13th annual Summit USRA Nationals open at Lucas Oil Speedway

WHEATLAND, MO. (Sept. 30, 2026) - The 13th annual fall festival that is the Summit Racing Equipment USRA Nationals got underway on Wednesday night at Lucas Oil Speedway with double heat-race qualifying for the three largest divisions.

A total of 217 cars took the green flag with 52 USRA Modifieds, 84 USRA B-Mods and 81 USRA Stock Cars chasing passing points to set the field for programs on Thursday evening. That's when Modifieds, B-Mods and Stock Cars will race for $1,000-to-win in their respective A features.

Colson Kirk of Urbana, Mo., was the lone driver to win both his heat races. Kirk drove from second to first in USRA B-Mod Heat No. 7 and an impressive night to first in Heat 12. Others to stack up passing points in the B-Mods included Dan Hovden (fourth to first in Heat 2 and eighth to second in Heat 9), Dustin Kruse (eighth to second in Heat 7); Kris Jackson (sixth to first in heat 9) and Cody King (ninth to second in Heat 15).

In Modifieds, Nic Bidinger drove from sixth to first in Heat 2 and Keith Foss went from 10th to first in Heat 3. Strong showing in Stock Cars found Myles Michel going seventh to first in Heat 1, Jason Schlangen eighth to first in Heat 7 and Weston Koop fifth to first in Heat 9.

Hobby Stocks will join in with qualifying on Thursday as well with Tuners scheduled to practice.

Modifieds, Stock Cars, B-Mods, & Hobby Stocks Qualifying; hot laps 5 p.m., racing 5:30 p.m. Modifieds, Stock Cars and B-Mods will race for $1,000-to-win in their respective main events. Tuners on hand can practice.

Friday, Oct. 2: Modifieds, Hobby Stocks and Tuners Qualifying; hot laps 5 p.m., racing 5:30 p.m. Modifieds, Stock Cars and B-Mods multiple main events, while the Hobby Stocks battle through their alphabet races. Tuners will join the racing action Friday with a complete show.

Saturday, Oct. 3: Hot laps 4:30 p.m., racing 5 p.m. All classes will battle through their final alphabet races as drivers race their way into the main events.

Fun and games will take place each night, after racing, in the Diamond Bar with the annual Kickball Tournament moved to 10:30 a.m. Friday.
