Silver Dollar Speedway Dirt Track News
- Shane Golobic claims first career Tyler Wolf Memorial victory
Chico, CA…Fremont's Shane Golobic has grabbed several special wins in his Sprint Car career and on Friday night the veteran added another, by scoring the $5,000 top prize at the Tyler Wolf Memorial in Chico. It was Golobic's second consecutive triumph during SCCT Western Speedweek and marked his 15th all-time victory with the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour. Special thanks to Demo Mitty of Mittry Construction, along with Gary Perkins and Keith Arellano for bumping up the winners share at the 11th running of the Tyler Wolf Memorial. The Silver Dollar Speedway showcased a terrific atmosphere during the penultimate round of Speedweek and the drivers certainly gave the fans on hand an intriguing feature. Paradise driver John Michael Bunch began the evening by setting a new SCCT track record, before winning the High Sierra Industries Dash. One of the biggest roars of the night came when Bunch decided to take the Tyler Wolf Challenge and forgo his pole position, in favor of heading back to start 19th and have a shot at making some extra cheddar. The 35-lap finale came to the line with Chico's Kenny Allen and Golobic sharing the front row. A big pileup occurred on the opening lap however, and Bunch was among the drivers that needed to head for the work area. Once things got going it was Allen who jumped into the lead impressively and fended off every challenge that Golobic threw his way. The former Silver Dollar Speedway Rookie of the Year hasn't raced much the last couple years and did a fantastic job out front leading some of the top names in California Sprint Car racing. Golobic was patient as always though and waited for the opportunity to pounce, which came on lap 16. With Allen getting a bit tight on the cushion Golobic dove below and grabbed the lead. After that he pulled away from the field but the action behind him was as hot as the weather outside. Dylan Bloomfield and Tanner Carrick were worth the price of admission on this night, battling back and forth for numerous laps. Bloomfield solidified the runner up spot on lap 29 and then began to reel in the leader. The 18-year-old from Oakley looked like a rocket ship as he came after Golobic and when the white flag waved, he was right there. Rounding the final set of corners it looked to be a classic finish, only to have the yellow lights flash on, bringing things to a halt. It set up a two-lap shootout that saw Golobic hit his marks to bring home the win ahead of Bloomfield, Carrick, Justin Sanders and Andy Forsberg. Finishing sixth through 10th were Chance Grasty, Shane Hopkins, Corbin Rueschenberg, Nick Parker and Allen. John Clarke earned the Pit Stop USA Hard Charger Award, while Bunch was able to finish 16th after taking the Tyler Wolf Challenge. Thanks to the graciousness of several people during the night, extra money was added to the hard charger and the 19th place finisher among others. A strong field of 42 cars competed with SCCT on Friday night. Bunch took home a total of $300 for setting the Sierra Foothills Wine Services Fast Time to begin the program. The Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour finishes off Speedweek tonight at Placerville Speedway. Auburn's Andy Forsberg brings the point lead into the grand finale. He holds a seven-point advantage over a two way tie for second between Dylan Bloomfield and Shane Hopkins. - Shane Golobic surges to 14th career SCCT win on Thursday at Marysville Raceway
Marysville, CA…Shane Golobic made his first start of SCCT Speedweek count on Thursday night at Marysville Raceway, as he drove to his 14th career Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour triumph. With the win the Fremont native now moves back out front all by himself as the all-time leader in SCCT victories. "It's nice to get a win during our first start of SCCT Speedweek here in Marysville," Golobic said following the race. "It was a tricky track tonight, but luckily, we were able to get out front and set the pace. Hopefully we can carry the momentum into Chico tomorrow and Placerville on Saturday." SCCT Western Sprint Speedweek Round two and three winner Colby Copeland jumped out front at the waving of the green flag in the 35-lapper. Early on Harrisburg, Oregon driver Tyler Thompson hounded the rear of the VSR No. 5v, as he looked for his second victory of Speedweek. Lapped traffic created some excitement during the opening stages of the feature and on lap 10, Shane Golobic went two for one, getting by both Thompson and Golobic in one fell swoop. Several yellows slowed the flow of the contest after that, but through it all, Golobic remained calm, cool and collected. The driver of the NOS Energy Drink No. 17w had his way with things out front and went on to cross under the Darin Stahl checkered flag for victory. Auburn's Andy Forsberg made a late pass to secure the runner up position and in doing so, became the brand new SCCT season long point leader. It also marked his third podium of SCCT Speedweek. Thompson, Shane Hopkins and Dylan Bloomfield rounded out the top-five. Completing the top-10 in the main event were Pit Stop USA Hard Charger Tanner Carrick, who came from 17th to sixth over Copeland, Nick Parker, Dawson Hammes and Steel Powell. With four rounds complete in SCCT Speedweek, Colby Copeland continues to lead the standings by 13-points over Tyler Thompson. Forsberg sits 15-digits back in third, with Shane Hopkins 19-points behind in fourth. Dylan Bloomfield rounds out the top-five. The Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour will continue Western Sprint Speedweek at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico on Friday. The event marks the annual Tyler Wolf Memorial. - Marysville Raceway assumes July 18th SCCT Speedweek date with Yreka cancelation
Marysville, CA…Sprint Car Challenge Tour officials have announced an update to the SCCT Western Sprint Speedweek schedule. Due to fires in the area, Yreka Speedway has been forced to cancel their scheduled Thursday July 18th Speedweek stop. The track is still able to hold this weekend's Sport Mod event however, once that is completed, a full fire camp will move in, making it unable to operate the dirt track. Thanks to Promoter Dennis Gage the Thursday July 18th date will now be held at Marysville Raceway. It marks the second appearance of the season at the track for the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour. Pit gate will open at 2pm, with front gate opening at 5. "Yreka Speedway was looking forward to hosting the Sprint Car Challenge Tour for Speedweek, but due to the fires up there it just won't be possible," commented SCCT President Scott Russell. "I want to send a big thank you to Dennis Gage for being kind enough to let us run Marysville Raceway in its place and keep Speedweek in its original format with six races at six different tracks." The overall SCCT Speedweek champion will continue to take home $3,000 as part of a $6,000 total point fund. The runner up nets $2,000, while third place will claim $1,000. - SCCT 360s primed to tackle Western Sprint Speedweek on July 15th-20th
Cottage Grove, Oregon…For the first time in its history the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour readies for Western Sprint Speedweek this coming Monday through Saturday, showcasing six straight nights of racing at six different venues. Everything kicks off at Cottage Grove Speedway in Cottage Grove, Oregon this coming Monday July 15th. The popular quarter mile bullring launches the biggest week of racing yet for the SCCT 360s since debuting in 2017. Pit meeting on opening night will occur at 5pm, with cars on track at 5:45. Tuesday July 16th then brings the Sprint Car Challenge Tour to Coos Bay Speedway, followed by the Douglas County Dirt Track in Roseburg, Oregon on Wednesday July 17th. Speedweek continues south after that, heading back into California for a night of racing at Yreka Speedway on Thursday July 18th. A certain highlight of Speedweek takes place on Friday July 19th when SCCT invades Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico for the 11th annual Tyler Wolf Memorial. When 20-year-old Tyler Wolf lost his life at Calistoga Speedway in 2012 it was one of the darkest days in recent memory for the California racing scene. The Redding native had captured the Silver Dollar Speedway track title one year prior and was well liked throughout the pit area. The event in his memory continues to be one of the special shows each season at Silver Dollar Speedway. SCCT Western Sprint Speedweek all comes to a climax at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds based Placerville Speedway on Saturday July 20th. The overall SCCT Speedweek champion will take home $3,000 as part of a $6,000 total point fund. The runner up nets $2,000, while third place will claim $1,000. With the $500 Shop Kyle Larson Bonus Award automatically added in during Speedweek, each main event will pay a minimum of $3,000-to-win. The 24-car feature also dishes out a minimum of $400-to-start every night. The most recent Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour event saw El Cajon youngster Braden Chiaramonte pick up a thrilling victory in Antioch on June 15th. By doing so, the 17-year-old sits atop the SCCT standings going into Speedweek. Hanford's Michael Faccinto, Auburn's Andy Forsberg, Aromas' Justin Sanders and Livermore's Travis Labat round out the top-five through the first six events of the season. Additional drivers looking to run the full SCCT Speedweek include Placerville's Shane Hopkins, Lincoln's Tanner Carrick, Oakley's Dylan Bloomfield, Oregon racer Tyler Thompson, Arizona driver Corbin Rueschenberg, Fresno's Mariah Ede, Roseville's Colby Copeland, Wilton's Ashlyn Rodriguez, Yuba City's Seth Standley, Windsor's John Clarke and others. - SANDERS PARKS IT WITH DAVID TARTER MEMORIAL NARC WIN AT CHICO
(6/29/24 - Ben Deatherage) Chico, CA ... Justin Sanders mastered a lap 15 restart to secure the race lead and went on to win the exciting 35-lap David Tarter Memorial at Silver Dollar Speedway with the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series. It was the second time he has won the event, the fourth time he has bested the NARC regulars during the current campaign. "I'm happy to get this win again, and for the whole Tarter family," said Sanders in victory lane in front of his Farmer's Brewing Company #2X KPC of Mittry Motorsports. "Everyone knows how tragic it was when we lost David, and I knew if I won, I had to park in turn four and point up a #35 for David," Sander, who previously won this event in 2021, stopped in the final corner on his victory lap and got out of his racecar to celebrate with the fans. The H.A.M. Construction #35KM entry, piloted by Tyler Thompson, seized control of the top spot at the drop of the green flag. The Beacon Wealth Strategies dash winner and ARP Quick Qualifier set a fast pace but lost the advantage on a lap nine restart to Sanders. Sanders powered his way past Thompson on the back straightaway only to be slowed once again by another caution period three laps later. On the ensuing restart, the Bjork Construction #7B Maxim of Sean Becker immediately pressured the leader taking the lead on lap 15. Unfortunately, Becker's efforts were halted due to the event's lone red flag for an upside-down Shane Golobic. He was unhurt. When the race resumed, Becker got a little high on the exit of turn two, resulting in the loss of the lead and a melee for the lead between Sanders and the Tarlton & Son #21 Maxim of Cole Macedo. Sanders won the race back to the flag stand and effectively checked out from the rest of the field, despite another caution period and heavy lap traffic. "It was nice to have that open red and put air back in the tires," continued Sanders. I felt like my tires were getting too low on those restarts, and I was getting too tight. I tried too hard to blaze it on the top in turns one and two, but the open red came out. We changed the air pressure a bit, and it gave me a chance to get my head on straight." Rookie of the Year contender Dominic Gorden made a late race surge and finished an impressive second aboard his J.I. Apparel Company #10 KPC. Macedo wound up third, and Thompson was credited with fourth. Chase Johnson in the Toyota of Marin, Walnut Creek, and Sunnyvale #24 Maxim rounded out the top five. The second five includes Caeden Steele, Becker, Justyn Cox, Michael Faccinto, and Ryan Bernal. Gauge Garcia earned the Williams Roofing Hardcharger Award finishing 12th after starting in the last row. Heat winners earlier in the night were Macedo, Sanders, Gorden, and 2017 NARC champion Bud Kaeding. 2019 NARC champion D.J. Netto won the Starr Property Management B-Feature. - NARC SPRINT CARS HEADED TO CHICO FOR DAVID TARTER MEMORIAL ON JUNE 29TH
(6/25/24 - Ben Deatherage) Chico, California ... The cars and stars of the NARC 410 Sprint Series return to Silver Dollar Speedway on Saturday, June 29th, for the David Tarter Memorial. This is the last chance for fans to catch the 900+ horsepower fire breathing monsters of the NARC circuit kick the clay and take your breath away at the historic 1/4-mile oval. The super competitive NARC 410 Sprint Car Series has featured nine different winners in as many events during the month of June and ten overall this season in 14-events. "This is a really special race for this track," said longtime Silver Dollar Speedway announcer Troy Hennig, "It's a great honor to have known David (Tarter), and it's fantastic that his family can come together and do so much for this race and be involved in making it better every year." The race is run in honor of David Tarter, who tragically lost his life on June 8th, 2012, in a freak pit accident at Silver Dollar. Since 2013, there have been five winners of the Tarter Memorial, including the all-time leader Kyle Hirst, who has had five triumphs. Corey Day is the defending champion, winning the most recent one in 2022, while Sean Becker, Craig Stidham, and Justin Sanders join him as one-time winners of the race. Several raffle prizes will be offered, including a special David Tarter helmet, a pair of specially crafted embroidered quilts, several gift cards, and commemorative apparel. The money raised from these items will go into the purse and be put towards the 360 bonus. It will also go to the Enloe Medical Center, benefiting children with an extended hospital stay. To purchase any merchandise, secure a lap sponsor, or contribute to the 360 sprint car bonus award, please get ahold of Shelly via her cell phone at (530) 513-1500 or directly on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/shelley.tarter.9. The NorCal Dwarf Car Association will be the companion division for the entire weekend. Friday, June 28th, kicks off the racing weekend and will feature non-sanctioned 410 Sprint Car, Hobby Stock, and IMCA Northern SportMod action for the Brownell & Herseth Memorial. Who To Watch Lemoore's Cole Macedo enters the event as the series point leader and is coming off a third-place result at the Super Dirt Cup finale last Saturday. Macedo put the Tarlton Motorsports entry in victory lane last March when he won a thrilling Mini Gold Cup. With three wins on the year so far, he will carry a slim five-point advantage into Saturday night. Out of Aromas, Sanders is looking to return to his winning ways at Silver Dollar Speedway after getting fourth on the last night of Dirt Cup. Already scoring three NARC wins in 2024, the pilot of the Mittry Motorsports team and current runner-up in the points table has two career wins with the series at Chico when the tour came to town. Roseville racer Justyn Cox is looking to score his second win of the current campaign and will hope to add a NARC victory at Chico to his resume. Currently third in the title race, the Bates-Hamilton Racing driver is currently third in the championship, with his best SDS NARC finish being a seventh in 2013, and he was ninth back in the Spring. Rookie runner Caeden Steele emerged fourth in points after the long Northwest Swing. The recent High School valedictorian graduate from Easton posted his first career NARC podium at the Mini Gold Cup in March, showing everyone that he is a young man who can contend for wins this year. Since then, he has been consistently fast and has been close to earning his first career series win. When the series last visited Chico, 2017 NARC champion Bud Kaeding was fifth. The Campbell chauffeur has earned two NARC wins at the track since 2000, with wins coming in 2009 and 2015. He is fifth in NARC points. Oakley's Dylan Bloomfield had a great run at the Mini Gold Cup, ending his night fourth in the Vertullo Racing-fielded mount, and was second at the non-sanctioned Fair Race during Memorial Day weekend. Bloomfield is another young talent that has been close to achieving that breakthrough first career NARC win. Chase Johnson was ultra-fast during the last Chico visit in March and led many laps. The Penngrove pilot is undoubtedly determined to win, as he showed cheetah speed in both Spring races and was the runner-up in the non-sanctioned Mini Gold Cup prelim on March 15th. 2019 NARC champion D.J. Netto has the most 410 wins at Silver Dollar Speedway in 2024. Winning the first night of the Mini Gold Cup weekend and the Fair Race in May, the Hanford racer hopes to score his first Chico win with NARC; his best finish was a second in 2017. Fremont's Shane Golobic is hungry for a Chico win in 2024 with NARC. He was second at the Mini Gold Cup and already has won with the series in the current campaign with a triumph at Thunderbowl Raceway in May. If he could score the victory on Saturday, it would be the first time he's beaten the series at Silver Dollar. Andy Forsberg is always a driver to watch. Winning the 410 track championships in 2006, 2008, and 2017, the Auburn driver has only achieved a single NARC win when the series came to town—that was back in 2003. But Forsberg is a driver you can't discount and is always a threat to win when he shows up in the pit area. The aforementioned Becker is another veteran who should not be written off as he has six 410 track titles to his credit including five in a row from 2012-16. Living in Roseville, he wowed everyone with an impressive runner-up at Stockton's Salute to LeRoy Van Conett in May. The 2005 NARC champion has yet to finish the year outside the Top 10 in the three 410 shows Chico has put on and was seventh at the Mini Gold Cup after starting a deep in twenty-second. He has four NARC victories at Chico, getting winner's checks in 2003, 2005, and twice in 2006. The rest of the NARC 410 regular contingent includes Skagit Speedway Super Dirt Cup preliminary winner Dominic Gorden of Clovis, Gauge Garcia of Lemoore, Chico's Nick Parker, Billy Aton representing Benecia, and Lincoln gasser Tanner Carrick. Other Californian competitors in the crowd will be Wilton's Ashlyn Rodriguez, Michael Ing from Chico, Concord teenager Joey Ancona, Jarrett Soares of Gilroy, and many more. - Kids Bike Night on Tap Saturday at Placerville Speedway
Placerville, CA…The El Dorado County Fairgrounds based Placerville Speedway is excited to host one of its more anticipated events of the season, with the annual John Padjen "Kids Bike Night" presented by the Pizza Factory set to occur this Saturday June 29th. All kids 11 and under receive free admission during John Padjen Kids Bike Night on Saturday. As is tradition, children in attendance are invited to race their bikes on the track following heat race competition. Those competing in the races must wear a helmet. If you're looking for a delicious pre-race meal, make sure to stop by the Pizza Factory of Placerville, Pleasant Valley, Pollock Pines, Cameron Park, Auburn, Colfax, Rocklin or Ione to support this Saturday's presenting sponsor. Outstanding and piping hot pizza, lasagna, freshly made salads and much more are offered at the Pizza Factory. "This is always a tremendous show for the families to come out and enjoy a night of racing at," commented track Promoter Scott Russell. "Kids Bike Night has been one of the long-standing events here and we're happy to allow those 11 and under into the races for free on Saturday. When it comes to the future of our sport the younger generation is extremely important, so we hope everyone can bring their kids and maybe even some of their friends this weekend." This Saturday is also our way to remember former track Promoter John Padjen, who passed away in December of 2021. It was Padjen's idea that brought about Kids Bike Night, which continues to be a mainstay at both Placerville Speedway and Chico's Silver Dollar Speedway to this day. "John always had Kids Bike Night at West Capital Raceway, so he decided to bring that over to Placerville and Chico when he started running both venues," said past Placerville Speedway Promoter Alan Padjen. "The bike nights have always been a hit with the families. It's great that Placerville Speedway continues that tradition and it's a perfect event to remember my dad at." In the early 1980's, John Padjen came aboard Placerville Speedway to help rescue the community icon that was beginning to struggle in the way of management efforts. Already a successful motorsports promoter in Sacramento, Dixon and Chico, Padjen moved in and helped mold the foothill race facility into the successful, competitive track it is today. Padjen established a consistent Saturday night program to improve safety and visibility for both drivers and fans. Tackling the high banked quarter mile this Saturday will be the Thompson's Family of Dealerships Winged 360 Sprint Cars, the Mountain Democrat Ltd. Late Models, the Red Hawk Casino Pure Stocks and Mountain Democrat Mini Trucks. Auburn's Andy Forsberg, Lincoln's Dan Brown Jr., Oakley's Nick Baldwin and Placerville's Mike Miller sit atop the Sprint Car, Late Model, Pure Stock and Mini Truck standings respectively. - Antioch Speedway caps busy stretch for SCCT this Saturday
Antioch, CA…The Contra Costa County Fairgrounds based Antioch Speedway will be the destination for the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour this Saturday night. The June 15th event at the "Action Track by the Delta" marks the sixth race of the season for the Sprint Car Challenge Tour and its only Antioch appearance in 2024. It's also the final outing for the SCCT 360s prior to getting ready for Western Speedweek in mid-July. "We look forward to bringing the Sprint Car Challenge Tour back to Antioch Speedway on Saturday," commented SCCT President Scott Russell. "They've done a fantastic job giving the place a total facelift in recent years and it should be a great night of racing this weekend." So far this season it has been all about Justin Sanders and car owner Dale Miller, who have captured all five races up to this point. With commitments up North however, Sanders will not be in action, which opens the door for a new winner on Saturday. El Cajon youngster Braden Chiaramonte will be the de facto point leader heading into Antioch Speedway. The driver of the Tiner-Hirst Ent. No. 94TH has put together some impressive moments this year and now looks to add a SCCT victory to his resume. Reigning Placerville Speedway champion Michael Faccinto is another top-five point driver that will look for a big win at Antioch Speedway on Saturday. The Hanford driver sits just four markers behind Chiaramonte in the SCCT standings. Veterans Andy Forsberg of Auburn and Sean Becker from Roseville are sure to be contenders at Antioch Speedway as well. Both competitors finished among the top-five last Saturday in Petaluma and now have their eyes on the trophy this weekend. Additional possibilities on Saturday include Livermore's Travis Labat, Clayton's Joey Ancona, Dunnigan's Luke Hayes, Sacramento's Austin Wood, Cotati's Jake Haulot and more. - BRADEN CHIARAMONTE WAS SPRINT CAR CHALLENGE TOUR HARD CHARGER AT PLACERVILLE
(El Cajon, CA, June 5, 2024) One of the sure things in West Coast Sprint Car racing is the fact that teenage sensation Braden Chiaramonte is not afraid to pass cars. Last Friday, at the Dave Bradway Jr Memorial opening night at the Placerville Speedway, the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour rookie demonstrated that by passing more cars in the main event than any other driver. Stuck back in 21st to start the 35-lap main, he raced under the checkered flag in 13th place. This Saturday night, he makes his first appearance at the Petaluma Speedway when the SCCT visits town. A stout 40-car field converged on the famous high-banked red clay quarter-mile oval for round five of the 2024 SCCT season. For El Cajon, California-based Chiaramonte, the series rookie point leader, who was wheeling the Tiner/Hirst Slade Precision Shocks/Larry Davis Farms/System 1 Pro Ignition #94TH, it was his second showing at the track this year. The first appearance came three weeks earlier when he placed second in the regular Placerville 360 main event. That finish came just 24 hours after a third-place finish at another iconic California track, the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. Chiaramonte qualified with 19 other cars in group A. His best lap, an 11.142, was 13th in the group and 25th fastest of the 40 winged cars on hand. That placed him on the inside of the fourth row of the first 10-lap heat race on the freshly watered track. He needed to place in the top five to earn a ticket directly to the A main. However, passing was at a premium at that time of the night. Only four cars, including Chiaramonte, advanced their position in the race, and all of them only moved up one spot. His sixth place finish left him one position shy of going straight into the main. Starting third in the B main, Chiaramonte initially was running fourth. Staying dedicated to the high side of the 59-year-old track, he started flying on lap four and began picking off cars. Eventually getting up to second, he was dramatically closing on the leader who had a full straightaway advantage at one point. Coming off turn four with two laps to go, a lapped car spun to a stop directly in front of the young driver. With cat-like reflexes, Chiaramonte hit the brakes and steered to the inside. His car gained traction, the front wheels shot into the air, and he wheelied past the stopped car in spectacular fashion. With three laps to go, Chiaramonte restarted the B main in second. Going into turn three, he used a textbook slide job to take the lead and impressively led the final three laps, earning himself a ticket into the A main. To say Chiaramonte was starting deep in the main event field was an understatement. He was on the inside of the next to last row for the 35-lapper! Early on, he momentarily slipped back to 23rd. The young driver skillfully avoided the chaos that saw yellow and red flags in the main and methodically moved his way forward. By races end, his impressive performance saw him go all the way forward to 13th. While he officially passed eight cars as the PitStopUSA.com Hard Charger, being back to 23rd at one point means he raced past 10 other cars. The finish kept Chiaramonte in the sixth position in the SCCT championship chase heading into this week's race at the Petaluma. Keeping up with the team's crazy schedule, Chiaramonte hopped on a flight home to El Cajon early Saturday morning. As soon as he got home, the team jumped into the rig with the family-owned #73B and drove 195 miles to the Ultimate Sprint Car Race presented by Inland Rigging at the Ventura Raceway. Unfortunately, the long trek to Ventura did not have a happy ending. After starting and finishing third in his heat, Chiaramonte started 10th in the main event. However, entering the first corner on lap two, something broke, and he went hard into the crash wall. While the young driver was uninjured, the car sustained substantial damage, and he was out for the night. Fans who wish to see Chiaramonte in action at Petaluma on Saturday can find the track on the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds at 100 Fairgrounds Drive in Petaluma. Spectator gates open at 4:00 PM. Practice will be at 5:00, and the first race will take the green flag at 7:00. Adult tickets are $25. For seniors 65 and over and the military, it is $22.00. Juniors 12-15 and kids 6-11 are $10.00. Children 5 and under are free. Chiaramonte flew to North Carolina two weeks ago to drive for his cousin, 2020 NASCAR Truck Champion and current Xfinity Series driver Sheldon Creed, at the famous Millbridge Speedway. Shoeing Creed's 600 Micro for only his second time at the track, he qualified second quickest in his group on Monday. He went from fourth to second in his heat before getting clobbered and having the injection knocked off the car. Despite that, he still finished fourth. In the night's main, he started and finished 16th. Twenty-four hours later, at Millbridge, Chiaramonte qualified 4th in Group B. He started on the outside of the front row for his heat race and picked up the checkered flag for the victory. In that night's main event, he started third. At one point in the race, he drove up to the second-place. In the end, he ended up fifth. His performances on the two nights drew a lot of attention from other drivers, fans in attendance and thousands of others worldwide watching live on DirtVision. Chiaramonte would like to thank all his sponsors who have made his racing efforts possible. RTL Traffic Control, AM Ortega, OCC Motorsports, Hyper Racing, Chop Design, Adams Motors, Hacienda Casa Blanca Fine Mexican Dining, Evil Plus Injection, King Racing Products, Tiner/Hirst, and Keizer Wheels. - FASTEST FIVE DAYS IN MOTORSPORTS AWAITS NARC 410 SPRINT CARS IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST
(6/6/24 - Ben Deatherage) ... The wait is almost over as the 900+ horsepower open wheel racing machines of the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series journey north for the Fastest Five Days in Motorsports! During a quick 120-hour span, the series will feature five races at five different racetracks across Oregon and Washington in five nights. For many of the tracks, it is their only 410 cubic inch sprint car race of the year. The racing extravaganza will kick off on Wednesday, June 12th, at Southern Oregon Speedway before moving northward to the Douglas County Dirt Track in Roseburg on Thursday, the 13th. Friday, the 14th will see the newly added Cottage Grove Speedway as a part of the mix and will be the first 410 race at the historic ¼-mile clay oval since 2014. Willamette Speedway is back with their Saturday date on the 15th. All roads will come to a head at Elma, Washington's Grays Harbor Raceway, on Sunday, the 16th, for a Father's Day fireworks-spectacular special, the Timber Cup. "I think that the Oregon/Washington Speedweek is an awesome trip!" said current NARC standings leader Cole Macedo from Lemoore. "I know I had a lot of fun last year, and I'm super excited to run those tracks because they can get super slick and have some character." With six races down in the 65th anniversary season, there have been super exciting events coming down to the last few laps, and there's no doubt that this trend will continue. The Fastest Five Days in Motorsports started in 2019 as the Fastest Four Days in Motorsports in California. However, that all changed in 2022 when it was redirected to the Pacific Northwest. The 2023 edition was an uninterrupted string of events that led up to the Jim Raper Memorial Super Dirt Cup at Skagit Speedway. Support classes for the first four nights will be the Northwest Focus Midget Series. Saturday night, the Iron Head Sprint Series will join the card. Sunday's bout will feature IMCA Modifieds and PHRA Dwarf Cars. Each night will pay a stout $5000 to win and $600 to start the A-main. Another perk up for grabs is a $5000 point fund for the top eight teams in the Fastest Five Days in Motorsports points, courtesy of Roth Motorsports and Winters Performance. The overall champion will also receive a commemorative collectable trophy at the year-end championship awards banquet. Some extra money will be on the line Thursday night at the Douglas County Dirtrack. Shane DeWald Trucking is offering a $500 bonus for the fast timer, and Topp It Express will kick in another $500 in cash for the evening's hard charger. Championship Chase With five straight nights of action on tap, the King of the West championship title could very well be determined during the Fastest Five Days in Motorsports. Last year, eventual NARC champion Corey Day created a massive buffer over the rest of the competition that helped him lock up the title. Lemoore's Cole Macedo has stayed up in the first position in the championship standings for the entire 2024 campaign. Still, the Tarlton Motorsports #21 car enters the week with a slim two-point advantage. Even though last year was Macedo's first foray into several Pacific Northwest tracks, he managed to win the Willamette leg of the journey. He broke up Day's ability to sweep all four nights. So far, this team has had two NARC wins this season. "With the amount of racing that I've been running this year and seeing all these different tracks, I think I'll be in good shape," Macedo continued. "Drew Warner (crew chief) and the boys have been working hard, and I'm almost fully recovered from my rib injury early in the season, so our team is ready." As the 2024 season continues, Justin Sanders keeps getting faster and faster. The Mittry Motorsports #2X team has been excellent this year. They were outside the top five in points a few weeks ago. Now, they sit a close second after scoring a season-leading three victories. The Aromas pilot accomplished those three wins in the last four rounds, including the most recent event at Placerville. 2017 NARC champion Bud Kaeding goes into the FFDM with some of the most experience at many of the tracks including Southern Oregon, Cottage Grove, and Willamette Speedways. 2024 has treated the Campbell veteran well. The team has had a lot of consistent speed. They are fourth in the title fight and trail Macedo by thirty-one points. They managed to post a pair of top five runs, including a fourth at Antioch in May. Fifth in series points, Dylan Bloomfield, had an impressive run last year in his Northwest debut. The Oakley teenager, racing for the Vertullo Racing #83V, had some solid runs, including a fourth-place finish at Southern Oregon after setting a quick time. His best NARC run of the current season was a third at Antioch. Who To Watch In 2022, Dominic Scelzi emerged as the champion of what was then called the Faster Four Days in Motorsports. Coming off a third-place result at the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial, the Fresno driver has only one NARC triumph at the five tracks on the five-night swing. That came at Southern Oregon Speedway two years ago. In 2021 and 2022, he won the FFDM and NARC series championships. Justyn Cox will be among the plethora of drivers to watch when he and the Bates-Hamilton Racing #42X entry migrate north. The Roseville racer has spent much of his career racing and winning in the Pacific Northwest. He will be looking to score his second career NARC win during this string of events. Chase Johnson competed in Oregon and Washington last year for Josh Ford Motorsports, but this year, he will be using his own equipment. Not long after the 2023 Northwest swing, the Penngrove pilot returned to his winning ways after an incredibly emotional victory at his home track Petaluma Speedway. He's already notched a pair of Top 5s in 2024 with NARC, including a runner-up result at Chico's Mini Gold Cup. Reigning NARC rookie Nick Parker is ready for another run in the Pacific Northwest. The Vail, Arizona native, now residing in Chico, spent a lot of time adapting to many new facilities. Still, Parker is a quick learner, and once he's run somewhere, it takes little time for him to be really fast there. Billy Aton is no stranger to Oregon and Washington over the years. Making the haul from Benecia, Aton has shown promise in the current campaign and was a few laps away from winning the Salute to LeRoy Van Conett last month in Stockton. In 2023, Jarrett Soares went to Oregon for the first time to run some local winged and non-winged shows. The Gilroy gasser will be looking to capitalize on that knowledge. Tanner Carrick has been a phenomenal addition to the NARC 410 Sprint Series, putting up several top five finishes. This swing will be an extensive learning experience as the venues will be places the Lincoln native has had little to no exposure. Jessie Attard is excited to be back stateside to take on the best drivers on the west coast. The Landilo, New South Welshman, will represent his home nation of Australia. Last year, he had an impressive tenth-place result at Southern Oregon. Other drivers scheduled to make the trip are Ashton Torgerson from Glendale, Arizona, Sacramento's Angelique Bell, and more! Rookie Race The NARC Rookie of the Year race is also a tight-knit battle between some promising young stars. Caeden Steele has been impressive during the current NARC campaign, posting a pair of podium finishes. The only track of the five which he has seen live is Grays Harbor Raceway, where he made one start last July. The Easton teenager enters the FFDM with a four-marker advantage over the current runner-up. From Lemoore, Gauge Garcia has gotten into a good groove in the last few events with the NARC 410 Sprint Series. Bouncing back from a hard crash at Antioch in May, the Keller Motorsport team had a phenomenal run at the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial on June 1st, leading many laps and posting a second-place finish. Not to be forgotten is Dominic Gorden of Clovis. What's unique about this young man is that even though he's never raced at 410 at any of the upcoming tracks, he did a lot of racing at Elma, Cottage Grove, Roseburg, and Southern Oregon last July and August. There's no doubt some of the successes that he's had at those venues will translate over to the 410 as he enters the week third in the rookie race. Northwest Home Stand Jacksonville, Oregon's Tanner Holmes is excited to defend his home turf. After spending the late winter and early spring chasing the High Limit and World of Outlaws groups, the YouTube sensation returned west to compete with NARC during the last few weeks. Finishing second at Skagit Speedway on June 1st, Holmes managed to win at four tracks on the FFDM schedule in local competition and was third at last year's Timber Cup. Many regard Puyallup, Washington's Trey Starks as the Pacific Northwest man to beat. Second at last year's Timber Cup and the winner of the 2022 edition, Starks is phenomenal in the Northwest and is the two-time defending champion Skagit Speedway 410 champion. In fact, he's already hit pay dirt three times at the 3/10-mile clay oval that will host the Jim Raper Memorial Super Dirt Cup. Canadian Robbie Price is expected to make the entire swing racing for Rob and Lee Leighton. Currently second in Skagit Speedway points, the Cobble Hill, British Columbia driver spent all of 2023 competing full-time with the World of Outlaws racing for Sides Motorsports and has spent lots of time running at places such as Grays Harbor and Cottage Grove. Tyler Thompson is not to be discounted in his native Oregon. Thompson has traveled throughout Oregon, California, and Montana already this year and will look to defend his home track, Cottage Grove Speedway, where he's the three-time defending track champion. The Harrisburg racer has posted wins at Elma and Grove in local competitions while has come close to being triumphant at Rosburg and Willamette. - BRADEN CHIARAMONTE COMES FROM THE BACK TO FINISH 12TH IN WILD MARYSVILLE MAIN
(El Cajon, CA, May 29) After coming from the back two times, Braden Chiaramonte raced under the checkered flag in 12th place in the Mel and Marlyn Hall Memorial last Saturday at the Marysville Raceway. The teen's persistence paid dividends as he now ranks sixth in points heading into round four of the Elk Grove Sprint Car Challenge Tour's 2024 season at the Placerville Speedway this Friday. A stout field of 39 winged 360 sprint cars showed up at the popular quarter-mile track that is located 120 miles north of San Francisco and 120 miles west of Reno. The field was split into two groups by a pill draw for qualifying and the heat races. Chiaramonte drew into the second group of 19 cars and toured the track in 12.904. That was seventh fastest in his group and 13th best of the 39 on hand. In his 10-lap heat, the El Cajon, California racer started and finished in third. That left him one spot shy of the dash, but it guaranteed him a direct ticket into the 35-lap main event. Chiaramonte started in the 12th position for the feature that turned into a nearly one-hour marathon. The first attempt to start the race got as far as turn one before a car slid to a stop. Fortunately, the entire field missed the expensive obstacle. The second try to get the feature started only got about 35 feet farther than the first effort. This time a massive tangle saw numerous cars get involved. One of them was Chiaramonte. Chiaramonte was towed back to the pits, where the Tiner/Hirst crew quickly poured over the car. They replaced two broken shocks, bird cages, radius rods, torsion arms, and a torsion bar. They got the job done quickly, but the green flag flew before they could get pushed back onto the track. However, the race only got one lap in before the action was slowed due to another faux paw on the track. Amazingly, the #94TH was pushed back onto the racing surface for the restart and was only one lap down. Chiaramonte restarted at the back. As was the case for much of this race, only one more lap was completed. On lap 4, three cars tangled in front of Chiaramonte. With nowhere to go, he slid into the mess. Fortunately, his contact was minimal, and he was able to restart once again. The Night of Destruction like conditions continued on through the remainder of the race, but Chiaramonte was able to steer clear of the chaos. By lap 11, he was up to 16th. Four laps later, he was another spot higher in the race standings. He was still 15th, ten laps later, when officials feared cars were going to run out of fuel due to all the yellow flag laps. So, they threw a red flag, allowing all teams to add fuel to make it to the end of the race. Once the green flag flew again, Chiaramonte moved up to 14th on lap 27. He stayed there until the final circuit when he steered the Tiner/Hirst Slade Precision Shocks/Larry Davis Farms/System 1 Pro Ignition #94TH past one more car to finish 13th. Make that a hard-fought for, well earned 13th for the talented driver and the top-notch crew. This Friday night's race at the Placerville Speedway will be the lid lifter for the Dave Bradway Memorial. Chiaramonte has been to Placerville one time this year. That was on May 11th when he finished second in the Placerville 360 main event. Friday's show will be Adrian Blanco Jewelry Night. The main winner will collect prize money, valuable SCCT points, and a custom watch certificate from Adrian Blanco Jewelers. The spectator gate at the famous banked red clay oval will open at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Adult tickets are $25.00. Seniors 62+, military, and Juniors 12-17 will get in for $22.00. Tickets for kids six to twelve are only $10, and children 5 and under are free. Tickets are available online at https://www.eventsprout.com/event/psr-053124 and at the ticket window on Friday. The Placerville Speedway is located on the beautiful El Dorado County Fairgrounds in Placerville, California. Take Hwy US-50 to Forni Road/Placerville Drive exit. Then go north on Placerville Drive to the Fairgrounds. The physical address is 100 Placerville Dr., Placerville, CA 95667. - NARC 410 Sprint Cars charge into Placerville for only visit of year
Placerville, CA...The thunderous roar of the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series will once again fill the air at Placerville Speedway on Saturday, June 1st for the 33rd Annual Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial race. This marks the only appearance of the season of the NARC sprint cars at the high-banked quarter-mile oval as they battle it out for the $5,500 to win prize. With five races in the books already for the series' 65th anniversary season, there has been some incredible action, a tight points race, and an incredibly tough contingent of drivers populating the pit area. The Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial not only features a lucrative payday but also pays tribute to an incredible driver, Dave Bradway Jr. who tragically passed away in a racing accident in June of 1987 at Skagit Speedway. The event, initially held at Silver Dollar Speedway from its inception in 1991 until it was relocated to Placerville in 2021. Among the "locals" who experienced a great finish in the 2023 Bradway race was Hanford driver Michael Faccinto, who drives the Friends and Family #X1 sprint car. "Last year was their second 410 race ever, and to be able to put a good night together with NARC that night was pretty special," explained Faccinto, referring to his second-place finish with car owners Alan Bradway and Steve "Tooch" Tuccelli. "Tooch and Alan put a lot into the race and it's very important to them. Hopefully we can be one spot better this year." Several additional prizes are up for grabs, including $5,200 in additional lap money, and a $5500 payday to the winner of the 40-lap main event. Other awards include $1,000 to the leader of lap three of the main event, $1000 to the driver that pulls the number 3 pill during the dash redraw, $700 for the Carwash Mike Avila Quick Time, $550 for the Hardcharger award, $300 to win each heat race, $300 for the third quickest qualifier, and many more. The Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial weekend starts with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour 360 sprint cars on Friday night. The NorCal Dwarf Cars will be the companion division on both nights. Championship Chase Cole Macedo continues to reign atop the current NARC 410 Sprint Car Series point battle. He will enter the Bradway with a 14-point advantage. The Lemoore chauffeur won the season's first two rounds and has yet to have the Tarlton Motorsports #21 finish outside the top five in main event action. Macedo has one career NARC start at Placerville. Currently second in points, Justin Sanders of Aromas has Macedo in his sight. He will try to further slim down the points difference as the Mittry Motorsports #2X team has been in top form recently, including winning two of the last three features. In seven NARC starts at Placerville, Sanders managed to win twice, in 2018 and 2019. Also, in 2019, he was the victor of the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial. Shane Golobic enters the weekend third in the standings and is the only driver with a single win with NARC in 2024 to his credit. The Fremont pilot is no stranger to success at Placerville as he has an incredible track record with NARC, including a victory in 2016 and 17 top tens in 18 starts at the track. The Matt Wood Racing #17W entry was third in last year's race. Roseville's Sean Becker is coming off a sensational runner-up result in the most recent NARC race and is currently fourth in the table of the championship standings. The 2005 NARC champion won the Bradway in 2006 and is seeking his first series win since 2021. Twice a winner when the tour came to town, achieved in 2004 and 2014, he also posted 15 top ten finishes in nineteen starts. 2017 NARC champion Bud Kaeding completes the top five in points, in fifth. The Campbell chauffeur has collected three finishes in the top five in the first five starts of the 2024 season. Winning twice in NARC competition in 2016 at Placerville, Kaeding has accrued 20 top ten finishes in 22 starts since. He was fifth at last year's Bradway Memorial. Who to Watch Colby Copeland enters the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial as the defending winner. The Roseville racer captured an emotional victory for car owners Jim and Annette Van Lare after Jim's father had recently passed away. Copeland may not race a full schedule, but he is always a threat to win whenever he's in the starting lineup. Tanner Carrick had some impressive results at Placerville when NARC visited. Finishing fourth last year and the runner-up in 2022, the Lincoln driver has been so close to breaking through for his first career NARC win. Could this year be the year he finally wins at the Bradway? Andy Forsberg is one of the drivers with the most laps at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds facility, and he has nine track titles to his credit. Hailing from Auburn, Forsberg is coming off a solid fifth place running at Stockton and is looking for his first career Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial victory. Roseville's Justyn Cox will search for the big check on Saturday night. He's qualified for five career NARC features at Placerville, with a fourth-place result in 2016. Last year, the Bates-Hamilton Racing #42X entry, driven by Cox, was eighth at the Bradway Memorial. Other regulars of the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series that will be in action include Chase Johnson of Penngrove, Benicia's Billy Aton, Dylan Bloomfield from Oakley, Gilroy gasser Jarrett Soares, current rookie of the year point leader Caeden Steele of Easton, Clovis' Dominic Gorden, Gauge Garcia from Lemoore, Wilton's Ashlyn Rodriguez, and Chico drivers Nick Parker and Michael Ing. - SCCT jump starts Bradway weekend with initial Placerville visit of the year Friday
Placerville, CA…Friday night lights are coming to Placerville Speedway this week, as the Sprint Car Challenge Tour opens the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial with its first appearance of the season on the red clay. The event this Friday May 31st marks round four of the Elk Grove Ford SCCT season and launches the prestigious Bradway weekend, with the NARC 410 Sprint Cars invading Placerville the following night. Live Music will entertain the crowd from 4-6pm, with Coors Light Happy Hour occurring until 6 each night. The official jeweler of Placerville Speedway, Adrian Blanco, also returns in 2024. This Friday's show will be designated as Adrian Blanco Jewelry Night, who will present the SCCT winner with a custom watch certificate. Both nights also showcase the Nor-Cal Dwarf Car Association. The "Bradway" originally began at Silver Dollar Speedway in 1992 to honor the late Dave Bradway Jr., who lost his life in a Sprint Car crash at Skagit Speedway's Dirt Cup in 1987. Bradway was a driver destined for stardom in Sprint Car racing and the event held in his memory has become a cornerstone for Northern California. "We are excited about this weekend's Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial at Placerville Speedway," commented track Promoter Scott Russell. - BRADEN CHIARAMONTE GETS THIRD PODIUM FINISH IN EIGHT DAYS
(El Cajon, CA, May 23) Rising teenage star Braden Chiaramonte scored a podium finish in the Tiner/Hirst-owned 94TH sprint car for the third time in eight days. His latest effort came when he placed second last Saturday night at the Marysville Raceway. The finish went along with his third-place result at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico on May 10th and a second-place finish at Placerville on the 11th. Chiaramonte will return to Marysville this Saturday with the Elk Grove Ford Sprint Car Challenge Tour in the Mel and Marlyn Hall Memorial. The most amazing aspect of Chiaramonte's accomplishment from last week is that he had never seen the Marysville oval before. Yet, he performed flawlessly all night, from hot laps through the main event. The second-place finish sounds amazing, but it could have been more. The friendly young driver actually took the lead away on lap 20 of the main event. However, a yellow flag seconds after he took the lead reverted the lineup to the previous completed lap. Fans began to sit up and take notice of Chiaramonte in qualifying. Even though he was pitted against 24 track regulars, he still qualified third fastest with a sizzling lap of 12.637 in the Slade Precision Shocks/Larry Davis Farms/System 1 Pro Ignition sponsored car. He backed that impressive performance up with a very exciting win in the third eight-lap heat race. After a slider fest with another car at the outset, the new kid on the block led all eight laps and raced across the line a half straightaway ahead of his closest pursuer. In addition to winning the heat, he also posted the fastest lap in the race at 13.325. The newcomer to the track gave the regulars more to worry about when he pulled a two in the redraw for the 25-lap finale. When the A main started, Chiaramonte was second to turn one on the start. The determined teen challenged the cushion lap after lap. When lapped traffic came into play on the 11th circuit, he tried to pass the leader on the inside coming off turn four. However, the surface was definitely "Cowboy Up" on the bottom, making it hard to pass. Undeterred, Chiaramonte was relentless in his pursuit of the leader. Building up momentum on the wide line, he chased down his foe and inched ahead when that yellow waved as the pack roared into turn one on lap 20. That meant the field was reset to the last completed lap. Thus, Chiaramonte moved back to second. Once the race restarted, the El Cajon, California teen kept the heat on until the checkered flag. In the end, he was forced to settle for second. The impressive second-place finish endeared the newcomer to the crowd. He was spectacular on the outside and may have well won the race if not for the late-race yellow. Lap eight was Chiaramonte's best circuit around the track in the main at 13.325. It was the second-fastest lap in the race, and identical to his best time in his heat race. Going into this week's SCCT show at Marysville, Chiaramonte is 13th in series points and is only 20 points out of fifth. The race will mark the beginning of four straight weeks of SCCT racing for the young driver and the remainder of the series regulars. On Friday, May 31st, it will be on to the Placerville Speedway, where Chiaramonte finished second two weeks ago in a non-SCCT race. A week later, on June 8th, he will be at the Petaluma Speedway before heading to Antioch Speedway on June 15th. Adult tickets at Marysville Raceway on Saturday are $24.00. Juniors 12-15, seniors 62+, and military are $20. Kids 6-11 cost $10.00, and those five and under will be free. Tickets can be purchased at the gate or via https://www.eventsprout.com/event/marysville-raceway-2024. The front gate will open at 5:00 p.m. Cars hit the track at 5:30, with hot laps, Sierra Foothills Wine Services qualifying, and racing to follow. - BRADEN CHIARAMONTE RECORDS HIS BEST 360 WINGED FINISH FOR THE SECOND TIME IN 24 HOURS
(El Cajon, CA, May 15) Last Friday night at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California, Braden Chiaramonte notched a third-place finish in the 25-lap main event. It was his best-ever result in a winged 360 race. Twenty-four hours later at the Placerville Speedway, he went one step better when he placed second in the winged 360, 25-lap main event. Thirty-two cars showed up for the "Mother's Day Madness" race on the famous ¼ mile, red clay Placerville Speedway. As usual, Chiaramonte was on his game from the start. In qualifying, he recorded a sizzling lap of 11.113 in the Tiner/Hirst-owned Slade Precision Shocks/Larry Davis Farms/System 1 Pro Ignition #94TH. That was good enough for the second fastest time in the 16-car group "B." Being the fastest in group "B" meant the El Cajon, California driver, would start fourth in the fourth, eight-car, eight-lap heat race. Once the green flag dropped, "Spare Change" was part of an exciting first lap. He initially slipped back to fourth. Going into turn three, the third-place car parked on the low line. That opened up a huge window for Chiaramonte to race around the outside. As he started to go past, the slowing car got clobbered by another driver attempting to slice his way through on the inside. That collision shot the car Chiaramonte was trying to pass straight up the track and nearly into him. Fortunately, Chiaramonte got the #94TH slowed down and only had minimal contact. Chiaramonte's quick reflexes prevented what could have been a disaster. With that behind him, he got right back to work. By the time the first lap ended, he was up to fourth. Down the back chute on lap two, he picked off another car and was up to third. Even though he was third, he was far behind the two first-place cars. They had established a huge advantage over the rest of the field due to the first-lap chaos. With only six laps to go on the small track, Chiaramonte did not have time to catch the lead duo and finished third. That was good enough to directly transfer him into the main event. After a B main that looked like a bad horror flick, the A main went relatively smoothly. Chiaramonte started the 25-lap finale inside the second row in third. At the end of the first circuit, he was fourth. A picture-perfect slider in turn four on the second lap saw him advance to third. He quickly pulled away from that car and set his aim on the driver in second. Chiaramonte remained third until the 18th lap when he threw another immaculate slider in turn 4 to move up to second. He pulled that move off just in time as seconds later, a car slid to a stop in turn four. That brought out a yellow flag. The good news was, the caution allowed Chiaramonte to move directly to the leader's rear for the restart. The bad news was that the leader was Andy Forsberg. The 47-year-old has nine Placerville track championships and was seeking his 70th win on the track. Once the race resumed, Chiaramonte attempted to stay close to the Placerville legend. They pulled away from the remainder of the field. Forsberg eventually moved away from his teen pursuer. With four laps remaining, the wily veteran had a 1.666 lead, but Chiaramonte started coming on. He was closing in fast on the race-long leader but ran out of laps. When the checkered flag waved, he had cut the leader's advantage down to 0.622. "This track has not had my luck for sure," Chiaramonte told the appreciative crowd after the exciting race. "I have went off one (turn one) too many times. Just to come here and have speed all night and finish top three feels really good. I started getting better in three and four and started to catch him a little bit but just ran out of laps. We were really good. Thank you to Kyle, Steven, Tom, and everyone for helping me, working on this car, and getting me where I am. Kyle is a really good coach and Steven is really good on the wrenches. So, I just have to do my job." For the second night in a row, Chiaramonte received praise from the winner after the race ended. "You can barely beat the Tiner/Hirst cars," Forsberg announced to the fans at the end of the night. "This kid has raced like 10 times (winged 360s) and I have driven for 100 years and I can barely beat him. These kart kids and micro kids jump into sprint cars and they are so fast right away." For the next two weeks, Chiaramonte will be visiting a track that will be new to him. It is the Marysville Speedway which is located in Northeast California. This week he will be contesting a 360 winged race to get in some laps for next week's Sprint Car Challenge Tour show. Advance tickets are available at https://www.eventsprout.com/event/marysville-raceway-2024. Adult tickets are $17.00. For seniors 62+, military (with id) and juniors (12-15) it is $15.00. For kids 6-11 it is $5.00 and children 5 and under are free. Family tickets for two adults, 2 Juniors or three kids are $50.00.The track is located at 1468 Simpson Lane in Marysville, CA. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 PM with racing at 7:00. Chiaramonte will finish the month of May on Friday the 31st when the Sprint Car Challenge Tour visits Placerville. - BRADEN CHIARAMONTE RECORDS HIS BEST 360 WINGED RESULT AT SILVER DOLLAR SPEEDWAY
(El Cajon, CA, May 13) Teenage racing star Braden Chiaramonte scored his best finish in a 360-winged sprint car when he raced past the checkered flag third in the main event last Friday at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California. The impressive young driver led 21 of the 25 laps in the crowd-pleasing race. Chiaramonte was only making his fifth appearance, and the first since last August, at the famous track that is 600 miles north of his El Cajon, California home. However, driving the Tiner/Hirst-owned Slade Precision Shocks/Larry Davis Farms/System 1 Pro Ignition #94TH, he looked like a veteran who has spent decades on the ¼ mile oval. The field was split into two groups of 22 cars each for qualifying. Chiaramonte found himself in the first group and he stopped the clocks at 11.954. That was fourth best in his group and seventh best of the 44 cars on hand. The time landed the talented young driver the pole position for the second eight-lap heat race. When the green opened the preliminary, he flew into the lead, never looked back, and scored a convincing win. Chiaramonte's prowess in qualifying and his heat garnered the third starting spot for the A main. The confident young driver did not stay third for long. He flew by the second-place car near the end of the first circuit and then went to the top of the track to stalk the leader. Like his tenure in third, his time in second place was short-lived. In turn two on the third go around, the leader flipped and brought out a red flag. That handed the lead to Chiaramonte. When the race resumed, he flexed his muscles at the front. He immediately began to pull away from the remainder of the field. By the end of lap six, he had extended his advantage to nearly a half straightaway. Just past the halfway point, Chiaramonte was enjoying a comfortable lead. However, it got uncomfortable in turn four on lap 16. As he was about to lap the car at the back of the pack, the car spun in front of him. Fortunately, Chiaramonte in all of the cars chasing him steered around the spinner. Unfortunately, that meant when the race resumed the good-sized lead "Spare Change" had built up, went by the wayside. This time when the race restarted, the competition turned up the heat on the young driver. Nevertheless, Chiaramonte fended off their advances and maintained his lofty position at the front of the pack. He held the top spot until turn four on the next to last lap when veteran Shane Golobic slid him for the lead. Chiaramonte was still second going into turn three on the last lap when he was clobbered by another car coming up the inside. That pushed him back to third at the finish. "It is still good, but we almost had that (the win)," Chiaramonte told longtime announcer Chad Hennig after the race. "It is only, I don't know, my eighth winged sprint car race. To be up here is really good. Just a couple of mistakes cost me the win. But will learn from those and come back even better. I am looking forward and keeping my head up. Just learn from my mistakes and hopefully, we will be two spots better." "Big thank you to Steven Tiner and Kyle Hirst and everyone who helps on this car," Chiaramonte continued. "A.M. Ortega, my mom and dad, my grandpa and everyone else. Without them, this would not be possible." After the race, gracious winner Golobic praised Chiaramonte. "That 94TH has been fast," hats off to those guys Golobic said. "Those guys are ripping. It says something for a young kid like Braden Chiaramonte. He is a young racer who does not have a lot of laps on this track. To be able to hop in and run that curb on that big rough top like that is really a good job." Details of his second night of racing last weekend (at the Placerville Speedway) will be coming in the next day. For the next two weeks, Chiaramonte will be visiting a track that will be new to him. It is the Marysville Speedway which is located in Northeast California. This week he will be contesting a 360 winged race to get in some laps for next week's Sprint Car Challenge Tour race. - TULARE & STOCKTON DOUBLEHEADER WEEKEND ON TAP FOR NARC SPRINT CARS
(5/13/24 - Ben Deatherage) Sacramento, CA ... The wait for an entire weekend of NARC 410 Sprint Car Series racing is almost over, as the 900+ horsepower behemoths of the tour are in action not once but twice, this Saturday and Sunday! First, Thunderbowl Raceway will be the first stop on Saturday, May 18th, for KRC Safety Night. But wait, there is more! The Stockton Dirt Track will visit the reconfigured ¼-mile track for a Sunday Twilight Show spectacular for the rescheduled Salute to LeRoy Van Conett. Among them will be Easton, CA driver Caeden Steele, the current leader in the race for the NARC Rookie of the Year award. He sits ninth in the standings. "I'm excited to get back to 410 racing, especially Tulare," said Steele. "I have a lot of laps there, and that's one of my favorite tracks because it really fits my driving style. The season has been pretty great so far. We've been lucky enough to avoid some of the wrecks, so we'll see if we can continue that." The journey to the famed 1/3-mile clay oval in Tulare marks the fourth event of the 65th Anniversary season for the NARC 410 Sprint Car Series, followed by the Stockton Dirt Track show. The companion divisions for the Tulare are the Kings of Thunder 360 Sprints and West Coast Sport Compacts, while the Bay Cities Racing Association Midgets will be on the card on Sunday for Stockton. Sunday's race will honor the living legend LeRoy Van Conett, one of the all-time great drivers to come out of California. The "Dragon from Galt" scored eight NARC titles (1969, 1970, 1975, 1977, 1978, 1980, 1981, and 1984) and won the track title at Calistoga Speedway on seven occasions. He was the 1976 Gold Cup Race of Champions winner at the defunct West Capital Raceway. He was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 1999. The Van Conett race was established in 2016, and Shane Golobic and D.J. Netto are tied for the most wins at this event, with two apiece. Championship Chase With three completed rounds in the 2024 schedule, the march for the King of the West championship is still in the early stages. Cole Macedo enters the weekend as the series point leader. He is a tough customer to beat on the track and has yet to finish outside the top five this season. The Lemoore racer, piloting the Tarlton Motorsports #21 entry, already has won two of three events in 2024 and is coming off of a fifth-place result at Antioch. Aromas driver Justin Sanders, the winner of last Saturday's show at Antioch, is only 11-points behind Macedo. Who to Watch Many Central Valley-based competitors will attend, several of which are competing for the Rookie Of The Year honors. Steele currently leads the chase as the BCCR Racing #121 entry has been incredible despite a limited number of 410 Sprint Car starts to his name. Gauge Garcia, from Lemoore, is looking to bounce back from a hard flip last weekend. The Keller Motorsports #2K team is also looking to try and build on their tenth-place finish in their most recent Stockton NARC outing. Dominic Gorden is looking to keep early-season gremlins behind him. The Clovis teenager had a season-best result last Saturday with his 12th-place effort. Mariah Ede made her NARC debut last weekend. She is one of the newest members of the massive pool of 410 talent from California and has an extremely bright future. The Fresno racer will be running both tracks for the first time in a 410 between the frame rails. Another local driver also making the journey is the aforementioned Netto, from Hanford, who is always a threat to win against the competition when he rolls into the pit area. The 2019 NARC champion has twice won with the series at Stockton, which happens to be the Van Conett Tribute and grabbed a victory at Tulare in 2015. Justin Sanders got a big win last weekend for the Mittry Motorsports #2X team at the Contra Costa County Clash. The Aromas racer didn't win; he dominated, leading all the laps of the feature, setting a quick time, and winning the dash. He will undoubtedly look to continue that positive momentum. Sanders was third in his last Tulare outing with NARC and has two Stockton wins. The previously referenced Golobic will looking to score his 16th career NARC victory. The Matt Wood Racing #17W entry has finished second in three shows so far. The Fremont racer will look to win his second career Tulare win with the series for the first time since 2018. His only two NARC wins at Stockton were during the Van Conett race. Other NARC 410 Series regulars in action will include 2017 champion Bud Kaeding of Campbell, Justyn Cox from Roseville, Oakley pilot Dylan Bloomfield, Billy Aton from Benicia, Penngrove's Chase Johnson, Chico pilots Nick Parker and Michael Ing, and Jarrett Soares of Gilroy. Other notable names expected will be two-time NARC champ Dominic Scelzi from Fresno, Lincoln's Tanner Carrick, and Ryan Bernal of Roseville. - AFTER A WEEK OFF, BRADEN CHIARAMONTE HEADS TO NORTHERN CALIFORNIA FOR TWO RACES THIS WEEK
(El Cajon, CA, May 8) After spending last weekend watching his older sibling Bronsen win the Weedle Industries Perfect 10 Challenge Desert Race in Johnson City, California, Braden Chiaramonte will strap into the Tiner/Hirst #94TH sprint car for two races this weekend. The rising open-wheel star will be at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico on Friday. Twenty-four hours later and 130 miles to the south, he will be at the Placerville Speedway on Saturday. On Saturday's trip, Chiarmonte will appear on the two famous Nor Cal ovals for the first time in 2024. In the past, he has made four appearances at Silver Dollar. All four were in a winged 360 and his best result came at the 2022 Fall Nationals when he placed 10th in the A main event. Likewise, he has made four appearances at Placerville. Three of those came in 2023. Two of the four were in the same Placerville 360 Winged Sprints that he will be competing with on Saturday. He also has an appearance there with the Sprint Car Challenge Tour and one came with the USAC National Midgets at the end of 2023. His best finish on the red clay came last August 5th when he placed 12th in the track 360s. Between the winged 360, non-wing 410 and his outlaw micro, Chiaramonte has been at nine races this season. He has started nine he has started eight of the main events. He has two wins, three top-five finishes, and five top-10s. The victories came at a combined 360/410 sprint car show at Imperial Valley Raceway on March 9th and an Outlaw Micro race at Arizona's Adobe Mountain Speedway on March 30th. The only main he did not start came on March 16th at the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA Series main at Perris Auto Speedway when a violent heat race crash ended his night early. This weekend's races will be Chiaramonte's third and fourth starts for Tiner/Hirst in 2024. His first appearance of the year in the Slade Precision Shocks/Larry Davis Farms/System 1 Pro Ignition #94TH came at the Stockton Dirt Track on April 6th. Running 10th in the main early on, two cars got together directly in front of the young racing star. Chiaramonte slid sideways to avoid them and ended up getting his right-side Nerf Bar bent into his right rear tire. A quick stop in the pit area saw the crew slap on a new right rear and send him back to the battlefield. He started at the rear and drove forward to a 14th-place when the race ended. His other appearance for Tiner/Hirst came three weeks ago at Merced. After an impressive heat race win and second-place finish in the dash, Chiaramonte was running second in the main event when he slid off the top of turn two. Like at Stockton, that forced him to restart at the back and he impressively drove up to 15th before the checkered flag ended the race. For fans who wish to see Chiaramonte race at Silver Dollar Speedway, this Friday is Fan Appreciation Night. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 p.m. Tickets for those 19 and over are $15.00. Admission is free for everyone 18 and younger. Advance tickets are available at https://silverdollar.ticketspice.com/may-10th-racing-2024. The track is located at 2357 Fair Street in Chico (95928). Tickets for those 19 and older are $15.00 on Saturday, The track website is and the office phone is 530-966-4030. At Placerville's Mother's Day Madness on Saturday, the gates will open at 3:00 p.m. Happy hour will be from 3:00 to 6:00. Cars will be on the track for hot laps at 5:15. Adult tickets are $18.00. - NARC NEWSLINE - MAY 4, 2024
NARC NEWSLINE - May 4, 2024, By Jim Allen … I'm sure we all agree when I say it's been a rough start to the 2024 season. Not just with the NARC schedule, but with just about every dirt track north of the grapevine in California. Mother Nature came bouncing out of her corner like a heavyweight champ with something to prove and pummeled motorsports into submission with wet weather. If the current trend continues, on a prorated basis, NARC would feature a whopping eight races in 2024. The worse thing about it is the weather has typically been perfect all week long, getting everybody excited, before bad weather rolls in on Friday and Saturdays. And not to leave the rest of the country out of the loop, the Outlaws and High Limit also know how to quickly find their rain gear. Because of the choppiness of the schedule, few in open wheel racing have been able to establish any real kind of "weekly" routine, making the natives restless and much of social media poison with the alleged expert opinions of the week. One driver and team that does have their act together this season is Cole Macedo and the Tarlton Motorsports team. Two-fer-two! They survived the unpredictable Battle Royale at Chico and mastered the newly remodeled Stockton Dirt Track before anybody else could. The Tarlton-team, with Drew Werner on the wrenches, is looking for their first NARC title since 2016. By the way, both NARC races had a "Road House" feel to them as only 10 of 24 starters finished at Chico, and 13 at Stockton. Silver Dollar Speedway was described as 1990's "old-school" rough, leaving aspiring drivers born in this century to struggle and figure it out. As luck would have it, Floracing capitalized on the Chico carnage for its ever-popular weekly crash highlight video … just from that one show. Man, that's an ego killer! But like clockwork, history always repeats itself. There's always a couple of events each year that look absolutely perfect on paper and then have you yelling at the steering wheel on the way home. The good news, those two are now behind us (fingers-crossed.) So with that, the NARC schedule has endured the the cancelation of the Dave Helm Memorial (3/9) and Peter Murphy Classic (4/13) in Hanford, the March Madness event at Merced (3/23), a postponement of the April 27th race at Stockton, and the postponement (yes, postponement) of today's Tulare's Chris & Brian Faria Memorial. So if you are keeping score, it's Mother Nature - 5, Cole Macedo and NARC - 2. Speaking of Stockton, everybody got their first glimpse on April 6th when the former 4/10's mile oval transitioned into a quarter-mile D-shaped bullring. As expected, the opinions were brutal despite the fact that it took a mad scramble to make the race happen in the first place. It also rained for two straight days leading up to the race and that didn't help the cause. It took a while to get the "new" Dirt Track raceable and the NARC heats didn't push off until 8:00 p.m. and the main at 11:13 p.m. (Our goal is to be done by 9:30 p.m.) Also in the pits was SCCT and they had their issues as well, including a longer than normal main event. When you added it all up, the NARC feature was called 27-laps complete at the stroke of midnight. For all of the conspiracy addicts out there, the drivers were informed by radio during the previous caution period that the scheduled 30-lapper was going to be considered complete at midnight no matter what happened. It "happened" with a multi-car crash and wasn't the way anybody wanted to end a chilly night. As Colt's Hall of Fame football coach Tony Dungy says in his book, "nothing good happens after midnight." Especially in Stockton! When all was said and done, the overall opinion of drivers and teams leaned more positive than negative and suggested improvements to make it even better. That's great news as promoter Tony Noceti is committed to the further evolution and improvement of the facility. After the show, he committed to building wider turns with more banking and a backstretch wall from turn two to four. Unfortunately, that turned out to be a ton of work and the weather didn't cooperate (try to act surprised) to allow those upgrades to be completed before our scheduled April 27th race. This postponed the event to a highly-anticipated Sunday Twilight Show on May 19th, the day after the NARC sprint cars invade Thunderbowl Raceway. (Twilight = Qualifying at 4:00 p.m.) That beats the tarnation out of another cancellation. We really need fans and teams to support this show as it could start a new trend and give race promoters another viable option. Other observers thought the Stockton postponement was the perfect opportunity for Peter Murphy to maneuver his April 13th rainout, better known as the Peter Murphy Classic, back into the schedule. However, Murphy already had a weekly show booked on that date. A few racing peeps wanted NARC to invade Kings Speedway which wasn't going to happen because the Central California locals barely have enough opportunities to race already. Not to mention, the PMC, an event filled with auctions, pageantry, and a pole shuffle, features a $50,000+ purse and needs avid fan support to support that obligation. When you figure in liability insurance, water, lights, marketing, track prep, security, garbage, officials and the like, the total expenses are closer to $70,000. And I'm being conservative. While many open wheel loyalists would attend a 7:00 a.m. Christmas morning sprint car show on short notice, the average fan which makes up 65% of any crowd would be home unwrapping gifts. In hindsight, the April 27th Kings crowd was average at best meaning a high-dollar PMC would have been a financial blood bath. It was the right call. With that being said, there is no official date for rescheduling the 10th anniversary of the PMC. Murphy has run the gauntlet to squeeze it in somewhere, but others barked back about conflicts. It appears that California promoters are battling for the same 1500 core fans. Let's hope we can figure this thing out. CALISTOGA SPEEDWAY: Some fans may have had unrealistic expectations that a race schedule would be released soon after the City of Calistoga and Napa County worked out their differences and finalized the sale of the fairgrounds. In reality that was just the starting point and best-case scenario, nobody will see a schedule until 2025. Tommy Hunt said way back in February that it would take his HMC Promotions team about six-months to promote and orchestrate the activities that surround the awesome two-day Louie Vermeil Classic weekend. Once racing is officially on the agenda, expectations will be at a Mount Everest-level as local politicians have the place under a microscope to make sure they made the right choice. That means an infield pit area packed with sprint cars, an overflowing grandstand, a Gold Cup type of feel, and race fans spending their money downtown. Otherwise, all of the pot-banging we did to get the historic half-mile reopened would have been for naught. All those who agree, say YAH! By the way, Tommy Hunt is undergoing serious health issues these days, and we wish him a speedy recovery. NARC NOTES: There are about 15 laps remaining to be sponsored for the June 1st Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial race in Placerville. Contact Karen Bradway-Tuccelli on Facebook if you are interested in sponsoring a lap in the 40-lap feature or 12-lap semi. … An entire nation gasped (on Floracing) when Ryan Robinson clipped the tractor tire coming out of turn two and flipped violently while leading at Silver Dollar Speedway at the Mini-Gold Cup NARC opener. While everybody, including wife Kylie, was attempting to comprehend what had just happened, Ryan had already managed to climb out of the Antaya Motorsports #16A and was stepping slowly to the pit area. His movements were purely instinctual as his eyes saw nothing but black after suffering his fifth racing-related concussion. Luckily, the safety crews caught up with him shortly thereafter. Ryan made an announcement a couple of days later that he is retiring from racing. You know it was a tough decision, but it was the right one. He knows that you can only scramble the eggs so many times. Never forget that this is a dangerous sport. … Willie Croft will be battling for the Skagit Speedway championship in Washington this year with "Rudeen" backing on his number 29 sprint car. He will be attempting to dethrone the defending champ, Trey Starks. … … Only six drivers have finished in the top ten in both races. Can you name them? How about … obviously Cole Macedo … Tanner Carrick, Bud Kaeding, Nick Parker, and rookies Gauge Garcia and Cadeen Steele. Carrick may be the most underrated driver in California with a sixth and third place finish in NARC competition, as well as two Ocean 360 wins to his credit. He is overdue to post his first NARC career victory. … Dominic Scelzi is back in California. He was planning to miss the first six NARC shows of the season while he was chasing races around the Midwest with the Outlaws and High Limit. As it turns out, he only missed two. He will be a "wild card" the rest of the season, attempting to steal victories as others chase the championship. … All, like in every single one of our events are on Floracing.com … David Castenada reports that work is underway at Santa Maria Speedway. After sitting dormant for a couple of years, the track needs serious love to make it race ready. Tony Pombo, who signed a lease-agreement for the place, is actively involved in the process. NARC invades Santa Maria on July 27th - right about the time temperatures hit 110 degrees in the Central Valley. … Justyn Cox cracked three ribs at the Chico opener. You know it was bad when he couldn't golf! ... … The new NARC 65th Anniversary Coloring Book is hot off the press. Thank you to Creative Finishes Plus and Andy & Candace Forsberg for sponsoring this project. Also, thanks to my wife Carol who did all of the artwork. We will pass them out to kids at upcoming events. … Which reminds me of a quick story from the last time we had a NARC coloring book in 2019. While handing them out to excited kids in Tulare, one impatient attractive woman (40ish) insisted on getting one for herself. I politely told her it's kids first, since we need to keep them engaged so their parents continue to bring them to the races. I said if there are any left, I would hook her up. A minute or two later, she impatiently works her way back in line and offers to flip up her shirt and show me the goods if I give her one. Excuse me, did I hear that right? Now I'm not going to say what actually happened at that point, but she walked away with crayons also. … THE ROAD TO THE DIRT CUP: It's hard to believe the Fastest Five Days in Motorsports are only about 40-days away. Based on phone calls, emails, and DM, there is going to be a large contingent of fans making this stellar road trip. It's going to be a parade going up Interstate 5. If you haven't locked down your tickets yet, each track's website is ready to serve them up. By the way, the five FFDM shows pay $5,000 to win and $600 to start the A. The Northwest Focus Midgets will be the support division for the first four events. They put on a great show. From the FFDM Father's Day finale at Grays Harbor Raceway, we continue North to the Jim Raper Memorial Super Dirt Cup. That group is busy putting together fan engagement activities for this showcase event. I'm spearheading the Super Dirt Cup Charity Golf Tournament on Wednesday, June 19th - the day BEFORE the three-days of racing kicks off. We are looking to accomplish two things … build on the "Club" in Northern Auto Racing Club by having an enjoyable day at the nearby Avalon Golf Links. And two, raise money for the NARC Benevolent Fund and the Rayce Rudeen Foundation. Please join us, no matter what your skill level. Off the record, this may become more of a drinking event than a birdie event. (#justsaying) Sign-ups are only $100 and that include golf, cart, box lunch, gift bag and a chance to claim a bunch of prizes and awards. Here is the only caveat: You have to sign-up and pay before June 5th. … We are also looking for hole sponsors. Call me! … Who is your pick to walk away with a $62,000 payday at this year's Super Dirt Cup? And the hot news of the moment ... We have rescheduled the Chris & Brian Faria Memorial for October 12th at Tulare, which is the weekend before the Trophy Cup. It is now part of a great show that also includes the Sprint Car Challenge Tour. It's shaping up to be a terrific October. With that, prepare to get busy because there are 13 NARC shows scheduled in the next 50 or so days. It's going to flash by in the blink of an eye so get your travel plans dialed in. Coming to you live from Auburn, CA! May the Fourth be with you. See ya!
- CRASH KNOCKS BRADEN CHIARAMONTE OUT OF USAC/CRA RACE AT PERRIS
(El Cajon, CA, May 1) Driving a brand new car, Braden Chiaramonte was working his way towards the front in the Avanti Windows and Doors USAC/CRA 30-lap main event last Saturday at Perris Auto Speedway. However, a tangle that involved some lapped cars gathered him in and knocked him out of the race with nine laps to go. Sadly, what could have been a top-five finish ended up being a 20th. After a practice session at the track the week before, Chiaramonte was debuting his new DRC Chassis along with a 410 engine obtained from Arizona native Sterling Cling who now does most of his racing in the Midwest. Of the 22 cars on hand on Saturday, Chiaramonte ended up 13th fastest in qualifying with a time of 17.031. That was his second-fastest lap in 2024 at the famous Riverside County half-mile clay oval. It was only surpassed by his 16.995 on March 16th. Chiaramonte, in his pretty #73B, started on the outside of the front row in the first 10 lap heat race. When the checkers ended the preliminary, he ended up fourth. That Kept him in contention for one of the invert spots to start in the first three rows of the main event. Unfortunately, after the second and third heat races, he was out of the invert and was forced to start the 30-lapper in 13th. In the main, like always, Chiaramonte was moving forward. He was picking off cars and confidently made his way into the top 10. At the halfway point, the talented young driver was up to eighth and seemed headed for the top five. However, coming off turn four on the 22nd circuit, he got caught up in someone else's mess and was done for the night with a 20th place finish. Despite other racing duties that saw the El Cajon, California resident miss the two USAC/CRA races in Arizona, Chiaramonte is still 21st in the championship standings and he is third in the Rookie of the Year chase. Chiaramonte is taking this weekend off to watch his older brother Bronsen race in the "Weedle Industries Perfect 10 Challenge" desert race in Johnson City, California. Next weekend he will be back in action in his winged 360 sprint car at a pair of races on two of the crown jewel tracks in Northern California. On Friday the 10th, he will be at the Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. Twenty-four hours later and 120 miles south, he will compete on the banked, 58-year-old Placerville Speedway. Chiaramonte would like to thank all his sponsors who have made his racing efforts possible. RTL Traffic Control, AM Ortega, OCC Motorsports, Hyper Racing, Chop Design, Adams Motors, Hacienda Casa Blanca Fine Mexican Dining, Evil Plus Injection, King Racing Products, Tyner, and Keizer Wheels. If you would like to be a partner with one of America's fastest-rising racing stars, please contact Daniel Chiaramonte via email at mailto:dchiaramonte@rtltraffic.com or by calling (619) 988-7563.
