- Trenca Lands in Victory Lane at Fulton
By Curtis Berleue (Fulton, NY) | After a strong run resulting in a podium finish earlier this season at the Fulton Speedway, Joe Trenca backed up the performance with his first win of the season on Friday night as part of the Outlaw 200 weekend. Leading all 25 laps, the Clay, NY driver earned $2,000 for his efforts. By virtue of drawing the Pinnacle pole award, Trenca and Chase Moran would bring the field to green. Trenca jumped out to an early lead, with Jason Barney falling into second place behind him. Larry Wight quickly moved from his fifth starting position to claim the final podium spot for the time being. On lap 13, Wight was able to get by Barney to take control of second place, with Trenca still holding a one-second advantage on the field. Wight remained in second for a handful of laps, until a hard-charging Jordan Poirier was able to sneak by on lap 18. Poirier, who started in 7th, had been steadily making his way through the field. Out front, however, nobody had anything for Trenca as he crossed the checkers first, collecting his first win of 2025 and second career win at the Fulton Speedway. "It feels great (to be in victory lane)," said Trenca. "We needed that one, it's been a real tough year, the last 24 hours have been real tough. We've gone through a lot of adversity, and it feels great." Jordan Poirier, having just claimed the 2025 championship, came home in second. "I knew it was probably going to be a bottom dominant race track," said Poirier. "Barney went to the top (on the last restart), which is unusual so I took advantage of it." "I'm so happy for the Trenca crew though, we've been going racing with them for a long time and it feels good to finally see them win." The championship is Poirier's fourth overall and fourth in a row. "When I was watching (Uncle) Steve racing I was just hoping to win a race someday, let alone a championship. Now with four in a row, its just unreal." Rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium was Danny Varin, who cracked into the top three on lap 19 after starting in 13th. "We were working on this car all night, we weren't the greatest tonight but it's pretty good to be able to come from where we did," said Varin. "We just needed to start a little better." With 35 cars in the pits for the final points paying show of 2025, the field was split into four timed hot lap groups, with Larry Wight, Shawn Donath, Dillon Paddock and Jordan Poirier each earning Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards. Elab Smokers Boutique heat races were won by Matt Tanner, Jason Barney, Dylan Swiernik, and Jordan Poirier. Kyle Smith won the Lacaillade Masonry B-Main, while Danny Varin won the East Coast Sealcoat & Paving dash. The final on-track event for the Empire Super Sprints in 2025 is Friday October 17th at the Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY for the annual Hoag Memorial paying $4,000 to win. - Empire Super Sprints Round Out 2025 Points Season Friday at Fulton
By Curtis Berleue (Fulton, NY) | With just one point paying race left on the schedule, the Empire Super Sprints head to the Fulton Speedway this week as part of the annual Outlaw 200 weekend. Headlining the Friday night action, the stars and cars of the best 360 sprint car drivers in the northeast will compete for a $2,000 to win top prize. While Jordan Poirier has already locked up his third consecutive championship, the points battle behind him is very much alive going into the final night of action. Dylan Swiernik, who has had a breakout season thus far that includes winning the CNY Speedweek title, currently sits in second place with a 148-point advantage over Davie Franek in third. Behind Franek, Jason Barney sits fourth in points with Shawn Donath rounding out the top five. In two events completed at Fulton already in 2025, Shawn Donath was the most recent winner back on August 30. Dylan Swiernik picked up the CNY Speedweek win at the Oswego County oval on July 5. Both drivers look to cap off the 2025 season with a strong points finish, as each of them sit in the top five in points currently as well. - Jordan Thomas Wins $4,220 in Outlaw Fall Nationals
By Curtis Berleue (Dundee, NY) | After showing consistent speed throughout the 2025 season, Jordan Thomas finally broke through into ESS victory lane Friday at the Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY. Notching his third tour victory at the Yates County Oval, Thomas led 19 of 25 laps on his way to the $4,220 Cal Lane Memorial win. By virtue of drawing the Pinnacle Pole award, Jordan Hutton led the field to green alongside Jordan Thomas. Thomas would immediately take control of the field using the high side of the speedway, with third starting Jordan Poirier moving to second and Hutton settling into third. The lead trio remained the same until lap 14, when Jordan Hutton spun on the top side of turn two while working traffic. The ensuing restart allowed Poirier to sneak past Thomas, though his success was short lived as Thomas was able to get back by him to retake the lead just 6 laps later. Poirier's slide backwards continued two laps later, as eighth starting Davie Franek got by him with just three to go. Neither Franek nor Poirier ultimately had anything for Thomas though, as he got to the checkers first for his first tour win of 2025. "In the black slick we were no good," said Thomas in victory lane. "Once he (Poirier) got by me, he was struggling a little bit, I just had to be patient. Even when he was running the top, I could tell he couldn't carry the speed I was." "When we got back by him there, I was just hoping for the laps to count down and hold on." Davie Franek picked up the A-Verdi Storage Containers hard charger award by passing six cars and finishing second. "It was entertaining watching those two guys (Thomas and Poirier) go at it," said Franek. "I wish we didn't start eighth, I think we would have definitely been up there a little bit sooner." Rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium was Jordan Poirier. "We're not good here usually," said Poirier. "When I got the lead I was like 'Okay, we might have something here,' but I was just trying to conserve." "Its good to finally finish on the podium here at Outlaw, it's the first time. We had a good battle with Jordan (Thomas) there." With 17 cars in the pits, the field was split into two timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Jordan Hutton and Dylan Swiernik, while Elab Smokers Boutique heats were won by Davie Franek and Jonathan Preston. The next scheduled event for the Empire Super Sprints is Friday October 3rd at the Fulton Speedway in Futon, NY. - Dylan Swiernik Wins Fourth Race of 2025 at Drummond
By Curtis Berleue (Drummondville, QC) | In what could be considered a breakout year for Dylan Swiernik, he picked up his fourth win of the 2025 season on Saturday night at Autodrome Drummond. The Port Leyden, NY driver led early, and then re-took the lead on lap 24 after running the majority of the race in the runner-up position to earn a $3,000 pay day north of the border. Leading the field to green by virtue of drawing the Pinnacle pole award was the #7C of Dylan Swiernik. Swiernik would take the lead early, with Dale Gosselin in second. By lap six, however, Friday nights winner Alex Therrien was able to get by Swiernik and take command of the field. The lead duo would then run the next handful of laps in the same running order, with Therrien opening up over a one second advantage over Swiernik. Behind them, fellow Quebec driver Jordan Poirier had made quite a bit of headway in the first few laps. After starting 11th, Poirier went to seventh on lap two, and took hold of a podium spot on lap three, making it all the way up to third. As the laps wound down, Swiernik began to close the gap on Therrien. With just two laps remaining he was able to get by Therrien's #21 machine to re-claim the lead. Swiernik would go on to lead the final laps, and pick up his fourth win of 2025. Behind Swiernik, Alex Therrien finished second, while Jordan Poirier rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third. Danny Varin finished fourth, and Davie Franek completed the top five. With 23 cars signed into the pits, the field was split into three timed hot lap groups. - Therrien Dominates Granby for First ESS Win
By Curtis Berleue (Granby, QC) | For Alex Therrien, the two-race weekend in Quebec at Autodromes Granby and Drummond is always circled on his calendar as a weekend racing close to home. Friday night, it was not only a home game for the Victoriaville, Quebec driver, but it also marked his first Empire Super Sprints victory in front of a home crowd. By virtue of drawing the Pinnacle Pole Award, Mathieu Bardier brought the field to green alongside of Alex Therrien. Bardier led the field into turn one, but by the exit of turn two, Therrien had taken command of the field. A red flag with just one lap complete set the field up for a restart, and Therrien again jumped out to a lead, but this time with Joe Trenca in tow as he was able to get by Bardier for second. With 10 laps complete, Therrien had opened up over a straightaway lead and began working lap traffic. Trenca remained second, and Jason Barney had worked his way into a podium position. Just one lap later, Barney got by Trenca using the low side of the speedway to take possession of second. Dylan Swiernik, who had started 9th, was slowly making his way through the field. With 12 laps complete, he had made his way into the top ten, and four laps later he slipped by Trenca for third. With 9 laps remaining, he got by Barney for second and set his sights on Therrien. Therrien's lead, which had opened up to over three seconds, began shrinking, but Swiernik ran out of time and Therrien held on to pick up his first Empire Super Sprints victory. Behind Therrien, Dylan Swiernik crossed the line in second, and Jordan Poirier rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third, as he got by Barney with just a handful of laps remaining. 21 cars signed in for action on Friday at Granby, splitting the field into three timed hot lap groups. Dale Curran, Dylan Swiernik, and Shawn Donath earned Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards. In Elab Smokers Boutique heat race action, Matt Tanner, Dylan Swiernik and Davie Franek all picked up victories. The next scheduled event for the Empire Super Sprints is Saturday August 23rd at the Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, QC. - Empire Super Sprints Head to Quebec Next
By Curtis Berleue (Granby, QC) | The month of August is winding down, and that can only mean one thing for the Empire Super Sprints: a trip north of the border to Quebec. This weekend, the touring 360 sprint cars will make their way to Autodrome Granby in Granby, QC on Friday, followed by Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, QC on Saturday. An enhanced purse structure for this weekend has been published, making both events $3,000 to win and $500 to start. Tow money has also been made available, paying $500 per eligible tour regular per night and $350 for all other drivers. The event Friday night will also be a special 28 laps, as Granby honors all time ESS win leader (77) and eight-time champion (tied for first) Steve Poirier. In last years trip to Quebec, it was two-time champion Jason Barney who picked up the win at Granby, and another two-time champion Jordan Poirier who picked up the win at Drummond. With the extra money on the line, a stout field of drivers has already committed to this weekend's trip north. Atop the point standings, Jordan Poirier currently leads Dylan Swiernik, having amassed four wins and 16 top tens thus far in 2025. Third belongs to Davie Franek, with Jason Barney and Shawn Donath rounding out the top five. For a complete list of entry prices and gate times, along with a nightly event schedule, visit each tracks web page and social media pages, along with the Empire Super Sprints social media pages. Those unable to attend Fridays event at Granby can stream all of the action live on Flo Racing. - Colagiovanni Wins at Brockville
By Curtis Berleue (Brockville, ONT) | For the first time this season, 2019 tour champion Paulie Colagiovanni found his way back to victory lane in Empire Super Sprints competition on Saturday at Brockville. After a handful of second-place finished, Colagiovanni was able to take the lead on lap thee and not look back, en-route to a $2,000 win north of the border. Pinnacle Pole Award winner Rick Wilson would take the early lead in the A-Main over Trevor Years. On lap three, a caution slowed the field and on the ensuing restart Paulie Colagiovanni was able to slip by both Years and Wilson to take the lead. As the laps wound down, Colagiovanni opened his lead to nearly half a track. Behind Colagiovanni, Friday nights second-place finisher Davie Franek had worked his way into the runner-up position but was unable to close the gap between them. For the first time in 2025, Colagiovanni crossed the line first, picking up $2,000 and a trip to victory lane. "It feels great to get a win for Denny, and the whole Denny Peebles Racing team, it's just awesome," said Colagiovanni in victory lane. "We definitely struggled a little bit with this chassis in the beginning of the year, we just didn't have the amount of track time we needed to fine tune it." Davie Franek was once again a bridesmaid, bringing home his second runner-up position on the weekend. "The start just kind of messed me up there," said Franek. "I felt really good, he (Paulie) just kind of got out there in clean air and he could maneuver a little better." Rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium was Jordan Poirier in third. "It was a little difficult to pass cars without a cushion, I was really hoping for a cushion tonight," said Poirier. "Finishing third after last night feels really good though." With 18 cars in the pits, the field was split into three timed hot lap groups, with Rifenburg Fast Time awards going to Dylan Swiernik, Davie Franek and Jason Barney. Swiernik, Franek and Barney also picked up Elab Smokers Boutique heat wins, while Joe Trenca won the L.A. Kapp Inc. dash. The next scheduled event for the Empire Super Sprints is Friday August 22 at the Autodrome Granby in Granby, Quebec. - Donath Wins First of 2025 at Can-Am
By Curtis Berleue (LaFargeville, NY) | For the first time in 2025, Shawn Donath picked up the $2,000 win in Empire Super Sprints competition on Friday night at the Can-Am Speedway in LaFargeville, NY. It was his first victory at the northern NY oval since 2014. Tyler Rand and Jordan Poirier led the field to green for 25 laps, and as the field completed lap one it was Poirier with the lead, followed by Davie Franek and Rand. Utilizing the extreme outside line of the speedway, Poirier quickly opened up a straightaway lead over the rest of the field. By lap 7, Poirier had reached the back of the field, which allowed Franek to close the gap slightly. Behind them, Shawn Donath had managed to work his way around Joe Trenca for third. A handful of laps later, Donath used the low side of the track to pull even with Franek, and slide him for position exiting turn four. His efforts were short lived, however, as Alex Therrien used the same move on Donath in the next set of corners, taking second and setting his sights on fellow Quebec driver Poirier. Therrien was able to catch Poirier and take the lead as the duo crossed the line to complete lap 16. While Therrien opened his lead, Donath was able to get by Poirier for second. With three to go, Donath had caught Therrien and made his move to take the lead off of turn four. Despite a late race charge from Franek, Shawn Donath held on to take his first win of 2025. "Kudos to Tyler and his team, what a great race track," said Donath in victory lane. "After that first start I was third and I knew we had a good car, it just took a little bit to get rolling." Davie Franek crossed the line in second. "Shawn was good, I wish I moved down a little bit earlier, it started getting sticky down there with some rubber," said Franek. "I probably could have pushed the envelope going into three there at the end, but on a two day weekend you don't want to have to pull your backup car down." Alex Therrien held on to round out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third. "I made some mistakes at the end of the race, it's my fault for losing the lead," said Therrien of his third place finish. 22 cars signed in on Friday night at Can-Am, and as such the field was split into three timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Davie Franek, Logan Crisafulli and Paulie Colagiovanni, and Elab Smokers Boutique heat races were won by Franek, Dalton Rombough and Jordan Poirier. The Cooks Family Diner Dash was won by Matt Tanner. The next scheduled event for the Empire Super Sprints is Saturday August 2nd at the Brockville Ontario Speedway in Brockville, ONT. - Hebing Tames Highbanks of Woodhull Raceway
By Curtis Berleue (Woodhull, NY) | Though only running a limited schedule in 2025, Chuck Hebing once again found his way to victory lane at the highbanks of the Woodhull Raceway on Saturday night. 'The Cobra' added one more to his win total, breaking a tie for third with Lance Yonge on the all-time Empire Super Sprints feature win list with his 40th victory. Jason Barney drew the Pinnacle Pole Award and thus led the field to green alongside of Hebing. Hebing used his outside starting position to his advantage, and immediately opened lead over Shawn Donath and Barney. As the laps clicked off, Hebing, Donath and Barney began to separate themselves from the rest of the field. By lap 10, Hebing had reached the back of the field, beginning to navigate lap traffic. Behind Hebing and Donath, Barney, Davie Franek and Jordan Poirier were having a spirited battle for the final podium spot, with Poirier emerging with possession of third place on lap 15. For the second straight night, a non-stop feature with a total run time of less than 7 minutes took place, and ultimately Donath nor Poirier had anything for Hebing as he picked up the win. "Woodhull has been awful good to me over the years," said Hebing in victory lane. "The moisture they put on it made it kinda locked down, but it awas good." "I wanted to retire again, so this is a good way to do it. We had a good career, we'll do some boating now." Shawn Donath picked up a second place finish. "These guys gave me a heck of a racecar," said Donath. "I didn't think anyone was going to try the bottom, but with the conditions they were dealt today, they did a great job with the track." Jordan Poirier finished third, rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium. "We're pretty happy with third, we have struggled here in the past," said Poirier. "We started sixth which is pretty deep, I didn't know how much the track was going to widen out with the water they put on it before the feature but it was actually super racey." With the threat of rain all night, the field was split into two timed hot lap groups with Dylan Swiernik and Jared Zimbardi earning Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards. Elab Smokers Boutique heat wins went to Dylan Swiernik and Davie Franek, and Trevor Years won the Cobra Motorhomes & Trailers dash presented by Grimes Dairy Equipment. - Franek Wins Empire Super Sprints Outlaw Summer Nationals
By Curtis Berleue (Dundee, NY) | For the second time in two years, Davie Franek picked up a $4,000 victory at the Outlaw Speedway on Friday night. Last years Outlaw Fall Nationals winner once again found victory lane at the Dundee oval, this time leading every lap in a non-stop feature in the Outlaw Summer Nationals worth $4,000. By virtue of drawing the Pinnacle Pole award, Joe Trenca and Davie Franek led the field to green. As the field reached turn one, it was Franek with the advantage. Behind Franek, Jordan Poirier made quick work of the four cars in front of him, moving from his sixth place starting spot into second behind Franek. Dalton Rombough followed in third. Two laps later, Rombough was able to sneak by Poirier to take second. The lead duo would remain the same for the next several laps, all working the high side of the speedway. Behind the leaders, Dylan Swiernik was putting in work, making his way through the field from his eleventh starting spot. Without a caution to slow the pace, Swiernik had made it into the top three on lap 19, but the lead duo of Franek and Rombough remained unchanged, and Franek took the checkers first in a green-to-checkers run of the A-Main that totaled just six minutes and forty seconds in length. "The track was great," said Franek in victory lane. "We didn't qualify that good, in the heat race we changed some things and then we really didn't do that much for the feature." "To be honest, we've been struggling the last month with the new tires, we've kind of got a balance now though and I feel like we will be pretty good from here on out." Dalton Rombough came home second. "The car was really good, I just couldn't get through lap traffic like him (Franek)," said Rombough. I struggled on the bottom, and I feel like if we could get a little better there we would be in the winners circle." Rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third was Dylan Swiernik. "Without having a caution, to come up there to third was good," said Swiernik. "To come from tenth or eleventh, wherever we came from, we'll take it. I think this is our fifth or sixth straight top three finish so we're on a roll right now, just trying to keep the momentum going." 20 cars signed into the pits Friday night, splitting the field into three timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Jordan Thomas, Shawn Donath and Dylan Swiernik, while Joe Trenca, Davie Franek and Dylan Swiernik picked up Elab Smokers Boutique heat wins. The Cobra Motorhomes & Trailers Dash presented by Lanes Yamaha was won by Keith Granholm. - Outlaw, Woodhull To Close Out July for Empire Super Sprints
By Curtis Berleue (Dundee, NY) | As the month of July comes to a close, the Empire Super Sprints are rapidly closing in on the half-way point of their 2025 season. To finish off the month, two more events are on tap, with a trip to the Outlaw Speedway this Friday, followed by the tour's lone stop at the Woodhull Raceway on Saturday. Friday night, the Empire Super Sprints will compete in the annual Outlaw Summer Nationals, boasting one of the highest paydays of the season with $4,010.10 to the winner on the line commemorating the 10th running of the event. This will be the first of four scheduled stops at the Yates County oval, as the event scheduled in April fell to Mother Nature. Last July, it was Matt Tanner who picked up the Outlaw Summer Nationals, and he will be looking to repeat that feat this weekend. Saturday night, the tour moves just south to the Woodhull Raceway. Dubbed 'New Yorks Toughest Bullring', the high banks of the Woodhull Raceway always provide some of the best action on the schedule. In 2024, Jared Zimbardi picked up the win at Woodhull over Billy VanInwegen and Jason Barney. Additional support on the weekend will come from Lanes Yamaha and Grimes Dairy equipment. Both companies have signed on as the presenting sponsor of the Cobra Dash Series dash's this weekend, with Lanes Yamaha presenting the dash Friday at Outlaw, and Grimes Dairy Equipment supporting Saturday's dash at Woodhull. The points standings remain largely unchanged after last weekends events at Albany-Saratoga and Fonda, with Jordan Poirier still atop the leaderboard with a 160 point advantage over Dylan Swiernik. Jason Barney sits in third, with Paulie Colagiovanni fourth and Davie Franek rounding out the top five. For a full list of gate times and admission prices to both events this weekend, please be sure to visit the Outlaw Speedway and Woodhull Raceway social media pages and websites, along with the Empire Super Sprints social media pages. - Varin Tops ESS Field at Fonda
By Curtis Berleue (Fonda, NY) | For the ninth time in the last ten visits to the Fonda Speedway for the Empire Super Sprints, it was Danny Varin in victory lane. The nearly unbeatable driver from just down the road added yet another victory to his win tally on Saturday night, picking up another Earl Halaquist Memorial at the 'Track of Champions' worth $2,000. Pinnacle Pole Award recipient Paulie Colagiovanni led the field to green alongside of Jordan Thomas for the 25 lap event. Colagiovanni looked to have the lead as the field entered turn one, but by the time they hit the backstretch it was Danny Varin in command of the field, coming from his third starting spot. Varin opened his lead up to almost a half-straight almost immediately, with Colagiovanni, Jordan Poirier, Davie Franek and Thomas in tow. By lap 8, Varin caught the back of the field and had just begun to work lap traffic when the caution flew for a spinning Mike Kiser in turn two. When the green flag flew again, Varin again began building his lead over the rest of the field. Behind the top three, it was Shawn Donath who was putting on a show, having passed multiple cars using the extreme high side of the speedway and working his way up to fourth. His success was short lived, as he ultimately ventured just a little too high off of turn two, catching the wall and flipping with just 7 laps remaining. As action resumed, Varin again paced the field over Colagiovanni and Poirier. Dylan Swiernik was making a late-race charge, and with just four laps to go he got by both Poirier and Colagiovanni using the same line Donath had been working just laps earlier. Making a late charge, Swiernik got within three car lengths of Varin on the last lap, but Varin was able to hang on to capture his second Empire Super Sprints win of 2025. "I didn't think that this was going to happen tonight," said Varin. "We weren't very good in the heat race, didn't really feel like we could roll around people. You had to just hit your marks perfect and not make mistakes." After starting eighth, Dylan Swiernik made a late race charge but came up one spot short of victory lane. "We started off a little too tight, had too much fuel and didn't have the balance we wanted," said Swiernik. "When that red came out, I was able to kinda reset in my mind and pull the wing forward, tell myself I knew what I needed to do on the top side." Jordan Poirier rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium, finishing third and marking his second podium finish in as many nights. The field was split into two timed hot lap groups, with Danny Varin and Jordan Poirier earning Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards. Elab Smokers Boutique heat wins went to Paulie Colagiovanni and Jordan Poirier, while Joe Trenca picked up the win in the One Zee Tees dash. The next scheduled event for the Empire Super Sprints is this coming Friday July 25th at the Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY for the Outlaw Summer Nationals paying $4,000 to win. - Poirier Back in Victory Lane at Albany-Saratoga
By Curtis Berleue (Malta, NY) | For the fourth time in 2025, Jordan Poirier is an Empire Super Sprints winner. Though he started on the pole, it was far from an easy night for the Quebec driver as he held off multiple charges from Paulie Colagiovanni and Danny Varin en-route to his $2,000 victory. Jordan Poirier and Jeff Trombley brought the field to the initial green flag, and it was Poirier who grabbed the early lead. Paulie Colagiovanni followed in his tracks to take second, but Trombley fought back to reclaim the runner-up spot. Behind the lead trio, Shawn Donath was comfortably in fourth with Danny Varin just behind in fifth. After 5 laps, Trombley came under fire once again from Colagiovanni, with Colagiovanni clearing the #3A of Trombley via a slide job in turns one and two. As Poirier caught lap traffic, Colagiovanni was catching him and by lap 9 Colagiovanni was right on his tail tank. He wasn't able to make anything of his hard work though, as the caution flew for Jeff Trombley who had slowed in turn four. On the ensuing restart, Poirier again jumped out to the lead with Colagiovanni and now Danny Varin in tow for third. A handful of laps later, Colagiovanni was again within striking distance of Poirier and cleared a slide job in turns one and two. His lead was short lived, however, as Poirier was able to turn back under Colagiovanni and re-take the lead down the backstretch. A late race restart would allow Danny Varin to get by Colagiovanni, and for the next few laps the duo would trade sliders for second until Varin mis-stepped on the cushion in turn two and went over the bank, bringing out another caution. With a clear track in front of him, nobody was able to catch Poirier who picked up his fourth win of 2025. "I knew he (Colagiovanni) was good up top early in the night," said Poirier. "I was cheating the cushion a little bit and then I started hearing him so I tried to venture up a little bit more." "My car was really good on the cushion, I thought 3 & 4 was going away at some point, but I just didn't want to miss out by going to the bottom and then it stayed good up top all race." Paulie Colagiovanni held on to second for his season-best finish thus far. "I thought I had a run on Jordan coming into three and four and I was going to slide him, but the caution came out," said Colagiovanni. "Every time the caution came out after that a couple of cars just got under me but I'm glad we hung on for second." Dylan Swiernik continued his strong season with another podium finish, rounding out the top three. "This is probably our favorite place to come to on the calendar," said Swiernik. "To come from twelfth to third here, we'll take it and move on to Fonda tomorrow." 24 cars signed into the pits on Friday night at Albany-Saratoga, and as such the field was split into three timed hot lap groups. Jason Barney, Danny Varin and Jordan Thomas earned Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards, while Barney, Davie Franek and Paulie Colagiovanni won Elab Smokers Boutique heat races. The We Know Tools dash was won by Kyle Smith. The next scheduled event for the Empire Super Sprints is Saturday July 19th at the Fonda Speedway in Fonda, NY. For the fourth time in 2025, Jordan Poirier is an Empire Super Sprints winner. Though he started on the pole, it was far from an easy night for the Quebec driver as he held off multiple charges from Paulie Colagiovanni and Danny Varin en-route to his $2,000 victory.

- Albany-Saratoga, Fonda On Deck for Empire Super Sprints
By Curtis Berleue (Malta, NY) | After a much-deserved weekend off following a grueling 2025 CNY Speedweek, the Empire Super Sprints are set to spring back into action this weekend. With their only trip of the season to the far-eastern side of New York, the tour will stop Friday at the Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, NY and Saturday at the Fonda Speedway in Fonda, NY. Friday's visit to Albany-Saratoga will be the 35 ESS event at the 4/10 mile oval, with the first event dating all the way back to July 13, 1985 when Gordy Button picked up the win. Recently, it was Danny Varin in victory lane, winning last year's stop just north of the state capital. Saturday, the tour heads an hour down the road to the Fonda Speedway for the annual Earl Halaquist Memorial. Earl Halaquist Memorial was one of the most accomplished sprint car drivers in the Northeast in his time. Competing across NY, NJ, PA, VA, NC, MD VT, Canada and more, Halaquist amassed 53 URC wins and six championships. Halaquist, a World War II veteran, was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, IA in 2000 before his passing in 2001. While there have been 15 different winners in 28 events at the Fonda Speedway through the years, recently it has been almost all Danny Varin in victory lane. Varin has won every ESS event at the track since August of 2017 with the exception of 2023 when Shawn Donath spoiled the streak for a total of 8 wins in 9 starts. All eyes will be on the tour's most recent winner to see if he can go 9 for 10 on Saturday. After 5 races in 5 nights through CNY Speedweek, the year-end points battle is starting to take shape. Defending champion Jordan Poirier still sits atop the standings with 1133 points, and Speedweek champion Dylan Swiernik is in second with 982 points. Jason Barney follows with 913 points in third, while Paulie Colagiovanni (857 points) and Logan Crisafulli (854 points) complete the top five.
