The United States Racing Association (USRA) was formed in 2002 with a mission of (1) fostering a robust level of participation by competitors wanting smart, cost-effective rules that do not hinder creativity but allow for close competition, (2) boosting fan attendance at USRA-sanctioned racetracks with sound marketing strategies and exctiging racing divisions, and (3) increased marketing and sponsorship dollars for each USRA-sanctioned racetrack.

The USRA currently sanctions eight divisions at some of the finest speedways in America: USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods, USRA Hobby Stocks, USRA Late Models, USRA Limited Mods, USRA Factory Stocks and USRA Tuners.

Thousands of racers compete in the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series each year as they vie for some of the best weekly purses and highest points funds in their divisions and at some of the finest dirt track facilities across the fruited plain.

  Patient Mullens earns USMTS King of America XV crown at Lucas Oil Speedway

  WHEATLAND, MO. (March 28, 2026) - Tanner Mullens took command just past the halfway mark and dominated the rest of the way to earn the crown at the United States Modified Touring Series King of America XV on Saturday night at Lucas Oil Speedway. "I just can't believe it, man," Mullens said in victory lane after claiming the $15,000 victory in a race that eluded him a year ago - when he faded at about the same time he began to dominate this time. Mullens, of Wichita, Kansas, beat Reece Solander by 2.5 seconds. Gabe Hodges, who like his teammate Solander won preliminary night features, finished third for a strong showing by the Hodges Brothers Racing team. Mullens sailed around race-long leader Tyler Stevens on lap 35 and that was all she wrote. He was up to the challenge on multiple restarts the rest of the way, but wound up pulling away. Mullens said he was motivated by his failure to close the King of America a year ago, when he pushed too hard in the first half of the race and his tires went away. "That's about all I thought about," Mullens said of last year's failure to close after leading 40 laps. "Tyler got out there and Reece set the pace. I tried to be as patient as I could. Once I got by Reece, I kind of maintained and then I knew it was about time to get going." The feature started with 10 rows, three wide and it was Stevens setting the early pace ahead of Solander with Tyler Davis third. Stevens was able to carve out a .696-second lead over Davis through 10 laps. Tanner Mullens moved from ninth to fourth by lap 12 and the top four were separated by 1.5-seconds. Davis continued to ride the high side and maintained a lead of just under one second after 20 laps. Caution on lap 24 eliminated Stevens' 1.2-second lead over Davis with Mullens in third. Mullens took over second on the restart and wasted no time pressuring Stevens for the lead as the race approached the midpoint. Just one lap past halfway, another caution flew, taking away a .901-second lead for Stevens. On the restart, Stevens staved off Mullens - but only briefly. Finally, on lap 35, Mullens went around Stevens on the outside in turn two for the first lead change. Mullens took off from there and distanced himself from Stevens by a half-second by lap 40. Mullens' lead stood at .801 seconds when a lap-45 caution bunched the field with 15 to go, but he had a terrific restart and extended the lead to one-second over Davis in just two laps. One more caution, on lap 54, erased Mullens' race-high 1.7-second lead. That gave Davis, Solander and Stevens, running second, third and fourth, one more shot at running down the leader. Mullens quickly dashed their hopes. With a flawless restart, the 33-year-old dominated the rest of the way and prevailed by 2.5-seconds over Solander. Mullens' weekend didn't start well as the team had to replace a motor after a poor practice session on Wednesday night. "Practice was horrible and I don't know what we had going on (Thursday night) but about 20 laps in it started cutting out and we didn't finish," Mullens said. "Last night it started again. We changed everything we could imagine." Six-time USMTS champ Rodney Sanders finished fourth and Brandon Davis was fifth. Solander, of Emporia, Kan., said he just couldn't keep up with Mullens while doing the best he could at conserving his tires for the final portion. "I saved until the end and I tried to push there with 15 or 20 to go and my brake pedal went to the floor," Solander said. "Tanner was really, really good tonight. Congrats to him and it was a good weekend." Former Lucas Oil Speedway track champion Bobby Williams of Hermitage picked up $1,000 with his win in the Non-Qualifiers special - a bonus event for those who did not qualify for the main event. "We've had a miserable week. I'm glad we could pull the non-qualifier off because we couldn't do anything else," Williams said. King captures USRA B-Mod feature: Cody King of Fanshawe, Okla., took the lead halfway through the 30-lap Clear Creek Golf Cars USRA B-Mod feature and held off Jon Sheets for the $3,000 win. Sheets and King started on the front row and they ran 1-2 much of the race. King forged his way around Sheets out of turn four as the duo were mixed in with lapped traffic to complete lap 15. King, who won Friday's preliminary feature, stretched his lead to 1.2 seconds by lap 20. As the race continued its green-flag run, King picked his way through lapped cars to extend his margin to 1.5 seconds before a lap-23 caution flew. King went on to beat Sheets by .657 seconds. Mike Striegel was third with Chad Clancy fourth and Waylon Dimmitt fifth. "I thought I would have a chance and when we got into lapped traffic, it worked out," King said of overtaking Sheets, who won Thursday's feature. USRA Stock Cars thriller goes to Bailey: Shayne Bailey of Kearney, Mo., passed race-long leader Johnny Fennewald on the final lap to grab the $3,000 prize in the O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars feature. Fennewald had led the first 29 laps, but Bailey was breathing down his neck over the final laps. Bailey made the winning pass down the backstretch for the win, with Fennewald fading to fourth and Jeffrey Abbey capturing second. Jaylen Wettengel rallied into third with Fennewald and Mason Martin rounding out the top five. Bailey said with $3,000 on the line, he had to do what he could to win the duel on the last lap. "It's just stock car racing, man" Bailey said. "You've got to lean on 'em every now and then."   Solander soars to USMTS King of America Night 2 triumph at Lucas Oil Speedway

  WHEATLAND, MO. (March 27, 2026) - For the second straight night, a first-time United States Modified Touring Series winner found victory lane in the 15th annual Summit USMTS King of America at Lucas Oil Speedway. Reece Solander of Emporia, Kansas, a Hodges Brother Racing teammate of Thursday night's winner Gabe Hodges, led wire to wire to win the $3,000 prize in a caution-free affair. The USMTS drivers will pursue a $15,000 feature win on Saturday night with the top nine locked into starting lineup, based on their best of two preliminary night results. Solander, second to Hodges on Night One, got the job done in a big way by leading all 33 laps. Solander, 24, admitted he was a bit nervous as the laps clicked away. "I didn't see the five to go. The white flag just popped out," Solander said in victory lane. "I'm not gonna lie. My last last was horrible. Nerves kicked in. It's pretty special to be up here." Action concludes on Saturday night with an earlier than planned starting time. Grandstands open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 5. Solander started on the pole Friday and set a brisk early pace, opening a 1.3-second lead over Tyler Stevens by lap five. Stevens gradually cut into the lead, cutting it to a half-second by lap 10 with Davis and Stormy Scott battling for third nearly two seconds behind. The leaders caught lapped traffic by lap 15. Solander weaved his way through the slower cars and expanded the lead as the race continued its lengthy green-flag run. The cushion was two seconds by lap 25 over Davis, who caught and passed Stevens. Solander took it home from there, beating the fifth-starting Davis, of Hayfield, Minn., by .720 seconds at the finish. "I was super happy for (Hodges) last night. That was a cool deal to run 1-2," Solander said of his teammate. "You don't get to do that very often. It feels like we have the cars running pretty good right now. It's awesome to be here with my first win at Lucas Oil Speedway." Stevens wound up third with Talan Willis fourth and Tanner Mullens fifth. A total of 66 USMTS drivers checked into the pits with 171 entries across the three divisions. King grabs USRA B-Mod feature: Cody King of Fanshawe, Okla., led all 20 laps and survived a late-race restart to grab the Clear Creek Golf Cars USRA B-Mod main event and $1,000. King, who started sixth, took the lead on lap four after pole-starting Cayden Stacye led the first three circuits. King opened a 2.2-second lead by the halfway mark on lap 10. As Stacye and Chad Clancy battled for second, King was making it a runaway. His lead ballooned to 3.4 seconds by lap 15. But the race's first caution wiped out his big lead with three to go, giving Clancy and Stacye a chance. King had a solid restart and held on to prevail over Stacye by .762 seconds with Stephen Clancy settling for third. King said he never could see himself on the video board, so he couldn't measure his lead, which left him a bit uneasy. "I kept changing my line, so I never knew where to be," King said. "When you're leading you're always a sitting duck. I definitely didn't want to lose it at that end, but that was awesome." Chad Clancy slipped to fourth with Andy Bryant coming home fifth. Fennewald repeats in USRA Stock Cars: Johnny Fennewald of Appleton City made it back-to-back wins in the O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars, leading all the way and fighting off a late surge from Jeffrey Abbey of Rhome, Texas. Fennewald started up front and rolled to a 2.1-second lead over Rodney Schweizer before caution slow the action on lap six. Kyle Falck took over second on the restart with Jeffrey Abbey into third as Schweitzer broke something on the left front wheel. Abbey, who started 13th, slid into second on lap 12 and gave chase to the leader. Abbey caught Fennewald by lap 15 and the two were side-by-side to finish lap 17. The next time around, caution flew for a spinning car near the rear of the field just as Abbey was passing for the lead. The restart order reverted to the previous green-flag lap, giving Fennewald the lead for a three-lap shootout. Fennewald executed a perfect restart and went on to beat Abbey by .997 seconds. Justin Custer was third with Falck fourth and Shayne Bailey fifth. "That's racing," Fennewald said of the timely caution flag. "I was really good before that caution and I don't know if my right rear sealed up or what, but it wasn't quite as good. I knew I had to free my car up a little bit, so I put some rear brake in it and slowed my entry down. It came along pretty good then and I ended up winning."   Hodges wins opener as USMTS King of America gets under way at Lucas Oil Speedway

  WHEATLAND, MO. (March 26, 2026) - It was a memorable Thursday night for a first-time Summit United States Modified Touring Series winner as Gabe Hodges celebrated a Night One win at the King of America XV at Lucas Oil Speedway. Hodges, of Lebo, Kansas, regained the lead with eight laps remaining and held on to take the $3,000 win on the first of two preliminary nights of the 15th annual event. The 23-year-old prevailed on a night that saw 66 USMTS drivers check into the pits, with a total of 176 entries across three divisions. "I've really struggled these last few weeks," Hodges said in victory lane, his crew celebrating nearby. "We put together some good finishes at the beginning of the year and made some changes to the car. We were pretty good in practice (Wednesday) night. I'm glad we figured something out here." Action resumes on Friday with the USMTS Modifieds, Clear Creek Golf Cars USRA B-Mods and O'Reilly Auto Parts Stock Cars. Due to cold weather conditions, start time has been moved ahead two hours with racing at 5 p.m. Grandstands are to open at 4 p.m. with the pit office open at 2:30. The top nine USMTS drivers will take their best of the two and will be locked directly into Saturday night's three-wide start championship finale, which will pay $15,000 to win and $1,500 to start. Hodges started outside of row two and was able to catch and pass pole-starting Tyler Davis for the lead on lap four. Hodges was leading by .686 seconds when the first caution slowed the action on lap nine. Reece Solander rolled into second by lap 13 and Tanner Mullens, who started 11th, up to third as Hodges continued to lead. Hodges' lead was just under one second when caution flew on lap 17 of the 30-lapper. Mullens used the restart to slide his way past Hodges and into the lead to complete lap 18, but Hodges rallied to regain the top spot on lap 22, just before the race's fourth caution came out to set up an eight-lap shootout. Mullens lost two positions on the restart as Solander and Tyler Davis advanced to second and third. Hodges was able to hold on as the race remained green, beating Solander, his teammate, by .282 seconds. "At the beginning the top was really good and I had something to lean on," Hodges said of strategy. "Later in the race, with 10 or 12 to go, I seen Tanner's nose down here on the start and on the other end he kind of got around me. I thought I beat him back to the line and I didn't drive it down deep enough to slide him. "On that restart, I knew he couldn't run the top down here and I tried to take advantage there. It got too dirty up there and there was nothing to lean on. I kind of got down in that black groove and it cleaned up real good. We have a really good race car and really good engine under the hood." Davis finished third with Rodney Sanders rallying from 20th to fourth and Brandon Davis in fifth. Joining the USMTS Modifieds will be the O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars and Clear Creek Golf Cars USRA B-Mods, competing Thursday and Friday for $1,000 to win and $100 to start. The top eight drivers in points will take their best night and will lock into Saturday's championship features, which will pay $3,000 to win and $400 to start for both. Jackson wires B-Mod field: Lebanon's Kris Jackson led all 20 laps, holding off Jon Sheets, for the Clear Creek Golf Cars USRA B-Mod feature win. Jackson grabbed the early lead with Sheets giving chase, staying within a half-second through the first five laps with third-place Tim Karrick nearly two seconds behind the top duo. Jackson's lead was just .229 seconds by lap 10 with the first caution appearing a lap later for a spin in the back of the field. Karrick took away second after the restart, but Sheets regained it on lap 15. Jackson was able to open some breathing room as Sheets and Karrick battled. Jackson finished off a wire-to-wire win, finishing .367 seconds in front of Sheets with Karrick third, Josh Cain fourth and Dawson David in fifth. "If you're gonna out-run Jon Sheets, you better be on the top and you better have some momentum," Jackson said of his utilization of the high groove late in the race. "He tried putting a slider there and I was able to keep enough momentum where he couldn't really clean it." Fennewald captures Stock Cars win: Third-starting Johnny Fennewald of Appleton City took the lead on lap four and drove away to the O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars feature win. William Garner, starting outside of the front row, took the lead at the start and held it until Fennewald grabbed it away on lap four. Fennewald opened a 1.4-second lead by the halfway point on lap 10. He continued to set the pace the rest of the way as the race ran caution free and Fennewald prevailed by the same margin over Garner at the checkers. "It was on point all night long," Fennewald said of his car, noting that it's special to beat a deep field of competitors. "This Stock Car deal ... from every state, the toughest stock cars are here. To be able to win this deal is pretty big." Sixth-starting Shayne Bailey wound up third with Mason Martin fourth and Jeffrey Abbey taking fifth. The USRA Stock Cars and B-Mods are running for $1,000 to win and $100 to start both Thursday and Friday.   USMTS King of America kicks off Lucas Oil Speedway 2026 season this week

  WHEATLAND, MO. (March 23, 2026) - Lucas Oil Speedway kicks off its 20th season in a big way this week. The three-night, 15th annual King of America is set for Thursday through Saturday as the Summit Racing Equipment United States Modified Touring Series drivers battle for more than $150,000 in total prize money. Led by defending USMTS national champion Rodney Sanders of Happy, Texas, who won his unprecedented sixth title a year ago, the premier Modified series will kick off its season in Wheatland. A practice session is set for Wednesday night from 6:30-9:30 p.m., giving teams an opportunity to dial in for the multi-night major. Racing action kicks off Thursday and Friday with full programs featuring group qualifying, draft-style heat races, B-mains and 30-lap feature events for the USMTS Modifieds. Each night will pay $3,000 to win and $300 to start the feature. Drivers will accumulate points from qualifying, heat races and passing points across the two preliminary nights. The top nine drivers will take their best of the two and will be locked directly into Saturday night's three-wide start championship finale, which will pay $15,000 to win and $1,500 to start. Also on Saturday night, drivers who do not qualify for the main event will compete in a $1,000-to-win, $250-to-start Modified Non-Qualifier race. Grandstand gates open at 4 p.m. each day with hot laps at 6:30 and racing at 7. Joining the USMTS Modifieds will be the O'Reilly Auto Parts USRA Stock Cars and Clear Creek Golf Cars USRA B-Mods, competing Thursday and Friday for $1,000 to win and $100 to start. The top eight drivers in points will take their best night and will lock into Saturday's championship features, which will pay $3,000 to win and $400 to start for both.   Lucas Oil Speedway team set for Sertoma Chili Cookoff this weekend

  WHEATLAND, MO. (Feb. 19, 2025) - Lucas Oil Speedway will join businesses and restaurants from throughout the southwest Missouri region on Saturday at one of the winter's biggest charity fundraisers, the 44th annual Sertoma Chili Cookout in downtown Springfield. More than 60 teams, including Lucas Oil Speedway, will compete for the title of Chili King in both judged and people's choice voting. Racing fans are encouraged to stop by and visit with the Lucas Oil Speedway team at booths 40 and 41 inside the Springfield Expo Center at 635 E. St. Louis Street to sample and vote. In addition to having chili and talking racing, sign up for a raffle to win race tickets for the upcoming season and pick up free schedule cards and assorted other items. Tickets are $20, but score an additional $5 discount in advance by using the discount code SPEEDWAY at sertomachilicookoff.com. Processing fees are not included. The event runs from 11 a.m. through 5 p.m. with nine bands scheduled to play on the main stage with four more on the acoustic stage. The Sertoma Clubs are non-profit organizations that focus on raising money for charity, primarily sponsoring children charities in the Springfield and surrounding community. Boys and Girls Clubs of Springfield are a main benefactor of the event. The area Sertoma Clubs focus on the needs of at-risk youth in southwest Missouri. Throughout eight clubs, they give on average of over $300,000 per year to these causes. Test and Tune set for March 21: The Lucas Oil Speedway season opens March 26-28 with the USMTS King of America following an Open Test and Tune March 21 from 6-10 p.m. for the dirt track and from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. that day for the Off Road track.
