- Eddie Tafoya Jr. Matches Season-Best with 5th-Place Finish at Perris Auto Speedway
Chino, CA - June 26, 2025 — Eddie Tafoya Jr. matched his best finish of the 2025 Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series season last Saturday night by placing fifth at Perris Auto Speedway. The strong showing marked his third consecutive top 10 finish in the prestigious 21-year-old open-wheel series. Piloting the immaculate Specialty Fasteners #51T, Tafoya set the tone early by qualifying sixth fastest against a stacked field. He backed up that performance with a fourth-place result in the third eight-lap heat race on the breezy evening. Thanks to his stellar qualifying run, the Chino Hills, California native earned the pole position for the 30-lap main event. The 2018 PAS Young Guns Champion and 2019 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year wasted no time asserting himself, charging into the lead as starter Steve Russell waved the green flag. Tafoya, who turns 28 on July 9th, set a blistering pace and led the opening seven laps before slipping to second. As the race settled into the gritty, elbows-up action that Perris is known for, he remained in the top five and became embroiled in a fierce battle for position. His determination paid off, as he held strong to secure fifth at the checkered flag, matching his February 22nd result at Mohave Valley Raceway. While Tafoya is not chasing points in 2025, his consistency continues to impress. Saturday's finish vaulted him to 12th in the championship standings—remarkable considering he has entered only seven of the first ten events on the calendar. Fans can follow Tafoya on Instagram eddietafoya51. Tafoya and the #51T team would like to thank Specialty Fasteners, BR Motorsports, King Racing Products, Gasper Transportation, CMI Precision Machining, Owen's Insurance Services, Keen Concrete, DRC Chassis, and Rider Racing Engines for supporting their 2025 racing endeavors. - Eddie Tafoya Jr. Returns to His Home Track, Perris Auto Speedway, This Saturday
Chino, CA - June 19, 2025 — Popular sprint car racer Eddie Tafoya Jr. will return to action this Saturday night, June 21st, when the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series visits Perris Auto Speedway. The historic half-mile clay oval in Riverside County is considered the home track for both the 21-year-old series and the Chino Hills, California native. Saturday's event was originally scheduled to be Tafoya's sixth series appearance of the year at Perris. However, two events earlier in the season were canceled due to rain. That means this weekend marks just the fourth 2025 outing at the track, located less than 30 minutes from Tafoya's home. Tafoya, who drives the eye-catching #51T sprint car, recorded his best Perris finish of the year on April 5th when he placed eighth. He backed that up with a solid ninth-place run in the prestigious Salute to Indy on May 24th. His top finish overall in the USAC/CRA Series so far this year came at Arizona's Mohave Valley Raceway, where he finished fifth. Saturday's race will be Tafoya's 14th start of the 2025 season, spanning the USAC/CRA Series, the USAC National Sprint Car Series, and the Ultimate Sprint Car Series. His most recent appearance came two weeks ago when the Ultimate Series competed at Bakersfield Speedway. Tafoya recorded another top 10 finish when he placed ninth that night. Though Tafoya is not chasing points full-time in 2025, he has entered six of the first nine USAC/CRA races. Despite missing three events, he still sits 15th in the championship standings — a testament to his consistency and competitive performances. To see Tafoya in person on Saturday, spectator gates open at 5:00 p.m., and the first green flag will wave at 7:00. Chino, CA - June 12, 2025 — Eddie Tafoya Jr. turned in another solid performance last Saturday night, recording a top-10 finish in his first Ultimate Sprint Car Series start of 2025 in the Salute to Bob Vermeer and Narcie Ferriera on the Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick's Kern Raceway. The Chino Hills, California driver, who placed third in the USCS championship standings in 2024, steered his eye-catching #51T sprint car to a hard-earned ninth-place finish in the talent-packed 30-lap main event. It was the second straight ninth-place finish dating back to the Salute to Indy at Perris Auto Speedway on Memorial Day weekend. A strong field of 33 competitors signed in for the event on the recently revamped clay oval. In qualifying, Tafoya stopped the clock at 16.888 seconds, placing him third in his group and 12th overall on the night. - EDDIE TAFOYA JR. FINISHES NINTH IN SALUTE TO INDY AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY
May 27, 2025 - Chino, CA — Eddie Tafoya Jr. secured a ninth-place finish in the 30-lap Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Salute to Indy on Saturday night at Perris Auto Speedway. The result marked Tafoya's second consecutive ninth-place showing in the historic race, first contested in 1948. The 27-year-old driver from Chino Hills, California, turned in a qualifying lap of 16.679, placing him 11th out of a 22-car field at the West Coast's premier half-mile clay oval. Lining up on the inside of row two in the Silberman Solar/Factory Wraps second heat race, Tafoya navigated one of the evening's wildest preliminaries to claim a decisive victory in the 10-lap event—his first USAC/CRA heat race win of the 2025 season. Starting 11th in the main event, Tafoya advanced a couple of positions forward to finish ninth. The result marks his third top-10 finish in six USAC/CRA appearances so far this year. It also nearly matched his career-best Salute to Indy finish of eighth. That result came in the 2022 Salute to Indy. Up next, Tafoya is scheduled to compete in the Ultimate Sprint Car Series at Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick's Kern Raceway on June 7. Last season, the 2019 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year and 2018 Perris Auto Speedway Young Guns Champion was set to race at Kern four times, though the May 11 event was rained out. In the three remaining appearances, he recorded finishes of fourth, eighth, and ninth. Perhaps most impressively, nearly a year to the day of next week's race, he raced in Bloomington, Indiana, on a Friday, then flew back to Southern California to place fourth in the USAC/CRA main at Kern the very next night. Following Kern, Tafoya will return to Perris Auto Speedway—his home track—on June 21. Fans can follow Tafoya on Instagram eddietafoya51. Tafoya and the #51T team would like to thank Specialty Fasteners, BR Motorsports, King Racing Products, Gasper Transportation, CMI Precision Machining, Owen's Insurance Services, Keen Concrete, DRC Chassis, and Rider Racing Engines for supporting their 2025 racing endeavors. - EDDIE TAFOYA JR. TAKES ON SALUTE TO INDY SATURDAY AT PERRIS
May 23, 2025, CHINO, CA — Second-generation sprint car driver Eddie Tafoya Jr. is set to return to action this Saturday night, May 24, as the Avanti Windows & Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series headlines the Annual Salute to Indy at Perris Auto Speedway. This prestigious race, one of the nation's longest-running sprint car events, will be celebrating its 77th anniversary, having first been contested in 1948. After rain forced the cancellation of the April 26th event at Perris, this weekend marks Tafoya's first competitive outing in six weeks. The Chino Hills, California native last raced in Arizona at the Central Arizona Speedway on April 10th and 11th. Despite a promising fifth-place run on the second night, fuel issues forced him out of contention late in the race. Saturday will be Tafoya's sixth start of the 2025 season in USAC/CRA. His strongest performance came on February 22nd with a fifth-place finish at Arizona's Mohave Valley Raceway. In two starts at Perris this season, he finished eighth and 13th. Since the 2020 Perris season was canceled due to COVID-19, this will be the fourth running of the Salute to Indy. Driving the striking #51T sprint car, Tafoya has been a consistent contender in the event. In 2021, he was on pace for a career-best finish when he ran out of fuel while running second with just five laps remaining. He secured his best Salute to Indy finish in 2022 with an eighth-place result. Tafoya missed the 2023 edition while competing in the USAC National Sprint Car Series in the Midwest. Last year, he crossed the line in ninth. Fans will have the chance to watch Tafoya and the other top non-wing sprint car drivers west of the Mississippi this Saturday night at Perris. Spectator gates open at 5:00 p.m., with racing set to begin at 7:00 p.m. Ticket Information: Adults (13+): $35 Seniors (65+): $30 Children (6-12): $10 Kids 5 & under: Free Parking: $20 (charged by the fairgrounds) Advance tickets are available at tix.com. - Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Revamps Georgia-Florida Speedweeks for 2026
BATAVIA, Ohio (May 22, 2025) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presented by FloRacing annual Georgia-Florida Speedweeks calendar will have a significant revamp in 2026. The rework will cause the entire Georgia-Florida Speedweeks schedule for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presented by FloRacing to shift to a time after the Daytona 500. The traditional 12 nights of racing, with over $650,000 in purse money available, now begins at All-Tech Raceway, then moves to Ocala Speedway, and wraps up at Golden Isles Speedway. "Teams have been looking for a change to Speedweeks; we listened," said Rick Schwallie, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presented by FloRacing Director. "Racing in mid-January has become too daunting for everyone. The off-season isn't long enough, and the gap between Speedweeks and the regular season is too much. The weather is also very unpredictable. If teams and fans are going to travel for Speedweeks, we want to provide them with a sure bet and give them an experience they can enjoy." The action will get underway on Wednesday, February 18, with an open practice at All-Tech Raceway in Lake City, Fla., followed by three straight nights of racing from Thursday, February 19, through Saturday, February 21. Those events will pay $10,000, $12,000, and $15,000 to win, respectively. From there, the tour will head to Ocala Speedway in Ocala, Fla - beginning with an open practice on Monday, February 23, followed by five nights of racing. On Tuesday and Wednesday, teams will compete for a chance to win $7,000. Drivers will be gunning for a $10,000 top prize on Thursday, February 26, and a $12,000 top prize on Friday, February 27. As the week comes to a close, $25,000 is on the line. The 2026 Speedweeks schedule will conclude at Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Ga. An open practice is planned for Tuesday, March 3. Racing action kicks off with a $7,000-to-win program on Wednesday, March 4, followed by a $10,000-to-win event on Thursday, March 5. Teams will vie for $12,000 to win on March 6, with Saturday's finale featuring $25,000. Reserved seats and camping tickets are expected to go on sale soon. - EDDIE TAFOYA JR. TACKLES PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY
(Chino, CA, April 24, 2025) Southern California sprint car standout Eddie Tafoya Jr. is set to return to action this Saturday night, April 26th, when the Avanti Windows & Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series rolls into Perris Auto Speedway for the third time in 2025. The iconic clay oval, widely regarded as the premier sprint car venue on the West Coast, will welcome fans through its gates at 5:00 PM, with racing action set to begin at 7:00. The 27-year-old Chino Hills, California native, who captured the Perris Auto Speedway Young Guns Championship in 2018, has already made two appearances at the famed Riverside County half mile this year. His strongest performance at the track came on April 5, when he piloted the immaculate #51T to a solid eighth-place finish. Tafoya's best run of the 2025 campaign so far came on February 22 at Arizona's Mohave Valley Raceway, where he battled to an impressive fifth. That was his best result to date in 2025. The 2019 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year has shown strong form through the early stages of the season, especially in qualifying. In all five of his 2025 USAC/CRA appearances, Tafoya has qualified inside the top 10, including three top five time trial performances. Most recently, during a two-night stint at the newly revamped Central Arizona Speedway, he clocked in second fastest on April 11th and fourth quickest on April 12th. At Perris Auto Speedway, Tafoya has also demonstrated his one-lap speed, turning in the sixth and seventh fastest qualifying times in his two starts there this season. He kicked off the year by qualifying 10th at the season opener at Mohave Valley Raceway, where he went on to score the fifth-place finish. Despite only contesting five of the first seven races of the year, Tafoya currently sits 15th in series points. A strong run this Saturday could see him climb even higher in the standings as he looks to build momentum through the heart of the season. To see Tafoya battle with the best traditional sprint car drivers west of the Mississippi at Perris on Saturday, spectator gates will open at 5:00 p.m. and racing will begin at 7:00. Tickets for those 13 and over are $35.00. Seniors 65 and over get in for $30.00. For kids 6-12, it is $10.00, and children 5 and under are free. The fairgrounds charge $20.00 for parking. Advance tickets are on sale now at tix.com or by calling 1-800-595-4849. For those who do not wish to buy advance tickets, there will be plenty available for everyone at the ticket window on Saturday. The beautiful Perris Auto Speedway is located at the base of the Lake Perris Dam on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds. The address is 18700 Lake Perris Drive in the city of Perris. The track website is perrisautospeedway.com, and the office phone number is 951-940-0134. Fans can follow Tafoya on Instagram eddietafoya51. Tafoya and the #51T team would like to thank Specialty Fasteners, BR Motorsports, King Racing Products, Gasper Transportation, CMI Precision Machining, Owen's Insurance Services, Keen Concrete, DRC Chassis, and Rider Racing Engines for supporting its 2025 racing endeavors. - EDDIE TAFOYA JR. FAST ON HIS RETURN TO CENTRAL ARIZONA SPEEDWAY
(Chino, CA, April 16, 2025) Even though it had been six years since his last and only appearance at the Central Arizona Speedway, Eddie Tafoya Jr. looked like a track regular when he competed on the clay oval with the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars last Friday and Saturday. Two top-four qualifying efforts highlighted the 27-year-old driver's weekend at the newly revamped 3/8 mile oval. Tafoya, who lives in Chino Hills, California, kicked off his two days of racing in the "Copper State" on Friday with the eighth fastest time of the 30 cars on hand in hot laps with a best lap of 16.956. When it came time to qualify, he turned it up a couple of notches and guided the gorgeous Specialty Fasteners #51T to its best qualifying effort of the year. His lap of 15.816 was the second-fastest time of the night. Tafoya started sixth in the 10-lap second heat and steered his way all the way up to second at the finish. That guaranteed him a starting spot in the A main event. Like he did in qualifying, he turned in the second fastest lap of the race. For the main, the veteran racer lined up on the inside of the third row for the 30-lapper. However, the setup on the car was too tight, and Tafoya slipped backwards and finished 13th. Twenty-four hours later, Tafoya started off well again. He recorded the third fastest time in hot laps in the 26-car field. He took to the track in qualifying and raced around the oval in 15.966 seconds. That was good enough for the fourth-best time in time trials. For the second straight night, Tafoya moved forward in his heat. After starting fifth, he passed one car and to place fourth in the 10-lapper. That move forward was important as it guaranteed Tafoya would start the main in third place. Saturday's main event saw Tafoya turn in what may have been his best performance of 2025. Through the early laps of the race, he ran fifth. On lap nine, he moved up one spot to fourth and he was locked into a fierce battle that was delivering a tremendously exciting race for his fans. A red flag flew on lap 23, bringing a temporary halt to the action. When the cars bumped back off for the restart, Tafoya was running in fifth and had his sights set on more. The car and the driver were both capable. However, when the green lights came back on, the #51T stumbled and slowed at the hit of the throttle. Tafoya steered the car to the bottom, and he pulled into the infield. He was out of fuel. What could have been a top five ended up instead being a 19th. However, it was a very impressive race for Tafoya, who was at the top of his game and battling very hard. The 2019 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year can take solace in the fact that only three drivers in the field turned a better lap than the 16.456 he recorded on the fourth circuit. Two of the three who turned in quicker laps finished first and second in the race. Despite the frustrating finishes, things were not all bad for Tafoya at Central Arizona. He was fast, and his car was, too. He can take that knowledge to his home track, Perris Auto Speedway, for another sprint car war on April 26th. - AFTER AN EIGHTH AT PERRIS, TAFOYA RETURNS TO CENTRAL ARIZONA SPEEDWAY FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 2019
(Chino, CA, April 10, 2025) This Friday and Saturday, April 11th and 12th, Eddie Tafoya Jr. will compete with the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Sprint Cars on a track he has not raced on since 2019. The track is the Central Arizona Speedway, and the last time he was there, he was competing for Rookie of the Year with the now-defunct USAC Southwest Sprint Car Series. This week's races come hot on the heels of Tafoya's eighth-place finish last week in the USAC/CRA main event at Perris Auto Speedway. A lot has changed since Tafoya was last at the track, which is located about halfway between Phoenix and Tucson. Not only the racing surface, but the entire facility has had a major makeover since then. As was previously stated, he was running for the USAC Southwest Series Rookie of the Year award in 2019. He not only won that, but he also captured the USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year award the same season. Thus, he has good memories of the facility. "I ran there one time with the Southwest Series when I was trying to get the Rookie of the Year in 2019," Tafoya remembered. "I had to go to one of the races over there to stay in points. I won a heat race by about half a track. I am not sure exactly where I finished in the main, but I think I was close to the top five." Tafoya recently viewed some of the High Limit Sprint Car Series race at the track located on the Pinal County Fairgrounds. He planned on watching some more before heading to the "Copper State." "From what I remember it was big and fast," Tafoya enthused. "So, that sounds good to me. I am on a different chassis now. I should have a decent base. We just have to make decent calls throughout the night." Last Saturday night, Tafoya raced close to his Chino Hills, California, home at Perris Auto Speedway. It was with the same USAC/CRA Series that he is competing with this weekend. Twenty-four cars showed up for the night of racing and 27-year-old Tafoya qualified sixth fastest at 16.755. Being the sixth fastest qualifier and with the way the first two heats finished, meant that Tafoya was a lock to start on the pole for the main if he placed in the top five of his heat. Starting fifth in the 10-lapper, Tafoya quickly advanced to second, and it looked like he was going to secure the pole for the main. However, that was not to be. "I knew I had to get fifth or better to start pole (in the main)," Tafoya offered. "I got to second quickly, like within two laps. I was running there, and I had the valve stem shoot out of the left rear tire. That ran it out of air, and then it popped it off the bead." Unfortunately, the flat knocked Tafoya from second in the heat to last. And it knocked him off the pole for the main. Instead of starting at the head of the pack, he had to roll off inside row four. The stacked field did not disappoint the fans as the drivers put on the usual Perris Auto Speedway "war." Tafoya looked good in the beautiful #51T and battled throughout the race, finishing eighth. "I think car-wise and driver-wise, that is the closest I have been in a while," Tafoya said of the race. "It was definitely a positive. The setup felt good. I was pretty happy with how it went. I was just a little bit off. A lot of guys were going fast, so it was a lot different starting seventh than it would have been starting on the pole." Central Arizona Speedway is located in Casa Grande on the Pinal County Fairgrounds at 512 S 11 Mile Corner Road. Adult tickets for the shows are $25.00 each night. Active military and seniors get in for $20.00. For young adults ages 12-17, it is $15.00. Kids 11 and under are free. Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. each night with racing at 7:00. For more information visit the track website at https://www.centralazraceway.com/ or call the track office at 602-292-7607. For fans who cannot make it to Arizona, both nights will be shown live on Flo Racing.
