- Dryden & Christie Defend Canadian Turf in GLSS Invaision of Ontario
South Buxton, ON, CAN - For the second straight year, the Great Lakes Super Sprints (GLSS) Presented by PERFIT & ARP went international with trips to Ohsweken Speedway and Buxton Speedway in Ontario, Canada. This year, however, the stakes were higher for the American teams who made the trip through customs. A full slate of Tour Points was on the line both Friday and Saturday night. Friday's event at Ohsweken Speedway was one for the memory bank with track conditions unlike anything seen at Ohsweken Speedway in at least a decade. Heavy rain throughout the week led to a rough and technical surface that played right into the hands of drivers who were able to "cowboy up" and take on the challenging surface. Darren Dryden and Liam Martin were scheduled to lead the field to the green flag, however, Dryden jumped the initial start, moving him back a row, and giving Nick Sheridan the outside front row alongside Martin. Sheridan snuck around the outside and led the opening lap before Martin put his No.9 at the point on lap two. Meanwhile, Dryden was defending his third spot from Dylan Westbrook before he took on Sheridan for the second spot when Sheridan tried to make a move for the lead for the lead. In turns one and two, Dryden put his No.12DD back out front. On lap nine, trouble struck for Liam Martin when he got bucked out of turn four and leaped over the inside wall in turn four. Martin was unable to continue. Dryden had no issue on two restarts that followed prior to the 10-lap-to-go mark. Then, with four to go, the race was stopped when Tyler Powless flipped in turn four just in front of Dryden, who was able to avoid the flipping No.77T. On the restart, Dryden drove away to collect his first career win at Ohsweken Speedway and his second ever win with GLSS. Then, on Saturday at Buxton Speedway, Ryan Turner and D.J. Christie led the field to the green flag. Christie jumped out to the early lead, leaving Turner to try and defend his second spot. Coming to complete lap two, Liam Martin and Skyler Evans got together in turns three and four, sending Evans into the spin cycle and collecting Dylan Westbrook in the process. Another restart with 20 laps to go brought the field back together just as Christie was preparing to navigate lapped traffic. The remaining 20 laps went green, forcing Christie to work his way through heavy lapped traffic while holding off Turner. The track record holder at Crystal Motor Speedway closed to within a half second in traffic, but couldn't reel in Christie in the closing laps. D.J. Chrisite held on for his first career GLSS win. The next event for the MacAllister CAT Great Lakes Super Sprints is Friday, August 29th, at Tri City Motor Speedway in Auburn, Michigan. Then, the Championship event is Sunday, August 31st, at Crystal Motor Speedway. Jared Horstman will try to hold on to the MacAllister CAT Division points lead, while Max Stambaugh hopes to steal the third piece of the GLSS trifecta while securing his fourth consecutive GLSS Tour title. Fans who can't make the trip this weekend can catch the action both Friday and Sunday on GreatLakesSprints.TV. For more on the Great Lakes Super Sprints, visit GreatLakesSprints.com. - CHRISTIE CLAIMS BUXTON SOS/GLSS WIN
MERLIN, Ont. (August 23, 2025) - DJ Christie claimed the win on Saturday night at Buxton Speedway in a co-sanctioned event with the Southern Ontario Sprints and Great Lakes Super Sprints series. Ryan Turner and DJ Christie made up the front row, and Christie led all 25 laps on the fast high-banked Chatham-Kent oval. A melee on lap two saw Dylan Westbrook, Skyler Evans, and Jared Horstman taken out of contention, although Horstman was able to stay in the race. Christie drove a flawless race in and out of heavy traffic. While he led all the laps, his advantage was never more than half a second, and was down to 0.066 seconds with two laps to go. Christie was able to lock down the win worth $2,500 USD over Ryan Turner, Liam Martin, Dustin Daggett, and Darren Dryden. Skyler Evans set a new track record in time trials with a lap of 13.114 seconds, giving the 14-year-old the Ackland Insurance Quick Time award. Jacob Dykstra won The Drivers Project Hard Charger award. Darren Dryden leads the SOS standings by just eight points over Ryan Turner with the end of the season in sight. Many other spots within the top ten are also up for grabs. The next SOS events are the Northern Sprint Car Nationals weekend at Ohsweken Speedway on September 12 and September 13, while the season will conclude with the finale of the Gold Crown Series at Merrittville on October 4. - Mann, What a Race! Jett Mann Captures First Career GLSS Win at Butler Saturday
Quincy, MI - The second night of a doubleheader weekend brought some different drivers to the table, hoping to find victory lane with the MacAllister CAT Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP. A mix of championship hopefuls and ringers looking for a win put on an intense show for fans at Butler Motor Speedway. Alongside Boston Mead, Jett Mann led the field to the green ahead of the 25-lap main event on Saturday night. Mann held off Dustin Daggett and Jared Horstman to lead the opening lap. Mead fought back into third behind Daggett putting Horstman back to fourth ahead of Chase Ridenour. The first caution flag of the night came out just four laps in when Phil Gressman spun at the bottom of turn one. On the restart, things remained relatively unchanged throughout the field until the halfway mark of the race when the leaders started working through heavy lapped traffic. On lap 15, Mann missed the bottom entering turn one, opening the door for Daggett to get to his inside. Daggett took the lead down the backstretch and now had the task of navigating lapped traffic. The pass for the lead allowed Boston Mead to work back into the conversation for the top spot. With eight laps to go, Daggett caught a piece of the tractor tire exiting the turn, which gave Mann a run going into three. Entering the turn, Daggett was taking a big arch to try to get under a lapped car, opening the door for Mann on the extreme bottom. The pair made contact and bumped side-by-side several times until the center of the corner, when Mann was able to drive away, and Daggett spun to the bottom of the track which was the preferred line. Daggett attempted to hit the spin cycle and drive out of the incident, but with heavy traffic coming into three, officials called a caution which sent the No.85 to the tail, setting up a final restart with less than 10 to go. Mann was able to hold off Mead and Jared Horstman for his first career GLSS Feature victory in just his second start since a vicious crash at I-96 Speedway in June. The next event for the Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP is Friday, August 22nd from Ohsweken Speedway in Ontario, Canada, and Saturday, August 23rd from Buxton Speedway. Fans who can't make the trip can catch the action live on www.GreatLakesSprints.TV. Max Stambaugh set the Ti22 Performance Quick Time. Max Stambaugh won Engler Machine & Tool Heat Race one. Dustin Daggett won Beacon & Bridge Market Heat Race two. Jett Mann won Miami Pain Heat Race three. - Long Haul Award Added to June 7 SOS Buxton Speedway Purse
TILBURY, Ont. (June 2, 2025) - The Southern Ontario Sprints series and Tilbury Wraps & Signage are pleased to announce a $100 Long Haul Award for the team travelling the greatest distance for Saturday's race at Buxton Speedway. "With today's high travel costs for race teams, we wanted to do what we could to help the sport," Tilbury Wraps & Signage owner Cody Bechard stated. "I'm proud to sponsor the 'Long Haul' award at Buxton Speedway. This track is where it all started for me; watching race cars here years ago is what first got me hooked, and that passion eventually turned into a career. "At Tilbury Wraps & Signage, we create custom vehicle wraps, signage, and print materials - your success, wrapped in quality. This is our way of saying thank you to all the race teams for the kilometres you travel and the hard work you put in. It means a lot to give back to the sport and the community that inspired me in the first place." "We are pleased that another local business has stepped up to support our series and its teams," noted SOS president Peter Turford. "If not for the support of some of Ontario's small businesses, we could not offer the teams the purses that we do." More information about Tilbury Wraps & Signage is available at www.tilburyws.ca A $5,000 prize awaits the winner of the inaugural SOS Gold Crown Super Series event on Saturday, June 7 at Buxton Speedway, while each A-Main starter will earn at least $500 from the $18,000 purse.
