  Schlenk remains unbeaten in Attica late model action; Stroup tames 305 sprints; Sorg earns truck victory

  ATTICA, Ohio - Rusty Schlenk remains undefeated at Attica Raceway Park in 2025. The three time national UMP late model champion took the lead with just seven laps remaining Friday, May 2 after a spirited battle with five time track champion Devin Shiels and drove to his fourth straight feature win on RPM Performance Parts/Morgan Stanley Night against the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Schlenk, the 2024 American Late Model Iron-Man Series champion who won the series race at Attica last season, took home $5,049 in the Stephen Wagner Memorial event. He also earned an extra $1,049 for winning the special Australian Pursuit in honor of Larry Scott. "I tell all my drivers to drive at 80 percent at all times and leave 100 percent for when you need it. Man we needed 100 percent every lap tonight. That was wild…a hell of a race and a lot of fun," said Schlenk beside his Buckeye Concrete Coatings, Terry Henricks Auto Group, Velocita USA, Dominator Race Products, Tom Finch Auto, Domination Race Cars, All Star Performance backed #91. Shiels, from Britton, Mich., jumped out to the early lead and quickly pulled away from the pack as Colten Burdette, from Parkersburg, W. Va., held second over Schlenk, Kyle Moore and Ryan Markham. Moore took third on lap two but no one was challenging Shiels until he encountered heavy lapped traffic just eight laps into the 30-lap affair that saw only one caution flag. At the halfway point Shiels had a put two lapped machine between himself and a good battle for second between Burdette, who was seeing Attica for the first time in his career, and Schlenk as Markham drove into fourth over Moore. With 10 laps to go Schlenk, from McClure, Ohio, took second and quickly began to eat into Shiels' lead and used a lapped car as a pick to drive into the lead on lap 23. With just four laps to go Shiels used traffic and drove by Schlenk but something broke on his #51 and he drove off the high side of turn one, handing the lead back to Schlenk who drove away for his 47th career Attica late model win over Burdette, Markham, Todd Brennan and Moore. In the 25-lap Fremont Fence 305 sprint feature Dustin Stroup grabbed the early lead as a good battle formed behind him involving Dustin Dinan, Jamie Miller, Paul Weaver and Jimmy McGrath. Miller took second on lap three but a big bobble in turn two on lap seven put McGrath and Dinan into second and third. The only thing that slowed Stroup's march to the checkers was several late race cautions, including with just two laps to go. The Fremont, Ohio driver executed a perfect restart and drove to his ninth career Attica win over McGrath, Weaver, Dinan and Miller. "This feels great. I wasn't sure how much I could race this year with having a new baby so me and JRA parted ways on good terms and my family still had a lot of parts and I bought a car from Dan Roberts…I drove for him in Indiana. I finished third in the nationals in that thing and that's the car I got. Fremont, Ohio's Keith Sorg battled with Shawn Valenti throughout the first 14 laps of the 15-lap dirt truck feature and then held off Jamie Miller in a one-lap dash following a caution on lap 14 to score his fourth career Attica win. "We blew up our good motor last week on opening night at Fremont. I've been kind of upset about that all week so to come out here and win makes up for a lot of that," said Sorg beside his Fremont Fence, M&L Excavating, Westend Tire, Great Lakes Garage Door backed #4s.   Borden declared 410 Attica winner after Thiel disqualification; Schlenk dominates for 3rd Late Model win; Miller gets 3rd 305 victory

  ATTICA, Ohio - Scotty Thiel led all 30 laps of the 410 A-main at Attica Raceway Park Friday, April 18. Unfortunately a post-race inspection showed he had a two-inch wicker bill on his top wing which is against the track's rules. Devon Borden, who had passed Thiel right before a caution flew with two laps to go, negating the lead pass, was declared the winner, his first ever at Attica on Baumann Auto Group/7L Construction/Venture Visionary Partners/Smith Paving Night. Borden, who started on pole of the Callie's Performance Products 410 Sprint A-main in his Bryan Grove Racing #45, dropped back to fourth early in the feature. He charged back into third on lap 12 behind Thiel and 12th starter Cap Henry. As Henry and Borden chased down Thiel in lapped traffic with three laps to go, hard contact between Borden and Henry put Borden in second and he charged to Thiel's outside exciting turn two just before the caution flew with two laps to go. After Thiel was disqualified at the feature at the scaled, Borden was awarded the win over Henry, 17th starter Kalib Henry, Bryce Lucius and 16th starter Craig Mintz. Borden, who transplanted to Pennsylvania from the State of Washington a couple of years ago, was ecstatic about his win. "I don't care how we won but we will take it. My guys have worked so hard on this thing. I can't thank Bryan Grove enough for the opportunity. We were pretty good…I had Scotty there before that yellow. I tried to move around on the restart and it hurt us. It feels do good to finally be on the horse track at Attica," said Borden beside his CEI Crane and Rigging, Starrett Services, DB Power washing backed machine. It was the opening night of the All Pro Aluminum Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series presented by the Baumann Auto Group and with his runner-up finish defending AFCS champion Cap Henry will vault into the early season lead. McClure, Ohio's Rusty Schlenk made it three wins in a row to open the season at Attica in the Dirt Nerds Podcast Powered by Propane UMP Late Models. Todd Brennan led the first lap with JR Gentry taking over the top spot a lap later. Third starting Schlenk took the lead on lap six and only a couple of back-to-back cautions on laps seven and eight kept the field close. The race went the final 17 laps caution-free and Schlenk, a three time national UMP champion, built up a nearly five second lead late in the race and cruised to his 46th career win at Attica over defending track champion Kyle Moore, Gentry, Devin Shiels and Brennan. "To be honest the car didn't feel that good. I was searching all over the track for speed. But, you tell me I had a five second lead….we must have been fast. I can't wait until it feels faster," said Schlenk beside his Buckeye Concrete Coatings, Terry Henricks Auto Group, Velocita USA, Dominator Race Products, Tom Finch Auto, Domination Race Cars, All Star Performance backed #91. Kasey Ziebold led the first five laps of the Fremont Fence 305 Sprints A-main before Tyler Shullick took over. Sixth starter Jamie Miller, the defending track champion, drove under Shullick for the top spot on lap 10. Shullick stayed close to Miller but Miller's car was just too good in lapped traffic as he took his third straight feature win at Attica, the 48th of his career at the track. A wild battle for second on the last lap had Shullick get by Blayne Keckler with 15th starter Matt Foos and Dustin Stroup rounding out the top five. "The car basically drove itself.   (PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) April 1, 2025 - After learning the ropes of 410 Sprint Car racing throughout their first three seasons with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series, Austin Hartmann and the 87A Hartmann Racing team will fire up year four with the IRA regional touring series in a co-sanctioned twin bill with the Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5 at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. The Plymouth, Wis. driver is coming off a solid 2024 campaign which featured several highlights, including a career-best night in the seat of a Sprint Car at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D. on Friday, July 19. The 2020 Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car Rookie of the Year won his first career IRA dash to claim his initial A-main pole position. The third-year 410 Sprint Car competitor topped off the memorable evening with a career-best fourth-place A-main finish. In 30 410 Sprint Car events during the 2024 season, Hartmann tallied one top five, nine top 10 and 16 top 15 A-main showings, while recording one dash victory in seven dash appearances and winning one B main on the way to finishing a career-best seventh in the final 2024 IRA point standings.   ATTICA, Ohio - When Chris Andrews decided to build his own team a few years ago he knew there would be struggles. It all came together for the former two-time Attica Raceway Park 410 sprint track champion Saturday, March 29 as he held off Justin Clark for his 11th career win on Advanced Drainage Systems/Construction Equipment and Supply Night. Andrews, from Sandusky, Ohio, led all 30 laps of the Callie's Performance Products 410 Sprint feature, but young Justin Clark made him earn the win, challenging him on several restarts. A red flag with just two laps to go made the finish very exciting as Andrews held off Clark to take the checkers by just .112 seconds. Clark, opening night winner Cap Henry, Bryce Lucius and Zane DeVault rounded out the top five. "Andrew Barman and Brandon Riehl worked very hard to put this team together and it's a shame we didn't have the results right away. AJ Havens came on board late last year and made some changes and it's paying off. We were very fast a couple of weeks ago and passed a lot of cars but had some issues.   ATTICA, Ohio - Cap Henry picked up where he left off in 2024. The Republic, Ohio driver, a three time and defending Attica Raceway Park 410 sprint champion, took the lead from Craig Mintz on lap eight and then held off several challenges from Mintz in traffic to score the opening night win at "Ohio's Finest Racing" speed plant, Friday, March 14 on Underground Utilities Inc./R.D. Holder Oil Company Night. Dan McCarron led the first two circuits of the Callie's Performance Products 410 Sprint A-main before fourth starter Mintz blasted by for the lead. Henry, who started eighth on the grid, moved into second on lap seven and under Mintz for the lead exiting turn four to complete lap eight. Henry encountered heavy lapped traffic on lap 13 and that allowed both Mintz and DJ Foos to close. Henry and Mintz nearly touched several times over the next hand full of laps until the only caution of the 30-lap affair fell on lap 14 for a stalled Chris Andrews who had charged from eighth to ninth. Despite a clear track, Henry could not shake Mintz as the pair continued to battle through heavy lapped traffic with just eight laps to go. Henry finally found the high line to his liking and pulled away for his 21st career 410 sprint win at Attica, placing him in a tie with Chad Kemenah for fourth on the division's all-time win list. Mintz, Foos, McCarron and Bryan Sebetto rounded out the top five. "I was pretty confident before that caution. I told Zack (Myers, crew chief) we were kind of fighting something with the wing valve…it felt like the wing was just moving wherever it wanted. So I was driving the thing and trying to push it back forward and finally just let it trunk itself and dealt with it. This is the second race on this car. It's a new MK2 chassis that we built. We raced it once at the end of last year…raced at the Tennessee National and almost won that and we came here and dominated tonight.
