- Cap Henry earns richest win in history of Fremont Speedwa
FREMONT, Ohio - Cap Henry wrote his name in the Fremont Speedway record books Saturday, Sept. 14, winning the 17th Annual Jim Ford Classic on All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Gill Construction Night. Henry's third win of the season at "The Track That Action Built" was worth $20,000. He also added another $10,000 in bonus money by leading all 40-laps. Henry, the track's 2023 Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprint track champion, won his eighth total feature of 2024 and his 21st career win at the track. Winning the Jim Ford Classic adds to his incredible list of accomplishments in 2024 including taking the Ohio Sprint Speedweek title and the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series title. "I knew I had to get a good jump at the start. Kalib (Henry) has been so good here this year. Zack and Chad and Chris and Jeff and Gary have worked their tails off all year and gave me a perfect car tonight. I was able to maneuver in traffic. Gary Griff built this engine for us to run Eldora and Knoxville….it's a damn good engine. We've run second in this race so many times and to finally get a Jim Ford Classic win is very special," said Henry beside his Premier Planning Service, Jeff Ward Demolition, Ohio Logistics, Primal Tee Shop, Elliott's Custom Trailers and Carts, FK Rod Ends, Griff's Engines backed #33W. For Kalib Henry second was a disappointment after having won both features at Fremont the previous evening. "We were really good but Cap was just better tonight. Second sucks….I really wanted that race, but it was a good weekend and we will give it a shot next Saturday to wrap up the track championship. Thanks to Doc and Rebecca and all the guys who make this possible," said Henry. Craig Mintz rallied from a crash the previous evening to finish third with Trey Jacobs and Stuart Brubaker rounding out the top five. Cale Thomas charged from 20th starting position to a sixth place run while Darin Naida, TJ Michael (from 15th), Zane DeVault (from 14th) and Larry Kingseed rounding out the top 10. The Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints competed in two 20-lap features. In the first current Fremont division point leader Jamie Miller took the lead from Seth Schneider on lap six and drove to his fourth win of the season at Fremont over Dustin Stroup, Dustin Dinan, Jimmy McGrath and Logan Riehl. The win is Miller's 10th overall win of 2024 in 305 sprint car competition to go with three dirt truck wins and a non-wing sprint car victory. It was also Miller's 52nd career win at Fremont. "Thank God for that caution (lap 15). Stroupy sailed it in there between me and a lapped car and got in front but the yellow came out. With no traffic to deal with the car was just really good," said Miller beside his Boca Construction, JLH General Contractors, Kenny Kolb Farms, Tuck Pointing America, Queen of Clean, Smitty's Pizza, Roberts & Sons Contracting, Pizza Wheel, Crown Battery, Reedtown Tavern, Fostoria Mod Shop, Sandy's Dad, Gressman Powersports, Phil Rister, Slade Shock Technology backed #26. In the second 305 feature Jimmy McGrath jumped into the early lead with Stroup taking the lead on lap three only to see McGrath drive back by a lap later with Stroup retaking the lead on lap five. Stroup continued to lead with a few cautions keep McGrath close. A caution with five laps to go gave McGrath a chance and he put the wing back and went after Stroup. The pair sliced and diced back and forth with Stroup continually holding the point at the flag stand. Stroup was able to hold off McGrath's challenges to take his third win of the year at Fremont. It was his fifth overall victory of 2024 and his 12 career win at the track. McGrath, Dinan, Riehl and TJ Michael rounded out the top five. "I made the car very wide those last five laps. Jimmy raced me hard and clean. I can't thank Renee and Jamie enough for giving me the opportunity to drive this car and all the sponsors we couldn't do this without them," said Stroup beside his Sulfur Town Pub, BSE Welding, Meru Safety, Velocity Print, The Pizza House, Sunrise Designs, Momma Dukes from Shelluke's Bar and Grill, GCE LLC, Handy Grafix, Mitten Painting, Myers Racing Engines, Rohr Total Lawn Care, Eye Candy Custom Cycles, DJ Johnson & Family, GWH, Advance Auto Parts, BRS, J&J Auto backed #12x. Fremont Speedway will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 21 for season championship night with the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints, Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints and Burmeister Trophy Dirt Trucks in action. - Kalib Henry sweeps opening night of Jim Ford Classic at Fremont
FREMONT, Ohio - Kalib Henry was unstoppable at Fremont Speedway presented by Gill Construction Friday, Sept. 13. The Sacramento, Calif. Driver started the 17th Annual Jim Ford Classic weekend out by winning the June Ohio Sprint Speedweek $10,000 feature that had been halted due to rain with 32 laps remaining. He followed up by claiming the regular Ti-22 Performance FAST On Dirt feature on Kistler Engines Night. In the make-up feature Henry took the lead from Tim Shaffer on lap 25, survived contact with a lapped car with just two laps to go to earn the win over Cale Thomas, Shaffer, Cap Henry and Zeth Sabo. It was his fourth win of the year at "The Track That Action Built." "That's two weeks in a row I had to kind of get aggressive with a lapper. Really did not mean to do that but when you're racing for the win and the lapped cars are there…he was kind of all over the place and I needed to get by him. I knew it was going to be a demanding race track. I just needed to hit my marks and wait for a mistake and get a run. Kevin (Osmolski, crew chief) gave me a bad ass race car. Thank you Doc and Rebecca for everything," said Henry beside his Running Boxer Farms, Harris Distributing Company, Valvoline, Triple J Towing, K1, Berryman Racing Shocks, Chalkstix backed #101. In the night's regular 30-lap feature Henry jumped into the lead at the drop of the green from his outside front row starting spot. He built a sizeable lead until Chris Andrews moved into second on lap five and began closing. Andrews stayed right with Henry and actually drove to his inside on a couple of restarts following cautions. But, Henry was just to smooth and drove to his fifth win of the year at Fremont and the night's sweep. Andrews, Cap Henry, Thomas and Shaffer rounded out the top five. "Hats off to the track crew….they gave us a hell of a track all night. I love these big curbs especially when there's two lanes and you can race hard on it. That was a lot of fun. Last week Cap was on the front row and you can't spot a guy that good that spot. I started on the front row next to him and I just needed to get out front and I knew we had a chance. Kevin has given me such a great race car and I'm excited for tomorrow. This is a race we circled on our calendar heavily all year," said Henry. The Burmeister Trophy Dirt Trucks ran double features. In the first Kent Brewer drove to his first win of the year, the eighth of his career at the track over Shawn Valenti, Steve Miller (from 19th), Keith Sorg and Dave Golembiewski. "This is a brand new truck top to bottom and she's a good one. I have to thank all the friends and family that helped me put this here," said Brewer beside his Injector Experts, Kent's Transmissions, B&S Farms backed #8KB. In the second feature Cody Laird led the first three laps before Valenti took control. Brewer pressured Valenti several laps before experiencing mechanical issues with just two laps to go. Valenti drove to his sixth truck win of the year at Fremont over Sorg, Laird, Golembiewski and Todd Warnick. It is Valenti's 80th career win at the track, putting him just one behind Paul Weaver atop the all-time win list. "Looks like Kent will be something to contend with this year. Thanks to all my guys and all the sponsors for providing me the chance to do this," said Valenti beside his Craig Miller Trucking, Conrad Transportation, Dave Story Equipment, A Plus Auto Center, Concrete Material Supply, S&S Hauling and Excavating backed #7B. Fremont Speedway will host the biggest paying event in the history of the track Saturday, Sept. 14 for the Jim Ford Classic. The 410 sprint winner will take home $20,000! The 305 sprints will also run two feature events. All events at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction in 2024 will be streamed on DirtVision. The 17th Annual Jim Ford Classic at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction, slated for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13 and 14, will be the richest paying event in the 73 year history of “The Track That Action Built.”
- Cap Henry claims Fremont 410 win, wraps up 3rd AFCS title; Weaver earns 3rd 305 win with Jamie Miller earning AFCS title; Valenti scores 5th truck win
FREMONT, Ohio - Coming into the championship night, Saturday, Sept. 7 at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction for the 410 sprints All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series (AFCS) Presented by the Baumann Auto Group Cale Thomas held a slim 33 point lead over defending series champion Cap Henry. All Henry could do was win on Baumann Auto Group Night and hope for Thomas to finish out of the top 10 if he stood a chance at claiming his third AFCS title. Henry led all 30-laps Saturday to score his second win of the year at "The Track That Action Built," while Thomas finished 12th . It is the second straight AFCS title for Henry, the 2023 Fremont Speedway track champion, and his 20th career win at Fremont. It is the Bellevue, Ohio driver's 7th overall victory of 2024. Current Fremont Speedway point leader Kalib Henry finished second with Nate Dussel, Zane DeVault and DJ Foos rounding out the top five in the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprint A-main. "Everybody did their part on this team. That thing was just plain fast. I knew I was picking through the traffic good…I read that infield scoreboard more than I ever have in my whole career to see if my lead was building or losing. Zack (Myers, crew chief) kept telling me everything I was doing was right but I couldn't have botched that last restart any worse if I tried. I'm just so proud of this whole team. It hasn't been a great year compared to how we did it last year. It was a long shot to get this championship and to pull that off it says so much about everyone involved," said Henry beside his Premier Planning Service, Jeff Ward Demolition, Ohio Logistics, Primal Tee Shop, Elliott's Custom Trailers and Carts, FK Rod Ends, Griff's Engines backed #33W. Fremont, Ohio's Paul Weaver and Vermilion, Ohio's Tyler Shullick put on a whale of a battle for the win in the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprint A-main. Shullick lead laps 1-4 with Weaver taking over for laps five and six. Shullick regained the lead on lap seven only to see Weaver take it back a lap later and lead to lap 19. The pair raced side by side over that 12 lap battle. Shullick lead lap 20 and Weaver inched back ahead a lap later and held on for his third win of 2024 at Fremont with Dustin Stroup, Jamie Miller and Dustin Dinan rounding out the top five. The victory is Weaver's fourth overall victory of 2024 and the 81st of his career at Fremont to sit atop the track's all-time win list. "The last month it's been nice going back to kind of normal. We struggled early this year and finally got some things figured out. I hated showing up wondering what's going to happen next," said Weaver beside his Steve Brown's B&B Drain Service, Hampshire Racing Engines, M&L Excavating backed #1W. Miller just had to make the feature to wrap up his second NAPA of Bryan AFCS Presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales 305 sprint title, topping Weaver's four consecutive years of winning the series title. "We've had a very solid year…been pounding away at it getting solid finishes and hoping we can keep going and get the championship here," said Miller who has nine 305 sprint wins in 2024, three dirt truck victories and a non-wing sprint win this season. Jamie Miller led the first three laps of the 20-lap Burmeister Trophy Dirt Truck feature before Shawn Valenti took over. Valenti and Steve Miller ran door to door for seven straight laps before Miller suffered engine woes with two laps to go. Valenti drove away for his fifth win of the season over Jamie Miller, Dave Golembiewski, Keith Sorg and Ron Miller rounding out the top five. The victory is the 79th career win for Valenti at Fremont Speedway, putting him second, just two behind Weaver on the All-time win list. "We got into a pretty good rhythm there before that caution with five laps to go and I wasn't sure how hard to push it those last couple of laps and he (Steve Miller) woke me up and got me to sit back up in the seat," said Valenti beside his Craig Miller Trucking, Conrad Transportation, Dave Story Equipment, A Plus Auto Center, Concrete Material Supply, S&S Hauling and Excavating backed #7B. Fremont Speedway will be back in action Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13 and 14 for the Jim Ford Classic, the richest event in the history of the track. Friday features a complete program of the Ti-22 Performance Fast on Dirt 410 Sprints, the rest of the series' feature that was cut short due to rain in June along with double features for the dirt trucks. Saturday will feature a $20,000 to win 410 sprint A-main along with double features for the 305 sprints. - Fremont Speedway's Jim Ford Classic richest weekend in track's history
FREMONT, Ohio - The 17th Annual Jim Ford Classic at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction, slated for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13 and 14, will be the richest paying event in the 73 year history of "The Track That Action Built." "When Jim Ford resurrected Fremont Speedway nearly 25 years ago, he saved the tradition of exciting entertainment that has been around for nearly a century. It's appropriate we honor his legacy with the richest paying event in the history of this great track," said Rich Farmer, Fremont Speedway Promoter. On Kistler Engines Night, Friday, there will be double features for the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprints. The $10,000-to-win make up feature from Ohio Sprint Speedweek (there were three laps completed before the rains came) will be contested followed by a regular night's show. Both events will be operated under the Ti-22 Performance FAST On Dirt Series format. The FAST regular event on Friday will pay $5,000 to win, $1,000 for 10th and $600 to start with a total A-main purse of $25,000. Also on Friday, the Burmeister Trophy Dirt Trucks will run the "double down" format with two 15-lap feature events only. The top 18 qualifiers will be locked into the twin features, with six being added from the last chance race. The first feature will be lined up straight up from times with the second feature being inverted based on a dice roll of 2-12. It will be a full weekly purse for each feature event. The Gill Construction/All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads Night, Saturday for the 410-sprints will feature a $20,000-to-win, $1,000 for 10th, $600 to start with a total purse of $50,000! Saturday will be a qualifying/heat passing points format similar to what the track used during the 305 fair race event. Twenty-two cars will make the A-main from the heats and B-main with two provisionals added - the highest All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group that didn't transfer and the highest in Fremont weekly points that did not transfer. The format is as follows for the 410 sprints: • 2 laps of single car time trials - 1~2 cars at a time. • Late for Qualifying: (1) lap at the end and only receive 75% of qualifying points. • Qualifying Points awarded: 150 for 1st, 147 for 2nd …… down by 3 per position. • Passing points for heats • A-main lined straight up by combined points • B-main transfers (6) will tag the tail of the A-main by finish. • Any ties in points will be broken by actual qualifying time. • 23rd starter. - Highest in AFCS Points not yet in the feature • 24th starter. - Highest in Fremont Track Points not yet in the feature Also on Saturday the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprints will run the "double down" format with the top 18 going to the 20-lapA-mains and taking 6 from the last chance race. The first feature is straight up from times with the second feature being inverted via a dice roll of 2-12. It will be a full weekly purse for each feature event. The race fans and crews will also have some fun. Friday night after the races in the campground across from the track race driver Jamie Miller will host karaoke. Following the races Saturday night in the campground there will be a band featuring racer Bryan Sebetto on the drums! - Adjustments propel Foos to 305 Fair Race win at Fremont
FREMONT, Ohio - An open red gave DJ Foos and his crew the opportunity they needed to fine tune on his Merrill-owned 305 sprint car. The changes made to the set-up propelled Foos to the lead with just 10 laps to go as he cruised to the $2,500 win at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction on Fremont Fence Night to open the Sandusky County Fair. "That was pretty hairy. A lot of action tonight. The best car probably didn't win tonight but man, Kevin Osmolski, on that red, he put the super tune on it. It was like a brand new race car…it felt so good. I'm just so happy for the Merrill family, Matt and Michelle and their son Madden. I get the opportunity to drive Madden's car…his dad built him a really good race car. I'm really excited to finally getting a win. We've been getting closer and closer but just couldn't seal the deal. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction," said Foos beside his Kash Kow Motorsports, Snyder's Floor Covering, Adkinson Farms, Wagner Seed, NAPA of Bryan, Foster Auto Body, Handy Grafix, Berryman Racing Shocks, Kistler Race Products backed #39M. Zeth Sabo jumped to the early lead in the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprint 30-lap feature with Bryan Sebetto, Kasey Jedrzejek, Dustin Stroup and Foos in tow. Lead until caution on lap 14. Once the race resumed Sebetto executed a slider for the lead at the half-way point. Sabo tried to return the favor in turns one and two and contact was made sending Sabo and Sebetto flipping and handing the lead to Stroup. A crash on lap 20 involving four cars brought out about an open red. On the restart Foos pounced, driving into the lead over Stroup, Craig Mintz, Jedrzejek and John Ivy. Foos pulled away the final five laps for the win over Mintz, Stroup, Jedrzejek and Ivy. Fremont Speedway will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 7 with the championship night for the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group for the 410 sprints and the NAPA of Bryan AFCS presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales for the 305 Sprints. The Burmeister Trophy Dirt Trucks will also be in action. All events at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction in 2024 will be streamed on DirtVision. - Adjustments propel Foos to 305 Fair Race win at Fremont
An open red gave DJ Foos and his crew the opportunity they needed to fine tune on his Merrill-owned 305 sprint car. The changes made to the set-up propelled Foos to the lead with just 10 laps to go as he cruised to the $2,500 win at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction on Fremont Fence Night to open the Sandusky County Fair.
- Kalib Henry switches lanes and gets 3rd Fremont 410 win; Jamie Miller does same and takes non-wing victory; Dustin Keegan holds on for truck win
FREMONT, Ohio - For 25 laps Kalib Henry and DJ Foos battled for the lead of the 410 sprint car A-main at Fremont Speedway presented by Gill Construction. The duo swapped the top spot several times but a caution with five laps to go and a decision by Henry to change lanes took him to his third win of the year at "The Track That Action Built" on Sandusky County Chamber of Commerce/Sandusky County Visitors Bureau/Sandusky County Economic Development/City of Fremont Night. Foos led the first 13 laps of the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprint A-main with sixth starter Henry leading laps 14-18. Foos regained the top spot on lap 19 with Henry taking the lead back on lap 21. Foos drove under Henry, who was committed to the top ledge of the track, on lap 24 with Henry back to the point right as the caution flew on lap 25. On the ensuing restart Henry, from Sacramento, California, opted to drive to the bottom of turns one and two and that was the winning move as he pulled away for the win over Foos, Zane DeVault, Cap Henry and Sean Rayhall. The win pads Henry's lead in the track's points. Cap Henry's 10th to fourth place run will close the gap on 12th place finisher Cale Thomas' advantage in the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by the Baumann Auto Group. "I kept seeing DJ poke his nose and I knew I needed to do something different there…I wasn't sure because I hadn't been down there the whole race. I kept driving over the edge down in one and two…the cushion rolled up over the top and I knew I had to change something up. I had to change something up on the restart. I can't thank Jim and Rebecca Muth enough for the opportunity. I know my parents are headed to Knoxville so they're screaming at the phone driving there. I can't wait to see them tomorrow," said Henry beside his Running Boxer Farms, Harris Distributing Company, Valvoline, K1, Berryman Racing Shocks, Chalkstix backed #101. Fremont's Jamie Miller has won in 305 winged sprints and dirt trucks at Fremont in 2024. He added a non-wing victory Saturday in a thrilling battle with Aiden Salisbury in the first ever appearance of the American Sprint Car Tour at Fremont Speedway. Salisbury lead the first three laps before Miller, who started third, took over. The pair raced side by side with Miller up top and Salisbury on the bottom. Salisbury retook the lead on lap 21 but Miller moved to the bottom on the race track in turns three and four as they raced to the white flag, and took the lead and 51st career win at Fremont over Salisbury, Tyler Miller, Larry Kingseed and Brian Smith. "I was good up top but it was starting to get tight and I messed up a couple of times and I knew that allowed him to close a couple of times but I knew he couldn't get by me or away from me. He left the bottom wide open and on the white flag I said hell with it I'm going to the bottom and it stuck like glue," said Miller. The Burmeister Trophy Dirt Trucks also put on a thrilling feature event. Former track champion Dustin Keegan lead the opening lap before Kent Brewer took over for a lap with fifth starter and current point leader Keith Sorg moving into the lead on lap three. Sorg led until lap nine when Keegan regained the top spot with Sorg battling back to the point on lap 12. On a restart, Keegan moved to the lead once again. Keegan held off several challenges from Sorg the final seven laps to score his second win of 2024 and the 11th of his career at the track. Sorg, Jamie Miller, Shawn Valenti and Brewer rounded out the top five. "I have two compressed vertebra in my lower back so it's painful out there. I want to thank my dad, my girlfriend and all the sponsors who help on this truck," said Keegan beside his Sonny's Signs, Burmeister Trophy, Jeff Ward Demolition backed #17x. - Thomas and Sebetto Win at Fremont
Cale Thomas won the Winged 410 Sprint Car feature Saturday night at Fremont Speedway.
- Kalib Henry wins nail-biter for 1st Attica 410 win; Moore nips Bores for 3rd straight late model victory; Miller nurses engine to 6th 305 win
ATTICA, Ohio - Sacramento, California's Kalib Henry out-dueled Cap Henry to score his first 410 sprint win at Attica Raceway Park on Ohio Truck sales/Adkins Group Night, Friday, July 26. Henry, who started sixth in the 30-lap A-main, took the lead from the defending track champion on lap seven and held off several challenges from Cap Henry to score the win. "Boss man and everybody back home are super happy. I can't thank Doc and Rebecca enough for the opportunity they've given me. Nate for cheering us along back home and all my family that's back home…going to see you guys in two weeks. Hats off to Kevin. He gave us a hell of a race car. I really didn't know where to be out front in lapped traffic. I give credit where credit is due. Cap raced me hard, he raced me clean. We struggled here quite a bit. Drew the six and didn't know what to expect the way the track was. I knew when Cap struck his nose in there I had to turn it up and move around and see what I could do," said Henry beside his Running Boxer Farms, Harris Distributing Company, Valvoline, K1, Berryman Racing Shocks, Chalkstix backed #101. The victory in the Callie's Performance Products 410 A-main is the third of the year for Kalib Henry, adding to a pair of victories at Fremont Speedway. For Cap Henry it was a good point night in his quest to earn another Attica track title and a second straight All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by the Baumann Auto Group title. AFCS and Attica point leader Cale Thomas finished fourth behind DJ Foos while TJ Michael rounded out the top five. While the scorecard will show Mansfield, Ohio's Kyle Moore lead all 25 laps of the Whistle Stop Presents the Dirt Nerd Podcast Powered by Propane UMP Late Model Feature, it was not nearly that easy. Mike Bores came on strong and challenged Moore lap after lap but Moore hit his marks and drove to his third straight feature win at Attica over Bores, Rusty Schlenk, Casey Noonan and Devin Shiels. It's Moore's fourth career win at Attica…all of them coming this season. In fact, since the opening two weeks of the season, Moore has not finished out of the top three to lead the track's point standings. "They say the first win is the hardest to get and it was. Last year I probably should have had one or two of them and got passed in the last corner. This is a dream," said Moore beside his Kepling Flooring, Tye Tworg Longhorn, Joyride Transportation, Smitley Towing, Short Stop, Malcuit Race Engines, Wilson Realty, Robin Jakubick, RL Bond Septic, Hepthorn Golf Cart Sales, House of Spud, K&B Septic Service, Coffman Composites, Team Midwest Paint, Platinum Design backed #1*. Fremont, Ohio's Jamie Miller knew his engine was hurt in his 305 sprint car after his heat race. A call to his engine builder - who told him to put block sealer in it and pray - didn't ease his mind any. However, the four time and defending Attica track champion was able to nurse his car home for his sixth win of the year at the track. Of the 12 features at Attica in 2024, Miller has only finished out of the top five in one event, a 17th place finish on the second night of the year. Jimmy McGrath led the opening lap of the Fremont Fence 305 Sprints feature before Miller took over. Despite several cautions Miller was able to drive to his 45th career win at Attica over Bryan Sebetto, Dustin Stroup, McGrath and Logan Riel. The win also pads Miller's lead in the NAPA of Bryan Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales points as he looks for his first title in the series. "We knew we had a problem after the heat. The oil pan was full of water. We called Scott Gressman and he told us to put block sealer in it and heat it up. It got up to 270 degrees in the feature…I don't know how it made it," said Miller beside his Boca Construction, JLH General Contractors, Kenny Kelb Farms, Tuck Pointing America, Queen of Clean, Smitty's Pizza, Roberts & Sons Contracting, Pizza Wheel, Crown Battery, Reedtown Tavern, Fostoria Mod Shop, Sandy's Dad, Gressman Powersports, Phil Rister, Slade Shock Technology backed #26. Attica Raceway Park will take a couple of weeks off for the Attica Independent Fair before returning Friday, Aug. 16 with the AFCS 410 and 305 sprints and UMP late models in action. - Kalib Henry earns 2nd 410 Fremont win; Stroup gets 2nd straight 305 victory; Valenti tames trucks for 4th straight win
FREMONT, Ohio - There's just something about Fremont Speedway presented by Gill Construction that brings out the best in sprint car drivers from California. A few years ago California driver Buddy Kofoid claimed the track championship and recently brothers Cole and Caron Macedo scored victories at "The Track That Action Built." That California connection continued Saturday, July 13 on Crown Battery Night as Kalib Henry from Sacramento, California scored his second 410 sprint win of the season at Fremont. DJ Foos led the first six laps of the 30 lap Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprint A-main until defending track champion Cap Henry drove into the top spot. Meanwhile sixth start Kalib Henry took second on lap eight and started to reel in Cap Henry, driving into the lead on lap 13 just as the caution flew. On the restart Cap Henry regained the top spot but at the half-way point Kalib Henry retook the lead. Cap Henry stayed right on Kalib Henry's rear bumper until suffering mechanical issues with five laps to go. Trey Jacobs, who ran in the top five the entire race, closed in the final few laps but Henry powered to the win. Jacobs, Zeth Sabo, TJ Michael and Cale Thomas rounded out the top five. Kalib Henry's win pads his division point lead at Fremont while Thomas' 10th consecutive top 10 finish increases his lead in the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by the Baumann Auto Group standings. "Really can't thank the Muth family enough for giving me this awesome opportunity. Kevin busts his ass and we got Connor here this week giving us a hand and taking a little bit of a load of me tonight. I kind of had a feeling tonight we were going to be good from the git…I guess when you have that feeling good things come true," said Henry beside his Running Boxer Farms, Harris Distributing Company, Valvoline, K1, Berryman Racing Shocks, Chalkstix backed #101. Kasey Ziebold led the first 11 laps of the 25-lap Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprint A-main before third starter Dustin Stroup drove to the point. Following a caution on lap 14, six starter Jamie Miller moved into second and the battle for the lead was on. Stroup and Miller ran side by side lap after lap until a caution with four laps remaining. When the green flew that battle between Stroup and Miller continued right to the very end. Stroup earned his second straight win, the 11th of his career at the track, with Miller, Ziebold, Brenden Torok and Chad Wilson rounding out the top five. Stroup gained a few points on Miller in the battle for the title of the NAPA of Bryan AFCS presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales. "I don't like to win like that….that was too close for me. I could hear him (Miller) ripping it on the top. Me and Jamie are good buddies…that was a good hard race. I felt real good off the bottom but the crew guys were telling me to go to the top but I didn't want to go there. I took the lead where we were running the car just felt good. I have to thank Jamie and Renee for letting me drive this car, my mom and dad, my girlfriend Katie and my daughter, Tracey and all the sponsors," said Stroup beside his Sulfur Town Pub, BSE Welding, Meru Safety, Velocity Print, The Pizza House, Sunrise Designs, Momma Dukes from Shelluke's Bar and Grill, GCE LLC, Handy Grafix, Mitten Painting, Myers Racing Engines, Rohr Total Lawn Care, Eye Candy Custom Cycles, DJ Johnson & Family, GWH, Advance Auto Parts, BRS, J&J Auto backed #12x. After Jamie Miller lead the opening lap of the 20-lap Burmeister Trophy Dirt Truck A0main, fifth starter Shawn Valenti took the lead but Miller and he raced side by side over the next five laps. Following a spat of cautions, Valenti pulled away slightly from Miller and drove to his fourth consecutive feature win. Miller earned his fourth second place finish of the year with Keith Sorg, Kent Brewer and Andy Keegan rounding out the top five. Valenti, a four time truck track champion, now has 78 career wins at Fremont, putting him just two behind all-time feature winner Paul Weaver. "I could get used to this winning stuff again. I kind of stuck on the top there too long last week and learned my lesson. Awesome truck once again from my guys, Nick, Noah, Jeff Babcock, Squirrel…it's pretty amazing," said Valenti beside his Craig Miller Trucking, Conrad Transportation, Dave Story Equipment, A Plus Auto Center, Concrete Material Supply, S&S Hauling and Excavating #7B. - Brubaker breaks through for 1st 410 win of year at Fremont; Stroup dominates 305s; Valenti tames trucks
FREMONT, Ohio - There were times during the 2024 racing season that Stuart Brubaker probably thought about quitting as his family-owned 410 sprint team struggled with performance and crashes, switching chassis and set-ups trying to find speed. But, the veteran didn't give up and it finally paid off at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction Saturday, July 6 in thrilling fashion on Roots Poultry Night. A three-time Fremont Speedway 305 track champion, Brubaker, from Helena, Ohio, watched an over four second lead evaporate as he struggled with lapped traffic late in the caution-free 30-lap Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprint feature. Brubaker held off a charging Cap Henry to score his first win of the season by just .196 seconds. DJ Foos, Larry Kingseed and Mike Keegan rounded out the top five. It was Brubaker's 9th career victory at "The Track That Action Built." "I was a little bit faster than the lapped cars but if I moved off the bottom then I opened a lane for him (Henry) and them guys ain't afraid of crashing. To say we've struggled this year is a huge understatement. We've tried different cars… we changed everything and this car is the one we started the year with. It's my guys, Bill and Brad and Ron…they never gave up. They have been busting their asses all year trying to get me better," said Brubaker beside his Pit Stop, Black Swamp H&C, Story Equipment, Josh Kromer's Seamless Gutters, Finish Line Race Fuels, Gressman Powersports backed #35. With his second place finish Henry, the 2023 All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by the Baumann Auto Group champion, closes the gap on Cale Thomas and Zeth Sabo who entered the night one and two in the series' standings as Thomas finished 10th and Sabo 13th at Fremont. Just like Brubaker, Fremont, Ohio's Dustin Stroup has struggled at Fremont Speedway in 2024. A night after his car suffered a rear end issue at Attica Raceway Park, Stroup was able to dominate the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprint feature that saw only one caution flag for his first win of 2024 at the track. Stroup's 10th career victory at Fremont came in dominating fashion as he won by six seconds over Jamie Miller, Tyler Schiets, Zack Kramer and Kasey Ziebold. "Last night we blew a rear-end up at Attica so Dad and I stayed up late and got it all changed and Jamie and the guys came over and we got it all squared away. I felt really good but not six seconds good…that's awesome. I gotta thank everyone on this thing…Jamie and Renee for letting me drive their car. My mom and dad and my girlfriend Katie and my daughter Layla, Tracey…everybody that helps out," said Stroup beside his Sulfur Town Pub, BSE Welding, Meru Safety, Velocity Print, The Pizza House, Sunrise Designs, Momma Dukes from Shelluke's Bar and Grill, GCE LLC, Handy Grafix, Mitten Painting, Myers Racing Engines, Rohr Total Lawn Care, Eye Candy Custom Cycles, DJ Johnson & Family, GWH, Advance Auto Parts, BRS, J&J Auto backed #12x. Miller's second place run will keep him atop the NAPA of Bryan Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales standings though Stroup's win will narrow that gap. Despite a lot of cautions, the 20-lap Burmeister Trophy Dirt Truck feature was very entertaining up front. Dustin Keegan led the first two laps before Steve Miller took the lead for four circuits. Keith Sorg drove into the top spot on lap seven before surrendering it to Shawn Valenti on lap 12. Sorg inched back ahead for lap 14 before Valenti regained the lead on lap 15. Valenti ran the top shelf while Sorg hugged the bottom and pair raced side by side the last five laps and coming to the checkers Valenti edged Sorg by .083 seconds for his third win at Fremont in 2024 with Dan Hennig, Keegan and Kent Brewer rounding out the top five. Valenti's third straight truck win is the 77th of his career at Fremont and puts him in second on the all-time win list, surpassing hall of famer the late Art Ball and just three behind Paul Weaver. "I grew up watching Art Ball and got to race with him with him quite a bit and I think his last win…he got me on that one. To surpass him…hats off to his career. It's amazing to be up here with that many wins. Hats off to Babcock and all my guys on this brand new truck…the thing is amazing. I wasn't sure if I should leave the top on either end and obviously I shouldn't have…he (Sorg) drove it in there pretty hard on the last lap," said Valenti beside his Craig Miller Trucking, Conrad Transportation, Dave Story Equipment, A Plus Auto Center, Concrete Material Supply, S&S Hauling and Excavating backed #7B. Fremont Speedway will be back in action Saturday, July 13 with the AFCS 410 and 305 sprints and dirt trucks in action on Crown Battery Night. About Root's Poultry - https://www.rootspoultry.com Wayne Root was stringing phone lines when the Great Depression hit. To support his family, Root began buying produce and other foods from local farmers and taking them to market in the Cleveland area. In Cleveland, he would purchase products to bring back and sell to the farmers. At some point Wayne started raising his own chickens to butcher and take to market and that evolved into a chicken processing facility. The facility where Roots Poultry is located today near Fremont opened in early 1956. It still had an area in the back where chickens were brought in, a processing area in the middle and, in the front, a retail store. Due to a change in federal law, Wayne quit raising and dressing his own chickens and Roots became a processor. Later, Wayne's grandchildren Mark and Mike Damschroder were working in the business and in 1985 bought it from their grandmother. The company had evolved to the point that it was producing ready-to-eat chicken products. Shredded chicken became the company's bread-and-butter product, but later the company added barbeque pork and other pork and beef products under the Daisyfield brand. Today Roots produces over two dozen products and all can be found in the freezer section at area retail stores. - Brubaker breaks through for 1st 410 win of year at Fremont
There were times during the 2024 racing season that Stuart Brubaker probably thought about quitting as his family-owned 410 sprint team struggled with performance and crashes, switching chassis and set-ups trying to find speed. But, the veteran didn’t give up and it finally paid off at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction Saturday, July 6 in thrilling fashion on Roots Poultry Night.

- Lucius earns 2nd 410 Attica win; Moore dominates late model feature; Miller nabs 5th 305 win
ATTICA, Ohio - Bryce Lucius just had to settle down and let the car come to him Friday, June 28 at Attica Raceway Park. The 17-year-old Findlay, Ohio driver battled with a couple of other racers early and withstood challenges late to score his second Attica win of the season on Smith Family Foods/Columbus Equipment/Etna Supply Night. Jordan Ryan led the opening lap of the Callie's Performance Products 410 Sprint A-main with pressure from Lucius and Zeth Sabo. Lucius took over the point on lap two but had Sabo racing to his inside lap after lap before Cale Thomas entered the picture and took second on lap seven. Thomas poked his nose under Lucius several times but could not get clear to take the lead. Lucius, the 2023 national 410 rookie of the year, worked lapped traffic like a seasoned veteran and drove to the win over Thomas, Sabo, Cap Henry and Greg Wilson. "My dad, Swank (Tyler), Drew and my mom had me good. Luckily we were able to start on the pole. I'm glad Zeth (Sabo) didn't take me out…I was out of control those first couple of laps. I had to get the wing back and everything. Me and Cale (Thomas) race each other pretty good…I knew I'd be good racing with him for the win," said Lucius beside his X1 Race Cars, CML Transport, Kistler Engines, Big Red Truck Wash, STP Racing, Bobby Clark Racing, Shelluke's Bar & Grill, Fremont Floor Covering, S&B Concrete & Excavating, Foster Auto Body, NAPA of Bryan, 87 Speed backed #32. Mansfield, Ohio's Kyle Moore seemed comfortable to cruise around the top five early in the 25-lap Whistle Stop Presents the Dirt Nerds Podcast Powered by Propane UMP Late Model feature. Mike Bores led the opening lap with JR Gentry taking over a lap later and pulled out to a substantial lead while Bores, Moore and Devin Shiels battled for second. When Gentry hit lapped traffic just past halfway, Moore shot to the high side of the track and closed, driving by Gentry on lap 16. Moore cruised to his second career Attica win over Gentry, Shiels, Bores and Colin Shipley. "I wasn't sure what the hell I was doing early in that race. I was like well I'm going to the top because this ain't working. That track was hands down the best track I've ever been on. I have to thank my brother….man he's been grinding from day one with me and Tye Tworg for giving me this hot rod. Hands down the best race car I've ever drove. My buddy Ben from Ankeny, Iowa. He helps us out a lot…crazy how we met but he helps a lot," said Moore beside his Kepling Flooring, Tye Tworg Longhorn, Joyride Transportation, Smitley Towing, Short Stop, Malcuit Race Engines, Wilson Realty, Robin Jakubick, RL Bond Septic, Hepthorn Golf Cart Sales, House of Spud, K&B Septic Service, Coffman Composites, Team Midwest Paint, Platinum Design backed #1*. Fremont, Ohio's Jamie Miller is having a fantastic season. The four time and defending Attica 305 track champion led all 25 laps Friday to score fifth win of the year - the 44th of his career - at Attica Raceway Park. Coupled with his three wins at Fremont Speedway, Miller has eight total feature wins in 2024. Following Miller to the checkers were Dustin Stroup, Brenden Torok, Jimmy McGrath and Steve Rando. "Riehl Custom Fabrication Chassis are bad ass. If you aren't in one you're following one. This thing was good and I think I'm finally figuring out how to run the bottom," said Miller beside his Boca Construction, JLH General Contractors, Kenny Kolb Farms, Tuck Pointing America, Queen of Clean, Smitty's Pizza, Roberts & Sons Contracting, Pizza Wheel, Crown Battery, Reedtown Tavern, Fostoria Mod Shop, Sandy's Dad, Gressman Powersports, Phil Rister, Slade Shock Technology backed #26. Attica Raceway Park will be back in action Friday, July 5 with the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products 410 Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group, the UMP Late Models and the NAPA of Bryan 305 AFCS Presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales in Action. - Sabo wins thriller 410 sprint feature at Fremont; Riehl gets 1st 305 win; Valenti tames trucks
FREMONT, Ohio - A few weeks ago coming to the checkers in the 410 sprint feature at Fremont Speedway presented by Gill Construction, Zeth Sabo and Kalib Henry made contact, with Henry getting the win. The 21-year-old Fremont native wasn't about to let that happen again Saturday, June 22 on Willie's Sales & Service Night." Coming to the checkers Sabo and Cap Henry made contact with Henry flipping and Sabo sustaining front wing damage but kept rolling and on the ensuing restart held off Cale Thomas for his second career Fremont win. "After Cap got into me I thought we were done for. I thought the front end was out of it. We lost one a couple of weeks ago like that and I wasn't going to let it happen again. Those guys were giving me everything they had. I got into a lapper there early and messed the top wing up too. I can't thank Rich and Shelly Farmer enough for giving me this opportunity and all the guys who work so hard on this," said Sabo beside his NAPA Auto Parts of Fremont, Level Utilities, Kiser Sound, Limo Scene Limousine Services backed #29. Sabo led laps 1-26 with Henry narrowly leading lap 27 and Sabo leading the final three circuits. Thomas, the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by the Baumann Auto Group point leader, Kalib Henry, DJ Foos and Trey Jacobs rounded out the top five of the Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprint A-main. Sabo's victory was worth $4,500 thanks to Ray Brooks of Gill Construction who added $500 to each of the three division A-main winners shares. The 25 lap Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprint feature finish was also exciting. Two cautions late in the race made it very interesting for Logan Riehl. The Clyde, Ohio driver led all 25 laps but he and Jamie Miller raced side by side for several laps until Paul Weaver took second on lap 21. Just as the white flag was flying a caution flew. On the ensuing restart Weaver made contact with an infield tire, ending his run. When the green flew it was Jimmy McGrath and Miller who battled Riehl. The drag race to the checkers saw Riehl claim his first ever Fremont win over Miller, McGrath, Zack Kramer and Brandon Moore. Miller's second place run pads his lead in the NAPA of Bryan Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales points. "I knew if I could just calm down and hit my marks everything would play out. I can't thank everyone here enough. We've been struggling really bad here this year and we kind of threw something at it tonight and it really worked. I could drive it where ever I wanted. These RCF Chassis are really kicking ass this year," said Riehl beside his Cornerstone Farms, Larry Riehl, Bascom Diesel Supply backed #9R. In a caution-filled 20 lap Burmeister Trophy Dirt Truck feature, Fostoria, Ohio's Shawn Valenti, a four time Fremont track champion, survived to claim his second win of the year and 76th career victory at Fremont, tying him with the legendary Art Ball for second on the track's all-time win list. "We've worked hard on this new truck and we weren't sure how it would pan out. It's a phenomenal truck. I have to thank Ron Miller for everything he's done for me, Jeff Babcock, Erik Wolleson also known as squirrel…we busted our butts on this thing to make sure it was right before we brought it out and I'd say it's setting pretty good," said Valenti beside his Craig Miller Trucking, Conrad Transportation, Dave Story Equipment, A Plus Auto Center, Concrete Material Supply, S&S Hauling and Excavating backed #7B. Fremont Speedway will be back in action Saturday, June 29 with the Ti-22 Performance FAST On Dirt Series coming back for a regular program along with the remaining laps of the $10,000 to win Ohio Sprint Speedweek event that was postponed after three laps were complete because of Rain. The USAC D2 Thunder Midgets will also be in competition as will the 305 sprints. All events at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction in 2024 will be streamed on DirtVision.
