  2021 Salute to Indy Champion Brody Roa Returns to Action in Perris on Saturday

  Cypress, CA - May 22, 2026 — The long wait is finally over! Brody Roa, the 2021 Salute to Indy champion, will make his 2026 sprint car debut this Saturday when Heimark Distributors presents the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars in the 73rd running of the race at Perris Auto Speedway. Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. and the night's first race will get the green flag at 7:00. Roa, who, in addition to winning the 2021 Salute to Indy also proudly has the 2016 USAC Western States Sprint Car Championship, the 2019 USAC Southwest Sprint Car title, and the 2023 USAC/CRA Championship on his resume, last raced a sprint car the first week of last November in 2025. His only race since then was the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals in January. Needless to say, he is excited to get behind the wheel of his 410 sprinter on Saturday. "Is that all ?" Roa laughed when it was pointed out that he had not been in a sprint car for six months. "It feels like it has been three years at this point. I think it is kind of like riding a bike. Being out of a car for six months, I did it in 2024 and 2025, and I did it again this year. I hope we run up front and have a good run. Obviously, with this engine, that is new to us, we have to try and get things tuned how I like it. Make sure it runs good and find out what it likes. Hopefully, we can get that sorted out by the feature." The engine the Garden Grove, California racer referred to is an All Pro 410 he purchased out of Indiana. In fact, he picked the engine up at the Chili Bowl and Dan Chiaramonte brought it back to California for Roa. The initial plan was hoping to be on the track sooner than now. However, there were problems. "It had issues when we put it on the dyno," Roa glumly stated. "It has been six months in the making since we bought it. Getting parts together and getting money back together for something I just bought. At least it gave me some time to save up to pay Shaver. Those guys always do good work. I am glad it went through them. They took care of us pretty good on this thing. I am confident in what we have now." This week started with Roa vacationing at the River with his wife, Tailor, and their two daughters. His father Brent, picked up the engine at Shavers. Roa returned home Thursday night with plans for installing the engine on Friday. "Felt like it was not going to happen for a while there," Roa laughed about how excited he was to be getting back on the track. "I am super excited to get back out there. The Salute to Indy is very cool. I would put it up there as one of the most important races on my schedule. It has been going on for a long time, and there is a lot of history to it. It was pretty cool to get that win a couple of years ago." "Really, my expectations are to show up to win," he continued. "I have always said if I do not think I can win I am done doing this. If that was not my goal, I would not even be showing up." Overall, the likable veteran made 10 starts on the famous Riverside County half-mile clay oval in 2025. He finished eighth or better nine times and recorded four top-five finishes, including a victory on October 18th. An addition to this release: As reported in the news in Los Angeles on Friday, a chemical leak caused the evacuation of 40,000 people in Garden Grove, the city where Roa lives. He lives about 1,000 feet outside the evacuation area. Tailor and their daughters immediately headed back to the river.   After Fifth and Sixth Place Finishes in Arizona, Eddie Tafoya Returns to SoCal for Salute to Indy at Perris

  Chino Hills, CA — May 20, 2026 — Making his first starts since undergoing hand surgery three weeks earlier, Eddie Tafoya Jr. came away from Central Arizona Speedway with fifth- and sixth-place finishes in the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series. This week, the veteran driver returns closer to home when he competes in the 73rd Salute to Indy at Perris Auto Speedway. Tafoya's surgery sidelined him for the May 2 race at the Ventura Raceway. However, he looked comfortable and fully healed throughout the weekend in Arizona. After focusing on improving his qualifying efforts heading into the event, he did exactly that on Friday by steering the handsome #51T to the fourth-fastest time in the 22-car field with a lap of 16.257. He followed that up with a fourth-place finish in his heat race, earning a favorable starting spot near the front for the 30-lap main event. Fortunately for Tafoya, who resides in Chino Hills, California, he stayed near the front throughout the feature because, behind the lead pack, the race often resembled a demolition derby. The event was plagued by crashes along with numerous yellow and red flags, eventually forcing officials to shorten the race to 20 laps. Tafoya started third and ran in fourth for most of the contest. Following a tremendous battle that earned praise from third-place finisher Austin Williams, who complimented Tafoya for "driving him clean," Tafoya crossed the line in fifth, just a car length behind the third- and fourth-place finishers. Saturday at the track, located not far from the USA/Mexico border, brought typical Arizona scorcher conditions. Blustery winds throughout the day created even more challenging track conditions than the previous night. Tafoya, 28, turned in a qualifying lap of 16.628, good enough for seventh fastest in the 26-car field. He advanced from fourth to second in his heat race and rolled off ninth in the 30-lap main event. Due to the weather conditions, the track was anything but easy to navigate. Even so, Tafoya steadily worked his way forward and climbed to fifth by the midway point of the race. While he had the speed to continue advancing, the bottom groove became the only viable racing line in the second half of the event. Tafoya stayed committed to the low line and ultimately brought home a sixth-place finish. The result gave him seven top-six finishes in seven starts in 2026. "One month out of surgery and back in the top five," Tafoya told his Facebook followers. "Solid weekend with USAC/CRA. The 51T had podium speed this weekend, just needed a little more down the stretch. Ready for more this weekend at Perris Auto Speedway." Saturday will mark Tafoya's sixth appearance in the Salute to Indy, one of the longest-running sprint car races in the country. Last season, he finished ninth in the prestigious event, which was first staged in 1948. His best finishes in the race came in 2022 and 2024, when he placed eighth.   Perris Auto Speedway Welcomes Back a Familiar Face and a New One for Saturday's Salute to Indy

  Perris, California — May 19, 2026 — When Heimark Distributors presents the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars for the Salute to Indy this Saturday night, May 23, fans will be thrilled to see the return of a longtime favorite and the debut of an exciting young newcomer. The familiar face is Brody Roa, winner of the 2021 Salute to Indy. The new face is local teenager Drake Cardey, who currently leads the USAC Western Midget Championship standings. "It will be great to see Brody back on the track," promoter Don Kazarian said on Tuesday. "He is a great driver who always shows up with his equipment immaculately prepared and ready to win. On top of everything else, he is great with the fans. He will be a welcome addition to the field on Saturday." Roa, who lives in Garden Grove, California, has not raced since competing in the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in January. He has not driven a sprint car since recording a sixth-place finish nearly seven months ago at The PAS. Overall, the likable veteran made 10 starts on the famous Riverside County half-mile clay oval in 2025. He finished eighth or better nine times and recorded four top-five finishes, including a victory on October 18th. Roa has been sidelined this season while waiting for work to be completed on a new-to-him 410 engine. With that work now finished, the 2021 Salute to Indy winner, 2023 USAC/CRA Champion, 2019 USAC Southwest Champion, and 2016 USAC West Coast Champion will be ready to contend for the victory on Saturday night. On the other side of the coin is teenager Cardey, who lives in Riverside, California. While he will be making his sprint car debut in one of Tom and Christy Dunkel's Inland Rigging cars on Saturday, the Cardey name has been a familiar one at The PAS since 2003. That year, his father, David, went undefeated at the track on his way to the California Lightning Sprint Car Championship. In addition, his mother, Danita, has a section of the grandstands named after her. The effervescent teen is no stranger to racing. In fact, quite the opposite. He has competed in pavement and dirt karts, Speedway Sprints at Wheel2Wheel Raceway in Victorville, lightning sprints, and midgets. Last season, he raced in the California Lightning Sprint Car Series, where he captured Rookie of the Year honors and finished second in the championship point standings. This season, he is a rookie in the USAC Western States Midget Series. In only his fourth start with the series, he scored a victory at Imperial Valley Raceway. Through five races, he has also recorded two runner-up finishes, a fourth-place result, and an eighth-place finish.   Tafoya Set for Return at Central Arizona Following Hand Surgery

  Chino Hills, CA — May 14, 2026 — Three weeks after undergoing hand surgery, Eddie Tafoya Jr. is set to return to action this Friday and Saturday, May 15 and 16, when the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series invades Central Arizona Raceway. The pair of races on the fast 3/8-mile clay oval will mark the first of three races in a nine-day stretch for the Chino Hills, California standout. Located approximately 50 miles south of Phoenix, Central Arizona Speedway has quickly become a favorite stop for racers and fans alike. The modern dirt track is known for its wide racing surface, multiple grooves, and intense wheel-to-wheel competition that often produces some of the most exciting racing on the USAC/CRA schedule. Three days after competing at Central Arizona on April 21st, Tafoya underwent surgery to repair an injury he suffered at Perris Auto Speedway last August. The operation was successful, but it forced the popular driver to miss the May 2nd USAC/CRA race at Ventura Raceway. Now fully healed and eager to get back behind the wheel, Tafoya is ready to resume his strong 2026 campaign. In his last appearance at the Arizona oval, Tafoya qualified seventh fastest in a competitive 19-car field. After finishing third in his heat race, he rolled off from the seventh starting spot in the 30-lap main event. Early in the race, the 28-year-old battled fiercely to maintain a spot in the top 10. As the laps wound down, however, he became one of the fastest cars on the track. Charging through the field in the closing stages, Tafoya stormed all the way to fourth before ultimately finishing fifth at the checkered flag. Through his first five starts of the 2026 season, he has yet to finish worse than sixth and has already recorded three top-five finishes. His best result came in the USAC/CRA season opener at Mohave Valley Raceway on February 28th, where he scored an impressive third-place finish. Following this weekend's action in the "Copper State," Tafoya will return home to Perris Auto Speedway for one of the longest-running sprint car races in the world, the historic Salute to Indy on May 23rd. The prestigious event, which dates back to 1948, has long been one of the crown jewels of sprint car racing in the world.   Night of Destruction Returns Saturday With $1,000 to Win Figure 8 and Demo Cross Main Events!

  Perris, California — May 14, 2026 — The "Craziest Show on Dirt," Night of Destruction, returns to Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday, May 16, at 7:00 p.m. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Early arriving fans can meet all of the drivers and see the cars up close during the candy giveaway and autograph session on the track from 5:15-6:00 p.m. Night of Destruction last appeared at the track on April 25. Unfortunately, rain canceled the final two races of the night — the Figure 8 and Demo Cross main events. That created a unique situation for this Saturday. Since both classes completed their heat races that night but did not get to contest their main events, this Saturday's main event purses in those divisions will double. He won the first two races of the year and carries a six-point lead over Whittier's Douglas Schattilly in the championship chase. Lane Hoffarth of San Jacinto, who competes in four of the five Night of Destruction classes, is third, 15 points behind the leader. Another San Jacinto racer, Trebor Stephens, has a win and a second-place finish in the first two Demo Cross mains of the season. The 2023 and 2024 class champion leads Chino's Mike Brown by nine points coming into Saturday's race. Riverside's Austin Kinnane, who won the season-opening race, is third. Whittier's Michael Schattilly, the 2023 and 2024 Figure 8 Trailer Race champion, won the first two class mains of the season. Three weeks ago, last year's Iron Man Champion (all classes combined), Rob Multhaupt Jr. of Orange, won the F8T main before the rain became to heavy and washed out the Figure 8 and Demo Cross mains. Schattilly leads the standings heading into Saturday, with Lane Hoffarth Jr. and Multhaupt deadlocked for second, 12 points behind. Last year's champion, Hoffarth Sr., is fourth. The Mini Stock class features a unique situation, with the Green family occupying four of the top five spots in the championship standings. Leading the way is 2024 champion Steven Green Sr. of Lake Elsinore. Brodey Green of Riverside is second. The only non-member of the Green family in the top five is second-year Night of Destruction competitor Isaac Salazar of Mentone. Rounding out the program will be the popular Double Deckers. The "Hot Diggity Dodge" has won two of the first three main events of the season and leads the three-time champion "Bug Ya' Later" by three points. The "Ghost Busters" car is third.   Perris Auto Speedway Hosts $2,000.00-to-Win Street Stock Race on May 23!

  Perris, California — May 11, 2026 — In addition to hosting one of the longest-running sprint car races, the 73rd Salute to Indy, on May 23, Perris Auto Speedway will also host a $2,000.00-to-win Street Stock race on the same night. It will be the highest-paying stock car race at the longtime Southern California racing facility in several years. The race came at the suggestion of PASSCAR Street Stock owners and track champions Chris Leventis and Shaun Estes. Originally planned for last month, the race was moved to the Memorial Day weekend show and will now be staged alongside the Salute to Indy, which began in 1948 when it was won by four-time Indianapolis 500 starter Dempsey Wilson. "Car owners Chris Leventis and Shawn Estes got the ball rolling by putting some extra cash up for grabs," promoter Don Kazarian said. "They want to get some more cars out there, so they put up some extra prize money. Hopefully, we will see some cars out there that have not been with us in a while. So far, they are reporting that there is a lot of extra interest from cars that race at other tracks. It is going to be a good addition to the Salute to Indy." Leventis, who lives in Rancho Palos Verdes, began racing in the 1980s and competed at world-famous Ascot Park in Gardena. He then took a long time away from racing to raise his two sons. Since returning, he captured the PASSCAR Street Stock championships in 2022 and 2023. He will be fielding cars for his son, George and five-time PAS champion Billy Griffin of Buena Park. Estes, a longtime PAS competitor, won his first PASSCAR Street Stock title in 2012. Thirteen years later, in 2025, he captured the crown for the second time. He will be fielding cars for his sons-in-law, Chad Mahony, and Morgan Rowland, as well as for himself in the 25-lap main event. "Hopefully it draws a crowd (of drivers)," Leventis said last week. "We are just trying to get these guys to come back out. With the price of fuel and everything, it is hard. We feel we are putting a pretty good purse out there. I have heard from guys from Bakersfield, back east, Arizona, and Barona." On top of the regular purse, Leventis and Estes each put up an extra $1,000.00. Stefan Davies, the 2011 track Street Stock champion, added another $500.00. Likewise, the grandmother of one of Estes' sons-in-law, added $500.00 as well. The initial $2,000.00 will go to the winner, with the remainder being spread throughout the field. "It is going to be interesting," Leventis continued. "Stefan (Davies) is going to come out. Blaine (Whitson, who owns three PAS championships) is coming out. I think Tom Smith (another PAS multi champion) is coming. Justin Dunn is coming, a couple guys from Bakersfield are coming, some guys from Arizona are coming. Mohave is closed down for the summer months, so we might get a bunch of cars from there, too." "I ran back in the day," said Leventis, who would still like to be out there racing. "Then I had a couple of kids. I pulled away (from racing) to take care of the kids. When they grew up to a certain age, I got back into it. It is still fun. I would still like to be doing it, but the doctor said no more. So I enjoy watching George, Billy, and everyone run.   Tafoya Places Fifth in Arizona — Eyes Return on May 16 After Hand Surgery

  Chino Hills, CA — May 5, 2026 — Eddie Tafoya Jr. recorded another impressive fifth-place finish when the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series visited the Central Arizona Speedway on April 18th. The talented veteran driver, who underwent hand surgery three days after the race, plans on returning to USAC/CRA action when the series visits the same track on May 16th. Tafoya, who will turn 29 in July and who has yet to finish outside the top six in five starts in 2026, began the night in the Copper State by qualifying seventh fastest in the 19-car field. That placed the veteran driver in the third starting spot in the first heat race. He maintained that position throughout the race, guaranteeing himself at least a seventh-place starting spot in the main event. Unfortunately for the Chino Hills, California-based driver, the six cars who qualified ahead of him also finished in the top four spots in their respective heat races. Had even one of them not done so, Tafoya would have started on the pole for the 30-lap main. Instead, he was relegated to the seventh starting spot. During the early stages of the race, Tafoya found himself battling for ninth. However, around the halfway point, he began charging toward the front of the field, and it quickly became clear he was one of the fastest cars on the track. He steadily worked his way forward. With less than three laps remaining, he briefly raced into fourth before ultimately finishing fifth at the checkered flag. "That was the first race back with that motor I had in there," Tafoya said about the Central Arizona event. "Qualifying I was a little hesitant. It would have been better if I was one spot faster and started on the front row. The more laps I was doing the more comfortable I was getting. Just figuring out how much throttle I could put into it and reading the track. Definitely, the car setup came in later." "Towards the end I was coming on pretty strong. I think I could have gotten a couple more. I looked at some of the lap times and my best lap was on lap 23. Nobody else's was better after lap 13. I definitely had something for them at the end." "Yeah, for sure," Tafoya responded when asked if the recent performances were giving him more confidence. "I have been just trying to stay pretty steady and have a good night as a whole rather than just parts of the night. I guess the last piece is just starting a little farther forward. I will put a little extra emphasis on qualifying and see what it does for us." Three days after the Central Arizona race, Tafoya underwent surgery to repair damage done to his hand in a crash at Perris last season. The surgery kept him out of last Saturday's race at Ventura Raceway. However, he plans to be back in the cockpit at Central Arizona when the USAC/CRA Series returns on the 15th and 16th of this month. He will follow that up with the prestigious Salute to Indy at Perris Auto Speedway on Labor Day Weekend. "The crash, I just must have hit the metal roll cage over by the in and out shifter," Tafoya said before his surgery. "It was just like a bunch of built up and left over tissue from a hematoma. Last year I was waiting until the end of the season to get it done. Then I had to wait more and more to get it done. Just all kinds of stuff." "It has been good," Tafoya said last week about the surgery. "I have been on some pain killers. I will have stitches in until around the fifth." It all kicks off on May 16 when the spectacle known as the "Craziest Show on Dirt" — Night of Destruction — comes crashing back into town. One week later, on May 23rd, the thunder returns in a big way as the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars invade Perris alongside the PASSCAR Super Stocks, Street Stocks, and WRA Vintage Cars for the 73rd running of the Salute to Indy. The May 16 Night of Destruction will feature all five of the wildly popular divisions that keep fans on the edge of their seats: daring Figure 8 races, the unpredictable Figure 8 Trailer Race, mighty Mini Stocks battling it out on the twisty road course, rough-and-tumble Demo Cross, and the always-zany Double Deckers. As always, Night of Destruction will include the hugely popular free on-track candy giveaway and autograph session with all of the drivers from 5:15 to 6:00 p.m. That makes it the perfect opportunity for kids and families to meet the stars before the smashing and crashing begins. On the 23rd, the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars will compete in one of the longest-running sprint car races in the country — the prestigious Salute to Indy. Dating back to 1948 when Dempsey Wilson captured the inaugural event, this year's race marks the 73rd running and the 29th time it has been contested at Perris Auto Speedway. The Street Stocks will be battling for a $2,000 winner's paycheck (providing there is a minimum 17-car field). Rounding out the Salute to Indy program will be the gorgeous WRA Vintage Cars, adding a touch of history and nostalgia to an already stacked night of racing.   From Crashes to Dance Battles—It's All "Family Fun" at Perris' Night of Destruction!

  Perris, California — April 21, 2026 — When it comes to a night of family fun at the local racetrack, nothing tops Perris Auto Speedway's Night of Destruction. It is not just about the racing or the crashes—it is about delivering a full evening of clean family fun in a tight two-and-a-half to three-hour package. Families get the thrills, kids get involved, and everyone is heading home at a reasonable hour. When the show roars into the famous Riverside County clay track this Saturday, fans will be treated to daring Figure 8 racing, a wild Figure 8 Trailer Race, lightning-quick Mini Stocks battling on the challenging twisty road course, rough-and-tumble Demo Cross action, and the always zany Double Deckers. The track made some changes for Night of Destruction before the 2026 season, and the response from fans has been overwhelmingly positive. PAS management brought back three popular traditions. The student ticket price returned, allowing teens ages 13-17 with a school ID to get in for just $15.00—a $10.00 savings over 2025. The fan-favorite kids' dance contest also came back at intermission. Now called the "Dance Battle," it awards prizes to the top young performers. Immediately afterward, T-shirts are launched into the crowd. Before the final race of the night, the heavily populated grandstands come alive with a sing-along that caps off the evening. "It is not just about the racing," promoter Don Kazarian said on Tuesday. "It is about entertaining, having a good time, and sending the fans back home at a decent hour. In addition to watching the racing, kids love competing in the dance contest and hollering for the crew to throw shirts their way. It adds to the fun of the show for them." "It is also important to get the show done in a timely fashion," the longtime promoter continued. "Night of Destruction ends between 9:30 and 10:00 p.m. Kids have a great time and are on the way home at a decent hour. The worst thing that can happen is to see kids sleeping in the grandstands at a racetrack as the show drags on. If that happens, when their parents ask them if they want to come back, they are probably going to remember being bored and falling asleep, and they will not want to return. That is why we always strive to keep the show moving and send everyone home at a decent time." Two races into the season, champions have set the tempo in their divisions. In the Figure 8s, four-time champion Jesse Gordon of Beaumont captured the first two main events of the year. Likewise, Whittier's Michael Schattilly, a two-time Figure 8 Trailer champion, remains undefeated. In the Mini Stocks, the father-and-son duo of Steven Green Sr. and Steven Green Jr. of Lake Elsinore—the last two champions in the class—have split the first two mains of the year. In Demo Cross competition, 2021 co-champion Austin Kinane of Riverside and two-time titleholder Trebor Stevens each have scored wins. In the crowd-favorite Double Deckers, three-time champions Lonnie & Cale Skillman in the Bug Ya' Later and the team of Joshua Sawvell and Francisco Rojas in the Hot Diggity Dodge have one victory apiece. Ticket prices for Saturday's show are $25.00 for adults. Students ages 13-17 with their school ID are $15.00. Kids ages 6-12 are $10.00, and children 5 and under are free.   Eddie Tafoya Jr. Looks To Continue Early-Season Prowess at USAC/CRA Race at Central Arizona Raceway

  Chino Hills, CA — April 16, 2026 — After last weekend's race was canceled due to weather, Eddie Tafoya Jr. will climb back into his beautiful #51T and head to Central Arizona Raceway for Saturday's Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series event. It will be his first appearance at the track since last November's USAC National Sprint Car Series Western World Championships. Tafoya has enjoyed a strong start to the 2026 season. Through four starts, he has yet to finish worse than sixth. He opened the year at another Arizona venue, Mohave Valley Raceway, on February 28, where he finished third in the USAC/CRA main event. A couple of weeks later, he ventured to the half-mile Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway for two nights of Ultimate Sprint Car Series competition, recording sixth-place finishes on both nights in "Sin City." He then returned to USAC/CRA action at his home track, Perris Auto Speedway, on March 21, where the 2019 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year came home fifth. This season, Tafoya has been a consistent frontrunner, leading laps and running near the head of the pack in every outing. His performance has drawn attention from both fans and competitors alike. "I feel really good, and pretty confident this year," Tafoya said last month. "The car has been working good and the balance is good. It is a combination of preparation and experience. I am just relaxed and confident on what we have got. It has been pretty good and I am excited."   Perris, California — April 1, 2026 — Perris Auto Speedway promoter Don Kazarian has announced that beginning with the next Night of Destruction, the Figure 8, Mini Stock road course, and the quarter-mile portions of the track used for Demo Cross will be run on grass. The transformation of the surfaces began after the last sprint car and stock car races at the famous Riverside County speed plant on March 21st. That gives the new grass five weeks to germinate and begin to grow. The new "racing lawn" is already coming in nicely. "I was watching Speedway racing from England on YouTube, and they showed some highlights of grass track racing," Kazarian said. "It was wild. It did not hit me at first, but then I thought, Night of Destruction is crazy and this is wild too. Why not combine the two? The next morning, I contacted the Detroit Grass Seed Company. They have a special tough turf that is going to stand up well to the rigors of Night of Destruction." One of the aspects that will add excitement is when the track is watered before the Demo Cross main; it will be just as slippery as it was when the track was watered without grass. The competitors will be slipping and searching for traction just like they have since the track first hosted Night of Destruction over a decade ago. And when the track is watered, the grass will get watered, too. Extra maintenance will also be needed to take care of the grass. It will have to be mowed so it does not turn into an overgrown weed patch. "I called Lane Hofarth, last year's Figure 8 Trailer Champion," Kazarian said. "He and his sons race in four of the five classes at Night of Destruction. I asked Lane if they would not mind putting large lawn mower blades under all of their cars, and he agreed. We will have to cut it down between races as well, so it will get trimmed at least two times a month and look nice." When contacted, Hofarth, who is loved by fans for destroying boats and jet skis at Night of Destruction, was only too happy to take on the job. "This is going to be fun, plus we can help out with the track. We attached the blades and tested them in the front yard. They took out some divots, but we adjusted them and they work well. If our cars do not get torn up at Night of Destruction, we can possibly go out and earn some extra money for racing by cutting lawns." There was only one concern coming into the deal. The quarter-mile inner oval shares the same front and back straightaways used by the sprint cars and stock cars in their shows, so something had to be figured out. "When I first got the idea, that was the one thing I was worried about," Kazarian related. "The sprint cars and stocks could not run on grass. At first, I thought about asking them to run a slick tire, but that would not work, as there would still be the clay portion of the track in the corners, and asking them to purchase other tires would be expensive." "I tried to think of several different ways to cover those portions of the track," Kazarian continued. "The best and safest thing I came up with was tarps. They would be easy to put on and easy to take off. So, I went on Amazon and bought a bunch of heavy 20 x 30-foot blue tarps. We are in the process of melding them together so they will be ready for the sprint car/stock car show on April 11." When asked what the sprint car and stock car drivers and owners have said about the tarps, Kazarian responded, "I have not exactly told them yet." Before heading back to water his new racetrack lawn, Kazarian added with a wink and a smile, "I hope everyone has a very happy April Fools' Day. Racing will return to The PAS on April 11th when Heimark Distributors presents the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint, and the PASSCAR Super Stocks, Street Stocks and American Factory Stocks.   Tafoya Places Fifth at Perris — Eyes Return on April 11

  Chino Hills, CA — March 25, 2026 — Eddie Tafoya Jr. kept his strong 2026 campaign rolling with a hard-fought for fifth-place finish in last Saturday night's 30-lap Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series main event at Perris Auto Speedway. Through four starts this season, Tafoya has yet to finish outside the top six. On a night that felt more like mid-summer than early spring, Tafoya stopped the clocks at 17.312, good for the seventh-fastest time on the fast, half-mile clay oval. After a third-place run in his eight-lap heat race, Tafoya lined up seventh for the feature. When the green flag dropped, the 2019 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year wasted no time electrifying the crowd, slicing through the field, and quickly surging into second. Under the bright lights surrounding the famous track, the Chino Hills driver stayed glued to the leader through the first half of the race. With the frontrunner hugging the bottom groove, Tafoya made multiple bids for the lead, nearly pulling off a pass on more than one occasion exiting turn two before the leader was able to shut the door. Refusing to fade, Tafoya remained in the thick of the fight to the checkered flag, guiding the beautiful #51T home in fifth. The finish gives the veteran racer four top-six results in four starts this year, with his best performance being a third-place finish at Arizona's Mohave Valley Raceway on February 28. Tafoya, 28, will return to Perris on April 11, the same track where he captured the 2018 Perris Auto Speedway Young Guns track championship. He will be chasing his best-ever PAS finish — a third on July 17, 2021 — while also aiming to top his career-best USAC/CRA result, a second-place finish at Cocopah Speedway on January 29, 2022. Given his early-season speed and consistent presence near the front, both marks are well within reach. Spectator gates for the April 11 race will open at 5:00 p.m., with racing at 7:00. Adult tickets are $30.00. Seniors (65 and over) are $25.00. Students (ages 13-17 with school ID) are $15.00, and children (ages 6-12) are $10.00.   Perris, California — March 17, 2026 — Racing returns to Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday, March 21, when Heimark Distributors presents the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, PASSCAR Super Stocks, Street Stocks, and American Factory Stocks. Spectator gates for the quadruple-header show will open at 5:00 p.m., with racing getting underway at 7:00. One class that was not on the season opener card but will be added this Saturday is the Super Stocks. The fastest stock cars currently competing at the track will kick off their 2026 campaign this weekend. "We initially planned to have the Super stocks as part of the track's 30th season opener last month," track promoter Don Kazarian said. "However, Mohave Valley Raceway in Arizona had already scheduled them for their annual Bill and Shirley Meyer Memorial. We did not want to schedule over that, so we held the Super Stock season opener off until this week." Heading the list of entries for the Super Stocks on Saturday will be Ricky Lee of Banning. Last year, Lee won his second class title in three years. In addition to Lee and the other regulars, a blast from the past will return to the track on Saturday. After several years away, Dale Underwood, who won the track's first-ever Champ Truck title in 1999, will be back in action. "It will be good to see Dale back on the track," Kazarian stated. "He is one of only a handful of drivers who have raced both sprint cars and stock cars at the track. He was our first truck champion, and he was a regular in stock cars and modifieds as well before jumping into a sprint car. He is one of those guys who just loves to race and will drive anything." At the track's 30th season opener five weeks ago, defending USAC/CRA Sprint Car champion RJ Johnson of Laveen, Arizona, won the main event. He was chased across the line by fellow Arizonan Charles Davis Jr. of Buckeye and local driver Austin Williams of Corona. All three are expected to be back on hand on Saturday night. In the companion Street Stock main event at the season opener, Justin Dunn of Fontana, who previously won IMCA Modified mains at The PAS, made his debut in the Street Stocks and overwhelmed the competition to score a convincing win. Chasing him home in second and third were Yorba Linda's Chad Mahony and his teammate, Morgan Rowland of Riverside. Austyn Jaramillo of Winchester, who began his racing career in Night of Destruction competition at the track, raced home first in the American Factory Stock main event. He beat Ramona's Andrew Schmitz and three-time class champion David Stites of Canyon Lake to Chris Fulton's checkered flag. There will be a dance contest for kids at intermission, with prizes for the best dancers. There will also be T-shirt launches and the "Heat Race Heroes" contest, where some lucky fans will have a chance to win free tickets to upcoming races. Adult tickets for Saturday's show are $30.00. Seniors 65 and over get in for $25.00. For students ages 13-17 with a school ID, tickets are $15.00. Kids ages 6-12 get in for $10.00, and children 5 and under are free. Active military members with proper ID get in for $5.00. Fairgrounds parking is $20.00 and is payable by card only. The popular Night of Destruction will return on April 25.   Night of Destruction Returns to Perris Auto Speedway This Saturday!

  Perris, California — March 9, 2026 — After a thrilling opening night four weeks ago, the "Craziest Show On Dirt," Night of Destruction, roars back to Perris Auto Speedway this Saturday, March 14th. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 p.m., and the first crash of the night will take place at 7:05. Saturday's Night of Destruction will feature five wild and unpredictable classes that always keep fans on the edge of their seats: the daring Figure 8's, the crazy Figure 8 Trailer Race, the twisting-road-course for the mini stocks, the rough-and-tumble Demo Cross, and the crowd-favorite Double Deckers. Advance tickets for Saturday's show are available online at tix.com. When the Night of Destruction season opened three weeks ago, the weather was anything but pleasant. Rain had fallen for several days leading up to the event, and the night itself was cold and windy. Despite the conditions, a solid crowd still packed the stands and was treated to a wild evening filled with crashes, chaos, and non-stop action. Fans can expect the same kind of mayhem this Saturday night. The big difference will be the weather. The forecast is calling for unseasonably warm conditions, with a high of 88 degrees in Perris. By the time the first race begins at 7:05, temperatures are expected to drop to a very comfortable 76 degrees, making it a perfect night for fans to enjoy the action from the grandstands. "Despite the poor weather going on before the last race, our advance ticket sales were very good," promoter Don Kazarian said. "Then we had a great walk-up sale. Once there, the fans saw a great show with lots of crashing and on-track chaos." "Weather-wise, this week is totally opposite. We are going to have summer like temperatures and we have not had any rain for a few weeks. It is going to be a pleasant night for fans in the stands." Along with the great weather, fans can expect another night of wild competition on the track. In addition to the regular competitors, several new cars and drivers will be making their Night of Destruction debuts on Saturday. One of the newcomers is Samantha Sachs. Her grandfather, Neil, once worked as an official at the legendary Ascot Park in Gardena, and her father, Fred, is the longtime head scorer at Perris. Sachs' older brother, Jason, began racing in Night of Destruction two years ago and finished 10th in the first mini stock main event this season. A talented young photographer, he will miss this week's race while covering Saturday's Sporting Kansas City vs. Los Angeles Galaxy Major League Soccer match. Ironically, Samantha had to miss the race three weeks ago to attend an ROTC Ball. "It will be fun to watch Samantha on Saturday," Kazarian said. " She and Jason have been around the track since they were little kids. They are good kids with great parents. Both have worked at the track. Jason operates the scoreboard on Sprint Car and Stock Car nights and Samantha has done several jobs around the facility."   Chino Hills, CA — March 2, 2026 — A gritty performance earned Eddie Tafoya Jr. a hard-fought for third-place finish when the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars visited Arizona's Mohave Valley Raceway last Saturday night. With a large, enthusiastic crowd packed into the grandstands and thousands more watching live on Flo Racing, Tafoya turned in the sixth-fastest qualifying time among the 22 cars on hand, stopping the clock at 14.228 seconds. The effort placed him on the inside of row three for the start of the third 10-lap heat race. Tafoya, who resides in Chino Hills, California, wasted no time charging toward the front in the heat. On the opening lap, he quickly picked off three cars to move into second. After a yellow flag flew at the end of the first circuit, Tafoya seized the lead entering turn three on the restart and paced the field for the final nine laps. For Tafoya, the 2019 Perris Auto Speedway Young Guns Champion and 2019 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year, the impressive heat race win, combined with his strong qualifying effort, earned him the pole position for the 30-lap main event. When the green flag dropped, Tafoya rocketed into the lead and set the early pace. He led the first eight laps before surrendering the top spot. By the midway point, he had slipped back to fourth, but the battle was far from over. Running the bottom groove to perfection, he sliced past two competitors to climb back into second. In the war that unfolded over the final 10 laps, Tafoya slipped back to third. From there, he fended off repeated challenges to secure a podium finish that equaled his best-ever performance on the lightning-fast Arizona clay oval. "I was leading and trying to find some grip," Tafoya told the crowd after the race. "It is kind of hard there leading with K.T. (Kevin Thomas Jr.) back there. He runs the bottom and Ricky (Lewis) is going to pound the top. It is kind of difficult figuring where to go. Two or three of them got around me. I had to regather myself, pull back together, make good decisions and get back up on the wheel." "I think everyone from California wanted to get that one for Bill Perkins," he emotionally told the crowd. "He put a lot of us in these racecars."   Eddie Tafoya Jr. Hopes His First Start of 2026 Is as Hot as the Arizona Temperature

  Chino Hills, CA — February 26, 2026 — Chino Hills, California, sprint car veteran Eddie Tafoya Jr. will open his 2026 racing season Saturday night, February 28, when the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars visit Arizona's racy 1/3-mile, banked Mohave Valley Raceway. Spectator gates at the desert oval—where temperatures are expected to soar to 94 degrees in the afternoon—will open at 4:00 p.m., with the first green flag dropping at 6:00. The 28-year-old returns to a track where he has enjoyed consistent success since sprint cars made their return to the facility in 2022. In seven USAC/CRA starts at the speedway—located just five minutes from the Colorado River and 25 miles from Laughlin, Nevada—Tafoya has recorded five top-10 finishes, including two top-five results and a best finish of third. Simply put, it is one of his favorite places to race. "We are usually a real good car out of the box when we get there," Tafoya said before a race in 2025. "I think the only times I have not run good there is when I have had motor issues." Last season, after opening his year with six USAC National Sprint Car Series races in Florida, Tafoya made his first USAC/CRA start of the year at Mohave Valley. He qualified 10th in a stout 31-car field, but trouble struck during qualifying when the torque ball backed off. The issue forced the team to replace the entire torque tube and bell housing, sidelining Tafoya for his heat race as the crew thrashed to make repairs. Once back on track, Tafoya started on the outside of the front row in the 12-lap B Main, needing a top-six finish to advance to the 30-lap feature. He left no doubt, racing to a third-place finish to earn his transfer spot. In the main event, the 2018 Perris Auto Speedway Young Guns Champion and 2019 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year, delivered one of the standout performances of the night. Rolling off from 10th on the outside of row five, Tafoya methodically carved his way through the field to finish fifth. Only two drivers passed more cars during the exciting feature.
