- Young fans a big part of Lucas Oil Speedway opening night with Kids' Power Wheel races, Pit Tour
WHEATLAND, MO. (March 20, 2023) - Over the last several seasons, Lucas Oil Speedway General Manager Danny Lorton and track flagman Mike Striegel have made a priority of getting youngsters more involved in the sport in a variety of ways. That will continue in 2023 with the second season of Kids' Power Wheel racing scheduled for intermission of Saturday's season-opening Big Adventure RV Weekly Racing Series program. For ages 3-through-9, the races will be on the front straightaway during intermission, navigating a course outlined by orange cones. "Involving the kids is something that has been extremely popular and we want to continue making even bigger and better," Lorton said. "I think this is another way to spark their interest in the sport and give them a little more fun and an early taste of being involved in the sport in a safe way." The youngsters can enter their own battery-powered Power Wheel cars by signing up for the Frogs Jr. Fan Club on the south end of the Midway prior to the races. Other Kids Power Wheel nights are scheduled for April 29, May 13, June 17, July 29 and Aug. 26 when a mini-season-champion will crowned along with the four regular Weekly Racing Series classes. The youngsters can bring their Power Wheels to the Frogs Jr Fan Club sign-in, or drop them off at the pit gate and the Power Wheels will be brought to the front stretch at intermission. This also will mark Year Four of the Frogs Jr Fan Club Pit Tour. Prior to each dirt-track racing program this season, Striegel will lead a pit tour on a large golf cart for youngsters ages 5-12 with the youngsters signing up for a drawing each week to be a part of the tour. Striegel will drive them through the pits and stop and visit with various drivers where the youngsters can see the race cars up close, take pictures, collect autographs and talk to the drivers. Cedar Creek Beef Jerky is a small U.S.D.A. inspected manufacturing facility based in El Dorado Springs, MO. This unique Jerky treat traditionally takes longer to make than most because it is literally made one piece at a time, by people not machines. And with Cedar Creek you get a true 4 oz. HOT BEEF JERKY: Perfect for those a little more daring. Enough spice to cure your craving for a warm snack. TERIYAKI: A nice sweet snack sprinkled with sesame seed. Sure to please everyone who likes their meat to be sweet. HOT-T-YAKI: Just imagine if hot and teriyaki had a wild and crazy night and 9 months later this beautiful bundle of joy was born. It's sweet enough to make you start to fall in love but then kicks you square in your taste-buds to remind you that it's got a side of spicy that your mom wouldn't approve you to hang out with.
