Fulton Speedway Dirt Track News
- Barney Wins Night 3 of ESS Speedweek at Brewerton
By Curtis Berleue (Brewerton, NY) | Brewerton, NY driver Jason Barney always has the Empire Super Sprints stops at his home track circled on his calendar. With his success at the 'D-Shaped Dirt Demon' during last years edition of CNY Speedweek, he was looking to back it up with another win in 2025, and that's exactly what he did, earning a $2,500 payday in the process. Drawing the Pinnacle Pole, Glenn Styres led the field to green next to Logan Crisafulli. Crisafulli got the early jump, and would lead the opening 7 laps. By lap 8, fourth-starting Larry Wight had caught Crisafulli and was able to get by him to take possession of the lead. Wight would proceed to lead the next 13 laps, when Jason Barney - who had spent the entirety of the feature thus far in a podium spot - slipped by him. While Wight was able to maintain a close gap on Barney, he ultimately wasn't able to reclaim his lead and Barney would cross the line first for his first ESS win of 2025. "That was pretty crazy, that was pretty fun," said Barney in victory lane. "I really didn't think that was going to happen. Larry was better, we got in traffic and I struggled a bit. The caution just gave me a chance to reset." "I just put the wing back, made some adjustments. Wherever Larry was going, I was going to go somewhere different and it just worked out." Larry Wight held on to finish in second. "This is the first time I have run a sprint car since the Outlaw 200 last year," said Wight. "We didn't know what to do with this new tire, we needed like two, two and a half laps to get some heat into the right rear. Then I started chasing Jason back down and just ran out of time." Rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium was Danny Varin with a third place finish. "We were really good, we just got held up early," said Varin. "Jason was on the bottom, the 36 was on the top and we just couldn't make the middle work. It's a good third place finish for us tonight." Night 3 of Pitre Painting CNY Speedweek saw 31 cars signed into the pit area of the Brewerton Speedway. In timed hot laps, Logan Crisafulli, Ryan Turner and Billy VanInwegen earned Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards. Elab Smokers Boutique heat wins went to Logan Crisafulli, Larry Wight and Billy VanInwegen. The JZ Snowdrifters Dash was won by Dalton Rombough, and Shawn Donath won the Lacaillade Masonry B-Main. The Pitre Painting CNY Speedweek continues next at the Fulton Speedway in Fulton, NY. - Swiernik Doubles Up, Wins Night Two of ESS Speedweek at Utica-Rome
By Curtis Berleue (Vernon, NY) | For the second night in a row, Dylan Swiernik found himself in victory lane at the conclusion of on-track action. The $2,500 victory extended the Port Leyden, NY drivers lead in the weeklong points chase as the tour nears the middle of the week. 'The Cobra' Chuck Hebing drew the Pinnacle Pole, and thus led the field to green for 25 laps alongside of Sammy Reakes IV. Hebing jumped out to the lead early, with Jordan Poirier moving up from 5th to second and Dylan Swiernik in third behind him. With Poirier on the low side and Hebing through the middle, the lead duo pulled away from the rest of the field through the opening five laps. By lap 8 they caught lap traffic, allowing Dylan Swiernik to close in on them. Using a lap car as a pick on lap 9, Swiernik got by Poirier for second and set his sights on Hebing. Poirier wasn't about to give up though, as just two laps later he fought back to the inside of Swiernik. He was unable to get by him, though, and a lap later Swiernik again used lap traffic to his advantage, taking over the lead from Hebing as they crossed the halfway mark. A mishap in turns one and two would set back Poirier two spots, with both Paulie Colagiovanni and Logan Crisafulli slipping by. Again not to be outdone, Poirier fought back onto the podium a handful of laps later. Out front, Swiernik had opened up his lead to over a second, and was able to successfully navigate lap traffic to remain unchallenged, crossing under the checkers first for the second time in as many nights. "This is unbelievable, usually I'm terrible here," said Swiernik in victory lane. "They (Hebing and Poirier) made it tough. I wish he (Hebing) would go back into retirement because he ran a little too good." Making a rare appearance after scaling back his racing efforts, Chuck Hebing held on for second. "I was putting that car together for Lacey, I kinda still had an itch and thought I needed to come out one more time," said Hebing. "The car was good, In just did a bad job myself in the lap traffic and that's when Dylan gained on me and got by me." Rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery Podium was Jordan Poirier in third. "I was trying to venture out, my best line was out of two," said Poirier. "My car wasn't great in the middle, I was really good on the bottom. As soon as I would venture out I would struggle." 31 cars signed into the pits for night two of the Pitre Painting CNY Speedweek. The field was split into three timed hot lap groups, with Danny Varin, Jordan Poirier and Matt Farnham earning Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards. Elab Smokers Boutique heat races were won by Billy VanInwegen, Jordan Poirier and Chuck Hebing. The Advanced Electrical and Communications LLC. Dash was won by Danny Varin, while Chase Moran won the Lacaillade Masonry B-Main. The Empire Super Sprints CNY Speedweek continues tonight, July 4th at the Brewerton Speedway in Brewerton, NY. - Swiernik Opens ESS CNY Speedweek With Win at Can-Am
By Curtis Berleue (LaFargeville, NY) | On the opening night of the 2025 version of the Empire Super Sprints Central NY Speedweek, it was all Dylan Swiernik as he went quick time in his group, won his heat and won the A-Main en-route to a $2,500 payday. Dillon Paddock and Davie Franek would bring the field to green for 25 laps. As the field got to turn one, Franek would get a little sideways allowing Paddock to take an early lead. Matt Tanner would fall in line behind him, with Franek relegated back to third. 10th-starting Jordan Poirier made quick work of all 10 cars in front of him, as he passed Paddock for the lead coming to the start/finish line on lap 4. For the next handful of laps, Poirier paced the field, though Paddock didn't let him out of his sight. On lap 8, Dylan Swiernik entered the chat for the podium as he passed Franek for third, coming from his 8th starting spot. A caution shortly after stacked the field up for a restart. Poirier jumped back out to the lead, with Swiernik picking off another car for the second spot. As the laps clicked off, the lead duo started to pull away from the field. On lap 13, Swiernik saw his opportunity coming off of turn two and used a run he had built on the bottom to his advantage, rocketing past Poirier for the lead. With a clear track in front of him, Swiernik didn't look back, almost immediately building a lead of over two seconds. Through the remaining laps, Poirier wasn't able to get back to Swiernik, who picked up his first win of 2025. "It was amazing," said Swiernik of his new car in victory lane. "I didn't really realize when that caution came out how far ahead I was." "I was able to stay with him (Poirier) off of three and four, made my move in two and just pulled away for the win from there." Jordan Poirier earned the A-Verdi Storage Containers Hard Charger award by virtue of going 10th to 2nd. "I knew my car was going away out of two, everybody was throwing dust from the bottom to the top," said Poirier. "I felt like somebody would need a good car to pass me still, but then I saw Dylan could go middle, top bottom. I tried to follow him but I was stuck where the track was clean, I couldn't really go up in the dust." Finishing third was Billy VanInwegen. "I just have to clean up a couple of things on my end," said VanInwegen. "I got off to a really rough start, missed my marks a couple of times. What a racetrack though, that was a really cool race, the track changed a lot throughout the race and it just took me a little bit to get back in the swing of things." 29 cars signed in for the first night of Central NY Speedweek, splitting the field into three timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Jason Barney, Dylan Swiernik and Davie Franek. Elab Smokers Boutique heat races were won by Dalton Rombough, Dylan Swiernik and Davie Franek. The Cooks Hardware Dash went to Danny Varin, while Chad Phelps won the Lacaillade Masonry B-Main. - ESS Central NY Speedweek Kicks Off Wednesday
By Curtis Berleue (LaFargeville, NY) | Every year as the calendar flips to July the Empire Super Sprints get ready to kick off their Central NY Speedweek, and this year is no different. The 2025 version of the Pitre Painting CNY Speedweek is set to get under way this Wednesday for 5 straight nights of action. Starting Wednesday night, the tour heads to the Can-Am Speedway in LaFargeville, NY. Thursday, teams will head back down I-81 to the Utica-Rome Speedway. Friday and Saturday see a stop at the Brewerton and Fulton Speedways, respectively before the week-long event culminates on Sunday at the Weedsport Speedway. Each night of this years CNY Speedweek will pay $2,500 to the winner and $300 to start. Defending CNY Speedweek champion and current ESS points leader Jordan Poirier leads the charge into the week. While he never got to victory lane last year during Speedweek, Poirier proved that consistency is key, finishing outside of the top 5 just once (6th at Fulton). His bid to repeat last years performance will have to go through the likes of tour regulars Jason Barney, Davie Franek, Logan Crisafulli, Paulie Colagiovanni and many more. A whole host of marketing partners are what helps make such a unique event possible. While Pitre Painting has come on board to sponsor the whole week, Cooks Hardware (Can-Am), Advanced Electrical and Communications LLC (Utica-Rome), J&Z Snowdrifters (Brewerton), Goliath Holdings (Fulton) and Travis Racing Engines (Weedsport) will present the Dash throughout the week. Special CNY Speedweek merchandise will be available to purchase at the ESS apparel trailer in limited supply at each track throughout the week. Additional information for each night, including admission prices and an order of events, can be found on each track's website/social media pages, along with on the Empire Super Sprints social media pages. For the latest news, information, and schedule updates regarding the Empire Super Sprints be sure to check the series website (www.EmpireSuperSprints.com) and follow along on Facebook (Empire Super Sprints), X (@ESSprints) and Instagram (@empiresupersprints). - Poirier Doubles Up On Weekend, Wins at Cornwall
By Curtis Berleue (Cornwall, ONT) | For the second time in as many nights, Jordan Poirier found himself in Empire Super Sprints victory lane on Sunday at Cornwall. Having now won 3 out of 5 contested ESS A-Mains, Poirier picked up $2,000 for his efforts on a Sunday night close to his hometown. Drawing the Pinnacle Pole Award was Davie Franek, who consequently led the field to green for the 25 lap main event. Franek jumped out to an early lead over 3rd-starting Joe Trenca and Bryan Cloutier. As the laps clicked away, Franek maintained his lead over the field. Behind him, Poirier was slowly but surely moving forward from his fourth starting spot. By lap 9, he had moved into sole possession of third, and just two laps later stole second, setting his sights on Franek. As the field closed in on 10 laps to go, Poirier closed in on Franek. By lap 17, Poirier had gotten by Franek and never looked back, picking up his third win of 2025. "I was really, really bad at the beginning of the feature," said Poirier. "I was so tight, I knew the top was going to come in at some point it was just a matter of at what point it would because the bottom was slicking off pretty quickly." "When Jason passed me, I thought I might have lost that spot at the beginning of the feature. But yeah, it feels good (to win), the car was great and such an awesome crowd here." For the second night in a row, Jason Barney finished second. "It was nice. That's three races in a row behind the 28," said Barney. I hate getting used to that, but he's doing a good job." "Starting tenth, I was just hoping to maintain to be honest, we caught a few breaks on the restarts, being in the right place at the right time. My car wasn't perfect to start, so that really helped." Rounding out the Ashley Lynn Winery podium in third was Logan Crisafulli. "Yeah, it was definitely hard. I thought I got Davie (for third) coming to the white, but everyone's telling me it was coming to the checkers." 20 cars signed in for the second night of the Canadian swing for the Empire Super Sprints, splitting the field into three timed hot lap groups. Rifenburg Contracting fast time awards went to Alex Therrien, Jordan Poirier and Logan Crisafulli, while Elab Smokers Boutique heats were won by Davie Franek, Jordan Poirier and Logan Crisafulli. The next scheduled event for the Empire Super Sprints is the annual Central NY Speedweek. Paying $2,500 to win each night, the week gets started on Wednesday July 2 at the Can-Am Speedway in LaFargeville. Thursday will see a visit at the Utica-Rome Speedway, followed by Friday at Brewerton and Saturday at Fulton. The week caps off with the finale on Sunday July 6 at the Weedsport Speedway. By Curtis Berleue (Dundee, NY) | After a long off season, the Empire Super Sprints are ready to get their 2025 season under way this Saturday afternoon at the Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, NY. Paying tribute to local racing legend Cal Lane, the Outlaw Spring Nationals will start the season off with a bang paying $4,220 to the winner. In 85 previous events at the Dundee oval, 52 different drivers have sat in ESS victory lane. Most recently it was Jordan Thomas, who picked up the Hoag Memorial last October. Matt Tanner (July) and Davie Franek (September) also picked up ESS victories at Outlaw last season. Mal Lane, brother of Cal whom Saturday's event will honor, holds the most ESS victories at the track with 6. Saturday's event will be the first of multiple stops for the Empire Super Sprints in Dundee for 2025. The tour will return in July for the Outlaw Summer Nationals, September for the Outlaw Fall Nationals, and again in October to cap off the season with the annual Hoag Memorial. For drivers looking to get some time on the track prior to the start of the season, Outlaw Speedway will also be hosting an open practice on Friday night. Pits will open at 5pm for Friday's practice, with pit admission set at $35, grandstands at $10 and kids 12 & under free. For Saturday's racing program, pits will open at 11am, with hot laps set for 2pm and racing at 3pm. Pit admission will be $47, grandstand admission $25, seniors 63+ $22, and kids 12 & under free.
