- Alex Pokorski tallies IRA 410 seat time, hones in on MSA 360 home stretch
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 20, 2024 - Alex Pokorski and the members of the Akright Auto Racing Team tacked on a few more pages to their 410 Sprint Car notebook during the team's third start of the 2024 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series season on Sunday, Aug. 18 in the annual Corn Fest event at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. The 2023 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing Most Improved Driver Award winner fired up the night by qualifying 22nd in the 27-car field after circling the historic third-mile clay oval in 13.858 seconds. After rolling off eighth in the first IRA eight-lap heat race, Pokorski placed ninth, which put him in the 12-lap B main needing to finish in the top six to earn an A-main berth. The West Bend, Wis. driver responded by advancing two spots from the eighth starting position to gain a berth in his second career 30-lap IRA 410 Sprint Car Series main event with a sixth place showing. Pokorski survived four race stoppages, including a red flag leading to an open red period, to move up six spots from his 24th starting perch and claim an 18th place A-main finish in a race won by Joe B. Miller. The result equaled Pokorski's 18th place showing in his first career IRA 410 Sprint Car Series A-main at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, May 24. "It was a fun night," Pokorski said. "I feel pretty comfortable in the 410 car. We battled with engine heat issues all night. Hopefully, we can fix that." Pokorski was scheduled to compete in a Plymouth Dirt Track Racing-Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car event on Saturday, Aug. 17, which was cancelled due to rain. The Alex Pokorski-Akright Auto Racing Team is gearing up for the final four races of the 2024 Akright Auto Midwest Sprint Car Association season starting with a PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car event on Friday, Aug. 23 at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. The 360 Sprint Cars will be joined by the Dirt Kings Late Model Tour, as well as the PDTR Grand Nationals and B Mods for the final points night of the 2024 campaign for both divisions. Grandstand gates open at 4:30 p.m. with qualifying at 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m. The event will be available to view via live stream via watchfye.tv. - Alex Pokorski paces strong Akright Auto Racing Team Plymouth Dirt Track effort
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 13, 2024 - The father-son driving tandem of Alex and Paul Pokorski and the members of the Akright Auto Racing Team turned in one of the best overall performances of the 2024 season with both drivers posting top-10 A-main showings in Plymouth Dirt Track Racing-Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car action at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 10. Alex Pokorski opened the evening by qualifying fifth overall in the 21-car PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car field after touring the third-mile clay oval in 12.680 seconds. After lining up fourth in the third eight-lap heat race, the fifth-year PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car competitor slipped past Billy Kreutz on lap five en route to a third-place showing. Following the 10-car invert, the West Bend driver started the 25-lap main event from the seventh starting spot. Alex took advantage of the smooth, wide and multi-groove racing surface to advance to fourth after sweeping past Tony Wondra on lap 10. A restart on lap 14, pushed Alex back to fifth in the running order, where he finished the race won by Ben Schmidt. It was Alex's third top-five main event finish and eighth top-10 showing in 12 MSA events contested thus far during the 2024 campaign. Alex heads into the final four events of the 2024 PDTR 360 Sprint Car campaign second in the chase for the division title, 27 points behind point leader Ben Schmidt. "It was a lot of fun and the track was very racey," Alex said. "I had a close call at the end when I hooked the cushion, which cost us a position or two. It ended up being a solid night." Paul Pokorski qualified seventh overall out of 21 PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car entries after turning in a lap of 12.743 seconds. He started the first eight-lap PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car heat race outside the front row before powering around polesitter Tony Wondra to take the lead in turn two of the opening lap. The 32-year racing veteran held off T.J. Smith in the closing laps to wrap up his second heat race victory of the 2024 season. The 2014 Midwest Sprint Car Association Masters Series champion took off from the fifth starting spot in the 25-lap PDTR-MSA A-main and held his own inside the top 10 throughout the event on the way to a 10th place showing, which marked his second top-10 A-main finish of the 2024 season in six events behind the wheel of Spyder Akright's 53A car. "I thought last night went okay," Paul said. "It seemed like the most consistent night we've had so far this year. The car was pretty good for qualifying, but my laps could've been a little smoother. I thought the heat race went really well. In the feature, we could've been a touch better. Overall, I'm happy with the way things went. I think for running a part-time schedule, we're doing alright. It takes a little longer to learn things and make progress when we only run some of the races. I have to thank Aaron and Fred Pederson and Dan Hoerig for all their hard work each week on the 53A car whether I'm driving or Spyder [Akright] is driving." The Alex Pokorski-Akright Auto Racing Team is gearing up for a doubleheader weekend of 360 and 410 Sprint Car racing competition. On Saturday, Aug. 17, Alex will compete with the Plymouth Dirt Track Racing-Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Cars at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. The program will include special guest appearances from the Midwest Legends Dirt Series and Street Stock divisions with the PDTR Grand Nationals and B Mods also featured. Grandstand gates open at 4:30 p.m. with qualifying at 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m. For those unable to attend, the event will be live-streamed on www.watchfye.tv. One night later, Alex is scheduled to wheel the team's 410 Sprint Car with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. during the annual Corn Fest event. The Badger Midgets will also be on the card. Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with open ceremonies slated at 6 p.m. The event will be available to view via live stream at Floracing.com. - Mike Mullen Crowned King
Sun Prairie, WI - Mike Mullen was crowned King of the WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour King of the Park at Angell Park Speedway in BMRE Electrick Carts Co Victory Lane. Mullen was the Champ Pans Fast Qualifier earlier in the night with a 14.796 second lap and by winning his heat race gave him a shot at the Ken's Sport Inc Pole Sitter award, when he re-drew the top starting spot. Mullen and Brad Mueller led the field to the green flag, with Mullen taking the lead from the start. Brett Swedberg battled with Mueller for second, eventually taking the position for good on lap four. The only caution of the night came on lap six, erasing Mullen's advantage over Swedberg. On the restart, Mullen maintained his lead with Swedberg, Mueller, Mitch McGrath and Nick Anvelink rounding out the top five. Mullen continued to pace the field and pulled ahead to a 1.685 second lead over Swedberg at the halfway point. As the leaders approached the tail end of the field, Swedberg was able to close the gap to .476 seconds with ten laps remaining. Mullen tried to extend his lead, while Swedberg continued to close the gap between himself and the leader, with just five laps to go. Mullen went on to win his sixth WABAM Dirt Kings Late Model Tour race of his career and his second win of the 2024 season. - Paul Pokorski lands familiar 4 in Plymouth top 10
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) August 6, 2024 - After campaigning a No. 4 car under the Pokorski Motorsports banner for 29 seasons, Paul Pokorski returned to the driver's seat of the car his son, Alex, now pilots on a full-time basis for the Akright Auto Racing Team and turned a solid top-10 A-main showing in Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing-Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car competition at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 3. With Alex off for the night to attend a wedding, Paul opened the night by qualifying 11th overall in the 25-car field with a lap of 13.407 seconds. The 32-year competitor rolled off from the fifth starting spot in the second eight-lap PDTR-MSA heat race needing a top-five finish to transfer to the 25-lap A-main. However, Pokorski slipped back one spot to place sixth, which put him in the B main. The 2014 Midwest Sprint Car Association Masters Series champion started second in the 12-lap B main and dueled throughout the race with polesitter Scott Conger before coming home with a second place showing to advance to the A-main. "I was a little disappointed with the results from qualifying and the heat race," Pokorski said. "I felt the car was down a bit on power, but I thought it may just be me. The B-main went about as well as expected. I had a really fun battle for the last four or five laps with Scott Conger. Scott's a good friend and always a really clean racer. So, I had no concerns about running close to him and it was a lot of fun. I wish we had just been one spot better, but it really made no difference because we were both going to start the feature event." The West Bend, Wis. driver started 17th in the 25-lap PDTR-MSA main event and used the high and low side of the multi-groove racing surface to advance eight spots and secure a ninth place showing in a race won by Joseph Hintz. Pokorski's run from 17th to ninth netted him the Hard Charger Award in the 25-lap A-main. "I didn't have any grand plan in the A main," Pokorski said. "We just tried some things outside of the ordinary to learn and make some progress. I was happy with the result. Going from 17th to ninth was about as well as I could have expected. We took the motor out on Sunday because I wasn't happy with the way it was performing and we did find some issues. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the night. I'm sure we'll get our engine figured out this week, so we, hopefully, will have a great night next week when Alex gets back in the car." Alex Pokorski will return to the seat of the No. 4 Alex Pokorski - Akright Auto Racing Team car for the next Plymouth Dirt Track Racing program at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 10. The evening will also feature the finale of the 2024 106.5 The Buzz Seubert Calf Ranches Super Six Late Model Series, Grand Nationals and B Mods. - Hartmann conquers adversity to salvage solid IRA showings
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 31, 2024 - A doubleheader weekend of Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series action at Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway in Beaver Dam, Wis. on Friday, July 26 and The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, July 27 presented Austin Hartmann and the 87A Hartmann Racing team crew with a steady procession of mechanical maladies to untangle. However, undaunted, the young team showed its resiliency in putting a car on the track capable of maneuvering up through the field and Hartmann delivered the precision moves on the track to match. The weekend opened at the sprawling Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway commonly dubbed "the horsepower half-mile" for the seventh annual Harry Neitzel Tribute on Friday, July 26. However, motor issues kept Hartmann from registering a qualifying lap or producing a heat race result. After the crew worked feverishly to figure out the issue, Hartmann fired off the 20-lap Harry Neitzel Tribute A-main from the 16th starting spot in the 19-car field. The third-year IRA 410 Sprint Car Series full-time competitor drove a solid race to improve three positions and come home with a 13th-place showing in a race won by Scotty Thiel. One night later, the 87A Hartmann Racing team returned to its home track - The Plymouth Dirt Track - for the IRA's second appearance of the 2024 campaign at the venerable third-mile clay oval. The 2020 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing Rookie of the Year Award winner turned in the 21st fastest qualifying lap in the 28-car field with a lap of 13.002 seconds. After starting seventh and finishing sixth in the third IRA eight-lap heat race, the Plymouth, Wis. driver started 17th in the 30-lap main event. In a race that produced four stoppages on two red flags and two caution flags, Hartmann picked his way through the field to register a plus-five 12th place showing in a race won by Joel Myers Jr. Overall, the weekend concluded with Hartmann advancing a total of eight positions in A-main competition and recording the team's ninth top-15 A-main showing of the 2024 campaign. "Fuel issues were the problem with the motor on Friday at Dodge County," Hartmann said. "It was a whirlwind of a weekend. The hood was off the car a total of seven times on Friday and Saturday. Despite that, I'm glad we were able to move forward in both features. We're fully focused on coming back stronger after the Knoxville Nationals break." After taking the next two weekends off with a break in the 2024 Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series schedule, the 87A Hartmann Racing Team is slated to return to action with the IRA 410 Sprint Car Series for a fair-filled doubleheader weekend kicking off with the annual Kenosha County Fair event at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 17. The all-open-wheel event will also feature the Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Car Series and the IRA Lightning Sprints. Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 5:45 p.m. and racing scheduled to start at 6:45 p.m. The IRA 2024 doubleheader weekend wraps up with the annual Corn Fest event at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. on Sunday, Aug. 18 with the Badger Midgets filling out the card. Grandstand gates open at 4 p.m. with engine heat at 5 p.m. and opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. All Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series events can be viewed via live streaming at Floracing.com. - Arenz puts on back-to-front show in Plymouth IRA action
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 31, 2024 - With a total of 37 A-main victories covering four diverse racing divisions and a total of three track titles to his credit during his 17-year racing career, The Plymouth Dirt Track is a special place for Travis Arenz. Considering his resume at the third-mile clay oval, strong performances at his home track shouldn't come as a surprise. The latest show-stopping fete of Arenz's impressive accomplishment-filled career came on Saturday, July 27 when "Mr. Excitement" came through the B main to record a stirring top-five showing in a Bumper to Bumper 410 Sprint Car Series A-main at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. The night got off to an extremely slow start for the Sheboygan Falls, Wis. racer as he timed in 25th quick in the 28-car IRA field with a lap of 13.196 seconds on a rapidly drying out racing surface. After being buried in the ninth starting position in the first eight-lap IRA heat race, Arenz advanced three spots to come home sixth to fall just one spot out of an automatic transfer to the 25-lap A-main. Starting third in the IRA B-main, the 2021 and 2022 Akright Auto Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing champion came home second to earn a berth in the 25-lap headliner. After rolling off from the 20th starting position, Arenz negotiated two red flags and a pair of caution periods while mounting a furious change from the back to the front of the field. Utilizing the top, middle and bottom grooves of the dry, smooth and multi-groove Plymouth Dirt Track racing surface, Arenz bolted into the top 10 on lap 16. He then benefitted from a pair of caution flags during the final 10 laps of the race to weave his way past a slew of fast cars to advance to the checkered flag in fourth place behind race winner Joel Myers Jr. Arenz's plus-16 position A-main run netted him his third top-five and fourth top-10 main event showing in 11 IRA events during the 2024 campaign. "As usual, I didn't draw the best to start the night," Arenz said. "When we were supposed to go out for engine heat, my car wouldn't fire. We found a fueling issue. Once that was taken care of, it finally fired and we were able to hot lap. Qualifying was horrible. The car handled horribly and the motor fell on its face. "I missed the setup a bit in the heat race, which caused us to have to run the B-main," he said. "We transferred to the A-main and I was able to drive from 20th up to fourth. I went into the feature knowing I needed to be patient and hit my marks. I quickly started picking off cars each lap and just knew I had to stay consistent. This was an outcome we really needed." The team's schedule for the remainder of the 2024 season will depend in part on available crew help. "As for future racing, I would like to race as much as possible," Arenz said. "However, that will include talking to the crew to see who can go to which events. Currently, I'm looking for another set of crew hands to help finish the year." Anyone interested in assisting the team as a crew member is invited to send a message to the Travis Arenz Motorsports Facebook page. Following two weekends off, the Travis Arenz Motorsports team intends to return to action with the Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series for a fair-filled doubleheader weekend kicking off with the annual Kenosha County Fair event at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. on Saturday, Aug. 17. The all-open-wheel event will also feature the Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Car Series and the IRA Lightning Sprints. - Alex, Paul Pokorski swap top-10s at Dodge County, Plymouth
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 30, 2024 - The last scheduled doubleheader weekend of the 2024 Akright Auto Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car Series season produced a garden variety of results while cultivating one top-10 A-main showing apiece for Akright Auto Racing Team drivers Alex and Paul Pokorski in MSA action at Dodge County Fairgrounds Speedway in Beaver Dam, Wis. for the seventh annual Harry Neitzel Tribute Race on Friday, July 26 and The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, July 27. Returning to the site of his first MSA A-main victory on June 2, 2023, Alex Pokorski timed in ninth out of the 21 entries on hand at Dodge County with a lap of 19.380 seconds on the sprawling "horsepower half-mile" facility. After starting second in the first MSA eight-lap heat race, Alex raced to his third heat race victory of the 2024 season. Following the dice roll invert, the fifth-year 360 Sprint Car racer started ninth in the 20-lap main event. The 2023 MSA and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing Most Improved Driver Award winner drove a steady race to rack up a solid seventh-place showing and nail down his sixth top-10 main event finish of the 2024 campaign in a race won by Brandon Berth. "Racing at Dodge County was fun," Alex said. "I like racing there. I got a perfect start and was able to set sail in the heat race to get the win. I wish we would've been able to finish a little better in the feature." On Saturday, July 27, Alex posted the 13th fastest qualifying lap in the 23-car Plymouth Dirt Track Racing-MSA 360 Sprint Car field in 13.774 seconds. He then started fifth and placed fourth in the third eight-lap heat race to earn the 13th starting position in the MSA portion of the Harry Neitzel Tribute Race main event. The race got off to a rough start for Pokorski as he collided with the spinning car of Justin Erickson in turn two on lap 3, which resulted in him retreating to the work area. Following some quick crew work, Pokorski returned to the track just in time to restart the race at the rear of the field. Pokorski then put together an impressive run back to the front over the final 22 laps to secure a 12th-place showing in a race won by Kurt Davis. "Our night at Plymouth was a bit rocky," Pokorski said. "Qualifying didn't go our way. The heat race was better against tough competition. The feature did not start well with the wreck. The crew did a great job changing a shock and a radius rod to get me back out. The race after that point was fun. The track was pretty even on the top and bottom. We got back past 10 cars or so, which was good." Paul Pokorski made his fifth start of the 2024 season in the seat of Spyder Akright's 53A car for PDTR-MSA action at The Plymouth Dirt Track on Saturday, July 27. After earning the fast qualifier award in his most recent outing in the 53A car during the rain-shortened PDTR-MSA program on Saturday, July 13, the 32-year racing veteran qualified ninth overall in the 23-car field with a lap of 13.658 seconds. Paul then lined up on the outside of the front row in the second eight-lap PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car heat race. He got a good jump at the start and led every lap en route to his first heat race victory of the 2024 campaign. Following the dice roll invert, Paul claimed the pole position in the 25-lap PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car main event. After a rough start, which saw him fall back to ninth on lap six, Paul used the low groove to power back up to the fifth spot on lap 14. However, the 2024 Midwest Sprint Car Association Masters Series champion lost three spots in the final stretch of the race to register an eighth-place showing, which was his first top-10 main event finish of the 2024 season. "Qualifying went okay and the result was about what I expected," Paul said. "We had a red flag during the session that negated what I think might've been my best lap, but that's the way it goes. We made some pretty significant changes before the heat race and they did what I hoped they would do and the car was really good. "In the feature, I just made the mistake of not committing to the top at the start," he said. "Instead, I decided to sort of run a slide job line into the corner through the middle. It didn't work! I ended up getting stuck in the middle with cars on both sides through one and two and lost a bunch of spots. I moved up as the race went on, and the car felt pretty good until about the last six laps. So, I started to hunt around, which was a mistake on my part again. I did get going pretty well on the top, but with only two laps or so left, there was only so much to be gained. Overall, it wasn't too bad of a night. I just hate backing up in a main event." With Alex off to attend a wedding, Paul is scheduled to fill in behind the wheel of Alex's No. 4 Akright Auto Racing Team car for the next PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Car event this Saturday, Aug. 3 at The Plymouth Dirt Track. The PDTR Grand Nationals, B Mods, IRA Lightning Sprints and High School Racing Association will also be in action. The program will feature a kids' coin and candy drop sponsored by VanDerVart Concrete, as well as a coloring contest with prizes for the winners. - Jones and Zielski Win at Angell Park
Parker Jones and Ryan Zielski won feature events Sunday night at Angell Park Speedway during the Badger Midgets Racers Reunion.
- Alex Pokorski keeps it steady in MSA Eagle River Speedway return
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 9, 2024 - While the 2024 racing season has been far from predictable from a weather angle, Alex Pokorski and the Akright Auto Racing Team have been pillars of consistency in Akright Auto Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car competition with the latest example of which coming via a solid sixth-place showing in the 25-lap main event at Eagle River Speedway in Eagle River, Wis. on Saturday, July 6. The seventh overall MSA event and fifth complete race night of the 2024 season drew a field of 21 Sprint Cars for the second-ever Winged Sprint Car race ever held at the unique third-mile D-shaped clay oval. The fifth-year Sprint Car competitor opened the night by qualifying third overall in the 21-car field with a lap of 13.875 seconds. The West Bend, Wis. driver then lined up fourth in an eight-lap Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car before moving past Clayton Rossmann and Bill Taylor to slip into the runner-up spot, where he ended the race. After rolling off from the sixth starting position in the 25-lap main event, the 2023 PDTR and MSA Most Improved Driver Award winner dueled with a handful of his fellow competitors, including Clayton Rossmann, Justin Erickson and T.J. Haddy, for positions in and around the top-five throughout the race. Following a spirited battle with Erickson in the closing laps, Pokorski pulled off a well-executed pass in turn four of the final lap to secure his fourth top-10 showing of the 2024 MSA campaign with a sixth-place finish in a race won by Ben Schmidt. "We have been starting nights out really well," Pokorski said. "We just need a bit more speed come feature time. It was fun to race side-by-side with guys in the feature, even though we didn't go anywhere. The Eagle River track is very nice. I wish it were closer to home so that we could race there more frequently." The Alex Pokorski-Akright Auto Racing Team will return to action at The Plymouth Dirt Track on Saturday, July 13 for the annual Plymouth Racing Wall of Fame Induction Night Program, during which the names of eight drivers (Fuzzy Fassbender, Donny Goeden, Dave Haag, Steve Hoffmann, Randy Markwardt, Pete Ostrowski, Steve Schad and K.J. Skelton), three track workers (Lee Glomski, John Laack and Bill Krueger) and the McMullen racing family will be added to the track's Wall of Fame. In addition, the PDTR-MSA 360 Sprint Cars, the Super Six Late Model Series, Grand Nationals and B Mods will also be on the card. - Post pads notebook with solid PDTR run
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 2, 2024 - Negotiating a tricky track surface with the poise of a seasoned veteran gave Randy Post the opportunity to add to his stockpile of valued information for future implementation in Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing - Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car competition at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, June 29. In his third full PDTR program of the 2024 campaign, Post opened the night by timing in 19th in the 24-car field with a lap of 14.288 seconds. The third-year Sprint Car racer then started fifth and placed seventh in the third PDTR-MSA eight-lap heat race, which was contested on a significantly undulating track surface. "Qualifying went well," Post said. "The car was a touch loose. We could have adjusted better for the track. The heat race was a mess. There were cars almost spinning all over on the start. That caused us to lose a spot right away, but the car felt good." After a track rework yielded a more level racing surface, the Oostburg, Wis. competitor started and finished 19th in the 25-lap PDTR-MSA main event, which was won by Robbie Pribnow. "The feature went really well for it being a one-lane track," Post said. "We tried finding different lines that worked. However, we just lost spots as soon as we came off the bottom. I would like to give the track crew huge props for helping to make the track smoother than it was in the heats. They did the best they could with the time they had and I appreciate them." The Randy Post Racing Team is set to take a short break from competition to address chassis and motor issues. "We won't be heading to Eagle River for the MSA race this Saturday," he said. "I found out on Sunday morning that our chassis broke on Saturday night. So, we are going to get it up to R&H and see if we can have it back in time before the July 13th race at Plymouth. We also have some motor issues that need to be addressed before the next race." After taking the upcoming weekend off, the Randy Post Racing team is scheduled to return to action at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, July 13 for the annual Plymouth Racing Wall of Fame Induction Night Program, during which the names of eight drivers (Fuzzy Fassbender, Donny Goeden, Dave Haag, Steve Hoffmann, Randy Markwardt, Pete Ostrowski, Steve Schad and K.J. Grandstand gates open at 4:30 p.m. with qualifying at 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m. Sponsorship partners and supporters of Randy Post and the 2024 Randy Post Racing Team include Luedtke Electric, Sunset Auto, Akright Auto, Oostburg Automotive and Progress Manufacturing Inc. - Alex Pokorski tallies third top-10, eyes Eagle River jaunt
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) July 2, 2024 - After exhibiting plenty of speed right of the box, Alex Pokorski held tight throughout the night to secure his third top-10 A-main showing of the 2024 season behind the wheel of the No, 4 Akright Auto Racing Team car in a 25-lap Akright Auto Plymouth Dirt Track Racing-Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car main event at The Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis. on Saturday, June 29. The fifth-year 360 Sprint Car competitor opened the night by ripping off the overall fastest time in group qualifying among the 24 cars in the field with a lap of 13.363 seconds around the historic third-mile clay oval. The 2023 Plymouth Dirt Track Racing and Midwest Sprint Car Association Most Improved Award recipient started fourth and came home second in the first 10-lap High Limit heat race. Pokorski rolled off eighth in the 25-lap MSA-PDTR 360 Sprint Car A-main and hung around the top-10 on a tricky dry, slick and dusty racing surface throughout the event. The West Bend, Wis. driver rallied in the latter stages of the race to secure a seventh-place finish in a race won by Robbie Pribnow. The result was Pokorski's third top-10 A-main showing in five MSA-PDTR 360 Sprint Car main events during the 2024 campaign. "The night started very well and we had a solid car all night," Pokorski said. "Unfortunately, doing well early starts us mid-pack for the feature. I wish we were able to get past a few more cars in the feature, but that's racing sometimes." Paul Pokorski made his third start of the 2024 season behind the wheel of Spyder Akright's 53A car. Paul qualified 16th overall with a lap of 13.986 seconds before starting and finishing seventh in the first eight-lap PDTR 360 Sprint Car heat race. The 32nd-year driver then topped off the night by advancing three positions from the 17th starting position to finish 14th in the 25-lap main event. "I thought the car was okay in qualifying in the heat race," Paul said. "It wasn't spot on, but it was okay. We made pretty big changes throughout the night and the crew worked really hard. The track was kind of different than most other nights and I thought pretty good considering all the rain we've had." The Alex Pokorski-Akright Auto Racing Team is set to make its second trip to Eagle River Speedway for an Akright Auto Midwest Sprint Car Association 360 Sprint Car main event on Saturday, July 6 in Eagle River, Wis. Also on the card are 600 Micro Sprints, 300 Junior Sprints, B Mods and the Milwaukee Stock Car Association Vintage Modifieds. Spectator gates open at 5 p.m. with racing scheduled to start at 6 p.m. The Alex Pokorski-Akright Auto Racing Team will then return to The Plymouth Dirt Track on Saturday, July 13 for the annual Plymouth Racing Wall of Fame Induction Night Program, during which the names of eight drivers (Fuzzy Fassbender, Donny Goeden, Dave Haag, Steve Hoffmann, Randy Markwardt, Pete Ostrowski, Steve Schad and K.J. - Hartmann flashes speed, pushes ahead in IRA action at Angell Park Speedway
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) June 12, 2024 - A strong introduction and a solid conclusion could best describe Austin Hartmann and the 87A Hartmann Racing team's performance in the seventh Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series event of the 2024 campaign with Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis. serving as the competitive stage Sunday, June 9. The fifth-year Sprint Car competitor opened the annual Norm Nelson Classic racing program by qualifying third in the 30-car field after ripping off a rapid lap of 12.569 seconds around the historic third-mile clay oval. After lining up fourth in the third eight-lap IRA heat race, Hartmann found the going difficult on the dry slick track surface as he slipped back three spots to finish in seventh place at the checkered flag and missed transferring to the A-main by a single position. The 2020 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car Rookie of the Year Award recipient then started on the pole of the 10-lap IRA B-main and pulled away to post the victory by a full straight away over Shelby Bosie. After a complete reworking of the track surface, Hartmann lined up 18th in the 30-lap IRA A-main before falling back to 20th in the early going. Following an uneventful first half of the race, the Plymouth, Wis. native hit his stride in the second 15 laps of the event as he utilized the low groove to power past Danny Schlafer and Lance Fassbender on lap 16. Two laps later, Hartmann ducked under Shelby Bosie and Van Gurley Jr. before wheeling past Will Gerrits on lap 22 to claim the 14th position in the running order. Hartmann then moved in to apply heavy pressure to Jett Mann in the closing stages of the race before settling for a 14th-place showing in the caution-free race, which was won by Scotty Thiel. It was Hartmann's fifth top-15 A-main showing in seven 2024 IRA events. "We had a lot of ups and downs during the night," Hartmann said. "The pill draw for qualifying was key for the track conditions. The heat race didn't go in our favor. We regrouped and got our balance back in the car and salvaged a decent finish on the night. We got good notes for another night coming up at Wilmot this Saturday. We'll keep digging!" The 87A Hartmann Racing team was scheduled to compete in the fourth annual Road America Challenge IRA event at The Plymouth Dirt Track on Saturday, June 8. However, the event fell victim to rain. Hartmann is slated to compete this Saturday, June 15 with the IRA Sprint Car Series at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis. The Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Cars, Street Stocks and Bandits are also on the card. Spectator gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 5:45 p.m. and racing set to start at 6:45 p.m. The sponsorship partners for the 2024 87A Hartmann Racing team include Kristine Hartmann of Pleasant View Realty, Shufflebotham Tree Service, Competition Specialists, Feldmann Sales & Service, Holler n Hills, Quasius Construction Inc., TheD8Dispensary, AF Inc., Metalcraft, Rich's Truck and Auto Repair, Fastenal of Plymouth, Waldo Oil, RC Custom Design, Hepfner Racing Products, Maxim Chassis, Berryman Racing Shocks and My Race Pass. - Motor issues stall Arenz at Angell Park Speedway
(PEDAL DOWN PROMOTIONS) June 12, 2024 - It was night Travis Arenz and the members of the Travis Arenz Motorsports team would like to toss into File 13, as mechanical maladies brought their participation in a Bumper to Bumper Interstate Racing Association 410 Sprint Car Series event to a premature end Sunday, June 9 at Angell Park Speedway in Angell Park, Wis. Arenz opened the annual Norm Nelson Classic on a high note by qualifying fifth in the 30-car field with a lap of 12.598 seconds. The 2021 and 2022 Midwest Sprint Car Association and Plymouth Dirt Track Racing 360 Sprint Car champion then rolled off third in the second eight-lap IRA heat race. Arenz struggled throughout the race as Jordan Goldesberry, Joel Meyers Jr. and Jake Neuman moved past the Sheboygan Falls, Wis. driver. However, Arenz still managed to hold on to finish sixth and earn a spot in both the IRA dash and A-main lineups. Arenz's 25T machine did not return to the track for the remainder of the racing program as a motor issue forced the team to scratch from the dash and A-main. "Near the end of the heat race, the motor dropped a valve and hurt the motor," Arenz said. "Unfortunately, our other two motors are not finished yet. We are not sure about our status for the rest of the season as of now. "The good news is I got my MSD box back from the IRA, after it got sent out to be checked for traction control," he said. "Everything was legal." The Travis Arenz Motorsports team was scheduled to compete in the fourth annual Road America Challenge IRA event at The Plymouth Dirt Track on Saturday, June 8. However, the event fell victim to rain. Due to the team's current motor issues, the upcoming schedule for the Travis Arenz Motorsports team is undetermined.
