- Seth Bergman Triumphant On Opening Night Of The Mickey Walker Classic At Outlaw Motor Speedway
Bryan Hulbert - OKTAHA, Okla. (June 2, 2023) Capturing his second win of the season with the American Sprint Car Series National Tour, Washington's Seth Bergman held off the last lap charge of Matt Covington to win Night 1 of the Mickey Walker Classic at Outlaw Motor Speedway. Seth's 18th career victory in ASCS National competition, the No. 23, has not finished off the podium all season. "What a race. I wasn't sure what was going to happen there when we rolled out. I saw it was cleaning off, and the track hadn't really been touching tires all night, but this was a badass racetrack, to be honest. You had to be brave and get up on the wheel and really send it around here," stated Bergman. Starting third, the Stagg Insurance/Evergreen Coffee, Co. No. 23 chased in third the opening five rotations. Taking over second from Matt Covington, the challenge was reeling in Brandon Anderson. Getting drive on the field following a Lap 8 restart, Brandon put over a half-second on Seth. Gaining and falling on the Permastone Countertop Solutions No. 55b through Lap 14, Seth found a run off the second turn the following lap. Shooting under Anderson into the third turn, Seth slid across the nose of the No. 55b to take over the top spot. On the pass for the lead, Seth said, "I was stalking Brandon, and every time I'd get close to him, the car would get tight, so I started really studying over here in three and four how much speed he would lose to the apex, and I just told myself if I could get within a certain distance, I could pull the trigger and beat him to it and got about as good as I was probably going to get, pulled the wing back, and drove it across there as hard as I could to clear him." Looking to have the win well in hand as the race entered the final laps, red lights came on with two laps to run for Rees Moran. Caution on the restart as Covington worked into second, the No, 95 would get another chance as caution lights came on for a pair of cars stopping atop the second turn. Pulling around Anderson, the white flag lap saw the Reece Construction Co. No. 95 mount a huge charge off the second turn. Nearly into the back of Bergman entering the third turn, Covington shot the bottom as Seth banked cushion to wall. Pulling even through the final turn, Seth held off the No. 95 by 0.282-seconds. Matt Covington, in second, for the 14th time with the ASCS National Tour, was chased by Brandon Anderson for his second career podium appearance. Working the hub of the three-eights-mile oval, Fred Mattox rolled to fourth with Jason Martin fifth. Alex Sewell was sixth, followed by Bradley Fezard with a run from 17th to seventh. Howard Moore, eighth, was followed by Kyler Johnson. Jordan Mallett from 15th made up the top ten. The opening night of the Mickey Walker Classic welcomed a field of 25 ASCS drivers to Outlaw Motor Speedway. Seth Bergman established the ASCS Track Record at 16.460-seconds. A trio of AR Dyno, Specialty Heat Races, was won by Matt Covington, Brandon Anderson, and Alex Sewell. The KSE Hard Charger was Michael Day who advanced 14 positions. The Friday affair included Champ/305 Sprint Cars which was topped by Tanner Conn. Sooner Late Models saw Kip Hughes in Victory Lane, while Grant Davis won the USRA Factory Stock feature. Michael Hornback was the victor with the USRA Modifieds. The Mickey Walker Classic shifts to Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kan., for Night 2 on Saturday, June 3, 2023. Gates open at 5:00 P.M., with racing at 7:30 P.M. (CDT). Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, and free for kids 12 and under. Pits are $40. Caney Valley Speedway is located just north of Caney, Kan., at 1324 County Road 1600. The 2023 season will mark the 32nd year of competition for the American Sprint Car Series. - Mickey Walker Classic At Outlaw And Caney Next For American Sprint Car Series
Bryan Hulbert - DRUMRIGHT, Okla. (May 30, 2023) Taking on the Mickey Walker Classic this Friday, June 2, and Saturday, June 3, the National Tour of the American Sprint Car Series will be at the three-eighths-mile Outlaw Motor Speedway in Oktaha, Okla. on Friday, then the quick quarter-mile Caney Valley Speedway on Saturday. Both nights of racing pay $4,222 to win, $422 to start the A-Feature for the American Sprint Car Series, and will also feature OCRS style Champ/305 Sprint Cars racing for $1,222 to win, $122 to start. Both late additions to the 2023 lineup, the weekend was originally slated for Creek County Speedway; however, a schedule change at the track caused the Mickey Walker Classic to move. Creek County Speedway will be featured on the ASCS National schedule on Thursday, June 15. The only time Outlaw Motor Speedway will be open for action in 2023, the track has been kept in racing condition. Only needing some general cleaning to get ready, the Oklahoma Oval, located just south of Muskogee, has seen action four times, with just as many winners since 2003. Five visits to Caney Valley Speedway, the Kansas oval was featured in 1993, then was absent from the schedule until 2020. Canada's Dylan Westbrook is the only repeat winner at Caney. Going into the weekend, Seth Bergman continues to lead the points by 21 over Jason Martin, who captured his fourth National Tour win of the season on Sunday at Lake Ozark Speedway. Seven events into the season, Seth Bergman has not finished worse than third. Matching podium runs by Gary Wright, Jason Johnson, and Sam Hafertepe, Jr. The longest streak of podium finishes belongs to Gary Wight at 12 during the 2005 season. Friday, June 2, at Outlaw Motor Speedway, opens at 5:00 P.M. with racing at 8:00 P.M. (CDT). Tickets are $20 for adults, $5 for youth (11-14), and free for kids 10 and under. Pits are $40. Outlaw Motor Speedway is located south of Muskogee on Hwy. 69 at 8100 Wainwright Rd. in Oktaha, Okla. The track can be found on Facebook for more information. Saturday, June 3, at Caney Valley Speedway, opens at 5:00 P.M. with racing at 7:30 P.M. (CDT). Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for seniors, and free for kids 12 and under. Pits are $40. Caney Valley Speedway is located just north of Caney, Kan., at 1324 County Road 1600. Terry Mattox is promoting both nights of the Mickey Walker Classic. - Jason Martin Returns To ASCS National Victory Lane At Lake Ozark Speedway!
Bryan Hulbert - ELDON, Mo. (May 28, 2023) Bouncing back at Lake Ozark Speedway, Jason Martin captured his fourth win of the season with the National Tour of the American Sprint Car Series and first of his career at the one-third-mile oval. The eighth time Jason Martin has topped the American Sprint Car Series National Tour, the Lake Ozark win is his first in the state of Missouri. Adding to his runner-up finish on Friday, Martin shot the outside on the start to capture the lead over Blake Hahn. Fending off the challenge from the DriveWFX.com No. 52 in traffic, Martin went on to lead the full 30-lap feature event. "I felt like I needed to get out front early because I really figured the top was going to be the dominant place to be, but I was worried it was going to be slimy still on the start. Blake took off really good on the bottom, and I spun my tires in the middle, so I just decided to rip the top, and it worked," explained Jason of the start. Able to hold on to the runner-up spot after several attempts by Joe B. Miller to take it, Blake Hahn was ultimately joined on the podium Seth Bergman, who has finished on the podium in seven consecutive outings with the ASCS National Tour. Taking advantage of a couple of restarts in the closing laps, Miles Paulus raced from ninth to fourth, with Jordon Mallett rebounding from a failed ignition box at the start of the night, to earn the KSE Hard Charger with a run from 21st to fifth. Jace Park crossed sixth, followed by Kyle Bellm. Brandon Anderson made up five positions to finish eighth, with Joe B. Miller slipping to ninth on the final laps with a failing tire. Howard Moore made up five spots to complete the top ten. Sunday night at Lake Ozark Speedway featured a 27-car field, with Joe B. Miller setting the overall quick qualifying time at 12.428-seconds. A trio of AR Dyno Specialty Heat Races went to Colton Hardy, Jason Martin, and Jace Park. The BMRS B-Feature was topped by Terry Easum. Provisional starts were used by Christopher Townsend and Kyler Johnson. The American Sprint Car Series is back on track on Friday, June 2, at Outlaw Motor Speedway and Saturday, June 3, at Caney Valley Speedway. The two events make up the Mickey Walker Classic, with each night paying $4,222 to win, $422 to start. The 2023 season will mark the 32nd year of competition for the American Sprint Car Series. Spearheaded by the American Sprint Car Series National Tour, the ASCS Nation includes Regional Tours that encompass both wing and non-wing competition. - Joe B. Miller Breaks Through With ASCS National At Lake Ozark Speedway!
Bryan Hulbert - ELDON, Mo. (May 27, 2023) So many laps led over the years. Finally, Missouri's Joe B. Miller led the last one Saturday night at Lake Ozark Speedway for his first career victory with the National Tour of the American Sprint Car Series. The 166th different winner with the American Sprint Car Series, Joe became the 13th Missourian to win with the National Tour, joining names like Brian Brown, Danny Lasoski, and Jesse Hockett to name a few. Almost a spectator, Joe B. Miller borrowed an engine from Scotty Milan, as his is still getting worked on. "I have to thank Scotty Milan. We didn't have an engine for this weekend, and he wasn't able to come in, so I called and asked if I could use his, and he said go for it." Adding to his success across numerous divisions at Lake Ozark, Joe said, "We got the regional win, but we've been working on getting this National Tour win for a little bit. We've been hit and miss, so this is pretty cool. It's a relief really. We were talking this week that we've been pretty good here in just about everything. We were just lacking the National Tour win." Getting the lead from the start, Miller had to fend of Seth Bergman with five laps to go. Moving just off the cushion, the Corridor Electric No. 23 was quick to Miller's back bumper. Pulling under the No. 51b off the fourth turn, Seth got next to Joe, but could not clear into the first turn. Going on the defense, Miller adjusted and held on for the win. Slipping by for second on Lap 22, Jason Martin posted his 20th career ASCS National podium finish. Pushing his podium streak to six on the season, Seth Bergman grabbed third. Moving up from 11th, Landon Britt crossed fourth, with Howard Moore fifth. Kyle Bellm, in sixth, was chased by Miles Paulus, who was the night's KSE Hard Charger, after gaining 11 positions. Matt Covington was eighth, with Brandon Anderson ninth. Moving up ten spots, Michael Day completed the top ten. Night 1 of the Spring Sprint Showdown included a 32-car field with Blake Hahn, the overall quick qualifier at 12.389-seconds. Four AR Dyno Specialty Heat Races went to Matt Covington, Howard Moore, Seth Bergman, and Joe B. Miller. The BMRS B-Feature was won by Gunner Ramey. The Spring Sprint Showdown at Lake Ozark Speedway continues on Sunday, May 28. Hot Laps are at 6:30 P.M. and Racing at 7:30 P.M. (CDT). Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors, $10 for youth (6-12), and $40 for the Pits. The 2023 season will mark the 32nd year of competition for the American Sprint Car Series. Spearheaded by the American Sprint Car Series National Tour, the ASCS Nation includes Regional Tours that encompass both wing and non-wing competition. - Austin McCarl Unstoppable With American Sprint Car Series At Lakeside Speedway!
Bryan Hubert - KANSAS CITY, Kan. (May 26, 2023) Getting his second career victory with the American Sprint Car Series Friday night, Iowa's Austin McCarl ran to the lead on Lap 16 and never looked back at Lakeside Speedway. "I felt like I was just as good as Seth early, but we just couldn't get to traffic or get off the cushion; then Dover came and schooled us all there on the bottom for a while, and just had to wait for traffic," said McCarl of the race. "Really happy to get one, you know I started to get tight, and you never know how good of a lead you have, so I was just trying to go as hard as I could." Charing forward from the fifth spot, the Country Builders No. 88 raced to second through a pair of starts as Seth Bergman took off with the lead. Both working topside around the four-tenths-mile oval, Austin fell to third on Lap 7 as Jack Dover rolled by on the inside. Taking the point from Seth on Lap 9, the No. 23 tried to shoot under Dover into the third turn a few laps later but found the door slammed. A wild save by the Bryant Paver Motorsports No. 23; that allowed McCarl to move into the runner-up spot. Building his momentum on Dover, the race for the point came on Lap 15, with McCarl nearly taking the spot. Able to carry the momentum through on Lap 16, Austin took over the lead and began pulling away. Working through several cautions during the race, the final stoppage came on Lap 20 as the field had to go under an open red for fuel. Wasting no time at the drop of the green, McCarl was a blur the closing five laps, with a 2.210-second advantage at the drop of the checkered flag. Jack Dover crossed second in his first race of the season in his Certified Transmission No. 53, with Seth Bergman keeping his podium steak alive in third. Blake Hahn crossed fourth in his first ASCS National start of the season, with Colton Hardy moving ahead four spots to fifth. Earning the KSE Hard Charger of the night, Matt Covington tore through the field 13 positions to sixth. Jace Park was seventh from 14th, with Joe B. Miller, Jordon Mallett, and Sawyer Phillips completing the top ten, Friday's field included 28 drivers. The Driver's Project quick qualifier was Jace Park at 15.446-seconds. A trio of AR Dyno Specialty Heat Races went to Austin McCarl, Jack Dover, and Landon Britt. The BMRS B-Feature was topped by Gunner Ramey. One provisional was used by Michael Day. Shane Stewart was the first to do so in the series debut during the 2004 Labor Day Weekend. The late Jesse Hockett swept the tour next visit, with Jason Johnson, Sammy Swindell, Sam Hafertepe, Jr., and Dylan Westbrook the other drivers sitting at a pair of wins each. Blake Hahn and Derek Hagar were the most recent drivers to add their names to the list of winners during last year's Labor Day visit. Rolling through Longdale Speedway this past weekend, the visits in Victory Lane were split between Jason Martin and Seth Bergman, with the two-night swing ending with Bergman atop the points by six after Martin suffered a cut tire Sunday, which put him ninth in the A-Feature. Both drivers are off to an absolutely roaring start to their season; they are currently being chased by Landon Britt. Ripping to his first podium finish of the season, Matt Covington picked up two spots to fourth, with Brandon Anderson fifth. Suffering a massive crash racing for fifth on Sunday, Howard Moore will look for a rebound as he slipped to sixth. Landon Crawley is seventh, followed by Kyler Johnson, Jordon Mallett, and Michael Day. Friday, May 26, at Lakeside Speedway, opens at 6:00 P.M. with Hot Laps at 7:00 P.M. and Racing at 8:00 P.M. (CDT). Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and military, $10 for youth (12-15), and free for kids 12 and under. Pits are $40. The event is being promoted by Terry Mattox. - Seth Bergman Lands ASCS Score At Longdale Speedway
Bryan Hulbert - LONGDALE, Okla. (May 21, 2023) Marking his fourth podium finish in as many outings with the American Sprint Car Series, Sunday at Longdale Speedway was Seth Bergman's first trip to the top step with the National Tour in 2023. Pocketing $4,000 at the Walley Rodeo Roundup, the Corridor Electric/Evergreen Coffee, Co. No. 23 spent the first six revolutions battling Tennessee's Howard Moore. Gaining the momentum needed to clear the A.R. Dyno Specialty No. 3 on the seventh lap, Seth would hold the point the rest of the way for his 17th career victory. With the win, Seth now leads tour standings for the first time this season by six points over Jason Martin. "Feels good. We've been working really hard to win one of these races this year. The first weekend, we came so close, and then last night stung running second again, but hats off to Jason [Martin]; he's been the one to beat. We've been good, but starting position has hindered us a little bit, and tonight getting the front row, I wanted to make sure I made the best of it," stated Bergman. Jumping from fourth to second following a Lap 15 restart, Matt Covington landed his first podium finish of the season, with Landon Crawley crossing third for his best career finish in ASCS National competition. As high as second after starting 11th, Kyler Johnson would settle into fourth on Lap 18, while Danny Wood made the charge to fifth on Lap 23. Landon Britt was sixth, followed by Brandon Anderson. Jeremy Campbell crossed eighth. Shredding a left-rear tire on Lap 15 after running into the top five, Jason Martin was able to make it out from the work area and rally back to ninth, while Jordon Mallett, who changed an engine following Qualifying, drove through the field to complete the top ten. Sunday at the Walley Rodeo Roundup saw Whit Gastineau set the overall quick time in Qualifying at 14.942-seconds. A.R. Dyno Specialty Heat Race wins went to Howard Moore, Landon Britt, and Matt Covington. Sunday's field included 22 entries. The next outing for the American Sprint Car Series is Friday, May 26, at Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kan.), then Lake Ozark Speedway (Eldon, Mo.) on Saturday, May 27, and Sunday, May 28. The 2023 season will mark the 32nd year of competition for the American Sprint Car Series. - Mickey Walker Classic Among Updates To 2023 ASCS National Schedule
Bryan Hulbert - DRUMRIGHT, Okla. (April 24, 2023) Several events have been updated on the 2023 American Sprint Car Series National Tour lineup. Among those is the Micky Walker Classic on Friday, June 2, and Saturday, June 3. The only time in 2023 Outlaw Motor Speedway will see action, the three-eighths-mile oval located just south of Muskogee will take the Friday portion, with Saturday's action going to Caney Valley Speedway in Caney, Kan. Both nights pay $4,222 to win, $400 to start. Terry Mattox is promoting both nights. "Mickey was my best friend, and being able to race in his honor means a lot to his family and me. Kind of a wrench in the mix having to move the race, but thankfully we got something figured out this year. I understand Creek needs to fulfill their contract in rescheduling their Monster Truck show to that date. It happens, but the Mickey Walker Classic will be back at his home track next year," stated Terry. Despite being shuttered, the Outlaw Motor Speedway owners have continued maintaining the track. Putting the facility in near race-ready condition, there is a small amount of tidying up that needs to be done. "I was shocked when I saw the track graded, watered, and otherwise ready to go. Outside of some mowing and general cleanup, they've kept the facility in working order, so we will go for it and bring racing to Outlaw at least once in 2023." Able to reschedule a date at Creek County Speedway this season, the tour will invade on Thursday, June 15, for a three-night stretch that includes the series return to Humboldt Speedway on Friday, June 16, and 81 Speedway on Saturday, June 17. Each night will pay $4,000 to win, $400 to start. The Gary Scott Memorial at Moberly Motorsports Park is next on the 2023 lineup. Unfortunately, the event will now be a Saturday-only affair. Terry Mattox is currently talking to another Missouri oval to take the series to on Friday, May 12. That information will be released once finalized. Terry is also working on filling in some open dates to make up for events lost at the start of the 2023 season to weather. A reminder that single-night shows in 2023 have been raised to $4,000 to win, $400 to start. The only time a show is $3,000 to win is a preliminary night on a multi-day event at the same track. The 2023 season will mark the 32nd year of competition for the American Sprint Car Series. Spearheaded by the American Sprint Car Series National Tour, the ASCS Nation includes Regional Tours that encompass both wing and non-wing competition. - Jason Martin Tops ASCS Showdown At Boothill Speedway!
Bryan Hulbert - GREENWOOD, La. (April 22, 2023) Rolling in with a score to settle Saturday night after suffering a massive crash in 2022, Jason Martin did just that at Boothill Speedway with the American Sprint Car Series, leading start to finish at the three-eighths-mile oval for his second win in as many races. The fifth time the tour has visited Boothill Speedway, the trend of different winners continues, with Jason adding his name to the list. "We had a great race car tonight. I love this kind of track where you have to search around, and it just keeps changing throughout the race. It was fun," stated Jason. "I'm very proud of this team. We couldn't have asked for a better start to the season, and now we just have to do what we need to do to keep it going." Martin's sixth career victory with the American Sprint Car Series, the No. 36 had to fend off Seth Bergman at the start. Stalked by the No. 23 the first nine laps, Seth slipped to the show position on Lap 10 as Landon Britt worked into the runner-up spot. Working the hub of the high-banked oval, cautions offered the No. 10 a few shots at the lead, but each time it was Martin who held point. Varying his line as the track became more and more technical, the top three all raced to the white flag with the win hanging in the balance. Needing to make one last perfect lap, Jason was able to hit his marks to win by 0.588-seconds. Landon Britt held on for second over Seth Bergman, with Howard Moore winning the battle for fourth over Cody Gardner. Sixth went to Matt Covington, followed by Brandon Anderson. Louisiana's Koty Adams crossed eighth, followed by Kyler Johnson. Involved in a caution on Lap 5, Michael Day rebounded to a top-ten finish. Saturday's field broke into three AR Dyno Specialty Heat Races, with wins going to Matt Covington, Cody Gardner, and Michael Day. The KSE Hard Charger was Howard Moore. All drivers in attendance advanced to the A-Feature. Landon Britt was the overall quick qualifier and established a new track record at 12.644-seconds. The American Sprint Car Series races again at Moberly Motorsports Park in Moberly, Mo., on Saturday, May 13. The 2023 season will mark the 32nd year of competition for the American Sprint Car Series. Spearheaded by the American Sprint Car Series National Tour, the ASCS Nation includes Regional Tours that encompass both wing and non-wing competition. - It's Jason Martin At The Line With The American Sprint Car Series At Jackson Motor Speedway!
Bryan Hulbert - BYRAM, Miss. (April 20, 2023) Winner in the final race of the 2022 season to winning the 2023 season opener for the American Sprint Car Series, Thursday's showdown at Jackson Motor Speedway came down to the line for Jason Martin, who held off Seth Bergman at the by 0.049-seconds. "I'm pretty excited. That was a hell of a finish," stated Martin. "Definitely wish I was better there towards the end. That restart with fifteen to go, I already had the wing in the trunk, so I was holding on for dear life the last half of that." Fending off the last-lap charge of Seth Bergman, the No. 23 pounded the cushion at both ends of the Jackson Motor Speedway through the final six-lap run. Chasing Landon Britt for silver the first 15 laps, the No. 10 put the left-side tires to the sky momentarily and left the door open. Stalking Martin into traffic numerous times, only to have a caution clear the way for the No. 36; the final caution came on Lap 24. Rushing the top on the restart in one and two, Martin switched low in three and four. Varying his approach to the cushion, Bergman found the run with two to go. Putting the Hoosiers on the curb off the final turn, the pair shot the line in a photo finish. Landon Britt held on for third, with Howard Moore earning the KSE Hard Charger Award with an eight-spot run to fourth. Brandon Anderson completed the top five. Dale Howard, Jordon Mallett, Kyler Johnson, Matt Covington, and Chase Howard made up the top ten. The Thursday field included 21 drivers.
