- Riding High! GLSS Champion, Ridenour Snaps Five Year Winless Streak at Tri City Friday
Auburn, MI - In five years, almost to the day, since Chase Ridenour last went to victory lane, a lot has changed. Ridenour was with a different team. Smith Motorsports was en route to their first career Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP Championship. Phil Gressman was the defending Champion, and the world was pulling itself together amid a Global pandemic. Ridenour led the field to green alongside Mike Keegan. The pair battled closely on the opening lap for who would take hold of the field early. Ridenour put his No.38 to the pin and began his pursuit of the back of the field. Turns one and two were uniquely different from that of turns three and four at Tri-City on Friday night. The bottom was in early around the entire race track, but quickly the top of one and two became the preferred line and the bottom was the place to be in three and four. Keegan found that combination first and took the lead momentarily near the halfway point of the race, but Ridenour quickly crossed Keegan over in lapped traffic and was back out front. With less than 10 laps to go, Ridenour took lapped traffic three-wide to gap himself back to Jared Horstman and Dustin Daggett who had worked around Keegan in the traffic. Three former GLSS Champions at the front of the field was a thrill for a nearly packed house. With traffic clear inside of five laps to go, Horstman began reeling in Ridenour, but ran out of time as the Perry, Michigan native grabbed his first win since August 19, 2020 at Hartford Speedway. Horstman held on for second ahead of Daggett, Max Stambaugh fourth, and Keegan fifth. The next event for the MacAllister CAT Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP is Sunday, August 31st at Crystal Motor Speedway for the final points race of the 2025 season. Stambaugh is likely to be crowned the Tour Champion for the fourth consecutive season, while Jared Horstman hopes to hold on for the MacAllister CAT Championship. Fans who can't make the trip can watch the action on GreatLakeSprints.TV. Phil Gressman won the Ti22 Performance Fast Qualifier Award. Engler Machine & Tool Heat Race One was won by Jared Horstman. Beacon & Bridge Markets Heat Race Two was won by Steve Irwin. Miami Paint Heat Race Three was won by Chase Ridenour. MacAllister Cat A Feature 1: 1. 38-Chase Ridenour[1]; 2. 17-Jared Horstman[4]; 3. 85-Dustin Daggett[6]; 4. 71H-Max Stambaugh[7]; 5. X-Mike Keegan[2]; 6. 7C-Phil Gressman[5]; 7. 5M-Steve Irwin[3]; 8. 49T-Gregg Dalman[8]; 9. 11G-Luke Griffith[9]; 10. 22-Tom Lowe[14]; 11. 27K-Zac Broughman[18]; 12. 88N-Frank Neill[15]; 13. 3A-Mike Astrauskas[10]; 14. 49-Brian Ruhlman[11]; 15. 13-Andy Teunessen[12]; 16. 67-Kevin Martens[13]; 17. 31-Jim Girard[17]; 18. 33-Jeremy Ferguson[16]; 19. 10-Cody Howard[19]
- Howl at the Moon! Chase Dunham Wins First Career GLSS Race Friday at Hartford Speedway
Hartford, MI - In a season that has seen Jared Horstman and Max Stambaugh combine for 14 feature wins, a first-time winner didn't seem to be in the cards. Friday night, with a full moon in the sky, the only thing that was going to keep Dunham for finding Victory Lane with the MacAllister CAT Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP, was himself. Starting on the outside of the front row alongside veteran Van Gurley, Jr, Dunham jumped out to a quick lead and put distance between himself and the field in a hurry. That scenario has been done by the No.66 car before, and the end result hasn't been what he's been hoping for thus far. With just six laps on the board, Dunham was working to the inside of lapped traffic at the exit of turn number four when he made contact with the inside wall with his left front tire. Somehow, Dunham was able to continue and didn't lose much time to Gurley and Stambaugh. Another potential race-losing moment came inside of 10 laps to go when Dunham's car stepped completely sideways entering turn three behind a lapped car. Dunham was able to straighten the car out but not before Stambaugh cut the gap down to just four car lengths. With eight laps to go, the only caution of the race flew for Keith Sheffer, Jr, who caught the wall in turn three and slowed to a stop on the front stretch. The caution was a potential break for Dunham who was falling to the grips of Stambaugh in traffic. However, Dunham revealed in victory lane that the car was overheating throughout that entire race including under caution. On the restart, Dunham put the No.66 on the top of the race track and set sail, holding off Stambaugh and Jared Horstman, who found the final rung of the podium with a two-for-one deal on Van Gurley and Corbin Gurley in turn two. Dunham successfully navigated lapped traffic for the final five laps and went on to collect his first career GLSS win, his first win since 2021. "I think it's about damn time," Dunham said in victory lane. "We led a couple of weeks ago at I-96 Speedway, we've been up front, it just feels like a thousand pounds has been lifted off of me. There's been no pressure from my dad or any of our sponsors, just me. I tried to give it away. The motor probably isn't great, I looked under that caution and [the temperature gauge] was about pegged, and [dad] told me to keep going. It's just me and my dad this weekend, but this is pretty damn cool." The next event for the MacAllister CAT Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP is Saturday, August 9th at Silver Bullet Speedway in Owendale, MI. Racing begins at 7:00 PM. Fans who can't make the trip can catch every lap on www.GreatLakesSprints.TV. Chase Dunham set the Ti22 Performance Fast Time with a 14.936. Jared Horstman won Engler Machine & Tool Heat Race One. Van Gurley, Jr won Beacon & Bridge Markets Heat Race Two. Max Stambaugh won Miami Paint Heat Race Three. Jett Mann was the Operating Engineers 324 Hard Charger advancing eight positions. Michigan CAT A Feature 1 (25 Laps): 1. 66-Chase Dunham[2]; 2. 71H-Max Stambaugh[3]; 3. 17-Jared Horstman[6]; 4. 85-Dustin Daggett[8]; 5. 12-Corbin Gurley[5]; 6. 7C-Phil Gressman[10]; 7. 13-Van Gurley Jr[1]; 8. 20I-Kelsey Ivy[7]; 9. X-Mike Keegan[12]; 10. 16-Ryan Ruhl[14]; 11. 19-Jett Mann[19]; 12. 70-Eli Lakin[16]; 13. 49T-Gregg Dalman[11]; 14. 33-Jeremy Ferguson[18]; 15. 27K-Zac Broughman[20]; 16. 13T-Andy Teunessen[22]; 17. 3A-Mike Astrauskas[15]; 18. 67-Kevin Martens[21]; 19. 38-Chase Ridenour[4]; 20. 71-Garrett Saunders[13]; 21. 14-Keith Sheffer Jr[9]; 22. 84-Levi Poortenga[17]

- Back Home Again in Michigan; Great Lakes Super Sprints Head to Hartford and Butler
Merrill, MI - The Great Lakes Super Sprints Presented by PERFIT & ARP (GLSS) are headed back to the place it all started with a pair of stops in Michigan this Friday and Saturday night. Southwest Michigan's, Hartford Speedway hosts GLSS for the one and only show at the uniquely shaped Speedway on Friday, before Michigan's home for Sprint Car Racing, Butler Motor Speedway, welcomes in the 360 Sprint Cars for the first of two scheduled stops this season. The weekend trip is an exciting one based on what fans saw last season. Each facility was featured in the GLSS Top 10 races of 2024 countdown from the off-season. Hartford is known for being fast and technical with a different shape and grove in turns one and two than what is featured in turns three and four. Drivers know they need to be careful entering turn three or calamity could strike. In the spring visit to Hartford in 2025, Phil Gressman held off Max Stambaugh and Jared Horstman for the win. In August, a completely different crop of drivers was at the front; Keith Sheffer, Jr earned the win over Dustin Daggett and Kelsey Ivy. Hartford Speedway also welcomes the Super Troopers and Cyber Stocks for Friday night's racing. On Saturday, Butler Motor Speedway has a dual sprint car feature with GLSS serving as the headliner and the weekly 410 Winged Sprint Cars alongside. Butler was the number one show in 2024 according to the countdown with intense racing throughout the field in both shows last year including slide jobs, lapped traffic, and hair-raising moments while battling for position. Corbin Gurley earned his first career GLSS win last spring at Butler with an impressive move through lapped traffic to get around Phil Gressman and then Max Stambaugh for the win. In August, Kasey Jedrzejek pulled a massive slidejob after a restart to get by Dustin Daggett for the win. Keith Sheffer, Jr moved through for second with Daggett falling to third. DIRTcar UMP Modifieds and Compacts are also on Saturday night's schedule. Tickets for each event this weekend in Michigan are available at the gate on race day. Racing is set to begin each night at 7:30 PM. Fans who can't make the trip can catch all the action LIVE at www.GreatLakesSprints.Tv.
