- Post delivers career-best PDTR 360 Sprint Car performance
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 23, 2024 - In his third season behind the wheel of a Sprint Car, Randy Post established not one, but two career firsts in Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing and Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car competition at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, July 20. Post opened his breakout night by turning in the 12th fastest qualifying lap in the 23-car field in a time of 13.793 seconds. The Oostburg, Wis. driver then lined up on the pole of the first eight-lap PDTR-MSA heat race and went on to lead every lap on the way to his first career heat race victory in the seat of a 360 Sprint Car. The 10-car main event inversion dice roll landed Post on the pole of the 25-lap PDTR-MSA A-main. The former Street Stock competitor settled into second in the running order behind eventual race winner T.J. Smith on the opening lap of the main event. Post maintained the runner-up spot through the first 13 laps until Ben Schmidt took over second on lap 14. As the leaders worked through thick lapped traffic, Brandon Berth snuck past to move Post to third when a red flag was displayed after Ben Schmidt hit the turn three wall and flipped on lap 18. The final seven laps saw Justin Erickson, Alex Pokorski and T.J. Haddy slip past before Post came home with a career-best sixth place A-main showing. "We didn't really do a whole lot different for qualifying," Post said. "We changed our starting stagger and just went into it with a mentality to go out and see what happens. The heat win was a first in the Sprint Car. We had a few heat wins in the Street Stock in 2021. But those didn't feel nearly as good as this one did. "After watching the track evolve throughout the rest of the heat races, I knew no matter what kind of track work they did, it was going to dry out," he said. "I was hoping the track would be smooth, so we tried some new shock adjustments and a few different small adjustments to the car with a goal of finishing in the top five, while trying not to put too much pressure on getting a particular result. We just wanted to have fun and try out some new adjustments. I was very pleased with the way the race went and I was very, very pleased with the results." The Randy Post Racing Team will return to action with the Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car Series for the annual Harry Neitzel Tribute Race at the Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Friday, July 26. The Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series and IMCA Modifieds will also be in action. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with warm-ups at 6 p.m. and hot laps to follow before opening ceremonies at 7:15 p.m. Post will complete a doubleheader weekend with the Plymouth Dirt Track Racing-MSA 360 Sprint Car Series at The Plymouth Dirt Track on Saturday, July 27, which will also feature the third scheduled Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series event of the 2024 campaign at The Plymouth Dirt Track. The Sheboygan Flooring B Mods round out the card. Grandstand gates open at 4:30 p.m. with "on-track action" scheduled to commence at 5:30 p.m. Sponsorship partners and supporters of Randy Post and the 2024 Randy Post Racing Team include Luedtke Electric, Sunset Auto, Akright Auto, Oostburg Automotive and Progress Manufacturing Inc. - Pokorski nets top-five, vaults to peak of PDTR 360 Sprint Car heap
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 23, 2024 - As the 2024 racing season traverses the half-way point, the Alex Pokorski-Akright Auto Racing Team appears to be hitting its stride. In a season hindered by rainouts and curfew-infringed events, Pokorski completed the team's fourth full night of competition in 11 tries with the Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Cars by turning in a strong fourth place A-main performance at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, July 20 to move to the top step in the PDTR 360 Sprint Car points standings. The fifth-year Sprint Car driver opened the night by qualifying ninth overall in the 23-car field with a lap of 13.707 seconds around the third-mile clay oval. After the scheduled outside front row starter scratched from the race, the West Bend, Wis. driver moved up a spot to roll off from the outside front row starting position in the first eight-lap PDTR-Midwest Sprint Car Association heat race. The 2023 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing and Midwest Sprint Car Association Most Improved Driver Award winner ducked low to slip past polesitter Scott Conger and take the lead in the second turn of the opening lap. Pokorski cruised from there to post his second PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car heat race victory of the 2024 campaign. A 10-car inversion saw Pokorski start fourth in the 25-lap PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car A-main. Pokorski drove a smooth race on the smooth, dry and multi-groove racing surface while hovering between third and sixth in the running order. When the leaders hit heavy lapped traffic on lap 14, Pokorski skillfully weaved through a gaggle of slower cars to secure the fifth spot before a red flag appeared on lap 18 when Ben Schmidt collided with the turn three wall and flipped. When the race resumed, Pokorski was able to pick up one more spot as he worked his way past Randy Post to secure fourth on lap 21. The new PDTR 360 Sprint Car points leader held on over the final four laps to secure a fourth-place finish, which marked his second top-five and fifth top-10 main event showing of the 2024 PDTR-MSA season. "We had good speed all night," Pokorski said. "I needed to find the top a little sooner near the end of the feature. If I had found it a lap or two sooner, we could've finished third. It's fun to race back and forth with some of the guys. I think the competition has improved a bit this year, so it has required us to work harder to get top-five finishes. I'm looking forward to the doubleheader this weekend." The Alex Pokorski-Akright Auto Racing Team is set to compete in a doubleheader weekend with the Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car Series starting with the annual Harry Neitzel Tribute Race at the Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Friday, July 26. The team's double dip racing weekend wraps up at The Plymouth Dirt Track with the Plymouth Dirt Track Racing-MSA 360 Sprint Cars on Saturday, July 27.
