Never count Cap Henry out when the NAPA Auto Parts All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Valvoline makes a visit to Fremont Speedway. Henry captured night one of the 19th Annual Jim Ford Classic tonight, making this his 15th career All Star win, five of those at Fremont Speedway.
Zeth Sabo set tonight's Capitol Custom Trailers Quick Time, followed by winning the Premier Planning Services heat race one. Zane DeVault won the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads heat race two, while Chris Andrews won the Adaptive One Calipers heat race three.
Cale Thomas led the field to green after winning the Level Utilities Dash. DJ Foos took the early lead and stayed there for the first 14 laps of the feature. The top five- Foos, Thomas, Cap Henry, Craig Mintz and Chris Andrews- battled for positions, and on lap 15, Henry dove under Foos and Thomas in turn four, taking the lead for the next 21 laps. Thomas, Andrews and Sabo continued to vie for second through fourth place behind Henry. With nine laps to go, Sabo picked off Andrews for third place and used the next seven laps to hunt down Thomas, taking second with two laps to go.
"Zach, Chris, Jeff and Gary did a good job. [It was] a fast-paced night and they had to keep up with it. I think we're not quite as good as the 49X yet, but we'll take it," Henry said in Gates Corporation Victory Lane.
