, Tafoya underwent surgery to repair an injury he suffered at Perris Auto Speedway last August. The operation was successful, but it forced the popular driver to miss the May 2nd USAC/CRA race at Ventura Raceway. Now fully healed and eager to get back behind the wheel, Tafoya is ready to resume his strong 2026 campaign. In his last appearance at the Arizona oval, Tafoya qualified seventh fastest in a competitive 19-car field. After finishing third in his heat race, he rolled off from the seventh starting spot in the 30-lap main event. Early in the race, the 28-year-old battled fiercely to maintain a spot in the top 10. As the laps wound down, however, he became one of the fastest cars on the track. Charging through the field in the closing stages, Tafoya stormed all the way to fourth before ultimately finishing fifth at the checkered flag. Through his first five starts of the 2026 season, he has yet to finish worse than sixth and has already recorded three top-five finishes. His best result came in the USAC/CRA season opener at Mohave Valley Raceway on February 28th, where he scored an impressive third-place finish. Following this weekend's action in the "Copper State," Tafoya will return home to Perris Auto Speedway for one of the longest-running sprint car races in the world, the historic Salute to Indy on May 23rd. The prestigious event, which dates back to 1948, has long been one of the crown jewels of sprint car racing in the world. Gates for this weekend's races, which will close out the first half of the season at the Central Arizona Raceway, will open at 5:00 p.m. each night with racing at 7:00 p.m. Adult tickets are $20.00. Seniors and active military get in for $18.00. Young adults 11-17 are $10.00, and children 10 and under are free. The track is located at 512 S 11 Mile Corner Road in Casa Grande, Arizona. The track's website is https://www.centralazraceway.com/ and the office phone is 520-754-0407. For fans who can not make it, both nights will be streamed live on Flo Racing.
