- Trenca Lands in Victory Lane at Fulton
By Curtis Berleue (Fulton, NY) | After a strong run resulting in a podium finish earlier this season at the Fulton Speedway, Joe Trenca backed up the performance with his first win of the season on Friday night as part of the Outlaw 200 weekend. Leading all 25 laps, the Clay, NY driver earned $2,000 for his efforts. By virtue of drawing the Pinnacle pole award, Trenca and Chase Moran would bring the field to green. Trenca jumped out to an early lead, with Jason Barney falling into second place behind him. Larry Wight quickly moved from his fifth starting position to claim the final podium spot for the time being. On lap 13, Wight was able to get by Barney to take control of second place, with Trenca still holding a one-second advantage on the field. Wight remained in second for a handful of laps, until a hard-charging Jordan Poirier was able to sneak by on lap 18. Poirier, who started in 7th, had been steadily making his way through the field. Out front, however, nobody had anything for Trenca as he crossed the checkers first, collecting his first win of 2025 and second career win at the Fulton Speedway. "It feels great (to be in victory lane)," said Trenca. "We needed that one, it's been a real tough year, the last 24 hours have been real tough. We've gone through a lot of adversity, and it feels great." Jordan Poirier, having just claimed the 2025 championship, came home in second. "I knew it was probably going to be a bottom dominant race track," said Poirier. "Barney went to the top (on the last restart), which is unusual so I took advantage of it." "I'm so happy for the Trenca crew though, we've been going racing with them for a long time and it feels good to finally see them win." The championship is Poirier's fourth overall and fourth in a row. "When I was watching (Uncle) Steve racing I was just hoping to win a race someday, let alone a championship. Now with four in a row, its just unreal." Rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium was Danny Varin, who cracked into the top three on lap 19 after starting in 13th. "We were working on this car all night, we weren't the greatest tonight but it's pretty good to be able to come from where we did," said Varin. "We just needed to start a little better." With 35 cars in the pits for the final points paying show of 2025, the field was split into four timed hot lap groups, with Larry Wight, Shawn Donath, Dillon Paddock and Jordan Poirier each earning Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards. Elab Smokers Boutique heat races were won by Matt Tanner, Jason Barney, Dylan Swiernik, and Jordan Poirier. Kyle Smith won the Lacaillade Masonry B-Main, while Danny Varin won the East Coast Sealcoat & Paving dash. - Empire Super Sprints Round Out 2025 Points Season Friday at Fulton
By Curtis Berleue (Fulton, NY) | With just one point paying race left on the schedule, the Empire Super Sprints head to the Fulton Speedway this week as part of the annual Outlaw 200 weekend. Headlining the Friday night action, the stars and cars of the best 360 sprint car drivers in the northeast will compete for a $2,000 to win top prize. While Jordan Poirier has already locked up his third consecutive championship, the points battle behind him is very much alive going into the final night of action. Dylan Swiernik, who has had a breakout season thus far that includes winning the CNY Speedweek title, currently sits in second place with a 148-point advantage over Davie Franek in third. Behind Franek, Jason Barney sits fourth in points with Shawn Donath rounding out the top five. In two events completed at Fulton already in 2025, Shawn Donath was the most recent winner back on August 30. Dylan Swiernik picked up the CNY Speedweek win at the Oswego County oval on July 5. Both drivers look to cap off the 2025 season with a strong points finish, as each of them sit in the top five in points currently as well. - Jordan Thomas Wins $4,220 in Outlaw Fall Nationals
By Curtis Berleue (Dundee, NY) | After showing consistent speed throughout the 2025 season, Jordan Thomas finally broke through into ESS victory lane Friday at the Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY. Notching his third tour victory at the Yates County Oval, Thomas led 19 of 25 laps on his way to the $4,220 Cal Lane Memorial win. By virtue of drawing the Pinnacle Pole award, Jordan Hutton led the field to green alongside Jordan Thomas. Thomas would immediately take control of the field using the high side of the speedway, with third starting Jordan Poirier moving to second and Hutton settling into third. The lead trio remained the same until lap 14, when Jordan Hutton spun on the top side of turn two while working traffic. The ensuing restart allowed Poirier to sneak past Thomas, though his success was short lived as Thomas was able to get back by him to retake the lead just 6 laps later. Poirier's slide backwards continued two laps later, as eighth starting Davie Franek got by him with just three to go. Neither Franek nor Poirier ultimately had anything for Thomas though, as he got to the checkers first for his first tour win of 2025. "In the black slick we were no good," said Thomas in victory lane. "Once he (Poirier) got by me, he was struggling a little bit, I just had to be patient. Even when he was running the top, I could tell he couldn't carry the speed I was." "When we got back by him there, I was just hoping for the laps to count down and hold on." Davie Franek picked up the A-Verdi Storage Containers hard charger award by passing six cars and finishing second. "It was entertaining watching those two guys (Thomas and Poirier) go at it," said Franek. "I wish we didn't start eighth, I think we would have definitely been up there a little bit sooner." Rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium was Jordan Poirier. "We're not good here usually," said Poirier. "When I got the lead I was like 'Okay, we might have something here,' but I was just trying to conserve." "Its good to finally finish on the podium here at Outlaw, it's the first time. We had a good battle with Jordan (Thomas) there." With 17 cars in the pits, the field was split into two timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Jordan Hutton and Dylan Swiernik, while Elab Smokers Boutique heats were won by Davie Franek and Jonathan Preston. The next scheduled event for the Empire Super Sprints is Friday October 3rd at the Fulton Speedway in Futon, NY. - Dylan Swiernik Wins Fourth Race of 2025 at Drummond
By Curtis Berleue (Drummondville, QC) | In what could be considered a breakout year for Dylan Swiernik, he picked up his fourth win of the 2025 season on Saturday night at Autodrome Drummond. The Port Leyden, NY driver led early, and then re-took the lead on lap 24 after running the majority of the race in the runner-up position to earn a $3,000 pay day north of the border. Leading the field to green by virtue of drawing the Pinnacle pole award was the #7C of Dylan Swiernik. Swiernik would take the lead early, with Dale Gosselin in second. By lap six, however, Friday nights winner Alex Therrien was able to get by Swiernik and take command of the field. The lead duo would then run the next handful of laps in the same running order, with Therrien opening up over a one second advantage over Swiernik. Behind them, fellow Quebec driver Jordan Poirier had made quite a bit of headway in the first few laps. After starting 11th, Poirier went to seventh on lap two, and took hold of a podium spot on lap three, making it all the way up to third. As the laps wound down, Swiernik began to close the gap on Therrien. With just two laps remaining he was able to get by Therrien's #21 machine to re-claim the lead. Swiernik would go on to lead the final laps, and pick up his fourth win of 2025. Behind Swiernik, Alex Therrien finished second, while Jordan Poirier rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third. Danny Varin finished fourth, and Davie Franek completed the top five. With 23 cars signed into the pits, the field was split into three timed hot lap groups. By Curtis Berleue (Granby, QC) | For Alex Therrien, the two-race weekend in Quebec at Autodromes Granby and Drummond is always circled on his calendar as a weekend racing close to home. Friday night, it was not only a home game for the Victoriaville, Quebec driver, but it also marked his first Empire Super Sprints victory in front of a home crowd. By virtue of drawing the Pinnacle Pole Award, Mathieu Bardier brought the field to green alongside of Alex Therrien. Bardier led the field into turn one, but by the exit of turn two, Therrien had taken command of the field. A red flag with just one lap complete set the field up for a restart, and Therrien again jumped out to a lead, but this time with Joe Trenca in tow as he was able to get by Bardier for second. With 10 laps complete, Therrien had opened up over a straightaway lead and began working lap traffic. Trenca remained second, and Jason Barney had worked his way into a podium position. Just one lap later, Barney got by Trenca using the low side of the speedway to take possession of second. Dylan Swiernik, who had started 9th, was slowly making his way through the field. With 12 laps complete, he had made his way into the top ten, and four laps later he slipped by Trenca for third. With 9 laps remaining, he got by Barney for second and set his sights on Therrien. Therrien's lead, which had opened up to over three seconds, began shrinking, but Swiernik ran out of time and Therrien held on to pick up his first Empire Super Sprints victory. Behind Therrien, Dylan Swiernik crossed the line in second, and Jordan Poirier rounded out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third, as he got by Barney with just a handful of laps remaining. 21 cars signed in for action on Friday at Granby, splitting the field into three timed hot lap groups. Dale Curran, Dylan Swiernik, and Shawn Donath earned Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards. In Elab Smokers Boutique heat race action, Matt Tanner, Dylan Swiernik and Davie Franek all picked up victories. The next scheduled event for the Empire Super Sprints is Saturday August 23rd at the Autodrome Drummond in Drummondville, QC.
