FREMONT, Ohio - Cale Thomas held off a late race challenge to score his second straight 410 sprint car win in as many weeks, opening the 75th Anniversary season of Fremont Speedway Fueled by FriendShip Kitchen Saturday, April 25 with the victory. Thomas, from Fairland, Indiana, who won the previous week at Attica Raceway Park, had to hold off challenges from Gage Garcia, who led the first 13 laps, and Darin Naida for his fourth career Fremont victory on Level Performance/Gressman Powersports/Fort Ball Pizza Palace Night. Behind Thomas at the checkers were Naida, Bryce Lucius, Garcia and Cap Henry. Cap Henry's fifth place run in the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints feature will pad his point lead as he looks to repeat as the champion of the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by Baumann Auto Group. "I was really good on the long green. At the end I was getting tippy on a very technical track. Gage did a good job I just have more laps here than him. I knew what the pace needed to be. I think this is my first time in a sprint car going back to back with wins. In a micro I did it a lot…this is a very humbling sport. We are getting the right pieces around me and it showed tonight," said Thomas beside his Rudzik Excavating, AL Drivelines, Centerline Boring, Smith Titanium backed #49X. Steve Rando of Lindsey, Ohio looked to be headed to his second Fremont Federal Credit Union feature in as many weeks, leading laps 1-24. But, a red flag on the last lap necessitated a green, white, checkered finish and on the last corner of the last lap Bryan Sebetto got a good run and nipped Rando at the flag stand by .008 seconds for his 29th career Fremont win. Rando, Paul Weaver, Jamie Miller and John Ivy rounded out the top five. "I kept missing the bottom and hitting it wrong. We had a really good car all night. Tony Myers came on as the crew chief this year with Josh Wagner. I can't thank Bobby Clark enough for giving me this opportunity. Was really late in the game when we decided to do this but I'm having a blast. Bobby has given us one of the best race cars in the pits," said Sebetto beside his Coastal Cabinet and Flooring, Fremont Fence, Shelluke's Bar, Level Performance, Level Utilities, Nagy Equipment Sales, Dockside Barbershop, Riehl Custom Fabrication, Cutting Edge, Schade, BSE, Overwatch Precision, BRS, Race Ready, Recker Team Howard Hanna Real Estate backed #8. With his second place finish Rando pads his points lead in the Real Geese Decoys/Real Capz Attica Fremont Championship Series standings. The Burmeister Trophy Dirt Truck feature saw Dustin Keegan lead the opening six laps before Kent Brewer took over. At the half way mark sixth starter Keith Sorg, a three time Fremont track champion, bolted into the lead and then had to hold off several challenges from five time track champion Shawn Valenti to score his 10th career Fremont win. Valenti, Jamie Miller, Brewer and Scott Milligan rounded out the top five. "This truck was really good. We're building another new one that will hopefully be faster than this one," said Sorg beside his Fremont Fence, M&L Excavating, Westend Tire, Great Lakes Garage Door backed #4s. - Steering Buddy Partners with Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series
BATAVIA, Ohio (April 25, 2026) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presented by FloRacing is excited to announce a new partnership with Steering Buddy, based in Anniston, Alabama. Mike Pearl, founder of the Steering Buddy system, has agreed to sponsor the Dark Horse Winner category for the remainder of the 2026 season. The Dark Horse category will recognize any driver who has never won a full-points Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series feature event and goes on to capture their first Series victory in 2026. Eligible winners will receive an additional $1,000 bonus, courtesy of Steering Buddy. Pearl, who was eager to partner with the Series, saw this initiative as a meaningful way to give back to racers while also promoting his product. Steering Buddy was designed and developed several years ago by Mike Pearl and his son, Grant Pearl, an experienced dirt racing crew member. Maneuvering a race car in and out of a hauler, around the pits, and through technical inspection can be difficult - especially for a single person. To solve this problem, the Pearls created the original Steering Buddy device, which is now widely used across the country to help steer race cars safely and efficiently in pit areas. After four years of development, testing, and refinement - followed by three years of proven success in the field - the Steering Buddy is well-established in the racing industry. To learn more or to order, visit SteeringBuddy.com. "We are incredibly grateful to welcome another partner to the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series—especially one that supports a program giving back to racers," said Wayne Castleberry, Corporate Sales for FloRacing. "We look forward to working with Mike and the entire Steering Buddy team and hope to see a Dark Horse driver in Victory Lane at some point in 2026." - Rick Laubach goes back-to-back in thrilling 358 Modified action at Big Diamond Speedway
(Minersville, PA 4-24-26) Any concerns regarding track conditions at Big Diamond Speedway and the limited opportunities for passing during the initial two weeks were completely alleviated in the most recent events. The last two shows, particularly Friday's Tony's Meat Market Night, showcased all four feature races delivering exciting, high-quality action with finishes that kept fans on the edge of their seats, right down to the wire. Of those thrilling outcomes, "The Quaker Shaker" Rick Laubach of Quakertown, authored a magnificent performance in capturing his second straight win in the headline BQ Concrete 358 Modifieds. 12th starting Laubach came on like gangbusters over the final few laps and was engaged in a sizzling battle with front runners Duane Howard and Logan Watt. With four laps to go Watt had taken the lead from Howard and at the same time Laubach advanced to second. He then zeroed in on Watt and the next time by, hurdled to the front and held on for the exhilarating victory. "Jake (Smulley) once again gave us a great track and you could run multiple lines tonight," said Laubach. "I started 12th and I got knocked back to like 16th or 17th but I just ran calm and then once I got towards the front and everyone singled out and they moved somewhere I moved to the other place and that's all you could ask for in racing." Outside front-row starter Howard took quick command of the feature while Cody Manmiller and Watt battled for second. By lap three Watt had advanced past Manmiller and then stayed in close behind Howard. Even though Watt was persistent in trying to get to the front, Howard remained strong in holding down his post. Coming into the wanning laps though, things began to intensify. Watt had upped the pressure and began swooping down on Howard while the fast-approaching Laubach suddenly came into the picture by way of his zipping quite rapidly around others. Despite Watt's relentless efforts to advance, Howard continued to defend his position at the front, showing remarkable resilience. As the race entered its final laps, the intensity increased dramatically. Watt ramped up his challenge, closing in on Howard and applying greater pressure. Meanwhile, Laubach, who had been steadily advancing through the field, suddenly emerged as a major contender, swiftly overtaking competitors and joining the fray for the lead. Watt's insistency finally paid off when he was able to thrust by Howard at the start of lap 22. However, his stay at the front was short-lived as Laubach continued with his burst of forward drive, slipping by Howard and then charging right past Watt for the lead which he clung to the finish. Fourth place finisher Louden Reimert was also a swift-moving car, having come from the back following a lap-two caution but blasted his way to solid finish. Tim Buckwalter rounded out the top five. It was the 30th career win for Laubach at Big Diamond and the fourth time he had notched back-to-back verdicts. "What more can you ask for, Big Diamond is back," and elated Laubach said in Victory Lane. "We didn't do a damn thing to this car from last week, didn't even scale it. You don't have to work on your car much when there's a track to race at, you just have to drive it if you're comfortable with it." In the USS Achey Inc. 602 Crate Sportsman main, Kevin Smith of Lehighton used a lap-15 restart to get by race-long leader Ryan Conrad and score his first win of the season. From the early going Conrad was working feverously to maintain his lead as he was having to withstand the onslaught of teammates Smith and Nate Brinker. And despite the duel who were coming at him from both sides, Conrad never wavered. His fate, though, would be sealed when point leader Ryan Graver spun and brought out a caution with five tours remaining. Smith was lined up to Conrad's outside and as the action resumed he simply outgunned past and took over the lead. Although Conrad tried his best to recapture what was his, Smith prevailed while Brinker finished a close third. The Red White and Blue Autos Inc. Roadrunner feature was flat out close racing from start to finish. And the record will show that Minersville's Joey Brennan would take the lead on lap seven and hold it to the finish but there was plenty more to this story. As the race unfolded Brennan was submersed under the most intense pressure from the likes of Jarad Bassinisky, Alex Schoffstall and Mike Reichert as all four cars continually ran under a blanket. And while Brennan held the lead the other trio traded spots back and forth and appeared at any given time could snag the top spot. But Brennan refused to back down as he remained firmly footed in his quest to reach the checkers first. The final lap would be the most adrenaline-charged of them all. With Schoffstall now second he was able to pull even with Brennan, and they would then run neck-and-neck to the finish. By the narrowest of margins, .021-seconds, Brennan eked out the victory. It would also mark the end of an eight year dry spell, having last won a feature in 2018. The Infinite Solutions Group Keystone Sport Compact Series made their first appearance of the season and did not disappoint either with a solid 20 car field and an action-pack feature race that would see Jeff Foster of Aspers battle against Larry Eck en route to scoring the popular win. Eck was leading the event from lap eight and with six laps to go would have Foster breathing down his back. Foster kept glued to the tail of Eck and then using lapped traffic to his advantage he was able to set up and slip by for the top spot with just two laps remaining and score the victory. 358 Modified finish (25 laps): 1. - Max Mittry nets initial Sprint Car win Friday night at Watsonville Speedway
Watsonville, CA…After trying for several years and being close on numerous occasions, Redding's Max Mittry withstood the relentless challenges of Dominic Gorden to claim his first ever Sprint Car triumph on Friday at Watsonville Speedway. Sharing victory lane on Little League Night were Adriane Frost with the R&J Landscaping Hobby Stocks, Danny Wagner with the SSSP South Bay Dwarf Cars and Ben Standen with Police N Pursuit. The Gold Star GMC 360 Sprint Car feature turned out to be an entertaining affair on a well-prepared racing surface. Mittry climbed out front at the green flag but had Gorden keeping him honest every step of the way. Campbell's Bud Kaeding then went to work on Gorden for the runner up spot, as the duo exchanged positions on lap six. Gorden was able to get back by though and continue his pursuit of the leader. Templeton's Kaleb Montgomery then found the bottom side to his liking and picked off cars one by one. When the 25-lap contest wound down it was Mittry, Gorden and Montgomery who closed up with things nearing a conclusion. Gorden hounded Mittry and gave him everything he could handle over the waning stages. With the white flag in the air, Mittry had a slight bobble on the cushion in turn two, which looked to give Gorden a chance. The Clovis driver charged to his inside as the crowd came to its feet. The final corners, however, saw Gorden get sideways and spin in turn four, as Mittry flashed under the Ed Entz checkered flag for victory. Mittry was emotional on the front stretch after finally sealing the deal when it comes to Winged Sprint Car racing. Following him across the line were Montgomery, Kaeding, Landon Henry and Jake Andreotti in the top five. Local favorite Adriane Frost raced to her first R&J Landscaping Hobby Stock triumph of the season on Friday night. Frost had a large cheering section in the Watsonville grandstands and claimed the win ahead of Dakota Keldsen, Matt Ehler, Sam Kennedy and final starter Lilly Mead, who carved her way through the field in exciting fashion. Captain Chaos Danny Wagner dominated the SSSP South Bar Dwarf Car finale to bring home the win over Ricardo Rivera, Jason Lazzerini, David Hays and Eric Weisler. It was an emotional night for the Dwarf Cars as they paid tribute to long time Watsonville Speedway friend and racer Mark Biscardi, who passed away recently. The Police N Pursuit feature saw the Outlaw Kenny Stragalinos outrun the officers to cross the stripe in first. As a reward he was able to arrest an officer on the front stretch! Ben Standen was the PnP regular to take the checkered flag. - Moran Goes Back-to-Back in Melvin L. Joseph Memorial at Georgetown
GEORGETOWN, DE (April 24, 2026) - Devin Moran captured the Melvin L. Joseph Memorial for the second consecutive year Friday night at Georgetown Speedway, taking home the $21,049 top prize in the feature event honoring the track's founder. The defending Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion started fifth and charged to the lead on lap seven, passing Hudson O'Neal before pacing the remainder of the 49-lap event for his fifth Series win of the 2026 season. O'Neal finished second, while ninth-starting Max Blair rounded out the Big River Steel podium in third. Brandon Sheppard finished fourth, and Josh Rice impressed in his Georgetown debut, advancing from 16th to complete the top five. O'Neal grabbed the early lead with Ricky Thornton Jr. in pursuit. After leading the first six laps, O'Neal was overtaken by Moran, who made a decisive move to the front on lap seven. Thornton's night came to an abrupt end shortly after when a broken driveshaft forced him to retire to the infield. Following the restart, Moran steadily extended his advantage over O'Neal and Blair. He ultimately crossed the finish line 0.570 seconds ahead of O'Neal, extending his championship points lead to 35 as the Series heads to Hagerstown Speedway on Sunday after Saturday's event at BAPS Motor Speedway was canceled due to weather. Moran's victory marked the 29th of his Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series career, capping off a challenging night filled with adversity. "Today was pretty much what racing is like sometimes—we went from low to high, then back to low again," said the Dresden, Ohio native. "We couldn't hot lap, had to pull out a backup car, set fast time, and even had an oil line come off that caused a fire under the hood. To come back from all that and win is pretty special." "I want to thank Garrett Alberson—he offered us one of his cars if we needed it—and the Rocket 1 team for helping us throughout the night. It was a tough one, but we kept fighting." "I wasn't sure how good the top would be. This is a brand-new car and motor, but we overcame a lot tonight. I was excited to go to BAPS tomorrow, but unfortunately that's canceled. We'll be ready for Hagerstown." O'Neal, who entered the race as the nation's winningest dirt late model driver with 11 victories, came up just short of his fourth Series win of the year. "He showed us a different part of the racetrack," O'Neal said of Moran. "I thought the top would dominate early, but by the time I realized he was making the bottom work, he was already by me. He did a great job, and his car was really good. We just need to be a little better to start the race." Blair's third-place finish moved him up to fourth in the championship standings. "I thought I had a shot—I had just passed Garrett (Alberson), but we didn't get that lap in," Blair said. "I wish we had one more lap so I could've lined up in the second row, but it all worked out. We weren't great in the heat race, but we improved for the feature." Moran's winning Double Down Motorsports, Longhorn Chassis is powered by a Cornett Racing Engine and backed by Big River Steel, Millwood Plumbing, C&W Trucking, Phillips CPA, BOMAG, Haulin' Haskell's, CarSourceAuto.com, Anthony's Pizza, Hazen Services, Northeastern Fabrication, McHugh Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Elliott Farms, and Pee Wee's Wrecker Service. Completing the top ten were Carson Ferguson, Daniel Hilsabeck, Garrett Alberson, Clay Harris, and Dillon McCowan. Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Race Summary The Melvin L. - Brent Sexton Set To Make 360 Wing Debut At Watsonville And Merced This Weekend
Lakeside, CA — April 23, 2026 — Sexton Gatlin Racing will cap off a busy April when Brent Sexton heads north this Friday and Saturday for a pair of winged 360 sprint car races. The first stop is Friday night at Watsonville Speedway, followed by a Saturday showdown in the highly competitive Sprint Car Challenge Tour event at Merced Speedway. The two nights of racing will mark Brent's first appearance in a winged 360 car. Last Saturday, Brent and his youngest son, 21-year-old Grant, made the trek to the Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare for a date with the third-year Ultimate Sprint Car Series. It was Brent's fourth race with the series in 2026 and his second at the Thunderbowl this year. In his previous appearance at the popular Central Valley oval, he turned in an impressive performance. After finishing fifth in his heat race, he started 14th in the A Main and charged forward to a strong seventh-place finish. That effort was even more notable considering officials red-flagged the race early due to time constraints, while both the driver and car had more to give. Unfortunately, things did not go as well for the three-time lightning sprint car champion this time around. A broken shifter cable in qualifying immediately put him behind the eight-ball for the remainder of the night. Unable to start his heat race, he was forced to line up near the back of the field for the main event. Starting 17th, Sexton advanced one position before his night came to an early end. A sticking throttle created a dangerous situation, prompting him to pull into the infield rather than risk taking a chunk out of the crash wall. "The throttle was sticking and I was standing on the brakes trying to keep it under control," he said. "It didn't end well." Grant's night showed early promise. He qualified fourth fastest in Group #1 with a lap of 16.007, which ranked eighth overall among the 19 cars on hand. He then started fourth and finished second in his heat race. In the main event, he rolled off from seventh and battled inside the top 10 for much of the race until contact from another car on lap 17 forced him to retire early. He was credited with a 15th-place finish. This weekend's races will mark the 11th start in April for a Sexton Gatlin Racing driver and car combination. Earlier this month, Sexton Gatlin Racing was scheduled to compete at both Watsonville and Merced with the non-wing USCS. However, both events were canceled due to rain. One year ago, Brent made his Watsonville Speedway debut and immediately turned heads. He opened the weekend by qualifying third fastest in his USCS group with a lap of 13.375, which placed him 10th overall in the 19-car field. He then started fourth in his heat race, led much of the distance, and finished second. Starting seventh in the main event on the Santa Cruz County oval, Sexton quickly found himself in the thick of the action. Working both the high and low lines, he advanced as high as fourth before slipping back to eighth or ninth during the intense battle. Staying composed, he rallied to finish fifth at the checkered flag. "It was so much fun," he said at the time. "I loved the track. I am having the time of my life. To finish fifth the first time ever at the track, that is cool. I am happy." Spectator gates at Watsonville Speedway will open at 4:30 p.m. for Friday's race. The track is located at 2601 East Lake Avenue in Watsonville, California (95076). For more information, visit watsonvillespeedway.com. For Saturday's event, Merced Speedway is located at 900 Martin Luther King Jr. Way in Merced, California (95341). Additional information can be found at mercedspeedway.net.
