Arenz aims to run it back with IRA in 2024
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) April 16, 2024 - In his first full season of competition with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series, Travis Arenz wasted no time entrenching himself among the top competitors in the series throughout a highly successful 2023 rookie campaign. The 2021 and 2022 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car champion put together a season packed with standout performances, including his first career IRA 410 Sprint Car Series A-main victory at his home track - The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on July 1, 2023. Despite suffering motor problems in the final month of the 2023 season, the Sheboygan Falls, Wis. racer piled up a total of 12 top-five and 15 top-10 A-main showings, while also notching three heat race victories, seven dash appearances and two dash victories in a total of 28 410 Sprint Car events last year. After earning an impressive third place showing in the final 2023 Bumper to Bumper IRA 410 Sprint Car Series point standings, Arenz picked up the Sage Fruit-Hepfner Racing Products Apple Cup Award for finishing as the second-highest point-earning IRA rookie driver last season. "I learned a lot in my rookie season with the IRA," Arenz said. "I'm proud of what we accomplished last season with the small budget we had compared to others that we race with." Arenz, who owns a total of 71 career A-main victories in four different divisions (410 Sprint Car, 360 Sprint Car, Sport Mod and 4-Cylinder) as well as the 2013 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing Outlaw Compact 4-Cylinder title and 2016 141 Speedway Northern Sport Mod championship, is looking forward to returning to IRA competition in 2024. "Our plan at this point is to run the IRA schedule again this year," he said. Hartmann pushes off 2024 campaign with Farmington top 10
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) April 10, 2024 - After unfavorable weather conditions derailed their initial plans to start the 2024 campaign, Austin Hartmann and the 87A Hartmann Racing Team ventured to the state of Missouri for back-to-back events at US 36 Speedway in Osborn, Mo. on Friday, April 5 and Farmington Empire Speedway in Farmington, Mo. on Saturday, April 6 to fire off the team's third full season of 410 Winged Sprint Car competition. The team was slated to compete in the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association (IRA)-Midwest Open Wheel Association (MOWA) doubleheader event at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa on Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6. However, uncooperative weather led to the cancellation of the event and sent Hartmann and the team seeking a Plan B racing option. The 2024 lid lifter came at not only a new track for Hartmann, but also against the best drivers and teams in the Winged Sprint Car racing business as the Plymouth, Wis. competitor signed in for a NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Series event at US 36 Speedway. With 41 cars on hand, Hartmann timed 21st in qualifying group A before starting 11th and moving up two spots to place ninth in his heat race. After starting on the pole of the C Main, Hartmann finished fourth to miss transferring to the Last Chance Showdown by two positions. The 87A Hartmann Racing team moved on to Farmington Empire Speedway on Saturday, April 6 for a weekly 410 Sprint Car program, which featured a 24-car field. After drawing the pole position, Hartmann placed second in the first 10-lap heat race. He then lined up fifth in the 25-lap A main and came home with a seventh-place finish to secure the eighth top-10 A-main showing of his 410 Sprint Car career. "It was a hell of a weekend," Hartmann said. "Not much went our way, from engine problems on Friday night to truck problems on Saturday morning. After dealing with those issues, it was good to finish the weekend with a top-10 finish at Farmington. "With adding Ian Schultz to the team this year, along with Eric Bergschultz and myself, we've been gelling quick as a crew and looking forward to getting the IRA started," he said. The 87A Hartmann Racing Team will hold a brat fry fundraiser on Saturday, April 13 at Holler n Hills, located at 5837 South Business Drive in Sheboygan, Wis., starting at 11 a.m. with food and raffles available all day.
