- Cap Henry a bridesmaid no longer, takes FAST win to open Attica Ambush
ATTICA, Ohio - Cap Henry has finished second at Attica Raceway Park the last three straight races. The defending track champion was able to take the lead with just five laps to go Friday, Aug. 30 on Great Lakes Truck Centers/Murphy Tractor & Equipment Night and drove to his fourth win of the year at "Ohio's Finest Racing" speed plant to open the Attica Ambush with the Ti-22 Performance FAST On Dirt Series. The last five laps of the 40-lap, $6,000-to-win affair were chaotic to say the least. Henry took the lead from Brandon Spithaler on lap 35 right before a caution. Spithaler had taken the lead on lap seven when leader Zeth Sabo ran over a tire from a flipping Creed Kemenah. When the green flew with four laps to go Spithaler and Cale Thomas collided while battling for second, collecting Zane DeVault necessitating a fuel stop. When the green flew Henry, from Bellevue, Ohio, drove away for his 20th career 410 sprint car win at Attica. It was his sixth overall victory of 2024. Greg Wilson drove from 14th to second with Kalib Henry earning third over DJ Foos and Trey Jacobs. "Our game plan the whole time was we knew we had to be tight and be good the last 10 and not the first 10 like we have been the last four or five times. Zack (Myers, crew chief) has probably never heard me yell so much because we've lost so many. I was nervous those last four laps. My guys told me what I was doing was right. Zack tweaked on that thing during the open red and it felt pretty good. Shout out to my guys…they just kept working on it," said Henry beside his Premier Planning Services, Jeff Ward Demolition, Ohio Logistics, Primal Tee Shop, Elliott's Custom Trailers and Carts, FK Rod Ends, Griff's Engines backed #33W. For Wilson, who won last weekend with the IRA, coming from 14th starting spot, nearly repeated that at Attica. "Hate to whine…I was pissed the way the track was all night and it made a fool out of me. It slicked off so that you could move around and thank goodness my wife and my girls and Nick Daugherty worked hard and I didn't feel like it was right to give up. Can't thank Attica Raceway Park and the fans enough. This place is really cool and when you run good you know you've done something. The guys that run here have gotten really, really good over the last couple of years," said Wilson beside his Hercules Tires, Ohio Logistics, DNC Hydraulics, Heitmeyer Concrete backed #W20. California driver Kalib Henry ran among the top five the last two thirds of the feature and held on for a podium finish. "Glad to have some speed back. I want to apologized to Greg. I was racing in the rear view there quite a bit and I hopefully didn't bug him too much. I hate racing like that. I was just kind of hanging on for dear life. Jim and Rebecca back home, and Kevin for busing his tail to get another car back together after our crash at Knoxville. Want to say hi and get well to Chase Johnson back home…I don't know if he's watching this or not but my heart's out for you and I hope you get better soon," said Henry beside his Running Boxer Farms, Harris Distributing, Valvoline Oil backed #101. In the Whistle Stop Presents the Dirt Nerds Podcast Powered by Propane UMP Late Model feature, Mansfield, Ohio's Kyle Moore put on a dominating performance, leading all 25 laps and at times had over a four second lead. He would take his sixth Attica win of the year and his 18th overall victory of 2024. Doug Drown, Todd Brennan, Ryan Markham and Mike Bores rounded out the top five. "I have a lot of confidence in myself. I know what I can do. It's making everything line up and making it happen is two different things. Ty Tworg…I'm telling you right now, I don't know what these boys are waiting for but they better make a phone call to that guy and get a car. Otherwise it's going to be a long year again next year," said Moore beside his Kepling Flooring, Tye Tworg Longhorn, Joyride Transportation, Smitley Towing, Short Stop, Malcuit Race Engines, Wilson Realty, Robin Jakubick, RL Bond Septic, Hepthorn Golf Cart Sales, House of Spud, K&B Septic Service, Coffman Composites, Team Midwest Paint, Platinum Design backed #1*. Attica Raceway Park will be back in action Saturday, Aug. 31 for another $6,000 to win 410 sprint car feature with the Fremont Fence 305 Sprints going for $1,200 to win. - Sabo earns 1st 410 win of the year at Attica; Moore claims 4th straight late model victory; Sebetto gets third 305 win
ATTICA, Ohio - Zeth Sabo led wire to wire but had to withstand a big challenge from defending track champion Cap Henry late in the race to score his first 410 sprint win of the season at Attica Raceway Park Friday, Aug. 16 on F.E. Kroka & Associates/Five Star Maintenance Night. After a crash involving Tyler Street and Bryce Lucius (both were not injured) on the opening lap, the Callies Performance Products 410 Sprint 30-lap feature went caution free. Sabo, who started on the pole jumped into the lead and quickly built a sizeable advantage until hitting heavy lapped traffic just past the half-way point. Henry, who started seventh worked his way to second in the traffic and closed to within a half a second of Sabo with just six laps to go. Once clear of traffic, Sabo powered away for his second career Attica win over Henry, DJ Foos, Skylar Gee and Creed Kemenah. "The car got better the harder I drove it. I saw Cap poke his nose under me there late and I knew I had to get going. Thanks to Rich and Shelly Farmer for giving me this opportunity and Steven and all the guys who work on this thing," said Sabo beside his NAPA of Fremont, Level Utilities, Limo Scene Limo Service, Linder's Speed Equipment, Kiser Sound backed #29. Henry's second place finish brings him closer to Cale Thomas in the battle for the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group title. You didn't want to be leading and getting into lapped traffic in the Whistle Stop Presents the Dirt Nerds Podcast Powered by Propane UMP Late Model feature. Todd Brennann led the first 15 laps of the 25 lap affair before getting into a lapped car and spinning. Doug Drown lead laps 16-20 before being collected when a lapped car spun in front of him. Ryan Markham led lap 21 before Mansfield, Ohio's Kyle Moore drove into the lead on lap 22 and drove to his fourth straight win at Attica. Moore's fifth win of the season at Attica is also his 10th consecutive victory overall in 2024 when coupled with other tracks. Markham, Collin Shipley, Mike Bores and Casey Noonan would round out the top five. "WOW…this is amazing. I can't believe this. My crew, Tye Tworg for giving me this fast machine…just all the great people on this thing. I've waited forever to win here and we just can't stop winning now. I love this place. Honestly I was just riding there and I saw Brennan get tangled up and then Drown and Markham and I was like this is just meant to be. I probably wouldn't have won unless they wrecked. I'm not going to sugar coat it…we definitely had some luck tonight," said Moore beside his Kepling Flooring, Tye Tworg Longhorn, Joyride Transportation, Smitley Towing, Short Stop, Malcuit Race Engines, Wilson Realty agent Robin Jakubick, RL Bond Septic, Hepthorn Golf Cart Sales, House of Spud, K&B Septic Service, Coffman Composites, Team Midwest Paint, Platinum Design backed #1*. Last season's rookie of the year Blayne Keckler jumped into the early lead of the Fremont Fence 305 Sprint A-main before Bryan Sebetto took the point on lap seven. Sebetto sliced through traffic as ninth starter Dustin Stroup slie into second with just six laps to go. The only caution of the 25-lap race came after the white flag, setting up a one-lap shoot-out for the win. Sebetto hit his marks perfectly to score his third win of the year at Attica over Stroup, Keckler, Jimmy McGrath and Dustin Dinan. The victory is Sebetto's 16th career win in the 305 division at Attica, tying him with Joe Keegan for eighth on the track's all-time win list for the 305 sprints. It is also Sebetto's seventh overall victory of 2024. "I was pissed when that caution came out but it's a part of racing. I knew I just had to hit my marks for one more lap and I knew I had a clear track and wouldn't have to battle with anyone. I was able to move around in lapped traffic early and I knew I could pretty much run where ever I wanted. It's a testament to how good this car is," said Sebetto beside his : Sandusky Bay Remodeling, JLH General Contractor, Sandusky Bay RV Rentals, KH Suspension, Commercial Glazing Systems, Overwatch Precision, RCF Chassis, Level Performance, Race Ready Apparrel, NAPA of Fremont, Clay Keim, Depot Pizza, CA Kustoms backed #01. Stroup's second place finish will also pull him closer to Jamie Miller in the battle for the NAPA of Bryan Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales title. - Sabo earns 1st 410 win of the year at Attica
Zeth Sabo led wire to wire but had to withstand a big challenge from defending track champion Cap Henry late in the race to score his first 410 sprint win of the season at Attica Raceway Park Friday, Aug. 16 on F.E. Kroka & Associates/Five Star Maintenance Night.
- Kalib Henry wins nail-biter for 1st Attica 410 win; Moore nips Bores for 3rd straight late model victory; Miller nurses engine to 6th 305 win
ATTICA, Ohio - Sacramento, California's Kalib Henry out-dueled Cap Henry to score his first 410 sprint win at Attica Raceway Park on Ohio Truck sales/Adkins Group Night, Friday, July 26. Henry, who started sixth in the 30-lap A-main, took the lead from the defending track champion on lap seven and held off several challenges from Cap Henry to score the win. "Boss man and everybody back home are super happy. I can't thank Doc and Rebecca enough for the opportunity they've given me. Nate for cheering us along back home and all my family that's back home…going to see you guys in two weeks. Hats off to Kevin. He gave us a hell of a race car. I really didn't know where to be out front in lapped traffic. I give credit where credit is due. Cap raced me hard, he raced me clean. We struggled here quite a bit. Drew the six and didn't know what to expect the way the track was. I knew when Cap struck his nose in there I had to turn it up and move around and see what I could do," said Henry beside his Running Boxer Farms, Harris Distributing Company, Valvoline, K1, Berryman Racing Shocks, Chalkstix backed #101. The victory in the Callie's Performance Products 410 A-main is the third of the year for Kalib Henry, adding to a pair of victories at Fremont Speedway. For Cap Henry it was a good point night in his quest to earn another Attica track title and a second straight All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by the Baumann Auto Group title. AFCS and Attica point leader Cale Thomas finished fourth behind DJ Foos while TJ Michael rounded out the top five. While the scorecard will show Mansfield, Ohio's Kyle Moore lead all 25 laps of the Whistle Stop Presents the Dirt Nerd Podcast Powered by Propane UMP Late Model Feature, it was not nearly that easy. Mike Bores came on strong and challenged Moore lap after lap but Moore hit his marks and drove to his third straight feature win at Attica over Bores, Rusty Schlenk, Casey Noonan and Devin Shiels. It's Moore's fourth career win at Attica…all of them coming this season. In fact, since the opening two weeks of the season, Moore has not finished out of the top three to lead the track's point standings. "They say the first win is the hardest to get and it was. Last year I probably should have had one or two of them and got passed in the last corner. This is a dream," said Moore beside his Kepling Flooring, Tye Tworg Longhorn, Joyride Transportation, Smitley Towing, Short Stop, Malcuit Race Engines, Wilson Realty, Robin Jakubick, RL Bond Septic, Hepthorn Golf Cart Sales, House of Spud, K&B Septic Service, Coffman Composites, Team Midwest Paint, Platinum Design backed #1*. Fremont, Ohio's Jamie Miller knew his engine was hurt in his 305 sprint car after his heat race. A call to his engine builder - who told him to put block sealer in it and pray - didn't ease his mind any. However, the four time and defending Attica track champion was able to nurse his car home for his sixth win of the year at the track. Of the 12 features at Attica in 2024, Miller has only finished out of the top five in one event, a 17th place finish on the second night of the year. Jimmy McGrath led the opening lap of the Fremont Fence 305 Sprints feature before Miller took over. Despite several cautions Miller was able to drive to his 45th career win at Attica over Bryan Sebetto, Dustin Stroup, McGrath and Logan Riel. The win also pads Miller's lead in the NAPA of Bryan Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales points as he looks for his first title in the series. "We knew we had a problem after the heat. The oil pan was full of water. We called Scott Gressman and he told us to put block sealer in it and heat it up. It got up to 270 degrees in the feature…I don't know how it made it," said Miller beside his Boca Construction, JLH General Contractors, Kenny Kelb Farms, Tuck Pointing America, Queen of Clean, Smitty's Pizza, Roberts & Sons Contracting, Pizza Wheel, Crown Battery, Reedtown Tavern, Fostoria Mod Shop, Sandy's Dad, Gressman Powersports, Phil Rister, Slade Shock Technology backed #26. Attica Raceway Park will take a couple of weeks off for the Attica Independent Fair before returning Friday, Aug. 16 with the AFCS 410 and 305 sprints and UMP late models in action. - Big Game Motorsports and Gravel Capture Brad Doty Classic, Joker’s Jackpot and Kings Royal During Extraordinary Week in Ohio
Gravel recorded World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series triumphs during the $15,000-to-win Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic on Tuesday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, and the $175,000-to-win Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway on Saturday.
- Gravel comes on strong to get 2nd Brad Doty Classic win at Attica
ATTICA, Ohio - David Gravel searched all over the one-third clay mile of Attica Raceway Park Tuesday, July 16 during the 36th running of the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic presented by dac Pet Products. When he found his lane and his rhythm, he took the lead on lap 17 and drove away for the $15,000 pay day, his 10th World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink victory of 2024. The win was the Watertown, Connecticut native's second Brad Doty Classic win and third career win at Attica. "I was just bidding my time. Carson (Macedo) was racing pretty defensive. I think he knew he was in trouble of getting passed. I was running a lot of different lines just trying to figure out what the best line was before I could get the lead. You're just guessing out there…all these cautions…I don't know how many cautions there were but there were way too many. It was hard to get into a rhythm and you had no one to base it off of with lapped traffic so it was really hard to know where to be in one and two. Every other lap I tried a different lane and the car started getting free and it just kept getting slicker and slicker every lap…40 laps here the track changes so much. Cody (Jacobs, crew chief) gave me a really good card…something I didn't have to push too hard and I could run my own race. I'm happy to get a Brad Doty Classic for Cody because I stole one from him when I was in the CJB car and he working for Tim Shaffer. Steven and Zack worked real hard in the heat," said Gravel beside his Huset's Speedway/Billion Auto.com/Jackson Motorplex/High Performance Lubricants/JRC backed #2. The early portions of the 40-lap feature saw several cautions. Carson Macedo led laps 1-7 before three time Doty Classic winner Kyle Larson took the lead on lap eight only to see Macedo regain the top spot a circuit later. Gravel, who started third, drove into the lead on lap 17. Gravel built a nearly three second lead when the caution flew on lap 26. The race for second had been fantastic involving Macedo, Logan Schuchart and Larson. Following a fuel stop, Gravel continued to lead while 11th starter Donny Schatz with a bent up front wing, charged into second while Larson, Macedo, Cory Day and Giovanni Scelzi battled hard for third. With five laps to go Gravel had caught the back of the pack and Schatz closed in but ran out of time as Gravel took the checkers. Schatz, Larson, Macedo and Day rounded out the top five. Schatz, a 10 time World of Outlaws champion, "I'm surprised we didn't change the nose wing but that's not my call. It really didn't effect it like everyone thinks. We're not on the gas that hard here and there are parts of the race track where it would help. Ultimately I think I would have liked to have had it there to see what would have happened but all and all a good effort. The guys got things rolling and working and this is the type of race tracks you have in the summer. Everyone is digging," said Schatz beside his CarQuest/Ford Performance/Curb/Sage Fruit/Elliott's Custom Trailers & Carts backed #15. Larson had one bobble on a restart and he felt that may have cost him a shot at his fourth Brad Doty Classic win. "I wish I could have that last restart back. I knew all I could do was blitz the top. Gravel was really good. I got my right rear hung off the ledge and fell back to fourth and battled Carson and Cory to get back to third. I was hoping for another caution to reset. My car felt pretty good early but got kind of off in the middle but got better later but messed up that restart," said Larson of his Findley Farms/Folkens Bros. Trucking/FloRacing/JVI Group/Glenn Styres Racing backed #57. Attica Raceway Park will be back in action Friday, July 26 with the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by the Baumann Auto Group, the NAPA of Bryan AFCS presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales 305 sprints and the Attica/Oakshade UMP Late Model Challenge Series in action. - Brubaker breaks through for 1st 410 win of year at Fremont; Stroup dominates 305s; Valenti tames trucks
FREMONT, Ohio - There were times during the 2024 racing season that Stuart Brubaker probably thought about quitting as his family-owned 410 sprint team struggled with performance and crashes, switching chassis and set-ups trying to find speed. But, the veteran didn't give up and it finally paid off at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction Saturday, July 6 in thrilling fashion on Roots Poultry Night. A three-time Fremont Speedway 305 track champion, Brubaker, from Helena, Ohio, watched an over four second lead evaporate as he struggled with lapped traffic late in the caution-free 30-lap Fort Ball Pizza Palace 410 Sprint feature. Brubaker held off a charging Cap Henry to score his first win of the season by just .196 seconds. DJ Foos, Larry Kingseed and Mike Keegan rounded out the top five. It was Brubaker's 9th career victory at "The Track That Action Built." "I was a little bit faster than the lapped cars but if I moved off the bottom then I opened a lane for him (Henry) and them guys ain't afraid of crashing. To say we've struggled this year is a huge understatement. We've tried different cars… we changed everything and this car is the one we started the year with. It's my guys, Bill and Brad and Ron…they never gave up. They have been busting their asses all year trying to get me better," said Brubaker beside his Pit Stop, Black Swamp H&C, Story Equipment, Josh Kromer's Seamless Gutters, Finish Line Race Fuels, Gressman Powersports backed #35. With his second place finish Henry, the 2023 All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by the Baumann Auto Group champion, closes the gap on Cale Thomas and Zeth Sabo who entered the night one and two in the series' standings as Thomas finished 10th and Sabo 13th at Fremont. Just like Brubaker, Fremont, Ohio's Dustin Stroup has struggled at Fremont Speedway in 2024. A night after his car suffered a rear end issue at Attica Raceway Park, Stroup was able to dominate the Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprint feature that saw only one caution flag for his first win of 2024 at the track. Stroup's 10th career victory at Fremont came in dominating fashion as he won by six seconds over Jamie Miller, Tyler Schiets, Zack Kramer and Kasey Ziebold. "Last night we blew a rear-end up at Attica so Dad and I stayed up late and got it all changed and Jamie and the guys came over and we got it all squared away. I felt really good but not six seconds good…that's awesome. I gotta thank everyone on this thing…Jamie and Renee for letting me drive their car. My mom and dad and my girlfriend Katie and my daughter Layla, Tracey…everybody that helps out," said Stroup beside his Sulfur Town Pub, BSE Welding, Meru Safety, Velocity Print, The Pizza House, Sunrise Designs, Momma Dukes from Shelluke's Bar and Grill, GCE LLC, Handy Grafix, Mitten Painting, Myers Racing Engines, Rohr Total Lawn Care, Eye Candy Custom Cycles, DJ Johnson & Family, GWH, Advance Auto Parts, BRS, J&J Auto backed #12x. Miller's second place run will keep him atop the NAPA of Bryan Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales standings though Stroup's win will narrow that gap. Despite a lot of cautions, the 20-lap Burmeister Trophy Dirt Truck feature was very entertaining up front. Dustin Keegan led the first two laps before Steve Miller took the lead for four circuits. Keith Sorg drove into the top spot on lap seven before surrendering it to Shawn Valenti on lap 12. Sorg inched back ahead for lap 14 before Valenti regained the lead on lap 15. Valenti ran the top shelf while Sorg hugged the bottom and pair raced side by side the last five laps and coming to the checkers Valenti edged Sorg by .083 seconds for his third win at Fremont in 2024 with Dan Hennig, Keegan and Kent Brewer rounding out the top five. Valenti's third straight truck win is the 77th of his career at Fremont and puts him in second on the all-time win list, surpassing hall of famer the late Art Ball and just three behind Paul Weaver. "I grew up watching Art Ball and got to race with him with him quite a bit and I think his last win…he got me on that one. To surpass him…hats off to his career. It's amazing to be up here with that many wins. Hats off to Babcock and all my guys on this brand new truck…the thing is amazing. I wasn't sure if I should leave the top on either end and obviously I shouldn't have…he (Sorg) drove it in there pretty hard on the last lap," said Valenti beside his Craig Miller Trucking, Conrad Transportation, Dave Story Equipment, A Plus Auto Center, Concrete Material Supply, S&S Hauling and Excavating backed #7B. About Root's Poultry - https://www.rootspoultry.com Wayne Root was stringing phone lines when the Great Depression hit. To support his family, Root began buying produce and other foods from local farmers and taking them to market in the Cleveland area. In Cleveland, he would purchase products to bring back and sell to the farmers. At some point Wayne started raising his own chickens to butcher and take to market and that evolved into a chicken processing facility. The facility where Roots Poultry is located today near Fremont opened in early 1956. It still had an area in the back where chickens were brought in, a processing area in the middle and, in the front, a retail store. Due to a change in federal law, Wayne quit raising and dressing his own chickens and Roots became a processor. Later, Wayne's grandchildren Mark and Mike Damschroder were working in the business and in 1985 bought it from their grandmother. The company had evolved to the point that it was producing ready-to-eat chicken products. Shredded chicken became the company's bread-and-butter product, but later the company added barbeque pork and other pork and beef products under the Daisyfield brand. Today Roots produces over two dozen products and all can be found in the freezer section at area retail stores. - Thomas gets 3rd 410 win at Attica; Moore earns third late model victory; Sebetto drives to 2nd 305 win at Attica
ATTICA, Ohio - Cale Thomas took the lead with only five laps to go in the 410 sprint feature Friday, July 5 at Attica Raceway Park and drove to his third win of the year at the track on Heidelberg Materials/Sutton Bank Fan Appreciation Night. Thomas, from Fairland, Indiana, now has five total wins in 2024. Attica's point leader increases his advantage in the points with the All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by the Baumann Auto Group. Thomas' win aboard the Jay Kiser Racing #23 is his sixth podium run of the year at Attica Raceway Park. He now has five career victories at "Ohio's Finest Racing" speed plant. Darin Naida led the opening lap of the Callie's Performance Products 410 Sprint A-main but third starter Zeth Sabo bolted into the top spot a lap later. Sabo built up a 1.5 second lead by the half-way point with Naida, Thomas, Cap Henry and Kalib Henry in tow. With 9 laps to go Thomas disposed of Naida and began closing on Sabo, driving into the lead on lap 25. While Thomas pulled away, the action for second was wild involving Naida, Sabo, Cap Henry and Kalib Henry. At the checkers behind Thomas, Sabo, Cap Henry, Kalib Henry and Naida rounded out the top five. "I was struggling there at the beginning. The motor was 140 degrees…we had a problem with our engine heater before we went out. These things don't like being cold and it kind of made it a hand full even when I got myself situated and the motor was good I couldn't keep the front end down on this thing. Once we got the fuel load off a little bit and got closer to dirty air and I seemed to stay about the same speed when it slowed those other guys down," said Thomas beside his Spanky's Pizza, Shelluke's Bar & Grill, Automatic Fire Protection, Ohio Refrigeration, Ohio Heating, Engler Machine, BH 41, TMH Holdings, Berryman Racing Shocks, Keizer Wheels backed machine. Colin Shipley led the first 15 laps of the Whistle Stop Presents the Dirt Nerds Podcast Powered by Propane UMP Late Model A-main before Kyle Moore drove around the high side to take the point and drive away for his second straight win at Attica. It's Moore's third victory of 2024 at Attica and an incredible eighth straight podium finish at the track. Shipley, JR Gentry, Devin Shiels and Ryan Markham rounded out the top five. "I was watching Colin but there wasn't too much I could do…he was letting it hang out getting in and I couldn't diamond it off in one and two. I followed him and he left a lot of room getting into turn four. I got a run and it was like here it is. We took the point lead and we got another win and this is awesome," said Moore beside his Kepling Flooring, Tye Tworg Longhorn, Joyride Transportation, Smitley Towing, Short Stop, Malcuit Race Engines, Wilson Realty, Robin Jakubick, RL Bond Septic, Hepthorn Golf Cart Sales, House of Spud, K&B Septic Service, Coffman Composites, Team Midwest Paint, Platinum Design backed #1* Steve Rando led the first lap of the Fremont Fence 305 Sprints A-main before five time track champion Jamie Miller drove to the lead. Miller built up a nearly three second lead but while slicing through lapped traffic with 10 laps to go, a pair spun, collecting Miller. Rando led on the restart but eighth starter Bryan Sebetto drove under him and took the top spot on lap 17. Sebetto drove away to his second win of the season at Attica and his 16th career victory in the division at the track. It was also Sebetto's fifth overall victory of 2024. Rando, Logan Riehl, Brenden Torok and Miller, who drove from the tail after his mid race mishap, rounded out the top five. Miller's efforts ensure he will remain atop the NAPA of Bryan Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales standings. "We got off of what we were doing at the beginning of the year there for a little stretch just trying to get better and we were actually getting worse. We went back to what we know and what was working. Guy and Chase and Kevin have this car so good and so driveable right now. We're at a point where we are just fine tuning here and there. Doug Berryman built us a new left rear shock to try tonight and it was really good," said Sebetto beside his Sandusky Bay Remodeling, JLH General Contractor, Sandusky Bay RV Rentals, KH Suspension, Race Ready Apparrel, NAPA of Fremont, Clay Keim, Depot Pizza, CA Kustoms, Level Performance backed #01. - Thomas gets 3rd 410 win at Attica
Cale Thomas took the lead with only five laps to go in the 410 sprint feature Friday, July 5 at Attica Raceway Park and drove to his third win of the year at the track on Heidelberg Materials/Sutton Bank Fan Appreciation Night.
- Lucius earns 2nd 410 Attica win; Moore dominates late model feature; Miller nabs 5th 305 win
ATTICA, Ohio - Bryce Lucius just had to settle down and let the car come to him Friday, June 28 at Attica Raceway Park. The 17-year-old Findlay, Ohio driver battled with a couple of other racers early and withstood challenges late to score his second Attica win of the season on Smith Family Foods/Columbus Equipment/Etna Supply Night. Jordan Ryan led the opening lap of the Callie's Performance Products 410 Sprint A-main with pressure from Lucius and Zeth Sabo. Lucius took over the point on lap two but had Sabo racing to his inside lap after lap before Cale Thomas entered the picture and took second on lap seven. Thomas poked his nose under Lucius several times but could not get clear to take the lead. Lucius, the 2023 national 410 rookie of the year, worked lapped traffic like a seasoned veteran and drove to the win over Thomas, Sabo, Cap Henry and Greg Wilson. "My dad, Swank (Tyler), Drew and my mom had me good. Luckily we were able to start on the pole. I'm glad Zeth (Sabo) didn't take me out…I was out of control those first couple of laps. I had to get the wing back and everything. Me and Cale (Thomas) race each other pretty good…I knew I'd be good racing with him for the win," said Lucius beside his X1 Race Cars, CML Transport, Kistler Engines, Big Red Truck Wash, STP Racing, Bobby Clark Racing, Shelluke's Bar & Grill, Fremont Floor Covering, S&B Concrete & Excavating, Foster Auto Body, NAPA of Bryan, 87 Speed backed #32. Mansfield, Ohio's Kyle Moore seemed comfortable to cruise around the top five early in the 25-lap Whistle Stop Presents the Dirt Nerds Podcast Powered by Propane UMP Late Model feature. Mike Bores led the opening lap with JR Gentry taking over a lap later and pulled out to a substantial lead while Bores, Moore and Devin Shiels battled for second. When Gentry hit lapped traffic just past halfway, Moore shot to the high side of the track and closed, driving by Gentry on lap 16. Moore cruised to his second career Attica win over Gentry, Shiels, Bores and Colin Shipley. "I wasn't sure what the hell I was doing early in that race. I was like well I'm going to the top because this ain't working. That track was hands down the best track I've ever been on. I have to thank my brother….man he's been grinding from day one with me and Tye Tworg for giving me this hot rod. Hands down the best race car I've ever drove. My buddy Ben from Ankeny, Iowa. He helps us out a lot…crazy how we met but he helps a lot," said Moore beside his Kepling Flooring, Tye Tworg Longhorn, Joyride Transportation, Smitley Towing, Short Stop, Malcuit Race Engines, Wilson Realty, Robin Jakubick, RL Bond Septic, Hepthorn Golf Cart Sales, House of Spud, K&B Septic Service, Coffman Composites, Team Midwest Paint, Platinum Design backed #1*. Fremont, Ohio's Jamie Miller is having a fantastic season. The four time and defending Attica 305 track champion led all 25 laps Friday to score fifth win of the year - the 44th of his career - at Attica Raceway Park. Coupled with his three wins at Fremont Speedway, Miller has eight total feature wins in 2024. Following Miller to the checkers were Dustin Stroup, Brenden Torok, Jimmy McGrath and Steve Rando. "Riehl Custom Fabrication Chassis are bad ass. If you aren't in one you're following one. This thing was good and I think I'm finally figuring out how to run the bottom," said Miller beside his Boca Construction, JLH General Contractors, Kenny Kolb Farms, Tuck Pointing America, Queen of Clean, Smitty's Pizza, Roberts & Sons Contracting, Pizza Wheel, Crown Battery, Reedtown Tavern, Fostoria Mod Shop, Sandy's Dad, Gressman Powersports, Phil Rister, Slade Shock Technology backed #26. - Henry keeps speedweek momentum rolling with third Attica win; Schlenk drives to 5th late model victory; Miller gets 5th 305 win
ATTICA, Ohio - Cap Henry kept his momentum rolling from his Ohio Sprint Speedweek championship, taking his third 410 win of the year Friday, June 21 at Attica Raceway Park on Croghan Colonial Bank/CamTech Industrial Services/Ferguson Waterworks Night, and earning $4,000. Henry's 5th total win of 2024 also puts him back into contention to defend his Attica track championship and his All Pro Aluminum Cylinder Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by the Baumann Auto Group title. Henry now holds 19 career 410 wins at "Ohio's Finest Racing" speed plant. Stuart Brubaker jumped into the early lead of the 30-lap sprint feature with second starter Henry battling Trey Jacobs for second. Henry threw a slider on Brubaker in turns one and two on lap nine to take the lead with Jacobs driving into second two laps later. By the half-way point Jacobs had reeled Henry in and began pressuring for the lead. Disaster struck for Jacobs a lap later when he slid off the high side of turn four. On the restart Kasey Jedrzejek and Cale Thomas began pressuring Henry for the top spot. Following a caution on lap 20, Thomas bolted into second and battled the next hand full of laps with Henry, racing side by side for the lead. A bobble allowed Jedrzejek to move back into second on lap 27 but Henry had pulled away and drove to the win. Jedrzejek, Thomas, Tyler Street - who ran fourth the entire feature - and Zeth Sabo rounded out the top five. "Thank goodness guys kept showing me where I needed to run. I tried the top and Trey and Cale showed me the bottom was working. I've said it last week but my guys, Zack, Jeff, Chris, Chad, Gary have been working their tails off and it shows," said Henry beside his Premier Planning Service, Jeff Ward Demolition, Ohio Logistics, Primal Tee Shop, Elliott's Custom Trailers and Carts, FK Rod Ends, Griff's Engines backed #33W. Mike Bores led the first 14 laps of the 25-lap The Whistle Stop presents the Dirt Nerds Podcast Powered by Propane UMP Late Model feature before McClure, Ohio's Rusty Schlenk drove into the lead following a very spirited battle with Casey Noonan, Kyle Moore and Devin Shiels. Schlenk pulled away for his fifth win of the season and the 43rd of his career at Attica. Bores, Moore, Noonan and Shiels rounded out the top five. "The car got hot…it was about 260 there the last few laps and just kept climbing and climbing. Thank goodness we got into the lead so I could run in clean air and run around half throttle the last five laps. If I would have had to run wide open much more it would have blown up. This car has been awesome this crew has been awesome. I can't say enough about my car owner Tyler Borck…he keeps this thing in tip top shape every week for me. That lets me concentrate on my kids and customers and stuff and he keeps this thing on point for me. We were a little off tonight…early in the night in our heat race. We put our heads together and got it tuned in for the feature," said Schlenk beside his Buckeye Concrete Coatings, Terry Henricks Auto Group, Velocita USA, Dominator Race Products, Tom Finch Auto, Domination Race Cars, All Star Performance backed #91. Defending Attica Fremont Fence 305 Sprints champion Jamie Miller continued his dominance Friday, taking the lead from Jimmy McGrath on lap 10 and driving away to his fifth win of the year and 43rd of his career at the track. Miller's win will also pad his lead in the NAPA of Bryan Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by Jason Dietsch Trailer Sales. Behind Miller at the checkers were McGrath, Dustin Stroup, Steve Rando and Logan Riehl. "The car really came on strong the last half of the race. I could move around to get by lapped traffic," said Miller beside his Boca Construction, JLH General Contractors, Kenny Kolb Farms, Tuck Pointing America, Queen of Clean, Smitty's Pizza, Roberts & Sons Contracting, Pizza Wheel, Crown Battery, Reedtown Tavern, Fostoria Mod Shop, Sandy's Dad, Gressman Powersports, Phil Rister, Slade Shock Technology backed #26. - A HUGE $62,000 WINNERS CHECK ON THE LINE AT THE JIM RAPER MEMORIAL SUPER DIRT CUP
Alger, Washington- The time is near as the 900+ horsepower pilots of the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series gear up to take on their biggest paying weekend of the 2024 season at Skagit Speedway for three nights of action at the Jim Raper Memorial Super Dirt Cup. It kicks off on Thursday, June 20th, and wraps up on Saturday, June 22nd, as the Skagit Valley will roar with nonstop thrills and heart-stopping clay-shredding action on the historic 3/10-mile clay oval. "Skagit seems to suit my style, and I like the racetrack, so I'm looking forward to getting back," commented the defending champion of the race Justin Sanders. "To win the Dirt Cup, it's all about putting yourself in the right position in the prelim night and qualifying good and passing a lot of cars, you to be 110% every time you hit the racetrack. We'll be looking to do that and make it two in a row." Car counts are expected to be in the 45-plus range as teams from all over the Western United States and Canada converge on the Alger 3/10-mile clay oval. Thursday and Friday are reserved for preliminary nights to help determine who gets locked into the big dance on Saturday. The Northwest Focus Midget Series will be the companion division for the entire weekend. On Wednesday morning (6/19), there will be a Super Dirt Cup Scramble Golf Tournament at Avalon Links Golf Club in Burlington, benefiting the NARC Benevolent Fund and Rayce Rudeen Foundation. Later that night, Railroad Pub and Pizza will host a pre-race party from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Saturday morning (6/22), there will be a Fan Fest at the track featuring cars, a live band, food, and more from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The Format The two preliminary nights will emphasize lineup inversions, and accumulated points will establish the final Saturday night lineups. Thursday will be a 30-lap feature, while Friday is a 35-lap contest. On Thursday and Friday, points will be immediately earned in qualifying. The Fast Qualifier will earn 200 points with a two-point drop for each subsequent position. The heat races will be lined up with an eight-car inversion. The heat races will award 100 points to the winner, with a three-point drop for each subsequent position. The Top 20 in points after qualifying and heat races will be locked into the prelim features. Those outside the Top 20 will be positioned in the C-main and B-main, with the C sending the Top 4 finishers to the B and the B sending its Top 4 finishers to the feature. The Thursday feature will invert the Top 16 in points while Friday will be the Top 18. The feature winner will earn 200 points with a two-point drop for each subsequent position. The first criteria tiebreaker is the best finish in the respective main event, the second is rank in qualifying, and the third is the time of the second qualifying lap. Other tiebreaker criteria may be implemented if needed. A perfect score on a preliminary night is 500 points! The Top 18 in overall accumulated points from Thursday and Friday will be locked into Saturday's feature. The Top four of those 18 are locked into the Pole Shuffle, while four more drivers will get in the race by winning a qualifying heat. The finish of the Pole Shuffle will set the first four rows of Saturday's feature. The B-main will line up straight up on points and transfer the Top 4 finishers to the feature. Two cars will be added to the finale via a fan's and promoter's choices, totaling 26 cars. Money, Money, And More Money On top of paying a whopping $62,000 to win, drivers will have plenty of other ways to earn stout paydays. The runner-up will collect $26,000, while the third and fourth get paid $18,000 and $11,000, respectively. Fifth place pays $6,000, and simply making Saturday's main event will be worth $3,000. Courtesy of generous supporters, each lap in Saturday's 40-lap main event will award an extra $1,000, paid out $500-$300-$200 to the top three cars on every lap. Winning a prelim night will be no small payday, as Thursday and Friday pay $5,000 to win. Who To Watch Not only does Sanders return as the reigning Dirt Cup champion, but the Aromas ace has also been one of the toughest to beat on the NARC 410 Sprint Series roster. Dialing in a new chassis with their engine package has paid big dividends, as he has been lights out fast at many shows this year. Zeb Wise is undoubtedly hoping to park the famed Rudeen Racing #26 in victory lane on the last night of action. The Angola, Indiana native threatened eventual winner Sanders during the grand finale. It would no doubt be a massive win for the young man's career. Trey Starks is undoubtedly one of the local favorites for Dirt Cup yet again. Hailing from Puyallup, Washington, the two-time defending 410 champion has managed to win three out of five features at Skagit and has yet to finish outside the Top 5 at the facility this year. Last year's polesitter, Dominic Scelzi, is hungry to add a 410 Dirt Cup to his resume. The Fresno racer and two-time NARC champion has a lot of laps at Skagit, including some this year when he made a rare cameo on June 8th during a local 410 show. Fresno's Corey Day will look to finish what he started last year, winning the Dirt Cup for the Jason Meyers Racing team. The 2023 NARC champion, who also races full-time with the High Limit Series, won both prelim nights and almost pulled off the rare feat of sweeping the entire three-weekend weekend. The last driver to win all three nights of the Dirt Cup was Brent Kaeding in 1996. Jason Solwold is another top choice. The Burlington, Washington veteran has a lot of experience at Skagit and will hope to finally get a 410 Dirt Cup trophy to rack for himself and Shaylen Raye Motorsports car owner Mike Anderson. Cole Macedo's 2024 season has been impressive. Not only did he win the first two rounds of the NARC 410 Sprint Series, but the Lemoore, California pilot has also spent a lot of time in the Midwest with the High Limit Series and the World of Outlaws. He claimed the Fastest Five Days in Motorsports title last week. Leduc, Alberta driver Skylar Gee will be back home at a place where he and his father, Tim, have spent a lot of time. Spending the last few years living in the Midwest, Gee was very impressive last season at Attica Raceway Park and Fremont Speedway in Northwest Ohio. Robbie Price is another notable to be on the lookout for. The Cobble Hill, British Columbia native, racing for Rob and Lee Leighton, has had some great runs at Skagit in 2024 and is second in the 410 points. He captured his first ever NARC-sanctioned feature at Willamette Speedway on Saturday. Tanner Holmes will be among the young drivers to watch for the weekend. Making the journey from Jacksonville, Oregon, Holmes was the runner-up in the Friday prelim and never finished outside of the top five finishes all three nights. Colby Thornhill is a name on the rise regarding 410 racing in the Pacific Northwest. The Enumclaw, Washington teenager scored an incredible win at Skagit this season and is third in the 410 points table. Other California NARC regulars expected to be on hand are Campbell's Bud Kaeding, Fremont driver Shane Golobic, Justyn Cox from Roseville, Lincoln's Tanner Carrick, Chase Johnson of Penngrove, Billy Aton representing Benicia, Oakley Teenager Dylan Bloomfield, and Tucson, Arizona transplant Nick Parker. A collection of NARC rookie drivers are also in the mix including Fresno's Caeden Steele, Lemoore's Gauge Garcia, and Dominic Gorden from Clovis. Other Pacific Northwest drivers to be on the lookout for will be Mill Creek's Cam Smith, Burlington natives Justin Youngquist and Greg Hamilton, Jesse Schlotfeldt of Arlington, and Whannock, British Columbia's Luke Didiuk. Harrisburg's Tyler Thompson and Kinzer Cox of Creswell will also represent Oregon. Australia will be represented in the field with Jessie Attard of Penrith, New South Wales. - Sams puts exclamation point on Ohio Sprint Speedweek with $10k Atomic win
CHILLICOTHE, Oh. - Danny Sams III put a huge exclamation point on his 42nd Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek ending, leading all 35 laps for a $10,000 pay day at Atomic Speedway Saturday, the biggest win of his young racing career. It was Sam's third win during the nine straight nights of racing across the Buckeye State under the Ti-22 Performance FAST On Dirt banner, having also posted wins at Hilltop Speedway and Muskingum County Speedway earlier. "WOW to say the least. We came into this week just hoping we would make it to every night. My parents and I worked so hard this week and…wow, what a reward. I'm not sure what I think but WOW! This is everything and more we could ask for. This car has ran so good all week. I'm so blessed to be in this position and have an amazing car owner like Rocky. Thank you to everyone that makes this possible and all glory to God," said Sams beside his RV Locks & More. Dirt Crowd.com, Schaeffer's Oil, Shop D3.com #24D. While Sams, from North Port, Fla., celebrated the victory, Republic, Ohio's Cap Henry scored another podium finish, right behind Sams, "to lock up the 2024 Ohio Sprint Speedweek championship. Henry only finished out of the top five once in the eight contested A-mains during speedweek, a 17th place run Monday at Wayne County Speedway after being involved in an incident during his heat race. He scored wins at Attica Raceway Park to open speedweek, and another to re-open Millstream Speedway Friday. "Our nose wing fell down there so we had nothing for Danny. He's been fast all week. I'm happy with what we accomplished to pull off the Ohio Speedweek championship…it's something I always wanted to do. I'm just super happy for Zack and Jeff and Gary and Chris and Chad…everyone involved in this deal…Erin and Dana. It means a lot to do this. I know it's not the All Star deal any more but it's still means something to win an Ohio Speedweek championship," said Henry of his Premier Planning Service, Jeff Ward Demolition, Ohio Logistics, Primal Tee Shop, Elliott's Custom Trailers and Carts, FK Rod Ends, Griff's Engines; At the drop of the green Sams, who set fast time during qualifications - the fourth time he accomplished that during the week - bolted into the lead with Henry, Cole Duncan and Skylar Gee in tow. Two quick cautions on laps three and four kept the field close, but once the green flew the race settled into a long green flag run. Sams built up a huge lead before hitting lapped traffic on lap 12 of the 35-lap affair. Henry closed slightly while a tremendous battle ensued for third involving Duncan, Gee and a charging Greg Wilson. At the half-way point Henry was right on the rear bumper of Sams who was having issues with a pair of lapped cars racing side by side right in front of him. Sams executed a great move on lap 29 to finally get by the two lapped cars and pulled away until the final caution flew on lap 31. Sams blasted the top side of Atomic on the restart and pulled away for the win over Henry, Gee, Wilson (from 11th) and Duncan. The Ti-22 Performance FAST On Dirt Series thanks all the tracks and their staff, the race teams and fans for their tremendous support for a very successful 42nd Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek. - Henry scores 2nd Ohio Speedweek win at grand reopening of Millstream
FINDLAY, Ohio - Consistency wins championships and Cap Henry is demonstrating that adage perfectly during the 42nd Annual Ohio Sprint Speedweek with the Ti-22 Performance FAST On Dirt Series. The Bellevue, Ohio driver scored his second win of speedweek Friday at the grand re-opening of Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio in front of a huge crowd there to celebrate the return of racing after sitting idle for eight years. Going into the ninth and final night of Ohio Sprint Speedweek, Henry, who is only one of two drivers - the other being Greg Wilson - to have made all seven contested speedweek A-mains during, has a commanding lead in his bid to become the speedweek champion. Henry opened speedweek with a win at Attica Raceway Park where he is the defending track champion. He followed with a third place finish at Waynesfield Motorsports Park on Sunday before a heat race incident which placed him at the rear of the field for the feature Monday at Wayne County Speedway where he finished 17th. Henry roared back Tuesday with a third place run at Hilltop Speedway followed by a fifth place finish at Sharon Speedway Wednesday and a second place showing Thursday at Muskingum County Speedway Thursday. Friday at Millstream, Scotty Thiel grabbed the early lead in the 30-lap feature with Henry driving from fourth to second on the opening lap. Henry drove under Thiel for the lead on lap nine just as a caution flew for debris. Henry built up a substantial lead while the battle for second saw Zane DeVault get around Thiel on lap 12. A debris caution on lap 20 wiped out Henry's lead, but he executed a perfect restart to once again drive away. With five laps to go Henry held a 2.1 second lead over DeVault with ninth starter Skylar Gee moving into third after a spirited battle with Thiel and Cale Thomas. A yellow flag on the final lap set up a shootout but Henry once again nailed his restart and drove to the victory, his fourth overall win of 2024. DeVault, Gee, Thiel and 12th starter Joel Myers Jr. rounded out the top five. "I'm just so proud of my guys, Zack, Jeff, Gary, Chris and Chad, the way they've turned this season around means a lot. It truly is a team effort. To win in front of that big of a crowd is so cool. I wanted to just be patient and make sure we got good points, but I always want to win too. Years ago when the All Stars came here I was leading one and got taken out by another guy and lost it. This is the type of race track we kind of struggled at this week. I knew it was important to get out front and every one of those cautions was a big deal to keep us in clean air. It was really hard to see in traffic," said Henry beside his Premier Planning Service, Jeff Ward Demolition, Ohio Logistics, Primal Tee Shop, Elliott's Custom Trailers and Carts, FK Rod Ends, Griff's Engines backed #33W. The 42nd Annual Ohio Sprint Speedway concludes Saturday, June 15 at Atomic Speedway near Chillicothe, Ohio with a $10,000 to win feature event!
