  Eddie Tafoya Jr. Looks for First 2025 Win at Perris Auto Speedway This Saturday

  Chino, CA - July 17, 2025 — Coming off his best Perris Auto Speedway finish of the 2025 season, a fifth-place result on June 21st, Eddie Tafoya Jr. will return to the Riverside County half-mile clay oval this Saturday night, July 19th. Spectator gates at the 29-year old speed plant will open at 5:00 p.m. and the first race will be at 7:00. For Tafoya, who recently celebrated his 28th birthday, it will be his fifth start of 2025 at Perris. In the first four races at the track this year, he has achieved three top-10 finishes. Besides his fifth-place showing last month, he came home eighth at the track on April 5th and was ninth in the annual Salute to Indy at the end of May. His fifth-place run last month equaled his performance at Arizona's Mohave Valley Raceway on February 22nd. The only race at Perris this year that he did not finish in the top 10 occurred on March 1st, when his belts came loose in the car, and he finished 13th. Before the 30-lap main event last month, Tafoya qualified sixth fastest in the 20 car field. He then placed fourth in his 10-lap heat race. The Chino Hills, California resident started on the pole and led the first seven laps of the main event. He ended up taking fifth after a tough battle for positions five through 10 late in the race. On Saturday, Tafoya, the 2018 Perris Auto Speedway Young Guns Sprint Car Champion and the 2019 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year, will only be making his third July appearance at the local track since the end of Covid. In 2021, he finished third in the July race on the oval affectionately known as The PAS, and last year he was seventh. In 2022 and 2023, he spent July racing with the USAC National Sprint Car Series in the Midwest. The historic half-mile clay oval in Riverside County is considered the home track for both the 21-year-old series and the Chino Hills, California native. Saturday's event was originally scheduled to be Tafoya's sixth series appearance of the year at Perris. However, two events earlier in the season were canceled due to rain. That means this weekend marks just the fourth 2025 outing at the track, located less than 30 minutes from Tafoya's home.   Chino, CA - June 12, 2025 — Eddie Tafoya Jr. turned in another solid performance last Saturday night, recording a top-10 finish in his first Ultimate Sprint Car Series start of 2025 in the Salute to Bob Vermeer and Narcie Ferriera on the Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick's Kern Raceway. The Chino Hills, California driver, who placed third in the USCS championship standings in 2024, steered his eye-catching #51T sprint car to a hard-earned ninth-place finish in the talent-packed 30-lap main event.   Chino, CA - June 3, 2025 — Eddie Tafoya Jr. will make his first appearance of the 2025 season at the newly relocated Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick's Kern Raceway this Saturday night. The event, a marquee stop on the Ultimate Sprint Car Series calendar, will honor Bob Vermeer and Narcie Ferriera. While Saturday marks his debut at Bakersfield this season, it will also be his first race of 2025 with the USCS. The Chino Hills, California, racer is no stranger to the old Bakersfield Speedway location, but only began competing at the newer Kern facility last year. After a May rainout, he made three starts at the venue in 2024, including a pair of USAC/CRA events where he posted solid fourth and ninth-place finishes. In his only 2024 USCS start there, Tafoya came home eighth. In 2024, Tafoya turned in a strong showing with the USCS, finishing third in the final point standings with three top-10 results in eight starts.   May 27, 2025 - Chino, CA — Eddie Tafoya Jr. secured a ninth-place finish in the 30-lap Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Salute to Indy on Saturday night at Perris Auto Speedway. The result marked Tafoya's second consecutive ninth-place showing in the historic race, first contested in 1948. The 27-year-old driver from Chino Hills, California, turned in a qualifying lap of 16.679, placing him 11th out of a 22-car field at the West Coast's premier half-mile clay oval. Lining up on the inside of row two in the Silberman Solar/Factory Wraps second heat race, Tafoya navigated one of the evening's wildest preliminaries to claim a decisive victory in the 10-lap event—his first USAC/CRA heat race win of the 2025 season. Starting 11th in the main event, Tafoya advanced a couple of positions forward to finish ninth. The result marks his third top-10 finish in six USAC/CRA appearances so far this year. It also nearly matched his career-best Salute to Indy finish of eighth. That result came in the 2022 Salute to Indy.   May 23, 2025, CHINO, CA — Second-generation sprint car driver Eddie Tafoya Jr. is set to return to action this Saturday night, May 24, as the Avanti Windows & Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series headlines the Annual Salute to Indy at Perris Auto Speedway. This prestigious race, one of the nation's longest-running sprint car events, will be celebrating its 77th anniversary, having first been contested in 1948. After rain forced the cancellation of the April 26th event at Perris, this weekend marks Tafoya's first competitive outing in six weeks. The Chino Hills, California native last raced in Arizona at the Central Arizona Speedway on April 10th and 11th. Despite a promising fifth-place run on the second night, fuel issues forced him out of contention late in the race. Saturday will be Tafoya's sixth start of the 2025 season in USAC/CRA.   BATAVIA, Ohio (May 22, 2025) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presented by FloRacing annual Georgia-Florida Speedweeks calendar will have a significant revamp in 2026. The rework will cause the entire Georgia-Florida Speedweeks schedule for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presented by FloRacing to shift to a time after the Daytona 500. The traditional 12 nights of racing, with over $650,000 in purse money available, now begins at All-Tech Raceway, then moves to Ocala Speedway, and wraps up at Golden Isles Speedway. "Teams have been looking for a change to Speedweeks; we listened," said Rick Schwallie, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presented by FloRacing Director. "Racing in mid-January has become too daunting for everyone. The off-season isn't long enough, and the gap between Speedweeks and the regular season is too much. The weather is also very unpredictable. If teams and fans are going to travel for Speedweeks, we want to provide them with a sure bet and give them an experience they can enjoy." The action will get underway on Wednesday, February 18, with an open practice at All-Tech Raceway in Lake City, Fla., followed by three straight nights of racing from Thursday, February 19, through Saturday, February 21. Those events will pay $10,000, $12,000, and $15,000 to win, respectively. From there, the tour will head to Ocala Speedway in Ocala, Fla - beginning with an open practice on Monday, February 23, followed by five nights of racing. On Tuesday and Wednesday, teams will compete for a chance to win $7,000. Drivers will be gunning for a $10,000 top prize on Thursday, February 26, and a $12,000 top prize on Friday, February 27. As the week comes to a close, $25,000 is on the line. The 2026 Speedweeks schedule will conclude at Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Ga. An open practice is planned for Tuesday, March 3. Racing action kicks off with a $7,000-to-win program on Wednesday, March 4, followed by a $10,000-to-win event on Thursday, March 5. Teams will vie for $12,000 to win on March 6, with Saturday's finale featuring $25,000. Reserved seats and camping tickets are expected to go on sale soon.
