- BRODY ROA AND TOMMY DUNKEL'S TURKEY NIGHT GRAND PRIX DID NOT GO AS PLANNED
(Cypress, CA, December 1, 2023) To say that the Inland Rigging Sprint Car team had a dream season in 2023 is an understatement. Brody Roa won the USAC/CRA championship and Tommy and Christy Dunkel captured the car owner title. Dunkel scored his first-ever sprint car win in a VRA race at Ventura in April. Roa won eight USAC/CRA races and scored another victory in a Southern California Open Comp race at Imperial. Between the two, heading into the Turkey Night Grand Prix, they had 37 starts and rolled the cars back into the trailer all but one time. It was indeed a dream season. A Kenny Lonngren photo of Brody Roa and the Inland Rigging Racing Team Logo are attached to this release. If everything up to Ventura was a dream, the 82nd running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix ended up being a frustrating nightmare for the team. Last week, Tommy Dunkel sat down and reflected on the nightmarish end to the year. S.D.: The Inland Rigging team came into Turkey Night with high hopes with newly crowned USAC/CRA Champion Brody Roa, and yourself who won at Ventura this season. In addition, you had Eddie Tafoya flying the Inland colors at Ventura where he was fast qualifier in a USAC/CRA race in 2022. You guys were certainly prepared for a big weekend. Dunkel: We came in swinging for the fences. We thought we had a super good shot between me, Brody, and Eddie Tafoya. We have all had some pretty good success there. We came in there with our heads held high for sure. S.D.: How did your own night start? Dunkel: My hot laps were okay. Typical Ventura, super greasy and they threw the green way too soon. I was still okay with it being there were 53 cars or whatever it was (plus 48 midgets). My heat race was good. I started second and fell back one spot but I was on them. I was on first and second showing them a wheel. I was very happy (after) as it was still super one lane on the bottom. I did not want to chance junking my stuff having to physically move people out of the way. When it goes one lane that is what it comes down too. You have to start moving people. We came out of it with a third and it was a fairly stacked heat race. S.D.: What happened next? Dunkel: That was heat three. I got back to the pits and got out of my car and got back up there to watch Brody in heat five. That is when disaster struck. S.D.: At that point, things began to unravel fast with Brody's crash. What caused it? Dunkel: The initial start, he had a great start. I think he started 5th and he was up to second. Some people spun behind him on the opening lap. So, of course, they had to rerack them with everybody back to their original spot (for the restart). He was coming into three and I think he expected the car in front of him to stick to the bottom. I wouldn't say the guy slid up by any means, but he certainly did not hug the bottom like you would if you were running the bottom. Brody just clipped the right rear and that is what sent him for a big ride. S.D.: It was a scary crash and it was obvious from the time he stopped flipping that he had sustained an injury and he was initially unconscious. What were his injuries? Dunkel: When he got to the hospital he was very dazed. He was kind of coming and going as far as (knowing) where he was at. He got his bell rung. After some scans, he had a brain bleed. So they monitored him over night. By the morning they had the brain bleed stopped. By mid-morning they were in a position to release him from the hospital. He was very sore and obviously very shaken up but he is home and is well. S.D.: Brody left for the hospital in an ambulance. You still had a race and possibly two to go. However, you decided to sit out the rest of the night. Dunkel: Until we knew Brody was stable and okay, I made the decision to stay out of the car. I kind of felt like my head was not right with my driver being injured. If it was the average deal where he was sitting in the motorhome sore, absolutely I would have gotten back in the car. But we were kind of in the dark about how bad his head injury was. So, I decided to sit out. S.D.: Brody was out at the hospital and you pulled out. You still had Eddie Tafoya Jr. flying the Inland Rigging flag. Unfortunately, somebody else's faux pas knocked him out of his heat. Dunkel: It was super cool to help Eddie. I put a power plant in his car. It was unfortunate that he got upside down on Friday night because of another driver's mistake. The other (who caused the crash) driver came over to my pit and said, 'man did you see that? That was a brand new left rear tire.' I was obviously already shook up from the night. I have Brody in the hospital, me not running the rest of the night, and Tafoya upside down because of this driver. And there he is complaining to me about a tire. I don't want to say I let him have it, but he knows I was not happy." S.D.: You pulled out of the Friday night portion of the show. Why did you decide to continue on Saturday rather than throwing in the towel and coming home? Dunkel: So, we got the green light that Brody was okay and everything was going to be all right. Brody said, 'Hey, I am good. You guys go out and hammer down and represent the team.' We as a team decided to race. I knew I was behind the eight ball because I did not run my qualifier (Friday night) but I figured I was okay. I had passed a lot of cars there before. I knew that is what I had to do again. S.D.: You had to be relieved that Brody was going to be okay and you decided to race. Everything was fine. That is, it was momentarily fine. What happened next.? Dunkel: We just finished up having breakfast. I told my son Aiden I would be out there in a second. Let's get the car unloaded and get ready. I was still in the motor home finishing up my coffee and I just heard a crashing sound and blood-curdling screaming. Everyone had come running. What it was, was the tension cables on the hauler door had snapped and the door fell and crushed my son. S.D.: That had to be extremely frightening when you realized what had just happened. Dunkel: There was one guy from Jimmy May's camp who was out prepping their car. He saw the whole thing and came running to his aid. He could not get the door up by himself. Malyssa Perkins was close by and she helped. Enough guys got over there so we could get the doors up and at least get him out from underneath it. He was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. After some scans and things, it was determined that he had a broken back and a broken sacrum. He spent Saturday to Wednesday afternoon at the Ventura County Hospital. S.D.: How is your son doing? Dunkel: He is doing much, much better. He is home. They want to see how well he does at home managing his pain. If it gets to be too much, then we will have to take him back. He is standing and he is kind of shuffling his feet to move ever so slowly. It is very positive progress but he has a long road ahead of him. S.D.: Needless to say with those two guys injured, you decided to pull out of Saturday's race. That should have put an end to all of the bad fortune, but that was not the case. What happened next? Dunkel: Saturday night we had one of our guys from Inland Rigging come up to drive our dually and small trailer home because that is what Aiden drives. He came up. His girlfriend was nice enough to give him a ride. We gave them our bicycles (e-bikes) to ride back to the hotel (very close to the track). They were locked in the truck in a locked camper shell and some thieves broke in and cut the locks and stole our not so cheap e-bikes! It just added insult to injury without a doubt. S.D.: I take it that is going to be the worst racing weekend you are ever going to have, correct? Dunkel: Yeah, that is done. That is the worst, it is out of the way and we are moving forward. S.D.: Upcoming is a busy week for you and the team. You are headed back to Indiana for among other things, the USAC banquet where Brody and you will receive your just rewards for winning the USAC/CRA title. Dunkel: You know what? It has given us something positive to look forward to. To celebrate the championship with the Roa group. It is a nice feather in our cap as a new team together. What the Roa's have spent so long doing and perfecting. They earned it. I just feel privileged to have the opportunity with those guys and go get a championship as a car owner. Brody and I have been pretty close for seven or eight years now. We are really looking forward to going there, letting loose a little bit, and getting to celebrate. S.D.: What is the itinerary for your time in the "Hoosier State?" Dunkel: We are flying out Wednesday night. DRC Chassis, which is the car we run, is having an open house on Thursday. We are going to attend that. With his chassis,' I want to say we are at 11 wins combined between Brody and I this year. Joe (Joe Devin who owns DRC) is pretty excited to have us there and we are excited to go. Friday is the banquet, and on Saturday we are going to attend P.R.I. S.D.: Are you already preparing for next year? Dunkel: We kind of have some big things in the works. We are planning to do as much CRA as possible. Malyssa Perkins and I are working together to put a new series together for 360 cars. It is going to be called the IRSCS (Inland Rigging Sprint Car Series). We are going to run at a handful of tracks. It is going to be open to 360s and 410s. 410s will just have to run a restrictor. Brody and I are going to focus on that series being that we are heavily involved with it. I am still going to run for CRA Rookie of the Year, but it just kind of depends on how the first half of the season goes. Our plan is to hit as many races as we can in the first half of the season and just kind of see how we are both doing. Brody has a new kid (his second daughter who was born earlier this year) and with running so hard as long as he has, he came and did what he had to do. That was winning the championship (USAC/CRA). I know he is ready to go back to just fun racing and run a light schedule. I am going to put Eddie (Tafoya) in a car for our series (in 2024) and he will run his own car in USAC/CRA. I know he wants to win a championship there. Dunkel and Roa want to thank the following sponsors for making the 2023 season possible. Inland Rigging, Dunkel Farms, United Asset Sales, Osborne Speed & Machine, "Biker" Bruce Fischer, ALR Virtual Services, Burris Racing, Caltrol, Jambo Barbeque Pits, Competition Suspension, K-1 Race Gear, Molecule, Rod End Supply, Driven Racing Oil, Baldwin Filters, and NGK Spark Plugs. - Season No. 33 For The ASCS National Tour Revealed!
Bryan Hulbert - DRUMRIGHT, Okla. (December 2, 2023) Gearing up for the 33rd season of competition, the American Sprint Car Series presented by RacinDirt.com has set out a 49-race lineup for the 2024 season that visits 34 tracks across a dozen states. A mix of familiar places and new faces, the series will also see its footprint expanding back out after consolidating tighter into the mid-west over the last two seasons. "It's been interesting doing the schedule for 2024 and being able put events back into the lineup that have been absent, as well as continue to add new events," stated series owner Terry Mattox. "It's always a challenge putting together a lineup that makes logistical and economic sense for teams, but going to 49 events at 34 tracks is a big improvement and shows the popularity of the tour. This series has always been a proving ground for new and veteran teams. We had a great title fight for 2023, and I think 2024 is going to be even better." Breakdown by State: Arkansas: Three visits into the state of Arkansas, with another potential stop still sitting as a TBA, Batesville Motor Speedway will greet the tour for the 12th time on June 22. Texarkana 67 Speedway, as of now, will end out the 2024 season with the COMP Cams Short Track Nationals on November 1 and 2. Arizona: Kicking off the 2024 season at Cocopah Speedway in Somerton and Central Arizona Speedway in Casa Grande, the first four events in the desert are non-point shows for teams to get tuned up. Cocopah Speedway has seen the tour 15 times, with the last visit coming in 2017. A regular stop for the ASCS Southwest Region, Central Arizona has been on the schedule before but has never hosted the National Tour. Iowa: Three Iowa ovals grace the 2024 lineup. Two regular stops and a new addition, the stop in the town of Knoxville lasts three days, dishes out over $150,000, and is the kickoff to Southern Iowa Sprint Week. Happening August 1-3, the Xtreme Powered by Mediacom 360 Knoxville Nationals, presented by Great Southern Bank, will bring the tour count to 84. Returning in September, Clay County Speedway in Spencer has a dancing partner this time, with Winneshiek Raceway in Decorah hosting their first event on Saturday, September 7, while Clay County goes green for the fourth time on Tuesday, September 10. Kansas: Six nights of racing will roll through the state of Kansas with stops at five tracks. Twice at Dodge City Raceway on June 1 and August 24, the first stop at Dodge is paired with Rush County Speedway in La Crosse on May 31, with both nights paying $5,000 to win. WaKeeney Speedway joins the next trip on August 23. Lakeside and 81 Speedway each have one night in 2024, with Kansas City on May 24 and Park City on July 20. Kentucky: Rolling back to life and back on the National Tour's schedule is Paducah International Raceway. One of several tours making trips to the legendary oval, the tour's last visit was in 2018. Surrounded by a TBA, the Kentucky date is October 12. Louisiana: Tried last year and won by Mother Nature, the tour will head back to Super Bee Speedway in Chatham on April 19 and 20. Formerly Jones Motor Speedway, a Monday Speedweek show took place in 2012 and was the sixth time the tour rolled into town. Missouri: The home of the Diamond of Dirt Tracks and of course, the Hockett/McMillin Memorial, Lucas Oil Speedway's September 12, 13, and 14 event pays $10,000 to win, and is one of two tracks in the "Show-Me State" on the National lineup. Lake Ozark Speedway occupies the first round of visits on May 25 and 26. There is one TBA in Missouri as of now. Montana: A much-anticipated return, Gallatin Speedway will see action on July 12, with Electric City Speedway in Great Falls back on the schedule for the first time since 2015. Oklahoma: Seven nights at just as many tracks; Oklahoma has the most tracks per state on the 2024 lineup. Tulsa Speedway returns to the tour on May 10, followed by the massive Salina Highbanks Speedway the following night. Creek County Speedway on June 13 starts a three-night kick that includes Arrowhead Speedway in Colcord on June 14, then Lawton Speedway for $5,000 to win on June 15. Muskogee's Thunder Speedway will see action on July 19, with Outlaw Motor Speedway taking August 30. Texas: The most nights of any state on the schedule at nine; those are split between five facilities. South Texas Race Ranch in Corpus Christi kicks off the 2024 point's chase on March 1 and 2, with RPM Speedway on the schedule for the first time on March 15 and 16. Two trips accounting for four nights, the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track is back for the first time since 2019 with a stop on April 5 and 6, then October 4 and 5. The finale of both doubleheaders pays $5,000 to win. A track nearly lost to the pages of history, Lone Star Speedway in Kilgore is back in action, with the tour back on August 31. The $ 5,000-to-win affair is the first time back since 2012. Wisconsin: Mississippi Thunder Speedway will be the site of the tour's first trip into the "Badger State" on September 6. The stop joins with Iowa stops at Decorah the following night, then Spencer on Tuesday. TBA: One more state and two more tracks sit in the TBA column. Updates on those events will be posted once confirmed. Terry Mattox will continue his role as series owner and direction of competition in 2024. Any questions about scheduling, rules, or otherwise can be directed to him via email at terry@ascsracing.com or by phone at (918) 417-0624. National Tour events, with the exception of Knoxville and the Short Track Nationals, will be shown live on RacinDirt.com. The 2024 season will mark the 33rd year of competition for the American Sprint Car Series. Spearheaded by the American Sprint Car Series National Tour, the ASCS Nation includes Regional Tours that encompass both wing and non-wing competition. - EDDIE TAFOYA JR. WRAPPED UP HIS 2023 SEASON AT VENTURA'S TURKEY NIGHT GRAND PRIX
(Chino, CA, November 27, 2023) Nine months after he began his 2023 racing season with the USAC National Sprint Car Series in Florida, Eddie Tafoya Jr. concluded the year at last Saturday's Turkey Night Grand Prix at the Ventura Raceway. Unfortunately, the results of the flat right rear sustained in the previous night's action handicapped him on Saturday night and he missed the transfer to the main by two spots. Attached to this release is a photo of Eddie Tafoya Jr. with his father Eddie Sr., and a Specialty Fasteners logo. After scoring an impressive green-to-checkers win in his heat on Friday, Tafoya was running in third in his qualifier and seemed headed for one of the coveted 10 guaranteed spots in Saturday's A main. That all changed when a car spun directly in front of the Chino Hills, California driver leaving him nowhere to go. It also left three more cars behind him with nowhere to go. When all was said and done, there was not much damage on the #51T and he was ready for the restart. However, before the green flag waved again, his left rear tire deflated sending him to the infield for the duration. The flat tire sent Tafoya into a do-or-die B main event on Saturday. The B main was 12 laps and it started with 16 cars. Only the top six would earn a ticket to the prestigious Turkey Night Grand Prix main event. The 26-year-old driver began the race on the inside of the 6th row in 11th. Thus, he had his work cut out for him on the tiny track that features narrow straightaways that are hard to pass on in full-size sprint cars. For the length of the 12 lapper, Tafoya managed to stay out of the chaos that plagued the race. He passed three cars to move up to eighth and was leaning on the seventh-place car when time ran out and the checkered flag ended the quick race. The race was Tafoya's final night of a busy season that saw him make 20 appearances with the USAC National Sprint Cars, six shows with USAC/CRA, and single races in the USAC West Coast Series and the POWRi War Sprints. With the racing portion of the year over, the preparation for 2024 begins. The cars will be stripped down and gone over for the upcoming season. Replacement and spare parts will be ordered. In addition, Tafoya will be exploring marketing opportunities. If you or your company would like to be a marketing partner with this fast-rising, high-profile team next year, please contact Eddie Tafoya Jr. via phone at (909) 393-3999 or by e-mail at mailto:teamtafoya@aol.com. He will be happy to talk to you and lay out the team's plans for 2024. If you would like to hear the friendly driver on the Dirt Tracks and Rib Racks Podcast, please visit the following link https://open.spotify.com/episode/1Hox9dg0iRGXo0szabeqDy Tafoya's great-looking shirts and hoodies are available online at www.specialty-fasteners.com. - EDDIE TAFOYA JR. WINS TURKEY NIGHT GRAND PRIX HEAT BUT DROPS OUT OF QUALIFIER WITH A FLAT TIRE
(Chino, CA, November 24, 2023) Eddie Tafoya Jr. returned to the Ventura Raceway for the first time in a year and a half on Friday night for the sprint car portion of the 82nd running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix. After an impressive win in his heat race, Tafoya was knocked out of his qualifier with a flat left rear tire. A photo of Eddie Tafoya Jr. and his father Eddie Tafoya Sr. and the Specialty Fasteners' logo is attached to this release. Fresh off a trip to Las Vegas for last week's Formula 1 race, Tafoya squared off against a tough field in the sixth heat of the night. Starting from the pole on the track that is located on the beach about 70 miles north of Los Angeles, the personable Chino Hills, California driver flew into the lead at the Chris Kornder green flag. In the last half of the race, he faced a stiff challenge from the second-place car. However, he hit his marks and fought off the advances for a well-deserved win. With the addition of Inland Rigging as a sponsor for the holiday weekend race, Tafoya came back onto the 1/5 mile oval for Qualifier #4. Combined with his win in the heat, a good performance in the 12-lap race would guarantee him a spot in the dash and Saturday's A main. Tafoya was in third when disaster struck on lap two. The second-place car slid sideways and came to a stop in turn four. Tafoya had virtually nowhere to go and clipped the front of the car. Another driver, who also had nowhere to go, clobbered Tafoya and sent him onto the nose of the car that spun. Two more cars piled in and Tafoya's #51T tipped over onto its right side. When the red flag came out for the incident, Tafoya scrambled out of the cockpit as fuel was pouring from his car. Amazingly, it appeared none of the cars suffered significant damage in the tangle and all were ready for the restart. However, after bumping back off, Tafoya's left rear tire deflated and he pulled to the infield, and out of the race. What looked like a trip to the dash and guaranteed spot in Saturday's main event, has turned into Tafoya now having to contest a preliminary main and finish well to get into Saturday's Turkey Night Grand Prix finale. He and his car are capable and he is one of the favorites to transfer out of the preliminary into the A main event. After competing most of the season in the USAC National Sprint Car Series, Tafoya has honed his skill against the best and his car is top-notch. Combined, they are capable of coming through the field to compete for the victory. Spectator gates will open at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday with racing at 5:00. - INLAND RIGGING DRIVERS ROA AND DUNKEL FINISH 2023 SEASON AT THE TURKEY NIGHT GRAND PRIX AT VENTURA
(Cypress, CA, November 23, 2023) Inland Rigging drivers Brody Roa and Tommy Dunkel will wrap up their 2023 seasons this Saturday night at the historic 82nd running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix at Jim Naylor's Ventura Raceway. The two drivers will run their preliminary events on Friday night in the USAC West Coast Series. They will come back on Saturday evening for their main events. Joining the sprint cars on the two-night racing program will be the USAC National Midgets. Doug Allen Photos of Tommy Dunkel (#17A) and Brody Roa (#17R) are attached to this email. Last year before a near-capacity crowd at the Turkey Night Grand Prix, Dunkel and Roa were both in competition. However, they were not teammates on the night. Dunkel was driving his own car and Roa was driving for Central California car owner Jayson May. A year ago this weekend, Dunkel impressed the fans with an exciting display passing more experienced drivers. Starting 11th in the B main, he had to get to sixth. He did just that and earned his ticket into the finale of the sprint car portion of the TNGP. Starting on the back row in 23rd for the A main, Dunkel had to test his reflexes on several occasions in the main event in a race that sometimes looked like a free-for-all. Within the first three laps, he had moved up six spots to 17th. On the 19th lap, he was up to 15th and still moving forward. His drive included deftly avoiding a flipping car as he advanced through the field. With nine laps to go he raced into 14th. He stayed there until the last circuit when he took one more car and finished 13th. All told he passed a total of 15 cars on the night. Only two other drivers passed more. This season, Dunkel competed at Ventura more than any other racetrack. Coming into this weekend, the friendly driver has been at the racing facility six times. He finished in the top 10 four of the six. Highlighting his journeys to the track located adjacent to the beach on the Ventura County Fairgrounds was a main event victory on April 8th. He also notched second-place finishes on July 8th and September 2nd. For 2023 USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series champion Roa, it will be his first appearance at Ventura since the 81st edition of the prestigious race one year ago. On the opening night, the Garden Grove, California racer placed second in his heat and won his qualifier. He was running fourth in the dash and looked like a shoo-in for a top-four start before getting caught up in someone else's mess. Fortunately, his car was able to restart and he came from the back to finish sixth. Starting on the outside of row three in the Saturday night Finale, Roa quickly moved into fifth and was challenging for the fourth place position. However, his car was noticeably slowing. Even though his steed continued to decelerate, Roa was still in seventh late in the going. Unfortunately, an overzealous driver clobbered him from behind and knocked him out of the race with two laps remaining. Officially, he finished 17th. Earlier in 2022, Roa contested a USAC/CRA race at Ventura. On a one-lane, at the bottom track, Roa finished with a frustrating runner-up finish. While he was clearly faster than the leader, he did not want to risk getting freight-trained if he tried to drive around the outside Unlike some drivers, he raced clean and did not knock the leader out of the way. Instead, he clung to the leader's push bar and crossed the line in second. Spectator gates will open at 3:00 p.m. each night with racing at 5:00. Advance tickets are available and advised at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/82nd-annual-turkey-night-grand-prix-tickets-629591554287?aff=oddtdtcreator. - BRODY ROA CLOSED HIS 2023 USAC/CRA CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON WITH A SECOND-PLACE FINISH AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY
(Cypress, CA, November 18, 2023) Brody Roa finished off his spectacular 2023 USAC/CRA Championship season with a second-place finish in the series finale at Perris Auto Speedway. The result gave him 14 top-five finishes in the 18 races on the schedule. Included among those top five were eight wins. The victories brought his lifetime total to 21 and propelled him to fourth all-time in the 24-season history of USAC/CRA. Roa, 32, entered the 2023 finale with the championship already wrapped up, but it did not hold back his effort. Competing against a stout 29-car field, he pushed the pristine white Inland Rigging #17R to the seventh-fastest qualifying time with a lap of 16.632. That placed him in the fifth starting spot in the third 10-lap heat race. The Garden Grove, California driver steered his way to an impressive second-place finish in the heat. Roa started on the pole for the final 30-lapper of the year at the legendary 27-year-old half-mile clay oval. From there he led the first 17 laps in the Tommy and Christy Dunkel-owned car before slipping back to second. He stayed there through the final USAC/CRA checkered flag of the 2023 season. Roa's eight wins in 18 USAC/CRA races and 14 top-five finishes are extremely impressive. Just as remarkable is the fact that he finished on the lead lap in 16 of the 18 races. In one of the races he did not, he was on his way to a certain victory when he was knocked out by a lapped car. "I never thought about it," Roa responded when he was asked about finishing on the lead lap all but two times. "Just getting lapped is something I am not really proud of. I guess thinking about it, that is pretty cool. I have never thought about it before." Throughout the season, Roa and the entire team were cool, calm, and relaxed. The season was stress free and that contributed a lot to the success. There was little worry throughout the year. "Not, not really," he answered if there was any time he was worried about the way things had gone. "The points deal, I was comfortable with it all year. The way we were running and the decisions (on the car) we were making were really good. There was no point in the year when we were really struggling that I thought we were not good enough to stay out there (in the point lead). I never got worried about it until the end when I was worried about finishing it. Honestly, I paid more attention to the heat race points than the year-end points." Another deal for Roa this year was the fact that for the first time, he was driving for someone else. Inland Rigging's Tom and Christy Dunkel provided him with everything he needed to win a championship. In addition to cars, they also added support away from the track and a great friendship. "It was smooth," he said about driving for the Dunkel's. "The 410 stuff really kind of operated the same. Tommy and I worked together really good on what we needed throughout the year. Having the 410 car at my house was nice. I could do what it needed maintenance-wise and make sure it was good to go. Tom was always there for support with what we needed. It was a really smooth transition. It almost seemed the same. Just with a different car and a different look." "Tom, Christy, and Inland Rigging have supported me for a few years now. It was not like somebody brand new came in and we had to learn to work together and learn to communicate. I think that really helped with the immediate success. We already had a relationship coming into the deal. This year it was just at a much higher level." With the busy season almost done, Roa will have some extra time on his hands. "I don't know," the friendly driver laughed when asked what he was going to do with the time off after Saturday's Turkey Night Grand Prix. "Christmas is a pretty serious thing around this household. We will do that. The week before Turkey Night we are going to go out to the river and do Thanksgiving out there. We will pretty much go straight from there to Ventura on Friday. Through the off season we will just spend some time with the family and find some cool stuff to do. Hang around home and make some plans for next year, too." One of the cool things he will do is go to the USAC Champions banquet in Indiana. It will be his second time there. The first came after he won the USAC West Coast Series Championship in 2016. Then there is this little indoor race in Tulsa in January. He has raced in the Chili Bowl before, but as of right now, he does not have a ride. "No plans for the Chili Bowl right now," Roa said. "I would love to. If anything I would love to go to the Chili Bowl. No plans to drive right now." "Yeah, oh yeah," he responded when asked if he would drive if someone called and offered him a Chili Bowl ride. "Definitely." Roa was not the only one flying the Inland Rigging banner at the Perris finale. Tommy Dunkel made his 410 debut in the USAC/CRA Series. While he has raced in the series with a 360 engine before, it was his first time racing a 410 and he gave a good account of himself. In his first voyage in a 410 sprint car, which is about as equal as riding a Brahma Bull in the PBR, he qualified 23rd of the 29 cars on hand. He placed seventh in his heat and eighth in the B main. That B main finish only left him two spots shy of making the 30-lap finale. In addition to Roa and Dunkel, the team brought a third car for Eddie Tafoya Jr. to race in The PAS Senior Sprint Cars. Racing for the first time in over half a decade, the past Pittsburgh Pirates draft choice won the Senior main event. The team wants to thank the following sponsors for making the 2023 season possible. Inland Rigging, Dunkel Farms, United Asset Sales, Osborne Speed & Machine, "Biker" Bruce Fischer, ALR Virtual Services, Burris Racing, Caltrol, Jambo Barbeque Pits, Competition Suspension, K-1 Race Gear, Molecule, Rod End Supply, Driven Racing Oil, Baldwin Filters, and NGK Spark Plugs. - ONE TAFOYA OUT - ONE TAFOYA IN - SATURDAY AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY
(Chino, CA, November 10, 2023) Sprint Car racing is a very unpredictable sport. Most people attribute that to the ever-changing dirt track surfaces. That unpredictability is predictable. However, something that is unpredictable is going to happen at Perris Auto Speedway on Saturday night. Rising young star Eddie Tafoya Jr. lost two engines last weekend at the Western World Championships at Arizona's Cocopah Speedway. Thus, he is out for Saturday's 2023 finale at Perris. However, his father, Eddie Tafoya Sr. is back in a car after quite some time out of the cockpit. This scenario all came about when Tommy and Christy Dunkel, the 2023 USAC/CRA car owner champions, offered Tafoya Sr. the ride in their 360 car to race with the Senior Sprints this Saturday. Seven years ago, Tafoya Sr., a past draft pick of baseball's Pittsburgh Pirates, won The PAS Senior Sprint Car Series championship. He has also started a handful of USAC/CRA main events. With experience at the track not only in sprint cars but also off road cars, Tafoya Sr. jumped at the opportunity. Tafoya Sr. actually gave up his ride to Eddie Jr. in 2019. One year earlier, Eddie Jr. won The PAS Young Guns championship. One night when the family patriarch was late for a race, Eddie Jr. jumped in and hot lapped the car. He did so well that his dad left him in the car and began watching from the sidelines. The move paid dividends as the youngster, who won the USAC/CRA and USAC Southwest Rookie of the Year awards in 2019, has turned into one of sprint car racing's fastest rising stars. Last week at Cocopah for the Western World, Eddie Jr, qualified ninth fastest of the 33 cars on hand. However, issues started when he began fourth in the first heat race and almost immediately slid back into the pack. The B main was different. Eddie Jr. started third and stayed there for the first 2/3 of the race. At that point, he went from third to the rear and pulled off a couple of laps later. Two races and two engines down, his 410 season had come to an end. While Eddie Jr. will be out of this week's race, he will be back in action at the 82nd running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix on Thanksgiving weekend. The prestigious race will take place on the same Ventura Raceway where he earned his first Woodland Auto Display USAC/CRA Fast Time award a year and a half ago. All active military members with proper ID will get into Saturday night's race at Perris for just $5.00. In addition, they will receive one free pass for an accompanying guest. Adult tickets for Saturday's race are $30.00. Seniors 65 and over get in for $25.00. For kids 6-12 it is only $5.00 and children 5 and under are free. The fairgrounds charge $10.00 for parking. Perris Auto Speedway is located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds at 18700 Lake Perris Drive in the City of Perris. - BRODY ROA HEADS TO PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY ON SATURDAY AS THE 2023 USAC/CRA CHAMPION
(Cypress, CA, November 8, 2023) When Brody Roa arrives at Perris Auto Speedway with his Inland Rigging #17R sprint car this Saturday night, it will be the third time he has been there as a USAC champion. However, it will be the first time he gets to Southern California's premiere racetrack as the USAC/CRA champ. The Garden Grove, California racer sewed up the title in last week's Western World Championship at the Cocopah Speedway. Roa has had a dominating season in the West Coast series. He won the first two races at Cocopah in January and has led the championship point standings the entire season. Along the way, he won eight of the first 16 series races. The USAC/CRA season culminates at Perris on Saturday. It will be the 17th race on the 2023 schedule and Roa is seeking another victory to send his batting average above .500 in the series. "We ran good all year long," the 2024 USAC/CRA Series champion said. "In all honesty, I felt at the last few races we were not on the same level. Especially at Cocopah. We kind of did what we needed to do to keep the championship from coming down to Perris. We did not want to get to the last race worrying about points and worrying about what we had to do." "We are going to try to end the year the way we started it. We are going to show up like we did all year, with the best car we can, prep it as best we can, and make the best decisions we can. Now that we have the war won, we want to end up on top at the last race." Things had been going smoothly all season for Roa in the USAC/CRA Series. In addition to his eight wins (he scored a ninth win at an open comp race at Imperial Valley three weeks ago), he had three second-place finishes and a fifth in the first 14 races of the year. He only placed out of the top five twice. One of those was a sixth at Mohave Valley four weeks ago. The only USAC/CRA race he did not finish on the lead lap this year came at the Salute to Indy at Perris in May when he got clobbered by a lapped car late in the race while he leading. Things looked good for Roa heading into the two nights of action last week at Cocopah. After all, he posted a pair of wins there to kick off the year in January. However, things just did not go as well as planned. The weekend started good when he recorded the third fastest qualifying time and then placed third in his heat on Friday. It was going well in the main before disaster struck when his right rear tire went down eight laps from the finish. "We were up to fifth and I was still driving extremely conservative," the wily veteran said. "I was ticked off when I popped that tire. I knew from the drop of the green that I had to save that thing (right rear tire) to the end. I got to fifth, and it popped with eight to go. I was a little upset. I was wondering how the other drivers are saving tires. I am driving it in as straight as possible with no wheel spin and just trying to get around the track." "The tire actually delaminated. It actually started shaking eight or 10 laps before it blew. I just thought it was the rubber chattering the tire like it does. But when we got back into the pits and looked at it, there were three blocks on the inside and three blocks on the outside. The center was just torn off. That was a bummer because we were having kind of a decent run on a not-so-great track." Twenty-four hours later the team was hoping for better results but it was just one of those weekends. "Second night was a little challenging," Roa lamented. "We pulled a really late pill and did not qualify that good. I guess I was a little too aggressive with the line I was trying to qualify on. That kind of set us back and we started really deep. I picked off six cars right off the bat and got to 12th but by the time I got there, I could not even see the next car." "It was pretty treacherous on the top where I was running. I think about half the cars were on the top and half were on the bottom. I like running on the top rather than putting around on the bottom. With the big curb and as close to the wall as it was, I probably babied it around the cushion more than I should have." Roa's first two USAC sprint car championships came in 2016 and 2019. In 2016 he won the USAC West Coast Sprint Car title. Three years later in 2019, he earned the crown in the now-defunct USAC Southwest Series. This year's CRA title exceeds both of those in his eyes. "I think obviously at the top," Roa confirmed when asked if this year was the biggest of the three championships. "We have tried for this one for a long time and it is cool to finely get it done. I do not think it has set in yet. It is definitely cool and exciting to get it after trying for so long." Roa was to be joined at Cocopah by his teammate and car owner Tommy Dunkel who was going to wheel his #17A sprint car in the ASCS 360 portion of the show. However, an axle problem on his trailer forced Dunkel to abort his trip to the Southwestern Arizona track. This Saturday, Dunkel will be racing with Roa in the USAC/CRA show at Perris. It will be his first time racing a powerful 410 sprint car. "I am stoked for Tommy to make his 410 debut," Roa affirmed. "He gave us so much to get this championship this year. I am glad we could get it done a race early so we can get him in the second car on Saturday. It is super cool for him to give a 410 a shot. I think he is in for quite a surprise. They are totally different animals. He will be good and hopefully have a good time doing it." After Saturday's race, the Inland Rigging drivers will be off before participating in the 82nd Annual Turkey Night Grand Prix at the Ventura Raceway on Thanksgiving weekend. - EDDIE TAFOYA'S LONG SEASON WINDING DOWN IN ARIZONA AND CALIFORNIA
(Chino, CA, November 2, 2023) A long season that began in February in Florida will begin to wind down for Eddie Tafoya Jr. when he contests this weekend's annual Western World Championships at the Cocopah Speedway. After Saturday, he will head to Perris Auto Speedway for the USAC/CRA Series finale on November 11th and the sprint car portion of the 82nd Annual Turkey Night Grand Prix at the Ventura Raceway on Thanksgiving weekend. Tafoya's 2023 barnstorming tour saw him spend the majority of his time competing in the USAC National Sprint Car Series. He raced in eight different states and battled the rain in five of them. Since the Chino Hills, California racer returned to his home base in early September, he has made two appearances with the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars. A challenger for the win in both, fate intervened each time and robbed him of having a chance to score victories. Tafoya headed back to the friendly confines of So Cal after a race in Arkansas on September 9th. Two weeks later he made the short 30-minute trek from his home to Perris Auto Speedway. On his first night back he earned the second Woodland Auto Display Fast Qualifier award of his career with a lap of 16.831 on the famous half-mile clay oval. The well-spoken driver followed that up with a fourth-place finish in his heat race. In the main, he was up to second place and closing on the leader when a flat tire knocked him out of the race. On October 14th, Tafoya and the crew headed west for his second 2023 appearance at the Meyer's family Mohave Valley Raceway. He qualified 10th fastest on the banked 1/3 mile track, won his heat, and was once again headed to the front after starting 10th in the 30-lapper. Clearly one of the fastest cars on the track, he was battling for second when his engine laid down and knocked him from the competition with a frustrating 13th-place finish. This weekend will mark Tafoya's first appearance on the fast Somerton, Arizona oval since last season's Western World Championships. In 2022, he made five appearances at the track beginning with the first three USAC/CRA races of the season. After placing seventh and ninth on the first two nights, he scored his series-best finish with a hard-fought second on night three. At last season's Western World, the affable racer made the main event each night placing 19th and 16th. Two seasons ago when he contested the Wester Worlds at the now defunct Arizona Speedway, he had 12th and 21st place finishes. For fans who want to see this Friday and Saturday's Western World Championships in person, gates at the Cocopah Speedway will open at 4:00 p.m. with racing at 6:00. Reserved seats are $35.00 and general admission is $25.00. Students 13-17 are $15.00. Kids 12 and under get in for free. The track is located at 3450 W County 15th Streets in Somerton, Arizona (85360). The track website is racecocopahspeedway.com and the office phone number is (602) 292-7607. - INLAND RIGGING DRIVERS ROA AND DUNKEL OFFER DOUBLE TROUBLE FOR WESTERN WORLD COMPETITORS
(Cypress, CA, November 2, 2023) Much to the chagrin of the competition, the Inland Rigging Racing Team is sending three cars to this weekend's Western World Championships at Arizona's Cocopah Speedway. Two 410 sprint cars will be at the disposal of USAC/CRA point leader Brody Roa. In addition to the 410s, the team is bringing a 360 for Roa's teammate Tommy Dunkel to contest the ASCS portion of the show. Both of the drivers will be competing each night on the lightning-quick Arizona oval. Roa, who is in the midst of a dream season where he has won more than 50% (winning 8 of the first 15 races) of the USAC/CRA races, comes into the weekend with a commanding 127-point lead with only three races remaining in the 2023 campaign. After this weekend's programs, the series will wrap up next Saturday, November 11th, at Perris Auto Speedway. A good performance at Cocopah will literally wrap up Roa's second 410 sprint car championship. In 2019 he finished on top of the heap in the now defunct USAC Southwest Series standings. That was an 18-race series that saw all but five of the races staged in the "Grand Canyon State." For the second year in a row, Cocopah Speedway was the launch pad for the USAC/CRA Sprint Car season. On the last weekend in January, the stars of the series descended on the Southwest Arizona track. In his first two appearances driving for Tommy and Christy Dunkel's Inland Rigging team, Garden Grove, California star Roa won both main events. That catapulted him into a lead that he has not relinquished for the past nine months. Before the main event at this year's Cocopah season opener, Roa qualified third fastest and placed fourth in his heat before capturing the main event. Twenty-four hours later, he was the eighth fastest qualifier and won his heat race before dramatically taking the lead on the next to last lap for his second win of the weekend. Roa made five starts at Cocopah in 2022. The first three came in January when he placed fourth, fifth, and sixth in three nights of racing. On his second trip to the track near Yuma for the 2022 Western World, things did not go as well as planned for the "Pride of Garden Grove" when he placed 15th in each main event. For Dunkel, who has excelled in his first full sprint car season, it will be his first time racing at Cocopah and his initial outing with the American Sprint Car Series. The friendly driver has contested a majority of his races this season in a 360. His three best outings came at the Ventura Raceway where he won the main event on April 8th. He then posted second-place finishes on the same beachside oval on July 8th and August 2nd. When the series heads back to Cocopah in 2024, Dunkel will be in a 410 and running for the USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year award. Thus far in 2023, the Menifee, California businessman has started three USAC/CRA races. He finished 14th and 11th in the first two. His best finish was an eighth at Perris Auto Speedway on July 15th. He can start one more main event in the series this season and still be eligible for next year's Rookie of the Year award. That will probably happen next week at the series finale at Perris Auto Speedway. If you would like to see the Inland Rigging drivers and their immaculate sprint cars in action at this Friday and Saturday's Western World Championships in person, gates at the Cocopah Speedway will open at 4:00 p.m. with racing at 6:00. Reserved seats are $35.00 and general admission is $25.00. Students 13-17 are $15.00. Kids 12 and under get in for free. For those who cannot make it to the Arizona speed plant, the race will be shown live on Speed Sport TV. Ordering or more information is available at https://speedsport.tv/videos/30446. After next week's race at Perris, the Inland Rigging drivers will conclude their 2023 season in the sprint car portion of the 82nd Annual Turkey Night Grand Prix at Jim Naylor's Ventura Raceway on November 24th and 25th. The team wants to thank the following sponsors for making the 2023 season possible. - BRODY ROA DRIVES NEW CAR TO IMPERIAL VALLEY VICTORY FOR HIS NINTH WIN OF 2023
(Cypress, CA, October 26, 2023) In the continuing saga of what has been the best season in his career, Brody Roa drove a brand new Shaver-powered DRC to a convincing win last Saturday night in the 20-lap Southern California Open Competition Non-Wing Sprint Car main event at the Imperial Valley Raceway. Unfortunately, his Inland Rigging teammate Tommy Dunkel got tangled up with a car doing a 360 in his heat. The result was a flip that brought a premature end to Dunkel's night. The two-night affair at Imperial kicked off on Friday night, October 20th with practice and a special $1,000.00 Dash For Cash. The dash matched the fastest six cars from practice who drew for their starting positions. Roa had the quickest time on Friday. Things looked promising until he pulled a six for the invert in the brief six-car dash. That meant he would start last in the field. The USAC/CRA point leader passed three cars and was running down the first and second-place drivers before the laps ran out and he ended up placing third. The meat of the program was on Saturday night which saw qualifying, heats, and a $4,000.00 to win 20-lap main event. Sixteen cars showed for the final night and Roa, who lives in Garden Grove, California, qualified second quickest. Dunkel, who is completing his first full season of sprint car racing, ended up being the seventh fastest qualifier of the night. After his impressive qualifying time, Dunkel was the first of the Inland Rigging drivers to take to the track for heat race action. The Murrieta, California-based racer started in the fourth position. Things looked good until a car spun in turn three. Dunkel was passing a car that made a sudden movement to avoid the spinner. Being directly behind the car he was trying to pass, Dunkel did not see the spinner, which by that time had stopped. He had no time to react and slammed into the stopped car and flipped. The crash caused heavy damage and ended Dunkel's night. "I felt really good in the car on Saturday and had a lot of speed," the friendly Dunkel said. "I started outside row two in my heat race and unfortunately all weekend, it (the track) was locked down on the bottom. Little or no top, it was just around the tractor tires. Going down the back straight on lap one, we (all the guys who started on the outside) just went straight to the back. I passed a few cars but then missed my mark and damn near slid off the track. Everybody got back by me. Unfortunately, a guy ahead of me spun out. Instead of locking it down and playing it safe for everybody, he tried to keep the car lit and did some brodies down the track. The car ahead of me, who I was trying to pass, missed him. I just had nowhere to go. I ended up hitting him like a freight train and it ended up sending me for a flip. The flip was not too bad but the hit was massive. It destroyed everything from the motor plate back." While Dunkel had no luck, everything went Roa's way on the night. He started on the pole for his heat race and got the lead going into the first corner. That was all she wrote for the competition. On a weekend when it was hard to pass, he just motored away. Roa started in the third spot in the 20-lap finale. Taking the track conditions into consideration, he drove a perfect race for his ninth triumph of the year. "The inside was a big plus for the track conditions," Roa said. "Got up to second in one and two on the start. Had a restart a few laps later and took the lead. Got in front and managed the tires as it was laying rubber down. I just made sure I did not slip up off the bottom. "It is pretty incredible to have nine wins in 19 starts," Roa stated on his first year driving for Tommy and Christy Dunkel. "One DNF, nine wins, and a bunch of second-place finishes. It has been pretty incredible." In addition to Dunkel and Roa, there was a third Inland Rigging car in the pit area on Saturday. Subbing for his son Blake who was nursing an injury, two-time Perris Auto Speedway Modified champion Randy Thornell was contesting the IMCA Modified portion of the program. The longtime veteran ended up with a fourth-place finish in his heat and fifth in the main. The Inland Rigging team will be taking this weekend off at the track, but they will be hard at it preparing for next week's Western World Championship at Arizona's Cocopah Speedway. The following week they will be at Perris Auto Speedway for the final USAC/CRA race of the 2023 campaign. Fans can pick up a 2023 Inland Rigging Racing Team shirt from the crew after the races or online brodyroa.com. - EDDIE TAFOYA IS FAST AGAIN BUT BAD LUCK TAKES AWAY A POTENTIAL WIN
(Chino, CA, October 21, 2023) The first two races Eddie Tafoya Jr. contested on his return to California have shown that the veteran driver has been more than fast enough to win the mains. However, Lady Luck has not been on his side and each time she knocked him from the fray before the race was over. Tafoya's latest western racing excursion took place about three and a half hours away from his Chino Hills, California home at the Mojave Valley Raceway. Last year the friendly driver made two trips to the Arizona speed plant that is located minutes from the Colorado River. His first venture to the track produced a third-place finish in March of 2022. Five and a half months later, he recorded another top-10 finish when he crossed under the checkered flags in eighth place. Earlier this year, he qualified third fastest in the 30-car field, won his heat race, and started fifth in the 30-lap main on the 1/3 mile clay oval. He was running in the top five before stopping and having to restart at the back. In the remaining 25-laps, he passed more cars than any other driver and finished 12th. His latest sojourn to the Arizona track had the same feel to it until the main event. "It was good until it wasn't," Tafoya lamented on last week's Dirt Tracks and Rib Racks podcast. "It went kind of like at Perris the race before. We qualified all right, in 10th. Had to start third in our heat and we won it. It definitely felt good for whatever reason. I just kind of jell with that track. The size and shape kind of suits my style." From early on in the latest Mohave main, Tafoya was on his game. He steered the handsome #51T forward toward the front and was a major factor in the race. In fact, he seemed to be the fastest car on the track early on. "In the main event I got to second, technically," Tafoya explained on the Indiana-based podcast. "By lap 10 we had three cautions and restarts. I had to pass Yeley three times (he passed him three times for second but each time a yellow came out within a lap and they went back to the last completed lap). I was third after a red and my motor started lying down. It eventually got pretty bad so I popped the thing out of gear and pulled into the pits." Unfortunately, his early departure turned a potential main-event victory into a 13th-place finish. Next up for Tafoya will be the annual Western World Championships at Arizona's Cocopah Speedway. Following that race he will contest the USAC/CRA season closer on November 11th at the Perris Auto Speedway. - INLAND RIGGING DRIVERS BRODY ROA AND TOM DUNKEL RACE SO CAL NON-WING SHOW AT IMPERIAL THIS WEEKEND
(Cypress, CA, October 20, 2023) For the first time in over three months, sprint car competitors in California will face double trouble tonight and Saturday when both Inland Rigging drivers, Brody Roa and Tommy Dunkel, will be in action at the Imperial Valley Raceway. Friday's program will include a $1000.00 to win fast car dash. On Saturday, the drivers will be vying for the $4000.00 first-place prize in the main event. Saturday will be the first time the Inland Rigging duo has competed together since July 15th at Perris Auto Speedway. On that night, their gleaming white cars placed first and eighth in the 30-lap main event. Roa scored that win which was his third in a row. For Dunkel, who plans on contesting for the 2024 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year award, the eighth-place finish was his best in the series to date. This weekend's races will be the first at Imperial for the Inland Rigging boys since an appearance on March 11th. Issues that night knocked both of them out of the race early with Dunkel placing 16th and teammate Roa one position behind. Roa was in action last Saturday night when the USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series made its final 2023 appearance at the Mohave Valley Raceway. The season-long leader in the series championship standings entered the fray with a 142-point lead over his closest pursuer. He pushed his #17R to the second-fastest time in qualifying with a lap of 14.480. Known as the "Pride of Garden Grove," Roa started sixth and finished fifth in a hard fought heat race. That meant he had to go to the 15-car, 12-lap B main event and finish in the top 10 to transfer to the A. That proved to be no problem for the friendly driver as he posted the victory. That meant he would start eighth in the 30-lapper. Had he not finished in the top 10 in the B, he could have used a provisional and would have started 23rd. Roa got off to a good start in the main and moved up a couple of spots on lap two. However, in a main that was plagued by chaos, he had to go wide in turn four and got up over the top of the track. Fortunately, that track has a wide run-off area on the top. Roa was able to recover without slamming into a wall but he did lose three spots due to the off-road sojourn over the top. Simultaneously, a couple of other cars tangled bringing out a yellow flag. Once the race went green again, Roa got his elbows up. While attempting to move into fifth, contact with the driver he was trying to pass saw them both slide to a stop in turn three. The track crew quickly got Roa's #17R to the work area where crew chief Zac Bozanich and the boys quickly changed a flat left rear tire and sent him back into the battle. As per the rules, the veteran driver had to restart at the back of the pack. The good part of that story is the race still had 20 laps to go. The bad part of the story was chaos was prevalent in the early portion of the race. Roa was going to have to be on his A-game to avoid several of the combatants if he wanted to move forward. A red flew soon after the race restarted due to more bedlam. That gave Roa and the other drivers a chance to catch their breath and allowed the crews to make adjustments to the cars. As would be predictable, Bozanich and the team worked some magic for Roa who was restarting ninth. The race finally put some consecutive laps together after the restart and wily veteran Roa cleverly drove his way forward. In fact, he was all the way back to fourth, but late in the race on the slick track, he slipped off the top in turn three and lost three spots. Roa got back and moved up to sixth and that is where he was at when the race ended. Amazingly, the finish was only the second time in 15 USAC/CRA series races this season that Roa finished out of the top five and only the third time he has finished out of the top two. Between last Saturday's race and tonight's opener at Imperial, the team put the finishing touches on a brand new, gorgeous #17R that Roa is debuting this weekend. In addition to racing at Imperial Valley, Inland Rigging is presenting the first 100 children through the gates with a free Halloween trick-or-treat bag on Saturday. The Imperial Valley Raceway is located on the Imperial Valley fairgrounds at 200 East 2nd Street in Imperial, California. The ticket prices for this weekend's races are a throwback to the 1970s. Adult tickets are $5.00 on Friday and $10.00 on Saturday. Everyone 16 and under will get in free each night. Fans can pick up a 2023 Inland Rigging Racing Team shirt from the crew after the races or online brodyroa.com. - TOMMY DUNKEL TO CONTEST THE GEORGE "ZIGGY" SNIDER CLASSIC SATURDAY AT KERN COUNTY RACEWAY PARK
(Cypress, CA, October 6, 2023) This Saturday night, October 7th, Inland Rigging's Tommy Dunkel will head to the George "Ziggy" Snider Classic at the beautiful Dirt Track at the Kern County Raceway Park for the USAC West Coast Sprint Cars final points race of 2023. It will be Dunkel's fourth race with the series this year and his first at KCRP. While contesting less than half of the series races (three so far) this season, Dunkel goes into Saturday 18th in points. While points have not been on his radar this year, a good run at KCRP could mathematically propel him all the way up to 13th. All three of Dunkel's 2023 USAC West Coast races in the series were at Jim Naylor's Ventura Raceway. His best finish of the three came three weeks ago when he steered the Inland Rigging #17A to an eighth-place finish. His other two races produced an 11th in May and a 19th when he was involved in a crash on June 17th. From the Chili Bowl to USAC/CRA, USAC West Coast, VRA, and open comp races at the Imperial Valley Raceway, Saturday's event will be Dunkel's 13th start of his first full-season racing open wheel cars. Highlighting the year thus far is a win and a pair second place finishes at Ventura. All told he has six top-10 finishes in 2023. Spectator gates for Saturday's race at Kern County Raceway Park will open at 4:00 p.m. and opening ceremonies will begin at 6:20. Adult tickets are $25.00. Juniors 6-12 get in for $10.00. Children 5 and under are free. The track is located at 13500 Raceway Boulevard, Interstate 5, and S Enos Lane in Bakersfield. The website is https://www.kernraceway.com/ and the office phone is (661) 835-1264. Saturday will be the prelude for a busy month for the Inland Racing Team. On April 14th Brody Roa, the USAC/CRA Sprint Car series point leader, returns to action in his #17R at Arizona's Mohave Valley Raceway. On the 20th and the 21st, both Roa and Dunkel will be slinging clay at the non-wing open competition sprint car race at the Imperial Valley Raceway. Fans can pick up a 2023 Inland Rigging Racing Team shirt from the crew after the races or online brodyroa.com. As always, Brody Roa would be more than happy to jump in a race car on his weekends off from the #17R. His entire schedule is printed below. - FLAT TIRE SPOILS EDDIE TAFOYA JR'S HOMECOMING
(Chino, CA, September 30, 2023) After spending the majority of his season on the road with the USAC National Sprint Car Series, Eddie Tafoya Jr. returned to his home track, Perris Auto Speedway, for the Glenn Howard Classic. Unfortunately, the Chino Hills, California racer's triumphant return home was spoiled by a flat tire with 10 laps to go in the race. Competing on the West Coast for the first time in seven months, the handsome 26-year-old came out firing on all cylinders before the appreciative crowd. Twenty-three other cars showed up for the race on the West Coast's premiere dirt track. Tafoya topped them all with the fastest lap in hot laps. Minutes later when it counted, he recorded the quickest qualifying time when he toured the half-mile clay oval in 16.381. That was his first-ever fast qualifying effort at Perris and his second ever in the series. His first came in 2022 at the Ventura Raceway. Being the fastest qualifier meant Tafoya had to start sixth in his heat race. Later in the night, the best he could start in the main was sixth. In order to do that, he had to finish fourth or better in the 10-lap heat. Anything worse than that and he would have to start seventh in the main event with one more fast car in front of him. The now-seasoned veteran driver did what he had to do and placed fourth in the heat. Like it proved to be in hot laps, qualifying and his heat race, the eye-catching silver #51T was fast in the 30-lap main event. Make that very fast. For the first 1/3 of the race, he was in a battle with several foes as he attempted to move forward. Finally, around lap 10, he made his move and began picking off cars and heading towards the front of the pack. "The first 10 laps I think there was seven of us all over the place," Tafoya said of the early portion of the main. "I was just kind of hanging out and seeing what the guys were doing. Then about lap 10, I started making moves and getting runs on people. I even got three of them at one time coming out of two." His charge toward the head of the pack had the fans on the edges of their seats in anticipation of a tremendous battle for the first-place check and trophy. However, bad luck intervened and it cost him from having a chance to win to finishing a frustrating 18th. "When I got to Tommy (leader and eventual race winner Tommy Malcolm), we had a restart and I kind of stayed with him for a lap or two," the confident racer continued. "Then we had another caution and I could start to hear my tire and started seeing my hood lean the other way. So I knew something was going away. I hung with him for a couple of laps even with it going down. The last restart we had it was completely flat and I could not do anything with it." The car was so good all night long that the team made very few changes. What changes they made were speculation and they proved to work. "We made some changes, but not because I was uncomfortable or anything," the 26-year-old racer said regarding the early portion of the night. "The changes we made were just trying to keep up with the track and what we thought it was going to do. I had not even touched my shocks yet by the time I got the flat. I still had a lot left and we were definitely coming forward and I think we were the car to beat." Tafoya's concentration on competing in the Midwest this year paid big dividends on his first race back at the track where he began racing sprint cars. If not for the flat, he may have picked up the "W." "It is a huge deal," Tafoya said when asked if racing with the USAC National Series had anything to do with his best Perris performance. "Usually (at Perris) I am either quick in hot laps, or qualifying, or win the heat race or something like that. But to have that speed all night long, every time we were out there, shows that the intensity I have been racing with (on the USAC National tour) is helping. Here you can wait around a little bit and see what people are doing. Back there if you wait around for half a lap you will get passed by three cars. You definitely need to be on your toes and keep trying to go forward." Great news for fans and bad news for the competition is the fact that Tafoya will finish out his season at the final four USAC/CRA races of 2023. First up will be a trip to Arizona's 1/3 mile-banked Mohave Valley Raceway on October 14th. That will be followed by another trip to the "Copper State" on the first weekend in November for the annual Western World Championships. He will then finish the season at Perris on November 11th. - BRODY ROA TAKES SECOND IN GLENN HOWARD CLASSIC - MOHAVE VALLEY UP NEXT ON OCTOBER 14th
(Cypress, CA, September 29, 2023) For fans attending races in the USAC/CRA series in 2023, there has only been one place to see driver Brody Roa. That is, at or near the head of the pack. The Garden Grove, California-based star was there once again when he placed second in the Glenn Howard Classic before an enthusiastic crowd at Perris Auto Speedway. 380284833_6596280897074923_8171914769262978975_n.jpg Brody Roa qualifying at Perris Auto Speedway on September 23rd. Doug Allen photo. Roa, driving the Tom and Christy Dunkel-owned Inland Rigging #17R, was one of 24 series cars to show up for the next to last sprint car race at the famous track in 2023. Amidst the best season of his career, the veteran driver entered the night with a bulging 151-point advantage in the championship standings. By the time the program ended, he drove home with a still comfortable 142-point lead with only four races remaining on the schedule. When time trials were over, the scoresheet showed Roa as the fifth fastest qualifier with a time of 16.872. Much to the chagrin of the competition, that meant that if the "Pride of Garden Grove" placed in the first four positions in his heat race, he would more than likely be on the front row for the main event. With the way his season has gone so far, that seemed like a "slam dunk." However, things do not always go as planned or expected. Roa confidently entered the 10-lap heat race in the fifth position on the inside of row three. He quickly raced into the top four and his starting position on the front row seemed assured. But the odds suddenly tilted against him when he bicycled his pristine white car in turn two. It looked like the car was going to go over, but Roa saved it from flipping. Unfortunately, a yellow flag due to the aeronautics meant that he would have to restart at the back. When the heat race resumed, Roa immediately went on the attack and began passing cars. He needed to get by four of them. He got past three and was closing on the fourth one but ran out of time when the checkered flag came down. That meant instead of starting on the front row of the main, he had to begin on the outside of the fourth row in eighth. Roa put the moves on when the main began and advanced forward. He fought and clawed his way all the way up to second and that is where he finished. One can only speculate on what may have been if the bicycle had not happened in the heat race. Roa is having one of the best-ever seasons in the 24-year history of USAC/CRA. In the 14 races in the series this year, the likable driver has finished first or second 12 times with eight wins and four second-place efforts. Combining those with a fifth-place finish at Perris in April, he has only placed out of the top five once. Roa's next appearance with USAC/CRA will come on October 14th when the series goes to Arizona's Mohave Valley Raceway for the third and final time of the year. The Inland Rigging drivers and cars have this weekend off. Next week Tommy Dunkel and his #17A will return to action for the final USAC West Coast Series points race of 2023 at the Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield. Details to follow in next week's release. Fans can pick up a 2023 Inland Rigging Racing Team shirt from the crew after the races or online brodyroa.com. 346796104_1206749826660886_1723353253831807847_n.jpg As always, Brody Roa would be more than happy to jump in a race car on his weekends off from the #17R. - Sammy Swindell Joins Short Track Nationals Field! Pre-Entry Count Climbs to 53
It can be difficult to peruse the Short Track Nationals history books without frequently coming across Sammy Swindell's name. The National Sprint Car Hall of Famer is ready to add more to the record books as he will take in next weekend's $20,000-to-win 36th Annual COMP Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Tires & Ark-La-Tex Lawn and Landscape at Texarkana 67 Speedway.
- EDDIE TAFOYA JR. BACK AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY THIS SATURDAY NIGHT
(Chino, CA, September 22, 2023) The 2018 Perris Auto Speedway Young Gun Sprint Car champion and 2019 USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year, Eddie Tafoya Jr., will be back on his old stomping grounds, Perris Auto Speedway, for the Glenn Howard Classic this Saturday night. It will be his first race back in So Cal since April. He will be staying on the home front to finish out the last five races in the USAC/CRA Series. Last offseason Tafoya, who lives in Chino Hills, California, announced his intention to spend much of the season competing in the toughest traditional sprint car series in the world, the USAC National Sprint Cars. That is just what he did. Following his original plans, he started the year in Florida and contested 20 races with the national group. Six other races were rained out and he ran two open shows. In addition, he contested three USAC/CRA races earlier in the year. Hitting so many new tracks, Tafoya was on what seemed like foreign soil. Yet, for the most part, he did not ask a lot of questions. "I mean, I don't really ask too many questions too often," Tafoya said. "I try to listen to people. I don't really go out of my way to ask questions. We just try to figure it out. I think that is a good way for me to learn. Just trying things. I have to figure out how to do these things and not have someone helping me all of the time and spoon-feeding me. It feels good when you get in the main and you know that you and your guys did it all by yourselves." Tafoya did not cherry-pick the easy races with the National Series for his 2023 schedule. In fact, it was quite the opposite. He opted in for races at Tony Stewart's Eldora Speedway, Iowa's Knoxville Raceway, the grueling Indiana Sprint Week, and Kokomo's Smackdown. Those tracks accounted for 14 of his 20 starts back there. They are some of the fastest, most competitive tracks in the country and they draw the toughest drivers. That level of competition can be very tough in more ways than one. Bent parts and broken pieces are one of the hazards of the game. However, the smooth-driving Tafoya managed to steer clear of the mayhem. That is a huge benefit to any racing program and a team's finances, too. "Knock on wood, so far, we have hurt one radius rod and one drag link, that was it," Tafoya said. "That was on the same night during Sprint Week. We have been pretty fortunate to keep our wheels clean this year. Last year or the year before we picked up a lot of speed and had some big crashes and wrecked our stuff. That kind of set us back for a couple months trying to figure things out and get the ball rolling again. When you can show up every night and keep driving it (without damage), it definitely benefits you in the long run." "I feel pretty good," Tafoya answered when asked if he was happy with the way things went on the national tour. "The nights I was good, I had bad luck or adversity. You know, I pulled a bad pill or we barely missed transfers. At Texarkana, I qualified 17th. Three-tenths would have put me in eighth place I think it was. Things like that. When you are competing at that level, things just kind of have to fall in place." In addition to the tracks Tafoya had competed on in the past, he was on some new ones this year. He thinks going to tracks he had never been to before helps. "I would say it helps with experience," he explained. "You see a lot of different stuff. When you come back to places you do know and there is something different, you can lean on your notebook and your memory bank. Maybe you have seen something like that before and can adjust for it." Tafoya closed out the USAC National Series portion of his season with races at the Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, and Texarkana 67 Raceway in Arkansas two weeks ago. He qualified for both main events through the heat races. At Devil's Bowl, he placed second in his heat. He started 22nd in the main on the big, fast track and drove forward to 18th. The first Texarkana race was rained out, but in the finale, he finished fourth in his heat and 20th in the main. For fans who want to see Tafoya and the other USAC/CRA stars in action on Saturday, the spectator gates will open at 5:00 p.m. with racing at 7:00. Adult tickets are $30.00. For fans 65 years of age and older, it is $25.00. For kids six to 12 it is just $5.00 and children five and under are admitted free. The fairgrounds charge $10.00 for parking. Advance tickets are available until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night. They can be purchased online at tix.com or by calling 1-800-595-4849. For fans who do not wish to buy advance tickets, there will be plenty of tickets for everyone at the ticket window on Saturday. Perris Auto Speedway is conveniently located on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds (home of the Southern California Fair), one hour east of Los Angeles and one hour North of San Diego. To get to the track, take the 215 freeway, exit on the Ramona Expressway, and go three miles east to the fairgrounds. - BRODY ROA SEEKS FOURTH STRAIGHT USAC/CRA WIN SATURDAY AT PERRIS - TOMMY DUNKEL FINISHES 8TH AT VENTURA
(Cypress, CA, September 22, 2023) Garden Grove, California's Brody Roa will be shooting for his ninth win in 14 starts and his fourth in a row when the USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series visits Perris Auto Speedway for Saturday's annual Glenn Howard Classic. The race comes one week after Roa's car owner and teammate Tommy Dunkel finished eighth in last Saturday's USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series race at Jim Naylor's Ventura Raceway. Roa's dream season carries on two weeks after his impressive runs in the USAC National Sprint Car Series in Texas and Arkansas. At the Thursday night show at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, he started 14th in the main event and finished sixth. Two nights later at the Texarkana 67 Speedway in Arkansas, he was the sixth-fastest qualifier in the 31-car field and placed 14th in the main event. Roa, who became a dad for the second time when daughter Rylee was born two months ago, carries a bulging 840 point lead in the championship standings going into tomorrow night's race on the Riverside County half-mile clay oval. The winner of eight of the season's first 13 races in the Inland Rigging #17R, Roa started his 2023 domination of the series when he swept both ends of the season-opening weekend at the Cocopah Speedway at the end of January. Since then he has only gone two races without a win twice this season. Of the four other drivers who have won USAC/CRA races this year, only one has been victorious more than one time. Saturday's race will be the sixth of the year for USAC/CRA at The PAS. In the previous four, Roa has two wins, a second place, a fifth, and a 15th. The 15th came at the Salute to Indy in May. Roa was leading that one late in the going when he was clobbered by another driver and knocked out of the race. Murrieta, California's Dunkel returned to action at last week's USAC West Coast Series race at Ventura. Twenty-one cars showed up for the event and Dunkel, in his super clean #17A, qualified 11th fastest with a time of 12.631. Soon after, the friendly driver placed fourth in his 10 lap heat. In the main event, he started outside the sixth row in 12th in the 20-car field. As usual, he moved forward and finished eighth. Despite the fact that he has only started three of the West Coast races this season, Dunkel is up to 18th in the championship point standings. It was Dunkel's third USAC West Coast race of the 2023 season and his best finish. All told between the USAC West Coast Series and the Ventura Racing Association in 2023, he has made five starts at Ventura. He has four top 10s and three top two finishes including a win in the April 8th VRA race. Dunkel initially planned on contesting Saturday's USAC/CRA event at Perris. However, he plans on competing for the USAC/CRA Rookie of the Year award in 2024. Drivers are eligible if they have qualified for four or fewer main events in the series. Presently Dunkel has been in three. So, he is sitting this weekend's race out but will return to USAC/CRA action at the Western World Championships at Arizona's Cocopah Speedway on the first weekend in November. His next start in the USAC/West Coast Series will be at Bakersfield's Kern County Raceway Park on October 7th. Fans who wish to see Roa in action this Saturday night in the Glen Howard Classic can find Perris Auto Speedway on the Lake Perris Fairgrounds at 18700 Lake Perris Drive in Perris. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM, and the first race will begin at seven. Adult tickets are $30.00. For seniors 65 and over it is $25.00. Kids 6 to 12 get in for just $5.00 and children five and under are admitted free. The fairgrounds charge $10.00 for parking. Advance tickets are available up until 7:00 PM Saturday night. Interested fans can purchase those advance tickets online at tix.com or by calling 1-800-595-4849. For those who do not wish to buy advance tickets, there will be plenty available for everyone at the ticket window on Saturday. Fans can pick up a 2023 Inland Rigging Racing Team shirt from the crew after the races or online brodyroa.com. As always, Brody Roa would be more than happy to jump in a race car on his weekends off from the #17R. His entire schedule is printed below. - Ryan Timms Wins The 2023 Hockett/McMillin Memorial At Lucas Oil Speedway!
Bryan Hulbert - WHEATLAND, Mo. (September 17, 2023) Mother Nature delayed things by a day, but it was worth the wait as Ryan Timms followed up his Thursday prelim victory with a $10,000 payday and his first championship feature event win at the Jesse Hockett/ Daniel McMillin Memorial with the American Sprint Car Series presented by RacinDirt.com. "I'm really happy I was able to get this win. This is a bucket-list race to win, and I'm glad I was able to get it done this year. I want to thank the Hockett family for everything they do for this event," stated Timms, who joined Johnny Herrera as the only other driver to win a Sunday showdown at the Hockett/McMillin Memorial. Leading all by the opening lap Saturday night, which was led by Jake Bubak, Timms shot into the lead on the second revolution. Challenged once during one of the four-race stoppages, the DriveWFX.com No. 5t rolled to the finish with a 1.667-second advantage, running multiple grooves throughout the 30-lap event. "It was rubbered up earlier on today and rubbered up for that non-wing feature, so I was really expecting it to all blow off really fast and go straight to the top and just conserve your tires. The track actually stayed together fairly well. Jason Martin fought his way to a runner-up finish, with Bubak ending up third after slipping back to fifth during the mid-point of the feature event. Mounting a huge charge and at one point looking like he was going to roll by the field, Tim Estenson railed the cushion for a ten-spot gain to finish fourth. Up from ninth with a late race charge, Hank Davis completed the top five. Battling sixth to second until Lap 23, Sean McClelland slipped back to where he started, with Blake Hahn following in seventh. Jamie Ball finished eighth, with Matt Covington rolling forward nine spots for a ninth-place finish. Miles Paulus made up the top ten. The Hockett Hard Charger this year was Jeffrey Newell. The award was worth an extra $3,077. The Non-Wing Hard Charger was Jesse Vermillion. The POWRI WAR feature was topped by California's Ricky Lewis, who did so from the 11th starting spot. Overall, the 2023 Hockett/McMillin Memorial saw 147 Sprint Cars officially hit the track between both sanctioning bodies. The night started off with AR Dyno Specialty Qualifiers, with wins going to Hank Davis, Derek Hagar, Jeremy Campbell, Wayne Johnson, and Miles Paulus. Twin BMRS B-Features were won by Howard Moore and Jordon Mallett. The next event for the American Sprint Car Series presented by RacinDirt.com will be the COMP Cams Short Track Nationals at Texarkana 67 Speedway, happening October 5, 6, and 7, paying $20,000 to win, $1,000 to start. - TOMMY DUNKEL TURNS IN ANOTHER IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCE AT THE VENTURA RACEWAY
(Cypress, CA, September 8, 2023) For a lot of people, Disneyland is their happy destination place. However, there are some who would gladly offer that the Ventura Raceway is their go-to joint. It is safe to say that Inland Rigging sprint car driver Tommy Dunkel is one of the latter. Last Saturday night at Jim Naylor's racing emporium located mere feet from the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean, Dunkel raced to another second-place finish in the VRA Sprint Car Series main event. Dunkel's prowess at Ventura, in what to date is his most ambitious season racing sprint cars, has been impressive, to say the least. In five starts on the famous 1/5 mile oval in 2023, he has one win, two second-place finishes, an 11th (that was a top-five until he got clobbered late in the race), and a 19th. The two second-place finishes have come back to back. Despite not being a regular in the series, Dunkel began last Saturday night eighth in Ventura Racing Association Sprint Car points. Likewise, he started the 30-lap main event in the eighth spot. When the green flag and lights opened the 30-lapper, Dunkel moved forward and was in sixth when a yellow flag slowed the action on lap three. By the 1/3 mark, he had slipped back to seventh, but from that point on, he pushed the immaculate, white #17A forward. Dunkel shot into third place at the halfway point. Four laps later, he raced into second. The friendly driver was stalking the leader but with about nine laps to go, an inadvertent white flag was thrown. The next lap past the line, Dunkel lifted thinking it was going to be the checkers. He jumped back on the throttle when he saw that the green lights were still on but by that point the damage was done. The leader had increased his advantage and Dunkel was forced to settle for second. While frustrated by the faux pas, he was still happy with placing second. Currently in Arkansas with his Inland Rigging teammate Brody Roa, Dunkel and the team will head back home to Southern California after Saturday's race. As soon as they get back, they will put the finishing touches on Dunkel's car for next Saturday's USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series race at Ventura. One week after that, on September 23rd, Dunkel will compete closer to home when the USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series converges at Perris Auto Speedway. In addition to Dunkel, series point leader Roa will be in action that night as well. Fans can pick up a 2023 Inland Rigging Racing Team shirt from the crew after the races or online brodyroa.com. As always, Brody Roa would be more than happy to jump in a race car on his weekends off from the #17R. His entire schedule is printed below. - EDDIE TAFOYA JR. IS RACING IN TEXAS AND ARKANSAS THIS WEEK
(Chino, CA, September 5, 2023) Eddie Tafoya Jr. headed back to the airport on Wednesday to get ready for the USAC National Sprint Car Series races this week in Texas and Arkansas. On Thursday, September 7th, he will be at the famous half-mile high-banked Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas. He will then journey to Texarkana, Arkansas for races on Friday and Saturday at the semi-banked 1/4 mile Texarkana 67 Speedway. For Tafoya, it will be his initial appearance on each of the tracks. The driver, who lives 35 miles east of Los Angeles in Chino Hills, California, was slated to make his Devils Bowl debut on April 28th and 29th. However, those races, along with one at the Rocket Raceway in Petty, Texas the night before, were all rained out. He salvaged the wet trip by high-tailing it to the I70 Motorsports Park in Odessa, Missouri to finish seventh in a POWRi War Sprint Car Series race on April 29th. From there he headed northeast to the Eldora Speedway for his initial appearance on the famous high banks during the first week in May. On the western Ohio track, he qualified for both USAC National Sprint Car mains on the Tony Stewart-owned oval placing 18th and 19th. Tafoya made a couple of sojourns to Indiana over the past couple of months. The first came in late July when he competed in the grinding Indiana Sprint Week making the A main event at the legendary Terre Haute Action Track and the Bloomington Speedway. He concluded that trip with another main event appearance in a Boss race at the Paragon Speedway. Results from all of Tafoya's 2023 racing endeavors are at the end of this release. Not long after the Indiana Sprint Week trip, Tafoya returned to the "Hoosier State" for the prestigious 12th Annual Smackdown at "Indiana's Baddest Bull Ring," the Kokomo Speedway. As has been the case with Tafoya most of the year, the three nights of racing were in the USAC National Sprint Car Series. For the pleasant driver who turned 26 years old earlier in the season, things did not go the way he wanted at Kokomo. However, he is fired up and ready to compete in the world's premiere traditional sprint car series once again this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. After the conclusion of the Smackdown, Tafoya and the crew drove the team hauler to Texas for this week's race. They left it there and hopped on a flight home to California. They flew back to Texas Wednesday morning to get the car ready for this week's action. Even though he has not raced the full USAC National Series schedule, the personable driver is still 25th in the championship standings and is only 16 points out of 23rd heading into the three races. For fans not able to make it to Texas and Arkansas for the races, all three nights will be shown live on Flo Racing. For information on how to watch or subscribe, please visit the following link https://www.floracing.com/. The Specialty Fasteners #51T team is always exploring corporate partnership opportunities. If you or your company would like to be a partner with the hard-working sprint car squad, please contact Eddie Tafoya Jr. via phone at (909) 393-3999 or by e-mail at mailto:teamtafoya@aol.com.
