- Dylan Swiernik Wins Fourth Race of 2025 at Drummond
By Curtis Berleue (Drummondville, QC) | In what could be considered a breakout year for Dylan Swiernik, he picked up his fourth win of the 2025 season on Saturday night at Autodrome Drummond. The Port Leyden, NY driver led early, and then re-took the lead on lap 24 after running the majority of the race in the runner-up position to earn a $3,000 pay day north of the border. Leading the field to green by virtue of drawing the Pinnacle pole award was the #7C of Dylan Swiernik. Swiernik would take the lead early, with Dale Gosselin in second. By lap six, however, Friday nights winner Alex Therrien was able to get by Swiernik and take command of the field. The lead duo would then run the next handful of laps in the same running order, with Therrien opening up over a one second advantage over Swiernik. Behind them, fellow Quebec driver Jordan Poirier had made quite a bit of headway in the first few laps. After starting 11th, Poirier went to seventh on lap two, and took hold of a podium spot on lap three, making it all the way up to third. As the laps wound down, Swiernik began to close the gap on Therrien. With just two laps remaining he was able to get by Therrien's #21 machine to re-claim the lead. Swiernik would go on to lead the final laps, and pick up his fourth win of 2025. Behind Swiernik, Alex Therrien finished second, while Jordan Poirier rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third. Danny Varin finished fourth, and Davie Franek completed the top five. With 23 cars signed into the pits, the field was split into three timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Davie Franek, Jordan Poirier and Dale Gosselin, while Elab Smokers Boutique heat race victories went to Dylan Swiernik, Jordan Poirier and Dale Gosselin. - Therrien Dominates Granby for First ESS Win
By Curtis Berleue (Granby, QC) | For Alex Therrien, the two-race weekend in Quebec at Autodromes Granby and Drummond is always circled on his calendar as a weekend racing close to home. Friday night, it was not only a home game for the Victoriaville, Quebec driver, but it also marked his first Empire Super Sprints victory in front of a home crowd. By virtue of drawing the Pinnacle Pole Award, Mathieu Bardier brought the field to green alongside of Alex Therrien. Bardier led the field into turn one, but by the exit of turn two, Therrien had taken command of the field. A red flag with just one lap complete set the field up for a restart, and Therrien again jumped out to a lead, but this time with Joe Trenca in tow as he was able to get by Bardier for second. With 10 laps complete, Therrien had opened up over a straightaway lead and began working lap traffic. Trenca remained second, and Jason Barney had worked his way into a podium position. Just one lap later, Barney got by Trenca using the low side of the speedway to take possession of second. Dylan Swiernik, who had started 9th, was slowly making his way through the field. With 12 laps complete, he had made his way into the top ten, and four laps later he slipped by Trenca for third. With 9 laps remaining, he got by Barney for second and set his sights on Therrien. Therrien's lead, which had opened up to over three seconds, began shrinking, but Swiernik ran out of time and Therrien held on to pick up his first Empire Super Sprints victory. Behind Therrien, Dylan Swiernik crossed the line in second, and Jordan Poirier rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third, as he got by Barney with just a handful of laps remaining. 21 cars signed in for action on Friday at Granby, splitting the field into three timed hot lap groups. Dale Curran, Dylan Swiernik, and Shawn Donath earned Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards. In Elab Smokers Boutique heat race action, Matt Tanner, Dylan Swiernik and Davie Franek all picked up victories. - Empire Super Sprints Head to Quebec Next
By Curtis Berleue (Granby, QC) | The month of August is winding down, and that can only mean one thing for the Empire Super Sprints: a trip north of the border to Quebec. This weekend, the touring 360 sprint cars will make their way to Autodrome Granby in Granby, QC on Friday, followed by Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, QC on Saturday. An enhanced purse structure for this weekend has been published, making both events $3,000 to win and $500 to start. Tow money has also been made available, paying $500 per eligible tour regular per night and $350 for all other drivers. The event Friday night will also be a special 28 laps, as Granby honors all time ESS win leader (77) and eight-time champion (tied for first) Steve Poirier. In last years trip to Quebec, it was two-time champion Jason Barney who picked up the win at Granby, and another two-time champion Jordan Poirier who picked up the win at Drummond. With the extra money on the line, a stout field of drivers has already committed to this weekend's trip north. Atop the point standings, Jordan Poirier currently leads Dylan Swiernik, having amassed four wins and 16 top tens thus far in 2025. Third belongs to Davie Franek, with Jason Barney and Shawn Donath rounding out the top five. - Colagiovanni Wins at Brockville
By Curtis Berleue (Brockville, ONT) | For the first time this season, 2019 tour champion Paulie Colagiovanni found his way back to victory lane in Empire Super Sprints competition on Saturday at Brockville. After a handful of second-place finished, Colagiovanni was able to take the lead on lap thee and not look back, en-route to a $2,000 win north of the border. Pinnacle Pole Award winner Rick Wilson would take the early lead in the A-Main over Trevor Years. On lap three, a caution slowed the field and on the ensuing restart Paulie Colagiovanni was able to slip by both Years and Wilson to take the lead. As the laps wound down, Colagiovanni opened his lead to nearly half a track. Behind Colagiovanni, Friday nights second-place finisher Davie Franek had worked his way into the runner-up position but was unable to close the gap between them. For the first time in 2025, Colagiovanni crossed the line first, picking up $2,000 and a trip to victory lane. "It feels great to get a win for Denny, and the whole Denny Peebles Racing team, it's just awesome," said Colagiovanni in victory lane. "We definitely struggled a little bit with this chassis in the beginning of the year, we just didn't have the amount of track time we needed to fine tune it." Davie Franek was once again a bridesmaid, bringing home his second runner-up position on the weekend. "The start just kind of messed me up there," said Franek. "I felt really good, he (Paulie) just kind of got out there in clean air and he could maneuver a little better." Rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium was Jordan Poirier in third. "It was a little difficult to pass cars without a cushion, I was really hoping for a cushion tonight," said Poirier. "Finishing third after last night feels really good though." With 18 cars in the pits, the field was split into three timed hot lap groups, with Rifenburg Fast Time awards going to Dylan Swiernik, Davie Franek and Jason Barney. Swiernik, Franek and Barney also picked up Elab Smokers Boutique heat wins, while Joe Trenca won the L.A. Kapp Inc. dash. By Curtis Berleue (LaFargeville, NY) | For the first time in 2025, Shawn Donath picked up the $2,000 win in Empire Super Sprints competition on Friday night at the Can-Am Speedway in LaFargeville, NY. It was his first victory at the northern NY oval since 2014. Tyler Rand and Jordan Poirier led the field to green for 25 laps, and as the field completed lap one it was Poirier with the lead, followed by Davie Franek and Rand. Utilizing the extreme outside line of the speedway, Poirier quickly opened up a straightaway lead over the rest of the field. By lap 7, Poirier had reached the back of the field, which allowed Franek to close the gap slightly. Behind them, Shawn Donath had managed to work his way around Joe Trenca for third. A handful of laps later, Donath used the low side of the track to pull even with Franek, and slide him for position exiting turn four. His efforts were short lived, however, as Alex Therrien used the same move on Donath in the next set of corners, taking second and setting his sights on fellow Quebec driver Poirier. Therrien was able to catch Poirier and take the lead as the duo crossed the line to complete lap 16. While Therrien opened his lead, Donath was able to get by Poirier for second. With three to go, Donath had caught Therrien and made his move to take the lead off of turn four. Despite a late race charge from Franek, Shawn Donath held on to take his first win of 2025. "Kudos to Tyler and his team, what a great race track," said Donath in victory lane. "After that first start I was third and I knew we had a good car, it just took a little bit to get rolling." Davie Franek crossed the line in second. "Shawn was good, I wish I moved down a little bit earlier, it started getting sticky down there with some rubber," said Franek. "I probably could have pushed the envelope going into three there at the end, but on a two day weekend you don't want to have to pull your backup car down." Alex Therrien held on to round out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third. "I made some mistakes at the end of the race, it's my fault for losing the lead," said Therrien of his third place finish. 22 cars signed in on Friday night at Can-Am, and as such the field was split into three timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Davie Franek, Logan Crisafulli and Paulie Colagiovanni, and Elab Smokers Boutique heat races were won by Franek, Dalton Rombough and Jordan Poirier. The Cooks Family Diner Dash was won by Matt Tanner. The next scheduled event for the Empire Super Sprints is Saturday August 2nd at the Brockville Ontario Speedway in Brockville, ONT. By Curtis Berleue (LaFargeville, NY) | The month of August is set to start with a bang for the Empire Super Sprints, as another doubleheader weekend is scheduled for August 1 & 2. On Friday, August 1 the tour will visit the Can-Am Speedway in LaFargeville, NY for the second of three scheduled visits. The following night will see action at the Brockville Ontario Speedway in Brockville, Ontario. Earlier this season, the annual CNY Speedweek kicked off at the Can-Am Speedway and it was Dylan Swiernik who ended the night in victory lane. In one previous visit to Brockville back in June, Canadian Jordan Poirier was victorious. Both drivers are looking for repeat performances as they battle for the top spot in the point standings. After 14 races, Jordan Poirier maintains the lead in the points race with 1584 points, four wins and fourteen top-ten finishes, while Dylan Swiernik sits second with 1418 points, three wins and 12 top-ten finishes. Jason Barney is third in points, followed by Davie Franek and Shawn Donath. - Hebing Tames Highbanks of Woodhull Raceway
By Curtis Berleue (Woodhull, NY) | Though only running a limited schedule in 2025, Chuck Hebing once again found his way to victory lane at the highbanks of the Woodhull Raceway on Saturday night. 'The Cobra' added one more to his win total, breaking a tie for third with Lance Yonge on the all-time Empire Super Sprints feature win list with his 40th victory. Jason Barney drew the Pinnacle Pole Award and thus led the field to green alongside of Hebing. Hebing used his outside starting position to his advantage, and immediately opened lead over Shawn Donath and Barney. As the laps clicked off, Hebing, Donath and Barney began to separate themselves from the rest of the field. By lap 10, Hebing had reached the back of the field, beginning to navigate lap traffic. Behind Hebing and Donath, Barney, Davie Franek and Jordan Poirier were having a spirited battle for the final podium spot, with Poirier emerging with possession of third place on lap 15. For the second straight night, a non-stop feature with a total run time of less than 7 minutes took place, and ultimately Donath nor Poirier had anything for Hebing as he picked up the win. "Woodhull has been awful good to me over the years," said Hebing in victory lane. "The moisture they put on it made it kinda locked down, but it awas good." "I wanted to retire again, so this is a good way to do it. We had a good career, we'll do some boating now." Shawn Donath picked up a second place finish. "These guys gave me a heck of a racecar," said Donath. "I didn't think anyone was going to try the bottom, but with the conditions they were dealt today, they did a great job with the track." Jordan Poirier finished third, rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium. "We're pretty happy with third, we have struggled here in the past," said Poirier. "We started sixth which is pretty deep, I didn't know how much the track was going to widen out with the water they put on it before the feature but it was actually super racey." With the threat of rain all night, the field was split into two timed hot lap groups with Dylan Swiernik and Jared Zimbardi earning Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards. Elab Smokers Boutique heat wins went to Dylan Swiernik and Davie Franek, and Trevor Years won the Cobra Motorhomes & Trailers dash presented by Grimes Dairy Equipment. - Franek Wins Empire Super Sprints Outlaw Summer Nationals
By Curtis Berleue (Dundee, NY) | For the second time in two years, Davie Franek picked up a $4,000 victory at the Outlaw Speedway on Friday night. Last years Outlaw Fall Nationals winner once again found victory lane at the Dundee oval, this time leading every lap in a non-stop feature in the Outlaw Summer Nationals worth $4,000. By virtue of drawing the Pinnacle Pole award, Joe Trenca and Davie Franek led the field to green. As the field reached turn one, it was Franek with the advantage. Behind Franek, Jordan Poirier made quick work of the four cars in front of him, moving from his sixth place starting spot into second behind Franek. Dalton Rombough followed in third. Two laps later, Rombough was able to sneak by Poirier to take second. The lead duo would remain the same for the next several laps, all working the high side of the speedway. Behind the leaders, Dylan Swiernik was putting in work, making his way through the field from his eleventh starting spot. Without a caution to slow the pace, Swiernik had made it into the top three on lap 19, but the lead duo of Franek and Rombough remained unchanged, and Franek took the checkers first in a green-to-checkers run of the A-Main that totaled just six minutes and forty seconds in length. "The track was great," said Franek in victory lane. "We didn't qualify that good, in the heat race we changed some things and then we really didn't do that much for the feature." "To be honest, we've been struggling the last month with the new tires, we've kind of got a balance now though and I feel like we will be pretty good from here on out." Dalton Rombough came home second. "The car was really good, I just couldn't get through lap traffic like him (Franek)," said Rombough. I struggled on the bottom, and I feel like if we could get a little better there we would be in the winners circle." Rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third was Dylan Swiernik. "Without having a caution, to come up there to third was good," said Swiernik. "To come from tenth or eleventh, wherever we came from, we'll take it. I think this is our fifth or sixth straight top three finish so we're on a roll right now, just trying to keep the momentum going." 20 cars signed into the pits Friday night, splitting the field into three timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Jordan Thomas, Shawn Donath and Dylan Swiernik, while Joe Trenca, Davie Franek and Dylan Swiernik picked up Elab Smokers Boutique heat wins. The Cobra Motorhomes & Trailers Dash presented by Lanes Yamaha was won by Keith Granholm. - Outlaw, Woodhull To Close Out July for Empire Super Sprints
By Curtis Berleue (Dundee, NY) | As the month of July comes to a close, the Empire Super Sprints are rapidly closing in on the half-way point of their 2025 season. To finish off the month, two more events are on tap, with a trip to the Outlaw Speedway this Friday, followed by the tour's lone stop at the Woodhull Raceway on Saturday. Friday night, the Empire Super Sprints will compete in the annual Outlaw Summer Nationals, boasting one of the highest paydays of the season with $4,010.10 to the winner on the line commemorating the 10th running of the event. This will be the first of four scheduled stops at the Yates County oval, as the event scheduled in April fell to Mother Nature. Last July, it was Matt Tanner who picked up the Outlaw Summer Nationals, and he will be looking to repeat that feat this weekend. Saturday night, the tour moves just south to the Woodhull Raceway. Dubbed 'New Yorks Toughest Bullring', the high banks of the Woodhull Raceway always provide some of the best action on the schedule. In 2024, Jared Zimbardi picked up the win at Woodhull over Billy VanInwegen and Jason Barney. Additional support on the weekend will come from Lanes Yamaha and Grimes Dairy equipment. Both companies have signed on as the presenting sponsor of the Cobra Dash Series dash's this weekend, with Lanes Yamaha presenting the dash Friday at Outlaw, and Grimes Dairy Equipment supporting Saturday's dash at Woodhull. The points standings remain largely unchanged after last weekends events at Albany-Saratoga and Fonda, with Jordan Poirier still atop the leaderboard with a 160 point advantage over Dylan Swiernik. Jason Barney sits in third, with Paulie Colagiovanni fourth and Davie Franek rounding out the top five. For a full list of gate times and admission prices to both events this weekend, please be sure to visit the Outlaw Speedway and Woodhull Raceway social media pages and websites, along with the Empire Super Sprints social media pages. - Varin Tops ESS Field at Fonda
By Curtis Berleue (Fonda, NY) | For the ninth time in the last ten visits to the Fonda Speedway for the Empire Super Sprints, it was Danny Varin in victory lane. The nearly unbeatable driver from just down the road added yet another victory to his win tally on Saturday night, picking up another Earl Halaquist Memorial at the 'Track of Champions' worth $2,000. Pinnacle Pole Award recipient Paulie Colagiovanni led the field to green alongside of Jordan Thomas for the 25 lap event. Colagiovanni looked to have the lead as the field entered turn one, but by the time they hit the backstretch it was Danny Varin in command of the field, coming from his third starting spot. Varin opened his lead up to almost a half-straight almost immediately, with Colagiovanni, Jordan Poirier, Davie Franek and Thomas in tow. By lap 8, Varin caught the back of the field and had just begun to work lap traffic when the caution flew for a spinning Mike Kiser in turn two. When the green flag flew again, Varin again began building his lead over the rest of the field. Behind the top three, it was Shawn Donath who was putting on a show, having passed multiple cars using the extreme high side of the speedway and working his way up to fourth. His success was short lived, as he ultimately ventured just a little too high off of turn two, catching the wall and flipping with just 7 laps remaining. As action resumed, Varin again paced the field over Colagiovanni and Poirier. Dylan Swiernik was making a late-race charge, and with just four laps to go he got by both Poirier and Colagiovanni using the same line Donath had been working just laps earlier. Making a late charge, Swiernik got within three car lengths of Varin on the last lap, but Varin was able to hang on to capture his second Empire Super Sprints win of 2025. "I didn't think that this was going to happen tonight," said Varin. "We weren't very good in the heat race, didn't really feel like we could roll around people. You had to just hit your marks perfect and not make mistakes." After starting eighth, Dylan Swiernik made a late race charge but came up one spot short of victory lane. "We started off a little too tight, had too much fuel and didn't have the balance we wanted," said Swiernik. "When that red came out, I was able to kinda reset in my mind and pull the wing forward, tell myself I knew what I needed to do on the top side." Jordan Poirier rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium, finishing third and marking his second podium finish in as many nights. The field was split into two timed hot lap groups, with Danny Varin and Jordan Poirier earning Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards. Elab Smokers Boutique heat wins went to Paulie Colagiovanni and Jordan Poirier, while Joe Trenca picked up the win in the One Zee Tees dash. The next scheduled event for the Empire Super Sprints is this coming Friday July 25th at the Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY for the Outlaw Summer Nationals paying $4,000 to win. - Poirier Back in Victory Lane at Albany-Saratoga
By Curtis Berleue (Malta, NY) | For the fourth time in 2025, Jordan Poirier is an Empire Super Sprints winner. Though he started on the pole, it was far from an easy night for the Quebec driver as he held off multiple charges from Paulie Colagiovanni and Danny Varin en-route to his $2,000 victory. Jordan Poirier and Jeff Trombley brought the field to the initial green flag, and it was Poirier who grabbed the early lead. Paulie Colagiovanni followed in his tracks to take second, but Trombley fought back to reclaim the runner-up spot. Behind the lead trio, Shawn Donath was comfortably in fourth with Danny Varin just behind in fifth. After 5 laps, Trombley came under fire once again from Colagiovanni, with Colagiovanni clearing the #3A of Trombley via a slide job in turns one and two. As Poirier caught lap traffic, Colagiovanni was catching him and by lap 9 Colagiovanni was right on his tail tank. He wasn't able to make anything of his hard work though, as the caution flew for Jeff Trombley who had slowed in turn four. On the ensuing restart, Poirier again jumped out to the lead with Colagiovanni and now Danny Varin in tow for third. A handful of laps later, Colagiovanni was again within striking distance of Poirier and cleared a slide job in turns one and two. His lead was short lived, however, as Poirier was able to turn back under Colagiovanni and re-take the lead down the backstretch. A late race restart would allow Danny Varin to get by Colagiovanni, and for the next few laps the duo would trade sliders for second until Varin mis-stepped on the cushion in turn two and went over the bank, bringing out another caution. With a clear track in front of him, nobody was able to catch Poirier who picked up his fourth win of 2025. "I knew he (Colagiovanni) was good up top early in the night," said Poirier. "I was cheating the cushion a little bit and then I started hearing him so I tried to venture up a little bit more." "My car was really good on the cushion, I thought 3 & 4 was going away at some point, but I just didn't want to miss out by going to the bottom and then it stayed good up top all race." Paulie Colagiovanni held on to second for his season-best finish thus far. "I thought I had a run on Jordan coming into three and four and I was going to slide him, but the caution came out," said Colagiovanni. "Every time the caution came out after that a couple of cars just got under me but I'm glad we hung on for second." Dylan Swiernik continued his strong season with another podium finish, rounding out the top three. "This is probably our favorite place to come to on the calendar," said Swiernik. "To come from twelfth to third here, we'll take it and move on to Fonda tomorrow." 24 cars signed into the pits on Friday night at Albany-Saratoga, and as such the field was split into three timed hot lap groups. Jason Barney, Danny Varin and Jordan Thomas earned Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards, while Barney, Davie Franek and Paulie Colagiovanni won Elab Smokers Boutique heat races. The We Know Tools dash was won by Kyle Smith. The next scheduled event for the Empire Super Sprints is Saturday July 19th at the Fonda Speedway in Fonda, NY. - Albany-Saratoga, Fonda On Deck for Empire Super Sprints
By Curtis Berleue (Malta, NY) | After a much-deserved weekend off following a grueling 2025 CNY Speedweek, the Empire Super Sprints are set to spring back into action this weekend. With their only trip of the season to the far-eastern side of New York, the tour will stop Friday at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, NY and Saturday at the Fonda Speedway in Fonda, NY. Friday's visit to Albany-Saratoga will be the 35 ESS event at the 4/10 mile oval, with the first event dating all the way back to July 13, 1985 when Gordy Button picked up the win. Recently, it was Danny Varin in victory lane, winning last year's stop just north of the state capital. Saturday, the tour heads an hour down the road to the Fonda Speedway for the annual Earl Halaquist Memorial. Earl Halaquist Memorial was one of the most accomplished sprint car drivers in the Northeast in his time. Competing across NY, NJ, PA, VA, NC, MD VT, Canada and more, Halaquist amassed 53 URC wins and six championships. Halaquist, a World War II veteran, was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, IA in 2000 before his passing in 2001. While there have been 15 different winners in 28 events at the Fonda Speedway through the years, recently it has been almost all Danny Varin in victory lane. Varin has won every ESS event at the track since August of 2017 with the exception of 2023 when Shawn Donath spoiled the streak for a total of 8 wins in 9 starts. All eyes will be on the tour's most recent winner to see if he can go 9 for 10 on Saturday. After 5 races in 5 nights through CNY Speedweek, the year-end points battle is starting to take shape. Defending champion Jordan Poirier still sits atop the standings with 1133 points, and Speedweek champion Dylan Swiernik is in second with 982 points. Jason Barney follows with 913 points in third, while Paulie Colagiovanni (857 points) and Logan Crisafulli (854 points) complete the top five. A full listing of gate times and prices, along with a nightly schedule of events for this weekends events at Albany-Saratoga and Fonda can be found on the tracks social media pages and website, along with the Empire Super Sprints social media pages. - Varin Wins at Weedsport, Swiernik Wins CNY Speedweek Title
By Curtis Berleue (Weedsport, NY) | After a grueling 5 straight days of action, the Pitre Painting CNY Speedweek rolled into Weedsport on Sunday night to crown a week-long champion. When the dust settled, it was Danny Varin who found himself in victory lane, and Dylan Swiernik who had captured the week-long title. Starting on the Pinnacle Pole, Chase Moran jumped out to an early lead over Jordan Hutton, though the start was called back for an incident on the front stretch. When the green flew again, it was the same story with Moran jumping out to a quick lead over Hutton and Danny Varin. Using the extreme inside of the speedway, Varin was able to sneak past Hutton for second on lap 6. Three laps later, he had caught Moran and was looking to get by him on the bottom as well. On lap 12, Varin was successful in doing so, and took sole possession of the lead. Behind Varin, the rest of the top 5 of Dylan Swiernik, Moran, Logan Crisafulli, and Hutton were battling for the same real estate. By lap 17, Swiernik had taken second, and two laps later on lap 19 Crisafulli had secured third. Out front, however, there was no stopping Varin as he sailed to victory hill, picking up the win on the fifth and final night of Pitre Painting CNY Speedweek. "That was a hard-fought race, that was difficult in lap traffic," said Varin in victory lane. "It was super, super, super slick. This is the place to win though." Dylan Swiernik was able to cap off a dream week with a second-place finish. He ended the week with three wins, a ninth-place finish at Brewerton and a second, earning him his first CNY Speedweek title. "We've worked our tails off for the past week and a half, all of this week," said Swiernik. "To bring out a new car Wednesday, win thee races out of five and finish second tonight - it's been a dream week really." "The teams been working really hard, just kept our head down all week long and tried to stay focused." Rounding out the podium was Logan Crisafulli, who was using a back-up car after an incident the night before at Fulton. "I did not expect to be up here at all," said Crisafulli. "This is a prototype car we're testing, it has coils on it instead of bars, but obviously it works pretty well." With 37 cars in the pit area for the final night of Pitre Painting CNY Speedweek, the field was split into 4 timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Kyle Smith, Jordan Poirier, Davie Franek and Dylan Swiernik. Elab Smokers Boutique heat races were won by Larry Wight, Jordan Poirier, Matt Tanner and Jason Barney. The Travis Racing Engines Dash went to Ryan Turner, and Shawn Donath won the Lacaillade Masonry B-Main. The next scheduled event for the Empire Super Sprints is Friday July 18 at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, NY. - Swiernik Picks Up 3rd Win of ESS CNY Speedweek Saturday at Fulton
By Curtis Berleue (Fulton, NY) | For the third time in four nights, Dylan Swiernik sat in Empire Super Sprints victory lane during the Pitre Painting CNY Speedweek. After setting quick time in his group and starting on the pole, the Port Leyden, NY driver led 17 of 25 laps on his way to capture $2,500 and re-take the CNY Speedweek points lead. Starting on the Pinnacle Pole, Dylan Swiernik jumped out to the lead early, though it was short lived as Joe Trenca was able to get past him to take the lead on lap two. Trenca would remain in control of the field for the next 8 laps, building a lead of nearly two seconds at one point. On lap 10, however, Swiernik got back by the Clay, NY driver to retake the lead. Behind the lead duo, Jordan Poirier, who had started 10th, had quietly worked his way into the top 5. On lap 11, he slid into a podium position, and just two laps later got by Trenca for second. Neither driver would be able to close the gap on Swiernik, however, and he crossed the line first for his third win of the week. "All wee my guys have been telling me to just be patient, we have the car to win," said Swiernik in victory lane. "I pulled a couple of sliders, some of the lap cars pulled up for me but when everybody's on the top you have to get past them as soon as you can, I didn't know who was coming or if the bottom was coming in. I just stuck up top and tried to hold them off." Jordan Poirier finished second after starting 10th. "Our car was really good, just like every race this week though we started a little deep," said Poirier. "It all comes down to tomorrow at Weedsport though, we just need a solid finish and we should be good." Joe Trenca rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium, finishing third. "We were good, just lacking some stuff," said Trenca. "We're turning our week around, it's been a rough week." 33 cars signed in for the fourth night of CNY Speedweek, splitting the field into four timed hot lap sessions. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Alex Therrien, Chase Moran, DJ Christie and Dylan Swiernik. Elab Smokers Boutique heats were won by Davie Franek, Matt Tanner, Nick Sheridan and Kyle Smith, while Ryan Turner won the Goliath Holdings dash. Larry Wight won the Lacaillade Masonry B-Main. The Pitre Painting CNY Speedweek will conclude tonight at the Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport, NY. - Barney Wins Night 3 of ESS Speedweek at Brewerton
By Curtis Berleue (Brewerton, NY) | Brewerton, NY driver Jason Barney always has the Empire Super Sprints stops at his home track circled on his calendar. With his success at the 'D-Shaped Dirt Demon' during last years edition of CNY Speedweek, he was looking to back it up with another win in 2025, and that's exactly what he did, earning a $2,500 payday in the process. Drawing the Pinnacle Pole, Glenn Styres led the field to green next to Logan Crisafulli. Crisafulli got the early jump, and would lead the opening 7 laps. By lap 8, fourth-starting Larry Wight had caught Crisafulli and was able to get by him to take possession of the lead. Wight would proceed to lead the next 13 laps, when Jason Barney - who had spent the entirety of the feature thus far in a podium spot - slipped by him. While Wight was able to maintain a close gap on Barney, he ultimately wasn't able to reclaim his lead and Barney would cross the line first for his first ESS win of 2025. "That was pretty crazy, that was pretty fun," said Barney in victory lane. "I really didn't think that was going to happen. Larry was better, we got in traffic and I struggled a bit. The caution just gave me a chance to reset." "I just put the wing back, made some adjustments. Wherever Larry was going, I was going to go somewhere different and it just worked out." Larry Wight held on to finish in second. "This is the first time I have run a sprint car since the Outlaw 200 last year," said Wight. "We didn't know what to do with this new tire, we needed like two, two and a half laps to get some heat into the right rear. Then I started chasing Jason back down and just ran out of time." Rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium was Danny Varin with a third place finish. "We were really good, we just got held up early," said Varin. "Jason was on the bottom, the 36 was on the top and we just couldn't make the middle work. It's a good third place finish for us tonight." Night 3 of Pitre Painting CNY Speedweek saw 31 cars signed into the pit area of the Brewerton Speedway. In timed hot laps, Logan Crisafulli, Ryan Turner and Billy VanInwegen earned Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards. Elab Smokers Boutique heat wins went to Logan Crisafulli, Larry Wight and Billy VanInwegen. The JZ Snowdrifters Dash was won by Dalton Rombough, and Shawn Donath won the Lacaillade Masonry B-Main. The Pitre Painting CNY Speedweek continues next at the Fulton Speedway in Fulton, NY. - Barney Wins Night 3 of ESS Speedweek at Brewerton
Brewerton, NY driver Jason Barney always has the Empire Super Sprints stops at his home track circled on his calendar. With his success at the 'D-Shaped Dirt Demon' during last years edition of CNY Speedweek, he was looking to back it up with another win in 2025, and that's exactly what he did, earning a $2,500 payday in the process.
- Swiernik Doubles Up, Wins Night Two of ESS Speedweek at Utica-Rome
By Curtis Berleue (Vernon, NY) | For the second night in a row, Dylan Swiernik found himself in victory lane at the conclusion of on-track action. The $2,500 victory extended the Port Leyden, NY drivers lead in the weeklong points chase as the tour nears the middle of the week. 'The Cobra' Chuck Hebing drew the Pinnacle Pole, and thus led the field to green for 25 laps alongside of Sammy Reakes IV. Hebing jumped out to the lead early, with Jordan Poirier moving up from 5th to second and Dylan Swiernik in third behind him. With Poirier on the low side and Hebing through the middle, the lead duo pulled away from the rest of the field through the opening five laps. By lap 8 they caught lap traffic, allowing Dylan Swiernik to close in on them. Using a lap car as a pick on lap 9, Swiernik got by Poirier for second and set his sights on Hebing. Poirier wasn't about to give up though, as just two laps later he fought back to the inside of Swiernik. He was unable to get by him, though, and a lap later Swiernik again used lap traffic to his advantage, taking over the lead from Hebing as they crossed the halfway mark. A mishap in turns one and two would set back Poirier two spots, with both Paulie Colagiovanni and Logan Crisafulli slipping by. Again not to be outdone, Poirier fought back onto the podium a handful of laps later. Out front, Swiernik had opened up his lead to over a second, and was able to successfully navigate lap traffic to remain unchallenged, crossing under the checkers first for the second time in as many nights. "This is unbelievable, usually I'm terrible here," said Swiernik in victory lane. "They (Hebing and Poirier) made it tough. I wish he (Hebing) would go back into retirement because he ran a little too good." Making a rare appearance after scaling back his racing efforts, Chuck Hebing held on for second. "I was putting that car together for Lacey, I kinda still had an itch and thought I needed to come out one more time," said Hebing. "The car was good, In just did a bad job myself in the lap traffic and that's when Dylan gained on me and got by me." Rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery Podium was Jordan Poirier in third. "I was trying to venture out, my best line was out of two," said Poirier. "My car wasn't great in the middle, I was really good on the bottom. As soon as I would venture out I would struggle." 31 cars signed into the pits for night two of the Pitre Painting CNY Speedweek. The field was split into three timed hot lap groups, with Danny Varin, Jordan Poirier and Matt Farnham earning Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards. Elab Smokers Boutique heat races were won by Billy VanInwegen, Jordan Poirier and Chuck Hebing. The Advanced Electrical and Communications LLC. Dash was won by Danny Varin, while Chase Moran won the Lacaillade Masonry B-Main. The Empire Super Sprints CNY Speedweek continues tonight, July 4th at the Brewerton Speedway in Brewerton, NY. - Swiernik Opens ESS CNY Speedweek With Win at Can-Am
By Curtis Berleue (LaFargeville, NY) | On the opening night of the 2025 version of the Empire Super Sprints Central NY Speedweek, it was all Dylan Swiernik as he went quick time in his group, won his heat and won the A-Main en-route to a $2,500 payday. Dillon Paddock and Davie Franek would bring the field to green for 25 laps. As the field got to turn one, Franek would get a little sideways allowing Paddock to take an early lead. Matt Tanner would fall in line behind him, with Franek relegated back to third. 10th-starting Jordan Poirier made quick work of all 10 cars in front of him, as he passed Paddock for the lead coming to the start/finish line on lap 4. For the next handful of laps, Poirier paced the field, though Paddock didn't let him out of his sight. On lap 8, Dylan Swiernik entered the chat for the podium as he passed Franek for third, coming from his 8th starting spot. A caution shortly after stacked the field up for a restart. Poirier jumped back out to the lead, with Swiernik picking off another car for the second spot. As the laps clicked off, the lead duo started to pull away from the field. On lap 13, Swiernik saw his opportunity coming off of turn two and used a run he had built on the bottom to his advantage, rocketing past Poirier for the lead. With a clear track in front of him, Swiernik didn't look back, almost immediately building a lead of over two seconds. Through the remaining laps, Poirier wasn't able to get back to Swiernik, who picked up his first win of 2025. "It was amazing," said Swiernik of his new car in victory lane. "I didn't really realize when that caution came out how far ahead I was." "I was able to stay with him (Poirier) off of three and four, made my move in two and just pulled away for the win from there." Jordan Poirier earned the A-Verdi Storage Containers Hard Charger award by virtue of going 10th to 2nd. "I knew my car was going away out of two, everybody was throwing dust from the bottom to the top," said Poirier. "I felt like somebody would need a good car to pass me still, but then I saw Dylan could go middle, top bottom. I tried to follow him but I was stuck where the track was clean, I couldn't really go up in the dust." Finishing third was Billy VanInwegen. "I just have to clean up a couple of things on my end," said VanInwegen. "I got off to a really rough start, missed my marks a couple of times. What a racetrack though, that was a really cool race, the track changed a lot throughout the race and it just took me a little bit to get back in the swing of things." 29 cars signed in for the first night of Central NY Speedweek, splitting the field into three timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Jason Barney, Dylan Swiernik and Davie Franek. Elab Smokers Boutique heat races were won by Dalton Rombough, Dylan Swiernik and Davie Franek. The Cooks Hardware Dash went to Danny Varin, while Chad Phelps won the Lacaillade Masonry B-Main. - ESS Central NY Speedweek Kicks Off Wednesday
By Curtis Berleue (LaFargeville, NY) | Every year as the calendar flips to July the Empire Super Sprints get ready to kick off their Central NY Speedweek, and this year is no different. The 2025 version of the Pitre Painting CNY Speedweek is set to get under way this Wednesday for 5 straight nights of action. Starting Wednesday night, the tour heads to the Can-Am Speedway in LaFargeville, NY. Thursday, teams will head back down I-81 to the Utica-Rome Speedway. Friday and Saturday see a stop at the Brewerton and Fulton Speedways, respectively before the week-long event culminates on Sunday at the Weedsport Speedway. Each night of this years CNY Speedweek will pay $2,500 to the winner and $300 to start. Defending CNY Speedweek champion and current ESS points leader Jordan Poirier leads the charge into the week. While he never got to victory lane last year during Speedweek, Poirier proved that consistency is key, finishing outside of the top 5 just once (6th at Fulton). His bid to repeat last years performance will have to go through the likes of tour regulars Jason Barney, Davie Franek, Logan Crisafulli, Paulie Colagiovanni and many more. A whole host of marketing partners are what helps make such a unique event possible. While Pitre Painting has come on board to sponsor the whole week, Cooks Hardware (Can-Am), Advanced Electrical and Communications LLC (Utica-Rome), J&Z Snowdrifters (Brewerton), Goliath Holdings (Fulton) and Travis Racing Engines (Weedsport) will present the Dash throughout the week. Special CNY Speedweek merchandise will be available to purchase at the ESS apparel trailer in limited supply at each track throughout the week. Additional information for each night, including admission prices and an order of events, can be found on each track's website/social media pages, along with on the Empire Super Sprints social media pages. - Poirier Doubles Up On Weekend, Wins at Cornwall
By Curtis Berleue (Cornwall, ONT) | For the second time in as many nights, Jordan Poirier found himself in Empire Super Sprints victory lane on Sunday at Cornwall. Having now won 3 out of 5 contested ESS A-Mains, Poirier picked up $2,000 for his efforts on a Sunday night close to his hometown. Drawing the Pinnacle Pole Award was Davie Franek, who consequently led the field to green for the 25 lap main event. Franek jumped out to an early lead over 3rd-starting Joe Trenca and Bryan Cloutier. As the laps clicked away, Franek maintained his lead over the field. Behind him, Poirier was slowly but surely moving forward from his fourth starting spot. By lap 9, he had moved into sole possession of third, and just two laps later stole second, setting his sights on Franek. As the field closed in on 10 laps to go, Poirier closed in on Franek. By lap 17, Poirier had gotten by Franek and never looked back, picking up his third win of 2025. "I was really, really bad at the beginning of the feature," said Poirier. "I was so tight, I knew the top was going to come in at some point it was just a matter of at what point it would because the bottom was slicking off pretty quickly." "When Jason passed me, I thought I might have lost that spot at the beginning of the feature. But yeah, it feels good (to win), the car was great and such an awesome crowd here." For the second night in a row, Jason Barney finished second. "It was nice. That's three races in a row behind the 28," said Barney. I hate getting used to that, but he's doing a good job." "Starting tenth, I was just hoping to maintain to be honest, we caught a few breaks on the restarts, being in the right place at the right time. My car wasn't perfect to start, so that really helped." Rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third was Logan Crisafulli. "Yeah, it was definitely hard. I thought I got Davie (for third) coming to the white, but everyone's telling me it was coming to the checkers." 20 cars signed in for the second night of the Canadian swing for the Empire Super Sprints, splitting the field into three timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Alex Therrien, Jordan Poirier and Logan Crisafulli, while Elab Smokers Boutique heats were won by Davie Franek, Jordan Poirier and Logan Crisafulli. The next scheduled event for the Empire Super Sprints is the annual Central NY Speedweek. Paying $2,500 to win each night, the week gets started on Wednesday July 2 at the Can-Am Speedway in LaFargeville. Thursday will see a visit at the Utica-Rome Speedway, followed by Friday at Brewerton and Saturday at Fulton. The week caps off with the finale on Sunday July 6 at the Weedsport Speedway. - Poirier Picks up First Brockville ESS Win
By Curtis Berleue (Brockville, ONT) | For the second time in 2025, Jordan Poirier is a winner in Empire Super Sprints competition. Taking an early lead, the Quebec driver never looked back en-route to a $2,000 payday north of the border. Jason Barney drew the Pinnacle Pole Award, and thus led the field to the green flag. A multi-car pileup on the front stretch on the first lap meant a quick restart, and by lap 3 Poirier had gotten by Barney for the lead. After a handful of challenges from Barney, Poirier eventually extended his lead over the field to nearly two and a half seconds. Behind the lead duo, Paulie Colagiovanni was working his way up from his 6th starting position. On lap 12, Colagiovanni got by Logan Crisafulli for third, and set his sights on Barney in second. As laps ran out, ultimately neither Colagiovanni or Barney had anything for the competitors in front of them. Poirier crossed the line first for his second win of 2025 with the Empire Super Sprints, bringing his season win percentage to 50% through four races. "I never have won an ESS race here (Brockville), so it feels pretty good," said Poirier in victory lane. "We tried something with the car and it seemed to work. I guessed he (Barney) was trying to catch me so I ventured out from what I was doing." "It's been a good start to the year. Our GSR chassis is working super good. We did our homework this winter, and it just feels really good." Jason Barney would come home in second. "It's two races in a row that I've finished second," said Barney. "This one I just wasn't aggressive enough in the beginning of the race." "I felt comfortable on the bottom, and just kinda wanted to stay down there and make sure nobody slipped under me. I was just a little too easy." Paulie Colagiovanni rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium. "I'm just very thankful for Denny Peebles giving me the opportunity," said Colagiovanni. "I've never really run a Triple X. This is our fourth race with it - we're fine tuning it a little bit and I think we were almost just as good as Poirier." With 18 cars in the pits, the field was split into three timed hot lap groups. Joe Trenca, Dylan Swiernik and Logan Crisafulli earned Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards, while Davie Franek, Alex Therrien and Paulie Colagiovanni picked up Elab Smokers Boutique heat wins. The next scheduled event for the Empire Super Sprints is Sunday June 22nd at the Cornwall Motor Speedway in Cornwall, ONT.
