- Courtney shines as Kubota High Limit Diamond Classic wraps at Lucas Oil Speedway
WHEATLAND, MO. (June 28, 2025) - Tyler Courtney grabbed the lead on lap 18 and turned a close battle into a runaway Saturday night, earning the 2nd annual Kubota High Limit Racing Diamond Classic finale at Lucas Oil Speedway. Courtney, of Indianapolis, pocketed $25,000 for his first tour victory of the season. "Sunshine" outdistanced second-place Aaron Reutzel by more than six seconds, sprinting away from the competition after a restart on lap 19 - one circuit after the fourth-starting Courtney seized the lead. "We've been really good all weekend," Courtney said. "We had a part failure on Thursday and were probably a second-place car last night and tonight, I could put this car about wherever I wanted to. "We had won a few races up to this point last year. It sucks this is (only) our first one this year, but this is a great on to get. This is one of my favorite race tracks." Reutzel started third and wasted no time getting to the front, grabbing the lead away from Tanner Thorson on lap one. The Night One winner pulled away to a 2.2-second advantage by lap seven with Brad Sweet pressuring Thorson for second. Thorson then started to slice into the gap and drew within a half-second as the leaders encountered lapped traffic by lap 11. Reutzel fought him off until lap 15, when Thorson took over the top spot going by on the inside off turn two. Meanwhile, Courtney was lurking and by lap 18 and the 2024 Diamond Classic opening-night winner took the lead when Thorson spun in turn four. Thorson kept his machine moving, avoiding a caution, but fell back to seventh place. Courtney soon had a 1.3-second lead over Reutzel when the race's first caution flew a lap later as Xavier Doney came to a stop in turn four. After the restart, Courtney drew away to a 2.3-second lead by lap 25, putting him a commanding position over Reutzel with 10 to go. As he entered slower traffic, instead of finding trouble Courtney kept increasing his cushion to turn it into a runaway. "It's tough," Courtney said of getting to victory lane. "The whole roster we have at High Limit is incredibly talented. For us to get a win and get to drive by those guys to do it makes me feel good. You know you're beating the best guys to do it. Just a great weekend for us, besides the first night." Courtney's final margin was 6.1 seconds over Reutzel, but the runner-up took over the series points lead with another strong run. Reutzel had a win and a fifth to go with his runner-up finish and he exits with a nine-point series lead over Brad Sweet, who wound up fifth. The duo were tied at the start of the night. "Our car is good and our team is jelling," Reutzel said. "I think there are only good things to come. "It was some great racing," Reutzel added. "Just a lot of passing. The track was really, really good. I'm pumped to come back later in the year. This place truly is the Diamond of the Dirt Tracks. Hopefully they can make this event bigger and bigger and bigger." The Kubota High Limit Series is scheduled to return on Wednesday, Oct. 15 for the Roto-Rooter Midweek Series finale. Night Two winner Rico Abreu finished third with Thorson rallying back to fourth and Sweet settling for fifth. Daison Pursley set the fast qualifying time with a lap of 13.077 seconds, denying Reutzel a third straight fast time. Reutzel was No. 2 this time at 13.117. - Abreu seizes Night 2 Kubota High Limit Diamond Classic win at Lucas Oil Speedway
WHEATLAND, MO. (June 27, 2025) - Rico Abreu took command on lap 11 and led the rest of the way to earn Friday night's Kubota High Limit Racing Diamond Classic feature win at Lucas Oil Speedway. Abreu, of St. Helena, Calif., picked up his series-leading sixth feature win of the season. He was the third and final leader of the event and beat Tyler Courtney of Indianapolis by just over one second at the checkers. "It's really good. Determination beats talent," Abreu said in victory lane, noting some recent struggles. "This sport becomes really humbling at times. You can get up top really easily and you can get beat down to the ground. "We get to race so many times a year that there are so many highs and lows. Things change. These four tires are the only things that touch the race track. You work with spring rates and things can change throughout the season and you have to stay up to pace with everything and not get too hard on yourself." Abreu started fourth and sat behind the early pace-setters as Ashton Torgerson beat Courtney to the lead as the race started. Those front-row starters were running 1-2 when the first caution flew after two lap, with Abreu in third. As action resumed, Courtney caught and passed Torgerson for the lead on lap eight, using an inside pass coming out of turn four. Abreu soon moved around Torgerson and set his sights on the lead and took on lap 11, sliding past Courtney on the inside of turn two. Abreu quickly opened a 1.3-second lead by lap 16 with Courtney a second clear of Torgerson. Abreu gradually expanded his lead, opening it to 1.6 seconds by lap 20, weaving his way through lapped traffic with no issues. It appeared Abreu was on his way to a comfortable win when a lap 26 caution, as Landon Crawley's motor went up in smoke, erased his 1.4-second lead. That left a four-lap sprint to the finish as Abreu led Courtney, Brent Marks, Tanner Thorson and Torgerson comprised the top five. Abreu was able to win that race to the finish, beating Courtney by 1.038 seconds at the finish. "I was pretty confident in my car there," Abreu said of the final restart. "I was running the bottom at the end of the race and knew the entries were getting quite free. You just have to hit your marks. This is a real momentum-based track and you have to keep this engine up on the pipe and that's what I wanted to do." Thorson, of Broken Arrow, Okla., backed up his runner-up finish on Thursday with a third. Marks finished fourth and Thursday winner Aaron Reutzel wound up fifth. "We're just missing a little bit, but we're close," Courtney said. "Rico has arguably been one of the best in the country all year, so a great rebound for us. We're good, we just can't quite get that top step yet but we've got 25 grand tomorrow and have put ourselves in great position for that." The top three finishers locked themselves into the heat races and will get to bypass qualifying ahead of the $25,000-to-win finale. Thorson, with back-to-back podium finishes, heads into the final night as confident as anyone in the pits. His last six High Limit finishes have been fourth, third, second, sixth, second and third. "I think we have probably the most-consistent race car in the country probably," Thorson said. "It's good. We've gained a lot over this year, especially the past couple of months and rewarding for me and everyone involved. We're gonna keep on trucking." Reutzel captured the Diamond Classic victory on Thursday night and just as he did on night one, set the fast qualifying lap with a circuit of 12.869. That was just off the track record of 12.829 set by Abreu on June 29, 2024. Grandstands open at 4 p.m. on Saturday with hot laps at 6:15 and qualifying to follow. - Reutzel captures Kubota High Limit Diamond Classic opener at Lucas Oil Speedway
WHEATLAND, MO. (June 26, 2025) - There was nothing fluky about Aaron Reutzel's victory in the 2nd annual Kubota High Limit Racing Diamond Classic opener on Thursday night at Lucas Oil Speedway. Reutzel was fast all night, from setting quick time in qualifying to driving to the 30-lap feature victory - though he had to withstand a frantic charge from Tanner Thorson over the final three laps. "Just a super cool weekend and great way to get it started," Reutzel said in victory lane. "I'm not gonna call it a dominant performance by any means. He made me work for it, for sure." Reutzel, a Texan who now lives in Knoxville, Iowa, took the lead on lap 12 and held off Thorson in a frantic finish by a scant .101 seconds. He picked up the win on a program that was part of High Limit Racing's Roto Rooter Midweek Series and grabbed the season lead there. It was Reutzel's fourth High Limit victory of the season and he drew within four points of Brad Sweet for the High Limit championship lead. Thorson, of Broken Arrow, Okla., came from 10th to make it a thriller at the end. "It comes down to having a really good race car," Thorson said of his night. "Hats off to our guys. I can't thank those guys enough for the effort they put into this thing." Tyler Courtney started outside row one and grabbed the early lead, firing out to a two-second command over third-starting Reutzel by lap five. Courtney was closing on lapped cars by lap 10 as Reutzel was on the move, closing within a half-second. Two laps later, Reutzel blew past Courtney on the outside of turn two for the lead. Right after that, Kasey Kahne suffered a flat tire and slowed on the speedway to bring out the first caution. Reutzel continued to roll after the restart, pushing his lead to one second by lap 16. He was .846 seconds clear of Courtney on lap 21 when Courtney slowed as Ashton Torgerson rolled to a stop in turn four for the race's second caution. Thorson quickly moved into second after the restart and caught the leader with three to go and pulling alongside on the white flag lap. But Reutzel would not be denied, holding off Thorson's final-turn slider for the win by .101 seconds at the checkers. "Reutzel was getting tight down there and I was able to make up a lot of ground off of (turn) two," Thorson said. "I wasn't able to clear him and pass him, but I knew I had to try to because of how tight he was getting in the turns. Hats off to those guys. He drove a hell of a race." Reutzel said he was fortunate not to spin when the last caution flew and stay in position to win. "It was nice to have our speed in qualifying, like we've been having," Reutzel said. "I don't think our car is where it needs to be to come from 10th or so to win, but we're getting close. We were really, really good tonight early. I started struggling at the end. "I saw the big screen and saw the 88 (Thorson) coming and I went as hard as I could the last three. I wasn't surprised to see the 88 coming. I told Tanner today that I hope he doesn't figure out qualifying because that car has been bad-fast race-wise. He's really, really good right now." Sweet, the reigning High Limit Racing champion, drove from 11th to third with Randall finishing fourth and NASCAR champion Kyle Larson, who started ninth, rallying to fifth. Sweet called it "a good start to the weekend. We've struggled the last couple of weeks. We've had struggles in qualifying and struggled tonight to get the balance right but when it mattered, in the A-Main, we were pretty close." Reutzel set fast qualifying time at 13.308 seconds. It was about a half-second shy of the track record of 12.829, set by Rico Abreu on June 29, 2024. Action continues on Friday with grandstand gates opening at 4 p.m., hot laps at 6:15 and qualifying to follow. Opening ceremonies are set for 7:25 p.m. LUCAS OIL SPEEDWAY UNOFFICIAL RESULTS (June 26, 2025) 2nd annual Kubota High Limit Racing Diamond Classic A Feature - 1. 87-Aaron Reutzel[3]; 2. 88-Tanner Thorson[10]; 3. 49-Brad Sweet[11]; 4. 9R-Chase Randall[4]; 5. 57-Kyle Larson[9]; 6. 19-Brent Marks[7]; 7. 13-Daison Pursley[1]; 8. 20G-Noah Gass[8]; 9. 19H-Kevin Thomas Jr[5]; 10. 24-Rico Abreu[20]; 11. 26-Justin Peck[14]; 12. 74-Xavier Doney[13]; 13. 14-Spencer Bayston[12]; 14. 5-Brenham Crouch[18]; 15. 3-Ayrton Gennetten[16]; 16. 7BC-Tyler Courtney[2]; 17. 79-Gage Montgomery[24]; 18. 42-Sye Lynch[21]; 19. 45X-Landon Crawley[23]; 20. 21-Brian Brown[15]; 21. 9-Kasey Kahne[6]; 22. 21X-JJ Hickle[22]; 23. 1A-Ashton Torgerson[19]; 24. 22M-Rees Moran[17] B Main - 1. 1A-Ashton Torgerson[2]; 2. 24-Rico Abreu[1]; 3. 42-Sye Lynch[3]; 4. 21X-JJ Hickle[6]; 5. 45X-Landon Crawley[8]; 6. 79-Gage Montgomery[5]; 7. 24D-Danny Sams III[4]; 8. 93-Taylor Walton[11]; 9. 98P-Miles Paulus[10]; 10. 75-Tyler Blank[9]; 11. 5B-Kory Bales[12]; 12. 12X-Kameron Key[7] Dash - 1. 13-Daison Pursley[2]; 2. 7BC-Tyler Courtney[1]; 3. 87-Aaron Reutzel[3]; 4. 9R-Chase Randall[4]; 5. 19H-Kevin Thomas Jr[5]; 6. 9-Kasey Kahne[6] Heat 1 - 1. 7BC-Tyler Courtney[2]; 2. 87-Aaron Reutzel[4]; 3. 57-Kyle Larson[1]; 4. 49-Brad Sweet[5]; 5. 74-Xavier Doney[3]; 6. 3-Ayrton Gennetten[6]; 7. 42-Sye Lynch[7]; 8. 79-Gage Montgomery[9]; 9. 45X-Landon Crawley[8]; 10. 98P-Miles Paulus[10] Heat 2 - 1. 19H-Kevin Thomas Jr[1]; 2. 19-Brent Marks[2]; 3. 88-Tanner Thorson[5]; 4. 9R-Chase Randall[4]; 5. 26-Justin Peck[3]; 6. 22M-Rees Moran[6]; 7. 24D-Danny Sams III[9]; 8. 21X-JJ Hickle[7]; 9. 75-Tyler Blank[8]; 10. 93-Taylor Walton[10] Heat 3 - 1. 9-Kasey Kahne[1]; 2. 20G-Noah Gass[2]; 3. 13-Daison Pursley[4]; 4. 14-Spencer Bayston[3]; 5. 21-Brian Brown[8]; 6. 5-Brenham Crouch[7]; 7. 1A-Ashton Torgerson[6]; 8. 12X-Kameron Key[9]; 9. 24-Rico Abreu[5]; 10. 5B-Kory Bales[10] Qualifying - 1. 87-Aaron Reutzel, 00:13.308[9]; 2. 9R-Chase Randall, 00:13.337[21]; 3. 13-Daison Pursley, 00:13.343[20]; 4. 57-Kyle Larson, 00:13.344[13]; 5. 19H-Kevin Thomas Jr, 00:13.364[24]; 6. 9-Kasey Kahne, 00:13.420[17]; 7. 7BC-Tyler Courtney, 00:13.424[8]; 8. 19-Brent Marks, 00:13.462[1]; 9. 20G-Noah Gass, 00:13.467[11]; 10. 74-Xavier Doney, 00:13.487[15]; 11. 26-Justin Peck, 00:13.503[5]; 12. 14-Spencer Bayston, 00:13.504[22]; 13. 49-Brad Sweet, 00:13.566[2]; 14. 88-Tanner Thorson, 00:13.566[10]; 15. 24-Rico Abreu, 00:13.574[27]; 16. 3-Ayrton Gennetten, 00:13.609[25]; 17. 22M-Rees Moran, 00:13.628[3]; 18. 1A-Ashton Torgerson, 00:13.642[23]; 19. 42-Sye Lynch, 00:13.648[19]; 20. 21X-JJ Hickle, 00:13.709[14]; 21. 5-Brenham Crouch, 00:13.713[28]; 22. 45X-Landon Crawley, 00:13.739[12]; 23. 75-Tyler Blank, 00:13.846[16]; 24. 21-Brian Brown, 00:13.869[29]; 25. 79-Gage Montgomery, 00:13.871[30]; 26. 24D-Danny Sams III, 00:13.880[4]; 27. 12X-Kameron Key, 00:13.885[6]; 28. 98P-Miles Paulus, 00:13.902[18]; 29. 93-Taylor Walton, 00:14.112[26]; 30. 5B-Kory Bales, 00:14.383[7] Ticket info: Two-day packages, as well as single-day tickets, are available for purchase online. - Fast start falls short for Arenz at Road Challenge, IRA road trip on tap
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) June 25, 2025 - Still riding the wave of his remarkable upset victory in a High Limit Racing national tour series event at 141 Speedway on June 5, it was a matter of so close, yet so far away in the Road America Challenge Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car event at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, June 21. The 18th-year racer enjoyed a great start to the night by qualifying a stout fourth in the 25-car field with a lap of 12.050 seconds around the third-mile semi-banked red clay oval. After finishing second in the first eight-lap IRA heat race, Arenz advanced to his seventh IRA dash appearance in eight tries in 2025. After making a huge outside move on the opening lap of the first four-lap dash, Arenz advanced from fifth to second to earn the fourth starting position in the 30-lap Road America Challenge main event. The 2021 and 2022 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing and Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car champion got off to a strong start in A-main action before engaging in a battle for second with Jake Neuman. After moving past Neumann on Lap 17, the 2013 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing Outlaw Compact four-cylinder track champion tracked down leader Kelby Watt heading into the closing stages of the race. Arenz surged ahead to lead lap 24 before Watt battled back along the outside groove. On lap 25, Watt attempted to squeeze past Arenz next to the backstretch wall. However, the two drivers made contact before Watt cut down the track in turn three to seize the lead. Meanwhile, Arenz slowed to a stop on the following lap with a flat right rear tire resulting from the collision with Watt. After making a tire change in the work area, Arenz returned at the rear of the lead lap before moving up to secure a 15th-place showing at the finish line. "I was very happy to be able to put down a good lap in qualifying," Arenz said. "The heat race went well and I moved forward in the dash. Unfortunately, come feature time, there was a racing incident that caused a caution and cut down my right rear tire after taking over the lead position. We were able to get it changed and with five laps to go, and I was able to drive from the back of the field to get a few spots back." The team is preparing to head out on the road with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association Sprint Car Series this Friday, June 27 at Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, Ind. and Saturday, June 28 at Butler Speedway in Quincy, Mich. At Bloomington Speedway on Friday night, IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars and Super Stocks are also on the card. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. with spectator gates opening at 5 p.m., hot laps at 6:30 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m. on the quarter-mile high-banked red clay oval. On Saturday night at three-eighths high-banked Butler Motor Speedway dirt oval, UMP Modifieds and Four Cylinders will also be featured with pit gates opening at 3 p.m., followed by spectator gates at 4 p.m., hot laps at 6 p.m. and racing at 7:30 p.m. The races will mark Arenz's first career appearance at both tracks. "I always like to take on new tracks," Arenz said. "I see it as a challenge to test my knowledge and skill. We will do what we do every night - watch the track, watch other drivers on the track, make smart choices and be smooth and consistent." - Dayton Pursley rolls to first USRA Modified win in Lucas Oil Speedway spotlight feature
WHEATLAND, MO. (June 21, 2025) - Dayton Pursley of nearby Hermitage, who grew up watching his dad race USRA Modifieds at Lucas Oil Speedway, found his way to victory lane in the division on Saturday night. Pursley led all but the opening lap and held off Dustin Hodges for his first Arctic Food Equipment USRA Modified victory and pick up the $1,000 check in the headliner during Ozarks Food Harvest Food Drive Night at the Races. Other feature winners in the Pitts Homes and Realty Weekly Racing Series program were Johnny Fennewald (Hickamo Super Stocks), Tucker Cox (Hermitage Lumber Late Models), Jon Sheets (Clear Creek Golf Cars USRA B-Mods) and William Garner (O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars). Dayton Pursley, who started third, took the lead on lap two after pole-starting Hodges paced the opening circuit. Pursley also zoomed past his dad who's the reigning track champ, Jason Pursley, to make his way to the front. Competing for only the second time this season, Dayton Pursley never surrendered the lead the remainder of the 25-lapper, despite a strong challenge from Hodges on the final lap. Nic Bidinger was third and Jason Pursley came home in fourth. "I can't thank the Lord enough for giving me the opportunity," Dayton Pursley said in victory lane. "This is my second race of the year and first win. That's 50 percent, so it ain't bad. I want to thank my grandpa, who's worked his butt off, and my dad for his countless hours and money and everything. "I want to thank all my sponsors. I don't know what to say." Pursley drove like a veteran from the start. His lead was 1.4 seconds when the first caution flew on lap seven. Pursley drew off to a 1.6-second margin by lap 15 as Hodges and Jason Pursley gave chase. The leaders entered lapped traffic soon after and it didn't slow down the eventual winner - but a caution did on lap 19 to bunch the field for another restart with six to go. Hodges stayed within two car lengths the rest of the way after action resumed and tried a low-side bid in the final turns of the final lap, but couldn't get around the 22-year-old in his first full season driving a USRA Modified. It was Dayton Pursley's second career win at Lucas Oil Speedway, with the other coming in a USRA B-Mod in 2023. Fennewald dominates Super Stocks feature: Johnny Fennewald of Appleton City led all the way in a caution-free Hickamo Super Stocks feature, outdistancing runner-up Tony Anglin by two seconds. Fennewald grabbed the lead at the start and had a 1.9-second command over Tony Anglin at the midway point of the 20-lapper. With the race staying green throughout, Fennewald's lead wasn't threatened. Tim Brown was third with Michael Muskrat fourth and Derek Brown fifth. Fennewald lapped everyone up to Derek Brown. "We have a pretty good car now," Fennewald said. "We jumped the cushion last week and had a hell of a week. We got it fixed, working really hard this week to get it done." Cox prevails in a Late Model thriller: Tucker Cox of Jefferson City came away with the Hermitage Lumber Late Model win in a one-lap shootout set up by a caution as he and Matt Becker were dueling for the lead on what was to be the final lap. The entertaining battle between Cox and Becker featured five official lead changes, though there were more within several of the laps. It was Cox's first win of the season. "He was just using the entire race track. He was making it as hard as he could to pass," Cox said. "I was getting such a run off (turn) two, I knew that's where I could get him. I was glad to see that last caution. He was gonna chop me going there into three." Becker led the first two laps before Cox went around him on the outside to take the front on lap three. Becker moved back to the point on lap five as those two separated from the field by nearly three seconds. Becker was able to forge a half-second lead by lap 10, but Cox jumped to the high side and found speed. He closed in briefly pulled alongside Becker on lap 11 but was unable to complete the pass. Cox made a dive to the inside out of turn four on lap 15, but that didn't work, either. Finally, on lap 17, he edged into the top spot before Becker took it back the next time around. Then it was Cox in front at the white flag, but Becker regained the lead on the outside. Scott Bergen spun in turn four right in front of the leaders, who somehow dodged him,. The caution set up a one-lap sprint for the win and Cox prevailed. Bergen settled for second with Robbe Ewing third, Bryon Allison fourth and JC Morton fifth. Sheets hangs on in a B-Mod battle: Jon Sheets of Nevada picked up his third Clear Creek Golf Cars USRA B-Mod victory of the season, holding off Tyler Potter and JC Morton in a terrific finish. "The motor wasn't running right. After lap three or four, we picked up a miss," Sheets said. "We lost our fuel pressure. It was sure hindering us. I've got to thank the guys behind me for not running over me." Sheets took the lead on lap five after Colson Kirk had paced the opening laps. Sheets immediately got loose entering turn two and lost the lead - but a caution that occurred behind the leaders meant the running order for a restart reverted to the last completed lap. Sheets made the most of the opportunity after his bobble, hugging the low grooves in the turns to open a 1.3-second gap on Kirk by lap 10. Meanwhile, seventh-starting Tyler Potter supplanted Kirk for second on lap 13, just before the race's second caution. JC Morton, who started 12th, charged into third on lap 16 to make it a three-way battle for the win. They were three-wide nearing the start-finish line as the white flag was set to fly - but instead a caution appeared. That left the running order as Sheets, Potter and Morton for a two-lap finish. Sheets was able to fend off the pair the rest of the way to prevail for his 11th overall win of the season by .329 seconds over Potter with Morton .089 behind the winner. "I knew they'd be reeling me right back in," Sheets said of Potter and Morton. "There's only so long you can hold off someone like JC. The 94 car, Potter, he's good, too." Kirk settled for fourth and J.T. Carroll came home in fifth. Garner all the way for Stock Cars win: William Garner of Lebanon led all 20 laps, but had to navigate a late restart to hang on for the O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars feature win. The front row was wiped out on the first lap as pole-sitter Dawson Fennewald spun in turn four and Jaylen Wettengel clipped him and suffered a flat tire. Garner inherited the pole on the restart and set the pace, rolling to a 2.3-second lead over Beck by lap nine when a caution tightened the field. After action resumed, Garner didn't fool around. He needed just five laps to reclaim his comfortable margin over Beck with Christopher Sawyer in third. Garner's lead was fourth seconds coming to the white flag when a slower car spun to bring out one more yellow. Garner handled the restart to beat Beck by a second. Sawyer was third, James McMillin fourth and Butch Bailey fifth. "When Dawson and Jaylen got together and I hit Dawson, I thought I just ripped the rear end out of this thing," Garner said. "I don't know how I didn't get a flat. I hope his car's not too bad. It (stinks) when a race car gets tore up and you don't get to even make a lap." - JAMES McFADDEN GOES BACK-TO-BACK; TAKES NARC'S FASTEST FIVE DAYS FEATURE AT DOUGLAS COUNTY
(6/12/25 - Andrew Kunas) Roseburg, OR ... James McFadden and the Tarlton Motorsports team may have just become one of the scariest combinations on the west coast, as McFadden came back from a false start penalty and worked his way towards a second straight win to start the Fastest Five Days in Motorsports, taking Thursday's NARC 410 sprint car main event at the Douglas County Dirt Track. McFadden, who started on the pole, fell back as far as fifth in the early going, coming after he was called for jumping the initial start, but found his groove as the race proceeded and began picking off the cars in front of him, eventually challenging Justin Sanders with nine laps to go. Getting his car wound up running the outside of the track, McFadden got a run off of Turn 4 as they completed the 22nd circuit and got inside of Sanders on the front stretch. McFadden threw a slider going into Turn 1, and Sanders tried to keep his speed up around the top of the race track, but couldn't motor back by as McFadden got in front of him. Sanders had to check up and couldn't turn his car back down, and McFadden had the lead. After taking the lead on Lap 23, McFadden took off from there and won for the second straight night aboard the American Rock & Rent-sponsored Tarlton Motorsports No. 21 Kistler-powered Maxim. As he did Wednesday night at Southern Oregon Speedway, the Australian star celebrated with his patented "Shoey" celebration, drinking beer from a shoe atop his race car. He again praised the car field by Tom and Tommy Tarlton and the rest of the Tarlton Motorsports team. "Hats off to my guys. It's really tough jumping in a new car," McFadden said. "You know the rules package in Australia is different than it is here, so to get as comfortable as I am straight away is pretty cool, so hats off to those guys, working so hard and giving me a car that's great…Tom and Tommy Tarlton, their whole family." McFadden admitted to struggling in the first several laps, being upset with false start call at the beginning of the race, but gathered himself and changed up how he drove the car and where on the track, leading to his charge to the front. McFadden had won at the Douglas County Dirt Track in last August's High Limit Racing event, and added another win in Roseburg to his credit on Thursday. "It's really cool to get a win here with High Limit, and now NARC." Sanders, after leading 14 laps, backed up his third place finish from Wednesday night with a runner-up aboard the Yuba Sutter Aviation-sponsored Mittry Motorsports No. 2x Fisher-powered KPC. This continued a run of strong finishes for the reigning NARC champion, as Sanders continues to work his way back toward the top of the point standings after his roller coaster of a spring earlier this season. Dominic Scelzi, after finishing second on Wednesday, got his second straight podium finish to start the week as well, taking third aboard the Red Rose Transportation-sponsored Scelzi Enterprises No. 41 Kistler-powered Maxim. Landon Brooks, who led the first eight laps after starting second, eventually finished fourth aboard the Specified Pipe-sponsored Bates-Hamilton Racing No. 21L Kistler-powered Maxim. A night after flipping upside down, Tanner Holmes bounced back with a fifth place run in the Legacy Builder Supply-sponsored Holmes Racing No. 18t Rider-powered Triple X. Sean Becker, in his first visit to the Roseburg, Oregon track, finished sixth, followed by Jesse Schlotfeldt, Bud Kaeding, Tyler Thompson and Dominic Gorden. Following an engine swap following qualifying, Gauge Garcia came from 22nd to finish 14th and earn the Williams Roofing Hard Charger nod for the second straight night. Heat races earlier in the evening were won by Sanders, McFadden and Brooks, before McFadden won the Beacon Wealth Strategies trophy dash to secure the pole position. Scelzi paced the 24-car field in qualifying with a time of 11.889 seconds around the 3/8-mile clay oval. - Arenz etches name among Sprint Car elite with stunning High Limit victory
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) June 11, 2025 - No matter how many victories he might secure or championship trophies he may lift during the remainder of his racing career, June 5, 2025, will most certainly be a date neither Travis Arenz nor a legion of Sprint Car fans near and far will ever forget. Following a strong start to the 2025 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series, Arenz checked into 141 Speedway hoping to gain experience against top-level competition in his first career entry in a Kubota High Limit Racing event for the series' debut at 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, Wis. on Thursday, June 5. The 18th-year competitor left the 141 Speedway facility as the shocking winner of the $26,000 Rayce Rudeen Foundation top prize with High Limit Racing, which boasts a strong contingent of the best 410 Winged Sprint Car racers in the world. Arenz's remarkable evening opened by drawing the No. 1 pill for qualifying, which turned out to be very advantageous for the Sheboygan Falls, Wis. driver. As the track began to dry out significantly during the qualifying session, Arenz's early lap of 11.209 put him second in the final qualifying order among the 29-car field. After placing fourth in the second High Limit heat race, Arenz advanced to the dash, which set the first three rows of starters for the 35-lap main event. Arenz placed fifth in the dash to roll off fifth in the first High Limit Racing A main to ever be contested at 141 Speedway. The 2021 and 2022 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing and Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car champion bided his time in the opening laps of the A main sticking primarily to the bottom groove of the third-mile semi-banked egg-shaped clay oval bullring. On lap 12, Arenz snuck underneath Justin Peck to claim second. Following the third caution flag of the race on lap 15, Arenz dove low to power past leader Bill Balog and grab the top spot. From there, Arenz successfully endured four more caution flags and pulled out to a half-lap lead over the second-place car of Tanner Thorson on the way to his first career High Limit Racing main event victory in his first-ever attempt. The win also marked Arenz's third career 410 Sprint Car victory and his 73rd overall A-main triumph spanning 4-cylinders, Sport Mods, 360 Sprint Cars and 410 Sprint Cars. "It was a ride of emotions at 141," Arenz said. "It was a night that made history and one we will never forget. The night started great with the pill draw going in our favor. I would have been ecstatic with a top-10 finish. Who would have thought we would go out and win? I like to take advantage of competing with other series when I can to gain more experience and challenge my knowledge and driving skills. How are you going to get better if you don't challenge yourself? "This is the biggest accomplishment to date in my racing career," he said. "It's been talked about lately how the drivers on national series drive race cars for a living. Most have a set-up guy and paid crew members. My crew and I work full-time jobs. I work 50-plus hours a week, do maintenance on the cars and equipment and then go race. I also make set-up decisions and read track conditions. So, to be able to be competitive with these top teams is very rewarding. It's an honor to earn such a big win for my sponsors, crew and myself." After soaring to the highest of highs in the sport of Winged Sprint Car racing, Arenz endured some challenges during a pair of NOS Energy Drink World of Outlaws Series events on Friday, June 6 at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. and Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Saturday, June 7. Arenz qualified 30th overall and 15th in qualifying group B in the 39-car field with a time of 12.112 seconds at The Plymouth Dirt Track. He then placed seventh in heat race three to miss out on an A-main transfer spot by two positions. Arenz placed sixth in the 12-lap Last Chance Showdown to fall short of qualifying for the A main by a pair of spots. On Saturday, June 7, the Travis Arenz Motorsports 25T team headed southwest to the Beaver Dam Raceway where Arenz turned in the 34th fastest qualifying lap in the 36-car field in 12.139 seconds. He placed ninth in the second heat race and started 14th in the 12-lap Last Chance Showdown. After moving up to ninth on lap 6, Arenz got high in turn two and collided with the wall, which ended his night with a 14th-place showing. "At Plymouth at Beaver Dam, our drawing skills for qualifying were terrible," Arenz said. "I qualified almost last both nights and with the heavy competition, we didn't move forward as much as we needed to. There were some set-up choices I should have made differently and, unfortunately, we didn't make the features on Friday or Saturday. On Saturday, unfortunately, the wall in turn two ended our night early in the B main. I would have been interested to see what would have happened if I had been able to finish the B. In 6 laps I drove from 14th to 9th and the top four transferred to the A main. All in all, I learned so much during the weekend." Arenz will return to Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association competition on Friday, June 13 at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois and Saturday, June 14 at Federated Auto Parts I-55 Raceway Park in Pevely, Missouri. - NARC SPRINT CARS INVADE THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST FOR THE FASTEST FIVE DAYS IN MOTORSPORTS
(June 6, 2025 - Andrew Kunas) Auburn, CA ... One of the best weeks of the year for West Coast sprint car fans is here, as the NARC 410 sprint car series invades the Pacific Northwest for the annual Fastest Five Days in Motorsports, part of the "Road to the Dirt Cup." Five consecutive nights of action at as many tracks across two states are on tap, gradually moving north up the I-5 corridor. For most of the tracks, it will represent their only 410 sprint car races of the season. All of this is ahead of the $100,026-to-win Jim Raper Memorial Super Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway on June 19th, 20th and 21st. It all begins Wednesday, June 11th at Southern Oregon Speedway outside of Medford. The next night sees the series visit the Douglas County Dirt Track in Roseburg, followed by a visit to Cottage Grove Speedway, a short drive from Eugene. The final Oregon stop on Saturday, June 14th is Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, near Salem. The final day, Sunday the 15th, sees the NARC sprint cars cross the Columbia River into Washington and head to Elma for the annual Father's Day Timber Cup at Grays Harbor Raceway. Drivers from up and down the West Coast have committed to running all or at least part of the Fastest Five Days in Motorsports. And many fans will be traveling with them for the ultimate sprint car "road trip." Dominic Scelzi, the two-time NARC champion from Fresno and one of the most popular with Northwest race fans, is among those expecting to compete the entire week, and hoping for some good luck to come his way after some recent difficulties. Scelzi won last year's Timber Cup at Grays Harbor Raceway, one of his 23 career NARC triumphs, and hopes for more of that in this year's Fastest Five Days aboard the Gary Scelzi Motorsports No. 41. Reigning NARC champion Justin Sanders of Aromas has had the very meaning of an "up and down" season but has two NARC victories this season and is a still a threat to win on any given night. The 2024 "King of the West" is coming off a recent Top 5 finish at the Dave Bradway Jr Memorial and wants to stay on the "up" side of things aboard the Mittry Motorsports No. 2x during the Fastest Five Days. Dominic Gorden of Clovis is riding high with momentum himself aboard the Fortitude Driver Development No. 10, coming off a lucrative victory at the Dave Bradway Jr Memorial. The winner of two NARC events in his short sprint car career, the young driver is hoping that momentum from the Bradway continues, and he adds to his win total during the Fastest Five Days. One big name arriving in the U.S. this week is Australian superstar James McFadden, who will be piloting the Tarlton Motorsports No. 21 entry for the Fastest Five Days and the Dirt Cup at Skagit. McFadden, the winner of 12 World of Outlaws and three High Limit Racing events, was also the winner in January of the Grand Annual Sprintcar Classic, Australia's largest sprint car race. Having previously won a NARC event; McFadden is anticipated to immediately compete with the Tarlton team. This team has already experienced success this season with Tanner Holmes as the driver, including securing a NARC victory at Thunderbowl Raceway in May. Many more drivers from California will be making the trip to the Northwest, including former NARC Rookie of the Year Caeden Steele, who recently won his first NARC feature, and 2025 rookie candidate Mariah Ede, both from the Fresno area, along with former NARC champions DJ Netto of Hanford, Bud Kaeding of Campbell, and Sean Becker of Oroville. Benicia's Billy Aton, winner of one NARC feature in his career, is expected also along with a number of drivers who are strong candidates for their first NARC wins, including Lemoore's Gauge Garcia, Rio Oso's Landon Brooks and Tucson's Nick Parker. Angelique Bell from Sacramento, Redding's Max Mittry, John Clark of Windsor, and Laton's Geoffrey Strole are all also expected to join. NORTHWEST DRIVERS DEFENDING THEIR TURF Speaking of Tanner Holmes, the young driver from Jacksonville, Oregon has been looking forward to this stretch of races in his home state and region. After racing for the Tarlton team, Holmes will jump into his family's No. 18T for this week's races and looks to perform well in front of friends and family. Southern Oregon Speedway will always be a special place to Holmes as last year's Fastest Five Days opener saw Holmes win his first NARC race. Holmes has won sprint car features at all four of the Oregon tracks NARC is visiting, including already this season at Cottage Grove, and hopes that it translates to more NARC success. Tyler Thompson, piloting the Main Motorsports No. 35km, is also racing on home soil this week. The Harrisburg, Oregon driver is a former track champion at Cottage Grove Speedway. Chasing NARC Rookie of the Year honors and sitting third in point standings, Thompson is hoping his familiarity with the Oregon tracks can be a spark, as he is one of the drivers pursuing his first NARC feature victory. It would also surprise absolutely none of the Oregon sprint car fans if Tyler Thompson and Tanner Holmes wound up racing each other with a victory on the line at any of the four races in the Beaver State. Whether it's in their family cars or racing for others, Thompson and Holmes have always seemed to find themselves racing around each other, going back to their younger days racing limited sprint cars. It's continued in the 410 ranks as the young men have found themselves racing each other for position multiple times in NARC competition this year. Drivers from Washington state and British Columbia are expected to venture down for all or part of the Fastest Five Days in Motorsports. One will be Cobble Hill, B.C.'s Robbie Price, a former Dirt Cup winner who won his first NARC race at last year's Willamette Speedway event. Jesse Schlotfeldt of Arlington, Washington will be a driver from the Evergreen State to watch. Schlotfeldt is a 410 winner at Skagit this season and also has wins this spring at both Douglas County Dirt Track and Grays Harbor Raceway in non-NARC competition to his credit. Schlotfeldt had indicated his plan to run the entire week and hopes to be a first-time NARC winner sometime during the week. Levi Klatt from British Columbia, a former Skagit Speedway track champion, has said he will run at least the first three races in Oregon, and depending on how things go sticking around for the last two races are a possibility for him. Medford, Oregon's Camden Robustelli, a standout from dwarf cars who has been finding success in limited and 360 sprint cars, has gotten his feet wet in 410 sprint cars and plans to get seat time against the stars of NARC. Robustelli indicated his plans to run at least four Oregon races, but if things go well, he may continue north to Elma for the Timber Cup and to Skagit for Dirt Cup. - Arenz stays course to secure IRA top 10s
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) May 28, 2025 -Travis Arenz battled through a handful of challenges to pile up two more top-10 A-main showings during a doubleheader weekend of Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series action at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, May 24 and 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, Wis. on Sunday, May 25. The 2021 and 2022 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing and Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car champ kicked off the Memorial Day Weekend twin bill by qualifying fifth in the 36-car field at Wilmot Raceway on May 24 with a lap of 12.409 seconds. After starting on the pole of the second IRA heat race, Arenz cruised to his second heat race victory of the 2025 season to earn a dash position. However, mechanical gremlins prompted Arenz to withdraw from the first dash. "Unfortunately, the engine's coolant temp spiked," Arenz said. "Without wanting to possibly cause more damage to the motor, we pulled the backup car down. I did well in qualifying and won my heat race. I was supposed to be in the dash, but decided it was smart to pull off and get the backup car ready before the feature." Despite encountering less-than-ideal track conditions for passing, Arenz remained undeterred as he blasted the cushion from the 23rd starting position to secure a solid eighth-place showing. One night later, Arenz qualified 12th in the 30-car field at 141 Speedway. After starting on the pole, the Sheboygan Falls, Wis. driver earned his second heat race victory of the weekend to set himself up for his fifth dash appearance of the 2025 season. After placing fourth in the first four-lap dash, Arenz rolled off from the seventh starting position for the 30-lap main event. Arenz held his own throughout the first half of the race before coming home seventh on a rubber-down one-lane racing surface. "We got up early Sunday morning and swapped motors into my main car and did maintenance before heading to 141," Arenz said. "The track conditions at 141 weren't the most favorable. I started seventh in the feature and finished in the same spot. There wasn't much passing during any race throughout the night due to track conditions, but we gave it our all." The IRA is off over the next two weeks. In the meantime, Arenz plans to enter the High Limit Racing Series event at 141 Speedway on Tuesday, June 5. Check the Travis Arenz Motorsports Facebook and X (Twitter) pages for schedule announcements regarding the team's potential entry in additional events during the World of Outlaws Series swing through Wisconsin June 5-7. - Naida earns 1st Fremont win; Miller dominates 305s; Valenti gets truck win for 83rd career Fremont victory
FREMONT, Ohio - Darin Naida got his first laps in a sprint car at Fremont Speedway in 2022 and competed at "The Track That Action Built" many times over the past couple of years and the place frustrated him. Naida, from Adrian, Mich., put those years of frustration and learning to use Saturday, May 10, earning his first ever 410 sprint win at Fremont Speedway Presented by Gill Construction on Autokiniton Night. Naida, who picked up a win the previous week at a track in Michigan, took the lead from Craig Mintz on a restart with just 10 laps to go and drove to the win over Mintz who led the first 19 laps of the race, Cap Henry, Kasey Jedrzejek and Bryce Lucius. For Naida, Fremont Speedway's 2022 410 sprint rookie of the year, it was a very emotional win considering his grandfather, John, was Fremont's 1978 sprint car track champion and is inducted into the Fremont Speedway Hall of Fame. "This means a ton. I've probably raced here more than anywhere else in the country and to come on top is crazy. I came here in 2022 never drove a sprint car before and man I hated this place for like two years. I have to thank so many people for getting me here. L and M Properties, and Deddy Bears and Poor Racing and Ackland Insurance and Level Utilities and STP Motorsports. I have to thank Tyson…he's here tonight. My dad and my mom stuck with me through this all and all my crew guys and Harley for her support. I have to thank Evan and my little brother and Patrick and Greg. This means a ton," said Naida. "I struggled getting good on the restarts…I didn't have a lot of grip but it made is so good everywhere else on the race track. I felt like I could get through one and two with way more speed than him (Mintz) and as soon as I saw him just trying to putt around the tires I just ran the shit out of that thing…we were so much better," said Naida beside his Slusarski Excavating & Paving, Ackland Insurance, Poor Racing, L&M Properties, Deddy Bears, Rhino Racing, Level Utilities, Townline Variety backed #7N. Cap Henry's third place finish will keep him solidly atop the standings for the All Pro Aluminum Heads/Kistler Racing Products Attica Fremont Championship Series Presented by the Baumann Auto Group as he looks to earn his fourth series' title. While the stats will show Blayne Keckler led the first 14 laps of the 25-lap Fremont Federal Credit Union 305 Sprint A-main and Dustin Stroup led lap 15. But when Jamie Miller, Fremont's defending 305 sprint track champion, drove from third to the lead at the half-way point he put on a dominating performance, lapping up to eighth place in the non-stop feature. Miller's 53rd career Fremont Speedway victory came over Stroup, Keckler, Shawn Valenti and Matt Foos rounding out the top five. It was a weekend sweep for Miller in the 305 sprints as he won the previous night at Attica Raceway Park. He looks to repeat as the Real Geese Decoys/Real Capz AFCS champion. "The track was very technical tonight. You had a little of everything on the race track. It was very racy. Early in the race I didn't know if I was going to get there. I was struggling a little bit but we started to burn some fuel off and the car got better and here I am again," said Miller beside of Boca Construction, JLH General Contractors, Kenny Kolb Farms, Tuck Pointing America, Queen of Clean, Smitty's Pizza, Roberts & Sons Contracting, Pizza Wheel, Crown Battery, Pub 400, Reedtown Tavern, Fostoria Mod Shop, Sandy's Dad, Gressman Powersports, Phil Rister, Slade Shock Technology backed #26. Once it got going the Burmeister Trophy Dirt Truck A-main was entertaining with just a pair of cautions flying late. Craig Dippman lead the first five laps but it wasn't easy as Dustin Keegan, Keith Sorg and Shawn Valenti applying pressure. Valenti drove into the lead on lap six and built an over three second lead before a caution flew with just three laps to go. Sorg applied tremendous pressure for the lead the final three laps but Valenti hung on for the win with Sorg, Keegan, Brad Stuckey and Jamie Miller rounding out the top five. The win is #83 at Fremont Speedway for Valenti is leads the all-time win list. "I was rolling pretty good getting through lapped traffic and I didn't know Keith was out there and I kind of squeezed him into the outside wall…I apologize for that. He caught me off-guard and made me get back on the wheel of this thing," said Valenti beside his Craig Miller Trucking, Conrad Transportation, Dave Story Equipment, A Plus Auto Center, Smolders Speed Concepts, S&S Hauling and Excavating backed #7B. - NARC SPRINT CARS HEAD TO TULARE FOR CHRIS & BRIAN FARIA MEMORIAL RACE
(4/21/25 - Andrew Kunas) Tulare, CA ,,, A Thunderbowl Raceway cornerstone event is next on tap for the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series, which will race in the Chris & Brian Faria Memorial this Saturday, April 26th. Saturday's event is the first of two visits that NARC will make to the 1/3-mile, high-banked clay oval located at the Tulare County Fairgrounds this season. This marks the third stop on the 27-event NARC campaign. First contested in 2002, the event honors a pair of brothers from the Faria family, longtime participants in California racing. Chris Faria, who was an up-and-coming racer, passed away after a farming accident in 1993. His older brother Brian, who was active behind the scenes at Thunderbowl Raceway, tragically passed away in early 2006 in a traffic accident, and Brian's name was soon put alongside his brother's name for this race. The event, held at one of California's most challenging dirt tracks, has long been looked forward to by NARC competitors and fans, and the list of past winners of the race reads like a who's who of west coast sprint car racing. Jason Meyers, a future two-time World of Outlaws champion, won the inaugural event in 2002. National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Brent Kaeding won it twice in the latter years of his legendary career. A young kid named Kyle Larson, years before the NASCAR world got to know him, was the 2010 winner of the race. NARC champions such as D.J. Netto and Kyle Hirst are also past winners. Last year's Chris & Brian Faria Memorial was rained out on its original sprint date, but the series and Thunderbowl Raceway were able to reschedule the event to October 12th, and it was Cole Macedo picking up the victory that night. Netto, who lives just down the road from Thunderbowl Raceway in Hanford, currently leads the NARC point standings after two completed events aboard the Netto Ag No. 88N. With his win in the season opening event at Stockton Dirt Track, followed by his fourth place run at the Mini Gold Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway, Netto carries a five-point advantage over Templeton's Kaleb Montgomery. Montgomery, having driven two different cars in two races, turned in Top 5 finishes each time, including a third-place effort at the Mini Gold Cup. WHO TO WATCH Justin Sanders, after a tough month of March, bounced back in a big way at Silver Dollar Speedway, winning the Mini Gold Cup after a last lap battle with Tanner Holmes. With the $10,000 NARC victory at Chico, the reigning NARC "King of the West" clawed back to sixth in the standings, only 12 points out of the lead and feeling that momentum is back on the side of the Mittry Motorsports No. 2x. Fremont's Shane Golobic enters the night third in the NARC point standings aboard the Matt Wood Racing No. 17w. While Golobic did not fare well in the Faria Memorial race last October, he was victorious in the NARC race at the Tulare clay oval in May. Golobic has been competitive at Thunderbowl Raceway, logging many top five and top ten finishes over the years, including a seventh place run just last month with the High Limit Racing series during their spring California swing. Others expected to compete include Roseville's Sean Becker and Ryan Bernal, Lincoln's Tanner Carrick, San Jose's Tim Kaeding, Oakley's Dylan Bloomfield, Tyler Thompson from Oregon, Arizona's Ashton Torgerson, Chance Grasty from Suisun City, Campbell's Bud Kaeding, Benicia's Billy Aton, John Clark from Windsor, Landon Brooks from Rio Oso, and many others. Central California will be well represented in the pit area with competitors including two-time series champion Dominic Scelzi and Gauge Garcia from Fresno, 2024 Rookie of the Year Caeden Steele of Lemoore, and Dominic Gorden and Mariah Ede from Clovis. FAN INFO It will be all sprint cars on Saturday night at Thunderbowl Raceway, as winged 360 Kings of Thunder sprint cars and California Racesaver sprints will also be in action. The NARC portion of the program includes qualifying, three eight-lap heat races, a six-lap trophy dash, and a 30-lap feature event headliner. Tickets will be available at the front gate for fans. Grandstand tickets are $35, and $33 for seniors. Bleacher seats are $30 for adults, $28 for seniors and $15 for kids 12 and under. Pit passes are $45. Front gates open at 4:00 p.m. Hot laps are scheduled for 5:00 p.m. with qualifying at 6:00 and racing beginning at 7:00 p.m. For first time visitors, Thunderbowl Raceway is located at the Tulare County Fairgrounds on K Street. - NARC SPRINT CAR TEAMS HEAD TO CHICO IN PURSUIT OF $10,000 MINI GOLD CUP WINNER CHECK
(4/7/25 - Andrew Kunas) Chico, CA ... The first big money race of the season has arrived for the NARC 410 sprint cars, with the prestigious Mini Gold Cup happening this Saturday, April 12th at Silver Dollar Speedway. Saturday's winner will score NARC's first five-figure payday of 2025, taking home $10,000 for their efforts. First run in 1987, the Mini Gold Cup was a longtime staple on the Northern California sprint car schedule, bringing fans and competitors to the challenging ¼-mile clay oval in Chico. Several editions over the years saw the event on the World of Outlaws schedule, but it has otherwise been a NARC event. After a hiatus of a few years that started with the COVID-19 plagued 2020 season, the SLC Promotions team brought the beloved event back a couple of years ago. Regardless of sanction, the Mini Gold Cup has long been a premier season event sprint car fans on the West Coast. Cole Macedo won last year's Mini Gold Cup after leader Ryan Robinson crashed on the final lap. It was Macedo's second Mini Gold Cup win, that one coming aboard the Tarlton Motorsports No. 21. With Macedo now on the World of Outlaws tour, the Tarlton team has been going with Jacksonville, Oregon standout Tanner Holmes. The pairing has already found success, winning an earlier race at Silver Dollar Speedway and then turning into multiple Top 5 finishes with High Limit Racing during their March swing through California. That has many fans pointing at Holmes as one of the favorites on Saturday. Hanford's D.J. Netto, with his win in last month's NARC season opener at the Stockton Dirt Track, has the points lead aboard the Netto Ag No. 88n going into the weekend with a four-point advantage over Fremont's Shane Golobic. Netto, a former NARC champion, will be one to watch, as he won twice in other 410 sprint car competition at Silver Dollar Speedway last year, including the Friday night Mini Gold Cup Tune-Up. Golobic also already is a winner in Chico this season in non-NARC competition, winning the night before Holmes did. Golobic and the Matt Wood Racing No. 17w are also hoping that translates to NARC success at the Mini Gold Cup on Saturday. In the Mini Gold Cup record books, National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Brent Kaeding leads everyone with four total Mini Gold Cup triumphs, taking checkered flags in 1991, 1993, 1996 and 2001. A pair of World of Outlaws champions, Jason Meyers, and Donny Schatz each have three wins in the prestigious race. WHO TO WATCH One other driver who will be watched is reigning NARC champion Justin Sanders of Aromas. The 2024 "King of the West" won the David Tarter Memorial last June when the NARC 410 sprint cars last tackled Silver Dollar Speedway, one of his seven NARC wins en route to the series championship. Sanders and the Mittry Motorsports No. 2x are looking at the Mini Gold Cup as the perfect opportunity to bounce back after a disappointing month of March. Never one to be counted out at Silver Dollar Speedway, San Jose's Tim Kaeding is always one to keep an eye on aboard the Williams Motorsports No. 0. A two-time "King of the West" and one of NARC's all-time winningest drivers with 74 victories, Kaeding has won several big races in Chico over the years, and that includes two Mini Gold Cups, those wins coming in 2005 and 2007. Templeton driver Kaleb Montgomery gave a strong performance at the Salute to Leroy Van Conett at Stockton on March 8th, driving from 15th to finish 4th in the NARC season opener. He later turned more heads by making the dash and finishing fifth in a High Limit Racing main event at Perris Auto Speedway. After this prior weekend's cancelations, fans remain eager to see what the young driver has ahead of him as he pursues his first NARC victory aboard the Montgomery Racing No. 3. A full field of sprint car teams are expected to fill the pit area. Other drivers expected to compete on Friday night include Roseville's Sean Becker, Oakley's Dylan Bloomfield, Tanner Carrick of Lincoln, Clovis drivers Dominic Gorden and Mariah Ede, Bud Kaeding of Campbell, Arizona driver Ashton Torgerson, Landon Brooks from Rio Oso, Tyler Thompson from Oregon, Lemoore's Caeden Steele, Gauge Garcia of Fresno, Benicia's Billy Aton and many more. FAN INFO Front gates open at 4:00 pm, with hot laps at 5:30 pm and qualifying to follow at 6:00 pm. Racing is scheduled to start at 6:45 pm. BCRA lightning sprints are also scheduled to compete. As a bonus for fans, Silver Dollar Speedway is also racing on Friday night, April 11th, with 410 sprint cars in action as a tune-up for Saturday's $10,000 to win Mini Gold Cup. Fans who cannot make it in person can watch live on www.floracing.com. FloRacing livestreams all NARC shows.
