MLRA Late Models headline two-night Ron Jenkins Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway

WHEATLAND, MO. (Sept. 1, 2026) - One of the great traditions at Lucas Oil Speedway on Labor Day weekend is top-notch Open Late Model racing and that will continue as the Midwest Late Model Racing Association returns this Friday and Saturday nights.

The Iconic Apparel 12th annual Ron Jenkins Memorial Presented by Rugged Radio finds the MLRA series returning with back-to-back programs. Friday's feature winner will earn $5,000 with Saturday's first prize doubling to $10,000.

The race is named in honor of the late Ron Jenkins, who built the original Wheatland Raceway. Jenkins' wife, Mary, is adding $1,000 on Ron's behalf on Friday along with an extra $500 for fast time in time trials on Saturday night.

Hickamo Super Stocks will join the MLRA both nights, with POWRi Midwest Mods on the Friday program and Show-Me Vintage Racers the third class on Saturday night.

The MLRA appeared at Lucas Oil Speedway in April with Jonathan Davenport winning both ends of the Spring Nationals. Series regular Tony Jackson Jr. of Lebanon has three feature wins in eight events and is the championship points leader with a 270-point margin over Aaron Marrant of Kearney. Jeff Herzog of Festus and Brennon Willard are third and fourth.
